...stuff...
Kragar agrees that we should head back and sort things out before waiting around for the druid.
Kragar, when in town, will buy some armor spikes for his armor.
Once settled, Kragar will attempt to interrogate the prisoners, and find any information(intimidate) out about the druid 3d6 + 23 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) + 23 = 32,
the bandits operations 3d6 + 23 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 23 = 28, and the Council 3d6 + 23 ⇒ (5, 1, 3) + 23 = 32,

5 MWk Longbows, 5 Mwk short swords, 6 Mwk chain shirts, and 5 Mwk bucklers. 6 Longbows, 6 short swords, 6 chain shirts, 6 bucklers. 250gp in alchemical reagents. An alchemist lab. 1 masterwork sickle, +1 chain shirt, 1 masterwork light crossbow. 10 quarrels. 3 potions of cure light wounds. 5 doses of small centipede poison. Fine linen bedclothes worth 20gp. A set of pewter dishes and flatware worth 200gp. A Mithril hair clip worth 10gp. I think that covers everything. As far as info about the druid, despite your best efforts you find only minimal information. The group of bandits has been operating for a little while. Their mode of operation changed a few months ago. Probably when the druid took over. She as been operating in a few different parts of Cheliax. She goes by the name The Green Lady. Not very original, but it seems to fit. She has some potent druidic powers and seems to have a particular affinity for plants and mind control. She doesn’t have any critters hanging around like some druids. When she things get hot, she usually moves on and lets her underlings hang. Alcibades is able to locate the vest and the other gear you asked about.
Most of the day will have gone by when you return to town. How are the prisoners being brought in?
Aaron is not at either base. Nor has Areal heard from him or the wizard in training Tarvi since the previous night. He is somewhat concerned and plans on sending some of the other rebels to search for them if they do not turn up soon.

On the way back to the base, Kragar speaks up, "Hah! Victory! And I was barely scratched! Evil Witches everywhere, watch out!". Kragar begins to line up the prisoners in chains and makes a big deal about parading them back to town, showing them off as if they were trophies.
Kragar unshackles and lets the one prisoner go that we promised to let go. "If you truly want to keep on the path of righteousness, go out and find others like you. Tell them of your story, and show them that there is still hope for those that repent and side against evil."
Kragar nonchelantly brushes against his saw with his gloved hand. "You are going to stay on the righteous path, arent you?"
After the exhange, Kragar walks up and down the line of 'trophies', "So, do you... what is it?... 'Red Fire'? members have a standard contract with someone to turn these guys into work camps? Do the guards pay for each of these buffoons?" Kragar smacks one upside the head with the palm of his hand.
Kragar also inquires about a 'Red Fire' banner or cloak to wave as he charges into battle.

Krug, we usually take the prisoners to the town guard.

Well... I am leaning towards seeking out Aaron and Tarvi. We will probablly need Aaron to track down the Druid anyway assuming she really moved on like my sources indicate she would. Also, it would be bad if they were captured and ended up divulging are Aareal's whereabouts. What do you all think?
Gather Information to try to track down Aaron / Tarvi: 3d6 + 15 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) + 15 = 25
DavidTheGnome |
I agree, it would be good to have Aaron to help find the Druid. If she typically moves on after things go badly, then it's likely that she won't return to the base we attacked. (And in fact she may be rounding up a new group of bandits as we speak.) We'll need someone who can track.
Did we take any of her personal affects from her bedroom? We could use our dogs to find her scent.
And if Areal is concerned about missing people, then we should be too. If they have been captured, they might be tortured into revealing information about our group. We should join/lead the search party.
Alcibades |
Well if my gather information doesn't turn up anything I just start looking around the usual places as much as possible to try to find Aaron and Tarvi.
Before i set off i ask Aarael if he has any magic that would help us locate are friends. Maybe a spell that would find them or an object they are hodling. I also ask Aarael if he has any suggestions on where we should start looking.
I will look at both bases and if i know where Aaron lives i will look for clues there.

Does Krug know anything of the crux, glaive, etc?
Krug might have been informed that the team he is now working with completed some important recon and based on the results of that recon they will soon be able to act on some of the threats facing Westcrown. This provides Krug the chance for wealth and Martial Glory. I am almost done with the catchup stuff with Aaron the results of Alcibades efforts will be revealed soon.

Sorry for the delay. Ok slight retcon on my part. When the party finally returns from dealing with the bandits. Aaron does turn up at the temple of Erastil the next morning. I will allow him to fill you in on what kept him occupied and you guys can tell him all about your little adventure in the woods. Tarvi was with him for some of that time and has been spending some time working with Millech the humpbacked stage manager for the last day or so since she and Aaron parted ways. Yay for getting back on track and moving forward!

