Hello, everyone! I am opening recruitment for my final PbP adventure here on the Paizo boards - Kingmaker.

I'm looking for 4-5 players, but I'm open to 6 if there are some great applications.

Application
To apply, please complete the (hopefully minimal) steps below.

0. Download and read the Player's Guide.
1. Build a character using the crunch below.
2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.
3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.
4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory).

Character Creation Crunch
1. All characters begin at level one.
2. 20-point ability buy.
3. Non-evil alignments.
4. All Paizo-created races are acceptable, but core races are preferred. No custom or third-party races are allowed.
5. Paizo-created classes and archetypes only. No gunslingers, samurai, ninjas or summoners.
6. Two traits. One must be a campaign trait. Try to pick traits that align with your backstory, not just add to your character's stats (or figure out how to add stat-boosting traits into your backstory).
8. Average gold for your class.
9. Max HP at level one, roll or 1/2 HD + 1 thereafter.

Recruitment will run until I have enough applicants to choose a full party. So get those apps in quickly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I look forward to the applications!

My initial idea:

I am thinking about a human barbarian, archetype invulnerable rager. Background would be he was born into a noble house as the result of an affair between the countess and a tribesman possible a chieftain. His mother knows that he isn't a legitimate son and others suspect. His mother told him and he decided to spare her the embarrassment and possible reprisal from the wronged husband to leave for adventure and build his own position in live. I envision him as a friendly large man with quite a temper but with a good heart, caring for others.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions please let me know.

Hi, I'm definitely interested! I'll be back to apply in a couple days. I'm wrapping up some heavy course work due Friday night, then my semester is done; I'm here just scouting for a new game right now.

So for now, I'll just mention I've got two character concepts I'd particularly love to play and already partially created in anticipation of a Kingmaker PBP. One is a half-elven treesinger (druid archetype, they shape into plant forms rather than animal forms), the other is a human Aldori swordlord (fighter archetype, a duelist-styled fighter designed to model the swordlords of Brevoy). Depending on the other submissions, I'm open to whichever the party would have more of a need for.

I am interested. Would like to play a halfling beastmaster ranger.

Draft backstory is Nigel was a guardian of his small people, who fled from slavery and oppression from the south. Nigel often wandered the woods on patrol around his village. He was away on such a patrol when the small village was attacked and destroyed and now he, alone and driven by guilt, searches for those that slaughtered his friends and family. He seeks to honor the his fallen clan by rebuilding a new village in their name.

(looking up details in players guide to tie into the campaign).

Dark Archive

Just a farmboy in over his head. Background is in my profile under 'The Marked.'

Since two Kingmaker games I've been in on Myth Weavers died in under a month (GM for the first one disappeared and the game was instantly archived a few posts after we reached Oleg's while the second petered out the morning after the party arrived at Oleg's) I'm certainly up for this.

I can post just about every day, though I'm in Australia so time zones may cause some delays (for reference, Queensland is GMT+10).

Not in any PbP games here on the Paizo boards but I've been pretty regular over on Myth Weavers. Currently in a Rogue Trader game over there as well as a Jade Regent one (which is looking to be yet another victim of Vanishing GM Syndrome). Was in a great Council of Thieves campaign as well before the GM had to leave the site (I'd rather not say why for her sake, she told the players but I doubt she'd want me blabbing it on here).

The character I had in those stillborn Kingmaker games was an Angel-Blooded Aasimar from Mendev who travelled to Restov partly to get away from her parents constantly saying she should become a paladin to join the crusades against the Worldwound but mainly to try and become an Aldori Swordlord. She joined the expedition for two reasons; firstly, to better prove herself as a Swordlord and also from being badly defeated by a fellow aspiring Swordlord which made her realise that she needed some proper combat experience if she was going to beat him in a rematch.

Here's the full background if you're curious and her sheet from Myth Weavers. Can't recall what the second Kingmaker campaign had as rules for starting gold but that's easy enough to sort out if I get accepted into this one.

Spoiler:
Born in Mendev's capital city of Nerosyan, Xantria's celestial heritage instantly made people believe she would join the clergy or one of the numerous paladin orders that kept a presence in the city and would go on to help fight the demonic hordes of the Worldwound. Of course; batter this expectation over a child's head practically from the day she's born and don't be surprised when that becomes the last thing they want to do. She received some sword-training from her father - one of the conventional soldiers who fought in the crusades but was discharged for injury. Hard to fight as effectively with only one arm. Xan went with it, though more for the simple practicality of it and to stay in shape than from any desire to join the crusades or become a paladin.

