Shanwen tries to look pleasent, "Quite all right, I am sure the Durotas has the prisoner transfer well in hand. Thank you for your assistance Miss... Stone." He indicates that now would be a good time for you to get off the wagon.

If I can make it in, I will head down and make sure it looks clear.

Unfortunately the lock is giving you a bit of difficulty. You are having some trouble getting it open.

Whatever you think but if he is worth his wisdom.

He will reply in an in character fashion which would be too much trouble to do:

0s Create water, detect poison, purify food/drink, guidance.
1st command, Entropic Shield, obscuring mist,
2nd find traps, silence.
he is also able to Touch of Good(sacred bonus to stuff) and Battle Rage (damage bonus)
His domain spells are not listed since all his choices require DF.

I gets off wagon and hightails back to post. Yay for no more being berated!

"How much of an area can you cloud with mist? We might need to use that in a pinch to get out of here."

If there seems to be time, and I can't open the lock with a repeat attempt:
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) + 9 = 19

I'll try (with the aid of the others) to pry open the cover with Alcibade's Spear, if that sort of thing is possible.

Not sure how that'd work, but if its a stat check, I'll roll the dice ahead of time to spare us lots of reposting 1d20 ⇒ 19. I have only a +1 strength bonus but maybe if we all tried at once?

Has alcibades had any luck finding anything useful in the abandoned building?

Does the searching seem to be getting closer, further away, or about the same?

"We really need to get out of here NOW. When we get back to 'base' we are going to have a talk, Arael, and this sort of screw up must never happen again. I have no moral objections with the work you do, but it is time to organize, and militarize your group. When we return, we must speak of your recruits, training, and production."

I will attempt to provide aid to Dakaar. 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 +1 (for guidance if applicable) Hopefully Arael will help as requested. I suggest that Arael uses guidance on everyone before/as we get started trying to pry open the entrance. Giving everyone a plus. (I assume i have a good idea of what the spells do as my knowledges are all decent/good.)

Did i notice any boxes, barrels or sacks that might fit Arael as Dakaar got down (I do a quick sweep of the near by side streets as he is getting down).

You also see presuming it is early evening, but before sunset when you awakeAmaya, Ermolos, Larko, Rizzardo, and Janiven. Vitti is in the kitchen preparing food oven a very low fire. The others you met do not appear to be around. Through the kitchen you can reach an upper level which holds 2 rooms with several cots in them and a 3rd room with one cot and a desk. It looks like it is the most recently and most heavily used of the 3. Stairs from this smaller level do continue up to a small bell tower.

Areal can obscure a 20ft radius area, so most of the section of ally you are in. Areal aids by casting guidance, even so, both the second attempt at unlocking and the break attempt to pry it open fail. There are no good objects to hide him in this area.

It is hard to tell, but you havn't seen any guards or Hellkights pass by recently. It is more likely they are establishing a perimeter of some kind. To try to catch you leaving the area.

Dakaar spends a few minutes studying the sewer entrance, trying to figure out why the device is being so stubborn.

If I can "take 20" here, I guess I'll do that.

If after a few more minutes of trying, nothing works, I'll follow alcibades into the abandoned warehouse with Arael, and try to work out an escape plan.

If the grate pops, I will light a torch and then head down to make sure the coast is clear.

I'll indicate by waving my torch that everything is OK to arael/alci.

You find appearances are deceiving and it is not as liftable as you thought. Mathelen quickly helps you with it though, "Lets move some of them into the shirne area so we can take a look at what is in them." After moving a few boxes. That said. I will look for the butler, while alcibades and aya investigate downstairs.

Gorram it, I had a whole diplome check all ready to convinced Dakaar that we should interrogate together. It was brillant...

After ascertaining that Cecily is uninjured and not likely to attack us, I am going to ask that she go wait in her mother's room with Ichabod and the sleeping villains. After she does so, I explain to Dakaar that I think we should probably talk to the halfling servant first, since a.) he was behaving more suspiciously than the daughter, b.) I'd really like to determine tabs on everyone in the house, and c.) I'm hoping that the mother will minimize the evil she does upon awaking if her daughter is in the room. Plus, I figure Ichabod can convince the daughter not to flip out too much about the whole mother being tied up and evil thing. Or, you know, just cast sleep again.