The pathfinder Agent Ailyn Ghontsavos has complete her research. The crux must be opened by tracing the runes on the outside. Traced in the correct order the box will open. Done incorrectly you will set of the crux's defenses. What's more, the sequence will scramble after a number of failures. There is no way to know what the sequence was at the time of its storage.
Mechanically we are looking at a series of int checks, disable device checks, or of course you could just smash it open.
“In late 4605 ar, a Pathfinder named Donatalus Bisby returned to
Westcrown from a mission to the Mwangi Expanse—a mission
previously believed to have been lost. Bisby’s unexpected return
brought much celebration, despite the fact that of the dozens
who traveled with him to the southern jungles, only he and his
chronicler had returned. Word soon spread that Bisby’s journals
would revolutionize what was known about certain lost tribes of the
Mwangi, and that he brought back with him a potent artifact. Yet
before his journals could be published, Aroden died.
“Upon Aroden’s death, panic seized Cheliax. Details of what
happened in Delvehaven are sparse, but it seems that the majority
of the Pathfinders stationed in Westcrown—Bisby included—
perished in the riots and mayhem. Worse, his journal and all of
Delvehaven’s artifacts were cut off from the Society for over
thirty years. In 4674 ar, many years after the House of Thrune
seized control of Cheliax, they made a great show of reopening
Delvehaven and inviting a select few Pathfinders back to run the
lodge—but those choices were not the Grand Lodge’s to make.
The House of Thrune only agreed to Delvehaven’s reopening if
Chelish Pathfinders of their choosing were to manage the site,
and the Society reluctantly agreed to the conditions. Securing an
accurate list of what had and hadn’t survived in Delvehaven’s vaults
was a political nightmare—the House of Thrune and their pet
Pathfinders reported that nothing of value remained, but they were
resistant to letting anyone from outside make their own inventory
and exploration of the ruins. To the public, the lodge seemed to
be run by the Society, but in truth we have very little idea exactly
what was going on in Delvehaven during those years. The whole
situation seemed to be coming to a head, with a full-on clash
between the House of Thrune and the Society imminent, but as
things worked out, Delvehaven didn’t remain active under Thrune’s
control for long.
“In 4676 ar, something happened in Delvehaven that caused
the deaths of all the Thrune Pathfinders and its subsequent sealing
by the government itself. The House of Thrune has to this date
refused to open Delvehaven or allow the Society access to the
lodge, and various conflicts with the Aspis Consortium and the
House of Thrune in other parts of Cheliax since then have effectively
distracted us from Delvehaven’s legacy. General consensus in the
Society today is that Thrune looted Delvehaven to the root and that
nothing of value remains within.
“But I’m not so sure. Over the past several months, I’ve grown
more and more intrigued by the unexplained mysteries of exactly
what happened in Delvehaven. Of perhaps more interest to you
as Westcrown natives, I’ve learned a bit about the artifact Bisby
returned with, an artifact that was in Delvehaven at the time of
Aroden’s death and that hasn’t been seen since. Notes on this
artifact are vague, alas, but from an initial report sent from
Delvehaven just before Aroden’s death, it would appear that the
artifact had ties to a dualistic religion of light and shadow. The fact
that it was only a few weeks after the House of Thrune closed up
Delvehaven that the shadow beasts first appeared in Westcrown
can’t be a coincidence. I suspect that they found this artifact in
Delvehaven, but in so doing triggered the lodge’s defenses and
caused something. I’m not saying that the source of the shadow
beasts is hidden in Delvehaven, or even that the artifact is
involved—but in my experience, there are no coincidences.”

Assuming that reply is IC and immediately after being told by that info by Ailyn, she immediately looks annoyed.
"Actually if you indeed listened to the information I shared, it is the result of something the house of Thurne's little puppets did in the name of the Pathfinder Society. In either case, if there is a connection between this artifact Bisby recovered and the problems facing Westcrown, I'm certain the answer lies in Delvehaven. Which is place my superiors would explicitly forbid me from entering unless I had some reasonablely good intelligence," She pauses given Kragar a significant looks, "from a 3rd party who has entered the lodge. I assumed this served both out purposes, but If I am mistaken I can explore other avenues. Additionally, It is quite obvious that some artifacts from before the lodges initial closing during the Chelish civil war remain. Artifacts which anyone bold enough to enter the lodge to recover would be as entitled to as any pathfinder."