After an off-hand remark about how she was being taught more to fight with one arm than with both, her father got her a book about the Aldori Swordlords of Restov - supremely skilled swordsmen who's techniques primarily relied on using the Aldori duelling sword with just one hand. The book was meant just to show Xan that there were no inherent flaws in fighting with just one arm, provided one learnt other techniques to support it, but the young aasimar ended up taking something very different from it - a burning desire to become a Swordlord herself.

Every coin she got off her parents almost instantly went into purchasing books containing stories of the Swordlords and could soon recite the legend of Sirian Aldori by heart. Apparently, her parents never noticed the growing obsession until, on her 18th birthday, she announced that he would travel to Brevoy and train to become a Swordlord. It seems that her parents had taken her joining a paladin order as a given and were naturally shocked by the change. While they reluctantly agreed to let her go, Xan is sure that they still harbour some belief that she would join an order when she returned and put the Aldori training to use alongside whatever training the paladin orders gave.

For the last two years, she has trained under a rather blunt (and somewhat alcoholic) Swordlord who explained that the aasimar would never really be accepted as one until she did something to prove herself worthy of the title. Or as he put it: "You're gonna have to beat the crap outta some real badasses if you ever wanna be called a Swordlord instead of a stupid foreign kid in way over her head!" It wasn't the most eloquent way of putting it, but Xan got the point. So when the call came for people willing to help expand into the Stolen Lands, Xan saw it as the perfect way to gain the renown she needed to be seen as a true Swordlord.

EDIT: I also wrote out the fight with the other apprentice partly out of boredom but also at the prompting of the second game's GM:

Spoiler:
"You took your time," I said as Ureste arrived. I'd chosen a quiet corner of a local park for this and he was already ten minutes late.
"I'm sorry, really, you'd be surprised at how many of the street merchants out today decided to indulge in a little 'hard sell'," he explained calmly, as though this was just a couple of friends hanging out, "you can't just walk away after all."
"Save it Ureste, you know why I asked you to come here."
"I apologise for all that - some of my subordinates have been getting a little rowdy-"
"They used my friend as a hostage and you call that 'a little rowdy'?! Even before that, they've been beating the crap out of people who don't deserve it. You need to stop all this, it's pointless."
"Pointless?" he said, something about his demeanour shifted, became colder. "And what about it is pointless? Every fight makes us stronger and we're getting criminals off the streets."
"And into medical care they shouldn't need. I'm not going to talk this out with you, though, because I know you won't listen." I walked back over to where I'd left my cloak and sword, picking up a pair of objects and tossing one to Ureste. A curved length of wood, roughly the same shape, size and balance of an Aldori duelling sword.
"Ureste Kantrel, on your honour as a disciple of the Aldori Swordlords of Restov, I challenge you to a practice duel and name the disbandment of your gang as my prize."

Ureste paused for a moment, looking me over. I swear to Cayden; if he decides I'm his prize in any way, I'm just gonna grab my real sword and kill him. Finally, he spoke as he picked up the practice blade I'd thrown him. "Your right gauntlet."
"That's all?" I asked. It may sound like a small price, but these gauntlets were a gift from my parents - about the only gift they'd given me that didn't suggest I become a paladin or some other religious warrior. They might be pushy, but they were still my parents and I didn't want to give away half of the one gift from them that I actually liked.
"The right one has an engraving that isn't on the left, it's written in Celestial so I can't read the whole thing, but I do recognise the characters for 'Mother' and 'Father'. I'd guess that it's from your parents - who I believe are still in Mendev - and means a lot to you. My men mean a lot to me so I consider it a fair prize."

I hesitated for a moment. We'd never sparred before, but from what I heard Ureste was at least my equal. Odds were that he was better than me. But I was the one who'd issued the challenge and I couldn't just back out now. Not when the prizes (to an outside party at least) seemed to be in my favour.

"Fine, I accept your named prize." I said, readying my blade. My acceptance also doubled as the signal for the fight to begin. One of the first lessons I'd learnt from Master Larek was that whoever landed the first blow was typically the victor. I rushed forward, swinging my blade in a horizontal swing from my right. It clattered against Ureste's own as he parried my strike up so it would harmlessly pass over his head. A common parry when one couldn't get one's body out of reach of an attack and I was ready, letting him guide my blade up as I turned the strike into a downward blow towards his head. Realising what I was doing, he leapt back, thought I felt my blade graze him.