We need to watch the Butler and the daugther. We need to get them into one room and say the assain broke in and the others are handling it be vague about the details. Kadin and Dakaar are rounding them up i think Aya should go up as well and watch those two with Kadin. She can then send Dakaar and Ichabod down with the two people who are tied up. Then we can all get some questions answered.

If Dakaar's rope is still hanging i will tie knots for the first 6 ft ... or however high i can reach...If there is a chair near by i will pull that over to stand on and tie knots for the first 10 ft or wahtever to help Aya. If it is not she will need to use the elevator rope and hope off on the first floor and then take the stairs to the second.

I question the newly freed people about who they are and how they got captured and for how long etc. While sharing my rations with them and explaining they we will get to the bottom of this and make sure they are freed from harm. I tell them i am Alcibades and our group is called the cleansing frame. We wish to make things safer in the city.

I make the trade with Dakaar saying ... thanks for giving me the good deal... However, I think this may be more useful for me.

Aya climbs up whatever Alchibades can make of the rope. I have a -2 for armor check. 3d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) - 2 = 6.
according to john this passes so I'm going to continue as if it does...and assume the rope is, of course, still present after the elevator went through the shaft

Aya then climbs out, makes sure the rope is still secure and pulls it up to tie knots in the rest of it in case we need to use it again.

After that I run to find Kadin & Dakaar. I relate Alch's plan to Dakaar and let Kadin know I'll be hanging out with her and the butler & daughter.

"Kadin, before we get them together in one room, we need to be on the same page. Basically, the assassin is in the house, and we are to keep them safe with us in the room until Alch or Dakaar find us. They must stay with us no matter what since the rest of the group will be rounding up the bad guys downstairs."

I'll agree to this, and try to find the butler and bring him to the rest of the party.

Also, if I get the chance to make it up to the old lady's room. I'll search the halfling and relieve him of any thieves tools or alchemical goods he may have.

Perception-Search: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 7 = 11

DM:
At this point, they are the 'bad guys' and I'm going to grab a couple of the fancy goblets in the kitchen, and a few pieces of silverware and tuck them inside my tunic and backpack. When no one is looking, I'll drop the rest of the goblets on the floor and crush them (in the fabric of my cloak or even better if there's any cloth nearby I'll use that) to make it look like they were knocked over in the commotion. I'll try to be stealthy and keep out for observers while I do this. (You can make the rolls if I need to, my stealth is +9, and perc is +7)

As far as I'm concerned once someone crosses me or breaks a contract (the woman obviously set us up), they're asking for trouble, and the old lady is lucky if she makes it out.

I seem to be able to trust alcibades and david the gnome, and would share with them.

Let me know if this is too much of a deviation for my character. I'm used to playing grabby-hands guys so this is new to me.

I feel as if I stuck myself in a corner. Dakaar is certainly sensible and if he can better equip himself hed do it, but at the same time, hes not a petty thief. But... I dont know what I'd do if I'm in some crazy witches house and we just killed her satan dog. If it was a cave, and it was an ogre, wed be all rushing to go after the chests.
...Shoulda made a rogue!

I dunno, Dakaar isnt morally opposed to stealing in the slightest, but at the same time it may be beneath him (or so he thinks)..

Female Human Paladin - 1

Kadin gives Aya a look that indicates that she is as likely to leave those mooks alone with the "bad guys" as she is to strip down to her underwear and start doing a pole dance, though she feels that having the argument with Aya is likely not going to do any good.

She suggests that Dakaar and Aya go get the butler and bring him up to the room where the people are tied up and she'll go discuss this with Alcibades to ensure that everyone is, in fact, on the same page.

She takes the elevator down to the basement.

"Kadin, you are making things difficult with your uncooperative attitude. You and Dakaar work out what you're going to do, I will tend to the daughter and wait for whoever joins me with the butler."

Assuming that Kadin & Dakaar are still together while Kadin is being difficult, Aya lets them work it out and go to the daughter's room to wake her up and stay until SOMEONE comes back with the butler.

As I enter the daughter's room, I want to do a perception check just to make sure I'm not going into some kind of evil place - 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 6, 1) + 5 = 16

DM ONLY:
Jai, I worked on distributing the points from Dex last night and John and I dumped them into my CHA so everything but CHA and WIS is at 10 and those two are at 16. Let me know if that's going to be a problem.

Point of note, before Aya came up, Kadin and Dakaar talked to the daughter, who was cowering in the closet, and moved her into the mother's room.