Kragar begins creating his banner by attaching the trophy to the end of a long post and affixing a "cleansing flame" flag to the trophy-end of the construction. (Saranae would approve of the title :P)
Kragar will also seek out Areal and pick up a few potions of protection from evil (2) while he is awaiting the group's next move.
I finally decided on a third feat for the Roc which I never selected until now. Gonna take Weapon Focus (talon)

So after regrouping, our heros attempted to track down that pesky dwuid who has escaped their grasp earlier. The trailed seemed cold so they returned their attention to opening the Chelish crux. The Kragar, being the new guy and the only one with a reasonable aptitude for disabling such things, took a shot with Yakopulio's assistance. It took a few tries, but eventually they got the crux opened. They found a number of papers and magic items as well as an insane Erinyes head. Based on leads found there, they proceeded to the Devildrome in search of a lost pathfinders remains. In order to gain access they had to go a round in the dome. Since none of them were expert summoners, Kragar stepped up to the plate again to go in for a special match. Kragar stood against wave after wave of summoned lemurs and stood triumphant only to be forced to watch at the rest of the party was attacked by his opponent in a direct violation of the tournament rules. The party defeated him and presented his unconscious body to the crowd before turning him over to the Dottari. They rested up and went to a crematorium run by the Sisters of Eisth. The party took a diplomatic approach and managed to gain the remains they needed without a fight.
With the remains in their possession our heros interviewed the spirits via grave candles and learned some of the traps in delvhaven as well as the location of the Wave Door, a hidden cache of supplied placed by the societies Loremaster. They hired a boat and located the wave door, only to be attacked by shadows, which they defeated quickly. Now with addition resources at their disposal, it would seem that all that remains is to enter Delvhaven.

Jason is that a hint that we should go to Delhaven? I was thinking we should try to recover the stolen part first... ;)
(I am a little confused about the cache but i will post on that later.)
Alcibades has an idea for the group:
What do you guys think about hiring a bard / or writer to write up a some tales or songs about our victories so we can up our reputation a little? Of course we would keep this to the more legal ones.
David:
I have written down much of our adventurers so far would you like to spend some time with me going over them and submitting them to the pathfinder society to try to get your membership?
All:
What are your plans for West Crown to improve? Where do you see yourselves fitting in to the new West Crown if we are successful? Do you have plans beyond West Crown?

Not necessarily. I know the party has some other things they might want to persue. As far as the missing half of the Aohl that would be a length side trip, but I suppose you could try. Of course you don't have the half that was in the lodge either.

gather information / knowledge religion on vampire's weakness...
knowledge religion 3d6+11
gather information3d6+15
You know they are undead with all that that entails. Vampires are resistant to most weapons, but have a weakness for magic and silver. That have numerous mystical powers. Including the ability to change forms and drain the life out of a person. Sunlight and running water supposedly harm them. Galic, mirrors and holy symbols can hold them at bay. Individua vampires abilities depend on their life before being turned.
As for the knowledge local. If you are trying to get info about vampires from someone that would be diplomacy for a gather info. If you are asking about local vampire, there are plenty of rumors, but little of substance. Tales of vampires in the sewers, in the ruined quarter or acting during the curfew do come up, but they are all vague. If any are in Westcrown, they are keeping a low profile.
Kragar "Krug" Skull-Smasher |
Kragar goes out and buys a few large crates of fresh garlic, a dozen mirrors, and a dozen wooden stakes.
On the day they propose to enter delvehaven, kragar will crush half of the garlic into an oil/smeary paste and cover all of his clothing (under the armor etc) as well as coating all of his gear in it. He will affix a mirror to the front and back of his breastplate.
Not taking chances here :P
Kragar turns to aya "Can you brew up a barrel of holy water or something?"

Ah temple library might get you a little extra info. In addition to what Alcibades knew. You know they can summon wolves and bats. They often take on the form of wolves or bats. They can become a cloud of mist. As for magic that is extra effective, well just about all magic affects them, except for things that work on the mind. This is common to most undead. They tend to be able to resist positive energy a bit better. That cast no shadow and have no reflection. They also heal their wounds rapidly. Their bodies regenerate. You need to really put a vampire down to keep it down.

No the orb is not a holy symbol though I will double check. As for a church of Apsu there really isn't one in Westcrown. Most of his clerics are dragons. And a bunch of garlic is... a bunch of garlic. A braid perhaps? Anyway you have garlic.

Are any of the resistance blacksmiths (or their families)? If they aren't i will go to one of the shops we helped get their stuff back earlier and have them craft me a holy symbol of Apsu. Does that work out alright?
Yeah, they are able to craft something appropriate in appearance. You are not certain if it will work as many holy symbols are blessed by their church. However that might only be for magic which requires a divine focus.

A Human based church of Apsu are quite rare. His nondragon worshipers are usually those with draconic heritage or some other reasons to worship dragons. As far as becoming a member of his priesthood, you arnt really sure. His priests are usually dragons. It looks like you are on your own on this one.

Aaron shakes his head at Alcibades questions. "Becoming a little forgetful in your old age Alcibades? I was the one who asked the group to help me track that creature in return for trying to track the druid so of course I am going. I will show the group myself where I found it, or rather where it found me. And make no mistake this creature sees us as food, and I have no faith in your bizarre abilites to tame it. If we find it I will make sure it won't be finding any more meals."
The information wasn't very specific. What you might know from what I said is it took nearly an hour to reach the Temple of Erastil from the exit point, and the entry point is an unknown warehouse in the abandoned sector of the city.

Either way i would like to have my chance first. If we go in guns blazing i am not very interested in the expedition.