As he readied his stance again, I saw Ureste touch his face where a faint red scratch ran from just above his eyebrow and down to his cheek. If I'd been using a real blade, that injury would take that eye out of the fight altogether whether the actual organ was damaged or not - all the blood from the top part of the cut would flow down, forcing it shut. Sadly, this wasn't a real fight and all I'd done was scratch him. I did see a faint smile on his face, though - perhaps he'd underestimated me and was glad to be proven wrong.

Whatever it was, I pressed the attack, bringing a two-handed swing from my left this time which he simply blocked, using his off-hand against the back of his sword's 'blade' to help absorb some of the force. Except that the blow never landed as I relaxed my wrist just before impact, shifting my blade past his in a feint that turned into a stab towards his chest. He was quick, though, bringing his sword across his body to parry the stab away. He'd turned too quickly, though, and left his back exposed. I used some of the momentum from his parry to quickly spin myself around and swing from my left once more. This time, his block did work.

He quickly pushed my blade away and retaliated with his own faster than I could follow. I felt the heavy wood hit my left shoulder as it exploded in pain. It was the first time my shoulder had been dislocated like that and all I could experience was pain.

"Don't worry; a good physician should have that arm back in its socket and good as new, provided you don't strain it too much here." I heard Ureste say. I felt some of my pain subside and be replaced with anger at what I knew his next suggestion was going to be. "I'd suggest yielding now, otherwise you might never become a Swordlord."

I calmed myself as I knelt and set my blade on the ground. "I'm not going to surrender," I said as I used my good arm to grab my opposite wrist and bring the hand to my belt. I couldn't move the arm, but I still had control of the hand, which gripped my belt so that it would stay out of the way and wouldn't fly about while I continued fighting. I'd heard stories of one Swordlord who continued by gripping the sleeve of his useless arm in his teeth. I'd have done the same if my top even had sleeves. Picking up my blade and standing again, I faced Ureste. "So bring it - you want to beat me, you're gonna have to do more than a little smack on the shoulder."

I punctuated the remark with a series of rapid strikes aimed at numerous parts of his body - a stab to the chest, a swing at his head, a slash at a knee, an overhand swing at his shoulder then going for his stomach on the backswing. None of them even grazed his clothing. Whatever trouble he'd had blocking and parrying my attacks before was now gone - he somehow knew exactly how I was going to strike and used the bare minimum of movement to protect himself. When he parried hard enough to push my blade well out of position, he struck my right thigh from the side and once more my world consisted of nothing but pain. He'd broken my leg.

As my vision cleared, I found myself lying on my back as Ureste knelt down beside me. "I have to admit, you surprised me," he said, "but I still won so I'll take my prize." I felt him lift my right arm and start to unbuckle the gauntlet. I tried to pull my arm away from him, but it was like my muscles had forgotten how strong they really were. I clenched my hand into a fist to stop him taking it off, which worked for a time. Until he stood and put his foot down on the break in my leg. By the time the gauntlet was off, I was unconscious.

I came to in my room at Master Larek's place. Panicking for a moment, I checked my arm and leg, finding both perfectly fine.

"Hope you're happy, kid," a gruff voice said from the doorway, "had to call in a favour from a healer. Was hopin' to save that for somethin' important." Master Larek was a giant of a man - something all the more surprising when you realised he was a half-elf - and was leaning in the doorway to my room, a bottle of ale in-hand.

"Let me guess," I said, "you followed me?" Larek choked a bit on a mouthful of ale as I spoke.
"W-well I wanted to see what my disciple was capable of, didn't think you'd get your ass kicked that badly." Larek wasn't much of a liar - if he'd been watching the whole fight, I was sure he'd been desperate to help me, but a Swordlord doesn't interfere in their disciple's fights. "So what're you gonna do now? That kid beat the crap outta you and you barely scratched him."
"I'm not giving up, if that's what you're asking."
"Alright, just makin' sure. Oh yeah; he put these in your pocket after you passed out." he handed me a few papers.
"Wait; I don't have any pockets."
"Well he, erm, put them in your, uh... 'lady's pocket'."
"Oh gods! He had his hand in my cleavage?!"
"Well maybe if you wore some normal pants for a change that wouldn't be an issue! Just read the damn letter, I gotta go buy some more booze."

Pushing the mental image of where Ureste had put his hands aside, I read the note.
"Xantria,
Sorry about where I left the letter-
"Well so much for getting rid of that mental image," I remarked out-loud. but I figured you deserved to know what I was doing in that duel. It's a technique I learnt from a swordsman from Minkai, the Seikuken. It uses a deep clarity of mind, combined with a perfect awareness of your own reach and the rhythm of your opponent's attacks to create a sphere of total control around yourself. The diagram on the following page should help.