Kadin raises her eyebrows at Aya's statement. "You'll have to forgive me if, unlike you, I am unwilling to sit quietly and leave matters to individuals who have demonstrated that they hold human lifeand the laws of the land in dubious regard, especially where my career and reputation are concerned. If that makes me 'difficult' and 'uncooperative,' I can live with that better than I can live with deaths that I could have prevented."

Assuming she was informed of the location change, Aya ignores Kadin, leaves, and goes to the Mother's room. What's going on in there?

you can use the perception check for the mother's room instead if you wish. Also, not that I care to get in a argument of who said what, but I didn't read anything of Dakaar agreeing with Kadin to move the daughter...how are we going to handle timing issues and what happens when? By the time I got up there, would the daughter have already been moved or would I have arrived before they put her in the other room? It seems like the time I Left was very soon after Dakaar left. Maybe I missed something at the end of our session...it's your call Jason.

For the record, Dakaar thinks we should keep the butler/daughter away from the mother for now.

I do think we need some kind of procedure for order on the posts. We seem to have issues where some people like to post frequently and some people not at all. And for efficiency, we post multiple actions, and when others want to respond to an initial action, we get confused about what did and did not happen. Any suggestions?

I agree that we need some sort of established system. And perhaps having one major action until responding is the best idea so that we can coherently each relay our actions to Jason. The only problem that that introduces is that inter-character interaction that would normally add something inbetween DM posts really wouldnt work. I think we need to just all work together to try and keep this coherent. We're all on the same side here.

Also, I kinda think that our last session we kinda fell off track. I know I'm one of the worst for wacky OOC comments, but they seem to be interpreted as in character, so I'm going to make the attempt to curb this as it seems alot of what I say is being taken as IC. Dakaar is far less evil my offhand comments will let on. I've been trying to have fun and joke around but I think people are taking it the wrong way. On the same note, I think that we've all been inviting metagaming a bit by giving away stuff character to character that might make saying IC more difficult.

Aaaanyways. Lets just clear up the situation so that when jason gets on he understands whats going on.

I'm going to try and list what I understand everyones actions are and then maybe we can come to an agreement.

Dakaar: Was going to the daughter's room with Kadin, then assuming no werewolves or vampires or werewolf vampires He'd go to the butler's room.

Dakaar got stopped by Aya at some point and is told of Alci's plan. Dakaar agrees as we need to find out why we were set up, what was happening, and how we are going to resolve this. If the daughter/butler are innocent, we don't need them flipping out. (This is dakaar's thoughts, he hasnt really expressed this.)

Alcibades: wants to get the daughter and butler safely sequestered untill we can figure out the situation. Wants us to bring the halfling and the old lady to the basement for questioning.

Aya: heading upstairs to spread Alci's plan to the others. Is having some words with Kadin near or in the daughter's room, while Dakaar is most likely rounding up the butler(unless someone stopped him physically)

Kadin: Is with the daughter, currently having some words with Aya.

Thank you for the recap. I was both pleased and disturbed to find a post made on the board. I know I've been flaky a bit so not waiting on me to recap is understandable. The main issue (right now)seems to be with the party being split. It gives no people a frame of reference to know when/if they find someone else. If only a few characters are interacting without a need to split and then find others who were not there, I see no reason for you to wait on me. If I know I want something to happen while people are rping then I'll interject. Having said that also consider that I can't really post from work. I read up on posts when I get breaks, but can't respond. My suggestion in to roll back to the exact moment we left off at the live session. Let establish "where" people are and let me moderate some of the in between moments. To be honest I had a note of who was where, but then you guys kept going a bit so I lost track while packing up. If this "roll back" seems reasonable to clear up RP etc. let me know.

*critical failure on grammer check*
New procedure would be each player proposes an action, possibly with contingencies (as spoilers please), but let me moderate what happens. Expect a 1-2 day turnaround. If people know there will be a series of player/DM interactions required with them I would think they would watch the board more closely. This is a work in progress and if anyone has a better idea I am more then open to suggestion. I want to make sure people are happy with all aspects of the game.

No. Seriously. It is a good recap and didn't require me to cross reference 8 different posts ^_^. Lets see what the others say on the roll back or if we want to go with "I posted what I want to do, but when DM says what happens I will change based on I can't do that." To whoever is around and may be listening within the party, Ichabod says, "Despite my near death, I think things worked out pretty well here. I assume the old woman won't be paying us, which is unfortunate. We certainly need to figure out what's going on in this home, but after all research and interogations are concluded, I highly suggest we assist Kadin with the 'prisoner transport' to ensure these villians are dealt with according to the law. Furthermore, if possible, I'd think it's reasonable to try to enhance our cause by exagerrating Kadin's role in the detective work and subsequent melee. I believe Kadin is the most likely to gain from an increased reputation with her superiors, and such an increase may reasonably lead to more trust and/or requests in the future."

Kadin, let me know if I need to make any of my absurd Diplomacy checks to convince you and/or befriend you. The only thing I'm trying to get out of my suggestion is the possibility of you being given more detective work and bringing me along.

"Before we leave, however, here are the first set of questions I'd like answered:
1.) Why did the old woman invite us here in the first place?
2.) Why did the old woman have her son-in-law killed?
3.) Who is this crazy halfling and what's his motivation?
4.) What do the husband and daughter know about what's going on?"

ok I want to make sure I have starting positions (as in, before posting resumed) correct and I will reinterpret from there.
Alcibades stays in the basement
Kadin, Davis and Aaron take the elveator to Auraluna's chambers.
Dakaar and Aya climb out Aya climbing only once the rope has been knotted.
Ichabod is in Auraluna's bed chambers guarding the prisoners though badly injured.
If no one corrects me by tomorrow evening I will progress under these assumptions.

You have my actions correctly documented. I offer the two we freed in the basement some rations.

I question them on who put them in there.
Who they are. Knowledge local to recognize them 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) + 11 = 21
Do they have any idea why they were put in the wall.
Do they know why they were put in there.
Do they have any other information that may be relevent.

4-99 MAPS:

on second thought Dakaar climbing makes no sense, plus I think David was needed to operate the wand.
Kadin, Dakaar and Aaron emerge from the elevator into Auraluna's bed chambers. Once the moving parts stop moving Alcibades takes a moment to knot the slightly mangles rope so Aya can climb out more easily. If you want to share the "plan" with Aya, post it again please. Aya climbs out of the shaft onto the first floor.
here is what I need. Any dialogue between the 4 people in the people in the bedroom and what they plan on doing next. Ichabod, if you will greet those exiting the elevator with your previous post, just say so. Though technically you do not know number 2. I also will need to know what Aya is doing next.

Alcibades:
After helping Aya out, the released victims greatfully nibble on the rations, though the man still seems a bit out of it. Half-elven woman speaks first,"My name is Vivi Knots. That crazy little halfling captured me and brought me here. Auraluna has buried in the wall. Then she she kept coming down and talking to us. Forcing us to listen to her talk which she drinks her tea, day after day."
The young human man quietly says "Cole. Cole Chartsheim. Please bring the elevator down. I really can't be down here any longer." He looks nervously over at the prone Deathdog.

Aaron exits the elevator as soon as it opens moving to the stairs down to the ground floor to make sure the elevator shaft is clear. When it is he returns to elevator and proceeds back down for the two captives realizing the pair are in no shape for a 20ft rope climb after their ordeal. It is easy to see he is a bit torn with the situation, the old woman who he promised to protect turning out to be in league with the killer and far worse then the killer himself. "There has to be some good left in this city right?" He says just before the elevator door closes, it's not quite clear who if anyone he's talking to. During the ride down he assesses his own health.

Healing: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) + 6 = 14

Greetings. This online posting is a bit odd for me but I'll try to get used to it to become more a part of the game from now on.

Jason I am unclear about exactly what you want me to do if anything. " If you want to share the "plan" with Aya, post it again please."

However, Alcibades... Communicates with Aya and whoever is in the basement at the time...I think we should keep the butler and the daughter segregated from the mother and any help she may have had. We know the mother has been up to evil and it will be best to question her here with her victims to find out the true story. We do not want to panic the daughter at this point and encase drastic steps are needed we do not want the daughters feelings for her mother to influence what needs to be done.

After who has leaving left I continue a little more questioning...

Alcibades now thinks that the butler may be in on it... I ask if they mean the butler and describe him? If that doesn't match the description I ask for a description. I also ask if anyone else has been brought down here to there knowledge.

Also do i recognize those names (of the prisoners) from the paging throug the journals? Knowledge local on who they prisoners are : 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 5, 1) + 11 = 18

I also make sure the dog is dead. Not by doing a heal check but by poking it a few more times.

After examining the room, and hearing what happened upstairs, Dakaar slowly approaches the halfling and examines him.