I know it sounds strange, like it's something every fighter has, but comparing that basic awareness to the Seikuken is like comparing a newly-hatched dragon to an ancient wyrm. I don't know if this is enough for you to learn the Seikuken yourself, but if you ever do manage to master it, I'll be happy to give you a rematch and a chance to win back your gauntlet.

The diagram he provided was basically a person demonstrating the reach of their weapon, with a circle drawn around them to highlight it. I understood the principle but how this 'Seikuken' differed from the basics I had no idea. And yet, whatever difference there was was enough to leave me broken on the ground in just two blows and barely dealing a scratch in return. Whatever gap was between me and Ureste, it wasn't going to be closed with just normal training - I needed real combat experience.

Definitely interested. Would love a human rogue or alchemist, if we be needing such a role. Background puts her as a Surtova noble, hailing from a minor (but ambitious) branch of the family. With the call to explore/claim the southern lands, they see a great opportunity for a foothold in political leverage, and she is sent to represent their interests.

Dotting :) very interested in kingmaker.

Will submit a paladin most likely.

Special Abilities:

Skilled Liar: Whenever a spy uses Bluff to attempt to deceive someone, she gains a bonus on the opposed roll equal to 1/2 her rogue level (minimum +1). This bonus does not apply to feint attempts or attempts to pass secret messages. This ability replaces trapfinding.
Sneak attack (+1d6):If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage. The rogue's attack deals extra damage (called "precision damage") anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Should the rogue score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty. The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.

Traits:

Bastard:You take a –1 penalty on all Charisma-based skill checks made when dealing with members of Brevic nobility but gain a +1 trait bonus on Will saves as a result of your stubbornness and individuality. (The penalty aspect of this trait is removed if you ever manage to establish yourself as a true noble.)

Fencer:You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack of opportunity attack rolls made with daggers, swords, and similar bladed weapons.

Background:

Laius sits near the end of the cell with his body lying upon the cold walls, his red hair accentuated in the dim light. He looks at the man that just entered and says: "My name is Laius, Laius Rogarvia, though you might know me as Laius the fool, or Laius the thief. Well both of these are right, I'm both fool and thief. But before you judge me, at least hear my tale..."
"I was born in a small town near the East Sellen, It was not any different from many other trorough Rostland. Its people toiled in the fields all day long, trough all week. My mother was such, a peasant though she not worked in the fields but rather in a house weaving. She would have a peaceful non-eventfull life, if it wasn't for her beauty. I don't really know how she looked young, my oly memories of her are of an unkept woman cursing the world. But I believe the stories the villagers tell. Thus my mother as a beautiful young woman caught the eye of a certain minor Rorgarvian noble. My father was as far removed from the line of sucesion as one could be and still remain of one family his name was Yasha, and upon seeing my mother he became imediately interested. I'm not completely sure bout what followed, but we all heard some version of the same history, young beautiful girl is taken by rich noble, and is left abandoned with a child. Now that child was me, my mother brought me up alone bringing food to the table with her weaving. Now it's not like her parents simply threw her out, they tried convincing her to marry some guy from town and live so, but she was stubborn you see she was proud. Proud of giving birth to me, she called me her little rorgavian, her little dragon."

Albus shift positions embarassment clear on his face then he continues: "Thus her family was left only capable of giving sparse aid, for most families already struggle to survive. But while my mother worried about each month I grew up mostly happy, I helped in home, played with other children. Yes I met with the dirty bastard reaction, and I got in quite some fights around that time, I also asked myself why didn't my father ever come to see mother or me, but mostly I was happy, life flew during these years. But I grew I learn't the truth that my father cared not neither for my mother or me, that most in the village though of my mother as little better than a whore and liar, not even a single one of them believed the letters my father had left. Well I can't blame them for at least in their content they were lies: words of love and affection." Laius laughs out loud at that then continues: "More like a spell, a trap to keep her bound to him. I was of course furious with my father but that didn't change my life, and so I kept living now helping in my uncle's farm, but while I managed to bring something back that way mother was being left bereft of work, for more reputable if maybe not as good weavers began to take her clients, and as she lost work we began to eat very little most of the year, and she began to go on rambling and crying cursing the world, bemoaning the villagers, but never my father or me. Finaly as things got worse and worse I took my father's letters and travelled to New Stetven using part of the money I got from selling a gold ring my father had given as a present to my mother. it was my first time in a city, i was baffled, and for some moments thought of giving up and turning back, but more than anything my anger spurned me onwards. Though difficult I finally found my father but I couldn't approach him. When I asked for him and showed the letters a servant answered me saying these were proof of nothing, when I tried to protest I was thrown out by the guards who also rent the letters in little pieces."

"Now furious I foolish decided to confront my father directly by going around the guards, well a fool's errand, is still a fool's errand even If the fool is the one telling the story. I got caught and this time they didn't thrown me out they put me in a dungeon cell. My first experience with one but certainly not my last. Still In a way i got what I wanted my hell-spawned father appeared in the dungeons one night, he was drunk, I knew because the smell was terrible, to my surprise he didn't look anything like me except for the hair and the eyes these were the same as mine a combination of yellow and green. when he looked at me he said: So you are the liar boy. Saying you're a man's son like that is bad boy you shouldn't lie eh? Well I answered: [/i]Damn you! Don't you have any shame! We're alone here![/i] Or something along that, I mostly remember his face and my own rage at the time not the exact words, well except for his next ones. These... These I'll never forget: Shut boy! I don't care a s+%+ bout what your whore of a mother told you or what you believe! You are not my son! You're someone's bastard no doubt, but I have no bastards. Now boy, You should be happy I won't kill you! Then he turned around and left, just like that, just like that I met my father and heard the only words he would ever give, words denying me my parentage."

Laius rises from the floor and says: "Well after that I was thrown out of New Stetven with some silver for passage and I think to shut me up as well, desolate I traveled back home, it was a hard voyage, my mind kept going back to these words. They echoed in my head with his voice, then sometimes with my own voice. Still that was the best part of the year for me. For when I arrived I discovered my mother had fallen Ill, she kept herself in the brink of life till the end of the year, but in the first week of the new year she died. And so I was left with nothing in the world for even our small house we had to sell in these last months. We lived with my uncle at that time. After mother's death I wandered for some days in the wilds, surviving mostly by luck than anything else. It was these days that set me upon my path, on a cold morning I was looking at the sky when I decided: If my father and his family denied what was mine, then I would seize it, steal it. That same month I traveled southwards towards the River Kingdoms, I after all could only learn thievery from thiefs. My time there was spent mostly running from one job to the other bogging things up or not, staying in the same place for long was bad. I spent two years there and When I came back to Brevoy I came as a con artist, who targeted nobles, but of course my primary target was my father. Of course if I knew he dould disappear then I would have struck at him before." Laius smiles then add: "Now you know my tale, and as I said I'm both fool and thief, but as the stars see me nad as they see all, I am Laius Rorgarvia and my honor is true."[/b]

Is this is a second KM game you are running or is this deja vu?

Human Cleric of Torag reporting in.
A Rostlander, here to convert the uncultured masses and bring honour to the Father of Creation.

Also interested in joining I have an oracle of lore rolled up with a background concept of a freshly graduated scholar living in Bravoy. I can post every day I work night shift so my posts may be at odd hours.I am currently in 2 PBPs.

Here's my character's stats, and I decided I liked the notion of a bard best. Backstory will be more filled out upon request/if accepted.

As for timing and PbP's... I'm currently involved in five, as well as running one. Most are *quite* slow-paced, so it won't much affect my ability and timing to post. I'm able to post multiple times a day about 95% of the time.

Nevermind, missed the 'no summoners' part. :(

Ah! I've been waiting and hoping for a new Kingmaker to pop up.

I'd like to submit Ser Bregan, a sellsword, cavalier and a bastard who was in a prior Kingmaker PbP that fizzled.

You can even view Bregan's posts for some insight into how he played out.

On The Failed Campaign - Semi-Spoiler:

This particular Kingmaker game - as far as I can tell, only featured the single scene at Oleg's before fizzling. Most of its two months of play transpired in Restov prior to the journey to Oleg's.

If there's no issue with him giving the campaign another go (given he saw all of one encounter from the AP), I'll tidy him up some.

Almost forgot...I can post at least daily/nightly. I am currently in 2 PBP's and running 1 PBP, all for Pathfinder Society. I am very interested in an AP for a change of pace.

Nigel would travel Brevoy in search of allies or work as a scout as he tries to restore his community.

I'm back to at least answer the GM's questions. Crunch to come when I get a chance, perhaps Friday night with luck.