"Careful, He may still have some dangerous tricks up his sleeves"

And frisks the character for any hidden weapons.

DM:
And Thieves tools and potions and alchemical goods :P

Search: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4, 3) + 7 = 17

Dakaar also searches the old woman for anything dangerous or strange.

Search: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) + 7 = 21

Dakaar asks what happened and tries to get caught up on events that happened upstairs.

If the bonds holding the two seem OK, I'll let everyone know I'm going to round up the butler, and then set off to go find him.

DM:
Taking two of the goblets and breaking the rest while I do it, provided I think I'm undetected. Stealth: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) + 9 = 22 Perception: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) + 7 = 17

Aya goes to the third floor after climbing out of the elevator shaft and goes up to Aureluna's bedchamber to relate Alchibald's words. Do I run into anyone on my way? Or do I encounter anything different?

Perception Check: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5, 2) + 5 = 14

Kadin follows Dakaar.

"Before we leave, here are the first set of questions I'd like answered:

1.) Why did the old woman invite us here in the first place?
2.) Did the old woman have her son-in-law killed? If so, why?
3.) Who is this crazy halfling and what's his motivation?
4.) What do the husband and daughter know about what's going on?"

"Are you sure you want to leave them alone? If you want to come along, we should make sure that everyone is watched over."

Dakaar pulls Kadin aside, and whispers:

Kadin:

"You need to stay calm here, this old woman is crafty. We do not want her making her daughter believe that we were somehow involved in this. We need to get a complete understanding of the situation before we act.

This woman is evil. She was most likely working with the halfling."

"I found some journals cataloging people under the halfling's bed, and I found strange clothes, freshly used, in the attic. They are not the mother's , the halfling's, or the daughter's. There probably have been many victims of this old woman.

You will get your chance to bring her to justice, but if you act foolishly or quickly here, you could end up behind bars yourself. Think about it, a guard harms nobility behind closed doors when charged with protecting them?

Who will people believe? Society tells us that she is superior.

4-99 MAPS:

After exiting the elevator, Aaron, Dakaar, and Kadin are greeted by Ichabod. As he speaks Dakaar begins frisking the prisoners. Seeming to find nothing, but the cloths and armor that the slicer is wearing.

Dakaar:
You find him unarmed, but wearing studded leather armor.

Kadin, Aaron and Dakaar you may make an brief response to Ichabod in you next post if you wish.
Aaron then heads down stairs and runs into Aya heading up. He asks he about the elevator shaft and after double checking to be sure it is clear, he heads back up to Auralunas room.
Aya when you get to Auraluna's room you find Dakaar and Kadin speaking in the doorway. Aaron returns half a minute later and begins moving for the elevator. Aya and Aaron if Dakaar and Kadins conversation continues at a volume you can hear you may interject in your next post. You may certainly speak to them on other matters if you wish. Sorry if it seems like I am going bossy, but it seems like it will keep things clearer.

Alcibades:
Never mind my ramblings. You reconginize the family names as being minor noble houses, but you don't know anything specific about these two. After you make sure the dog is quite dead, Vivi responds when you ask about Barnsworth, "NO! Not the old butler, the slicer...PECK!"

Aaron speaks to Ichabod, "Friend, first of all I found this job for us, second I doubt anyone will be happy about Kadin being here for this since she is far out of her post's area of authority. And third if we play our cards right it will be the Lady Cecili who pays the reward. If we can show her the truth of the situation, that we have caught the murderer of her late husband and the accomplice or worse the killer's keeper, her mother. Worse still her absent father most likely took a different trip then we were made to believe. There are eleven bodies in the crypt and my bet is he was the first one put there, which makes Lady Cecili the holder of two estates and the one with the purse at the end of all this." He walks to the stairs as previously stated to check the elevator.

As Aaron and Aya pass on the stairs he speaks to her briefly, "Becareful up there. The halfing is dangerous but not half as dangerous as the old woman. She used a wand and not many nobles I know can do that. Maybe we should gag her before she fires anything else at us...." Returns to the room and is about to use the elevator key.

You may want an edit, she was gagged when bound at the RL session

Dakaar continues looking for the butler.

DM:
Stealing some of the crystal and breaking the rest as long as kadin isnt following him.
Stealth: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) + 9 = 19
Perc: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1, 2) + 7 = 13

If He finds the butler, He will bring (peacefully if possible, but otherwise forcibly) him to the room with the daughter. (and absolutely not to the mother's room)