Posting frequency: Once a weeknight works fine for me.
Other PBP's: I'm running one for a private group (the Carrion Crown AP), and I ran one prior (a homebrewed campaign, now over); I am not playing a PC in a PBP at this time, though I've got my eye open for Skull & Shackles here on Paizo's site, too. I've done mostly in-person playing, but find I really enjoy PBP also.

Why My Character Is In Brevoy:
Like I mentioned earlier, I have two character's in mind for this AP, I'll pick one depending on either what the party needs, or if we get a well balanced party, I'll just pick one randomly.

Iozif Kovalov (my swordlord) is from Restov. His father is a swordlord before him, and had his son join the party heading south to reclaim the Stolen Lands. Iozif is here to honor his father's wishes, and to establish a new nation for the prestige of his family, to enhance the legacy of the swordlords, and with some fortune, help build a new nation allied to Rostland.

Aldarion (my treesinger) is a forest sage who lives in the dense woods bordering Rostland and the River Kingdoms. A reclusive hermit, he's garnered some renown in Rostland for his healing abilities, as well as his enigmatic wisdom. His location has positioned him to hear some rumors and murmurings about the goings-on in the south. One of the swordlords heard about Aldarion, and thought he'd make the perfect wilderness guide to the agents heading south and had him sent for. Aldarion, a good-natured soul, has accepted this role and returned to Rostland to receive his charge.

About the Pbp's I'm playing in two, and GMming two. I can always post at least one time a day, can post more if its the case.

Dark Archive

Dotting for interest. Considering a cleric of Abodar with Nobility and Travel as his domains. He would be about fulfilling the precepts of his god by bringing Law and Cities to the wild stolen lands.
Other Pbp's: currently in one,(CotCT, Typhon B'Ru) and applicant for one other that hasn't finished recruitment yet (Shattered Star, Umbryl Char)
Once or twice a day posting is fine with me, usually in the evenings tho.
Also on a side note that might disqualify me, I ran a tabletop Kingmaker, made it to the second book. But I'm pretty good about not metagaming.
Anyway would like to try it as a player, and as nobody plays TTop where I currently live PbP it is. Which I am really enjoying right now.
Will try to get the crunch and fluff together tomorrow
Cheers and good luck all.

0. Download and read the Player's Guide.

Done!

1. Build a character using the crunch below.

Done! In the Alias Profile.

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.

I can promise to post at least once a day. I generally do more like 2-3 when possible.

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.

I play in 2 and GM 1. All are with RL friends that live too far for realy games. I would love a chance to play with people I don't know. :)

4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory).

Done! In the Profile.

Answers to Questions:

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.

I often prefer to post 1-3 times per day for the PbPs that I participate in. Viewing some of my more active aliases should confirm fevered posting and long-term participation on my part.

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.

I have 4 currently active PbPs - Shackled City (1400 posts), a Savage Tide game back from the dead after a year (~200 posts) and two newer games - a Way of the Wicked game (72 posts already) and a Reign of Winter game (64 posts).

4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory).

This is on Bregan's profile page. I invented a lot of NPCs in the backstory and am open to revising anything as needed to more appropriately named NPCs (or organizations/affiliations) in the campaign.

Ultimately I'm looking for a serious Kingmaker game that will run its course and see kingdom building at some point!

Throwing my hat in the ring...I can post daily (sometimes more often), and I'm currently in no other PBPs currently. In the interest of full disclosure, I *have* run a Kingmaker game (with my face-to-face group), but I feel I can keep that knowledge segregated.

Kern Therensgard (Basic Crunch in the profile, will be fully fleshed if accepted) is a Transmuter Wizard with a military mindset. Lawful Neutral, but not a jerk about it (just a very ordered personality who believes in the group above the individual).

Backstory:
Roma Therensgard was Captain of Horse for House Surtova until approximately 25 years ago, when she suddenly resigned and left Brevoy to travel to Lastwall, where she gave birth to a son (Campaign Trait: Bastard)

Her son, Kern, grew up formally educated with a generous stipend from House Surtova. He attended the College of Mysteries in Absolom, showing strong talent and drive, but upon graduation he did not settle down to become a 'working' wizard. Instead, he immediately joined the Lastwall Riders, a border patrol that serves as a first defense and warning from orcish invaders. (Trait: Lastwall Cavalry Rider) Anyone who worked with him could tell he had something to prove.

After 3 years with the riders, Kern travelled to Brevoy, feeling that his excellent academic record and military service would had earn him a place in the Surtova House.

He was bitterly disappointed. His father refused to acknowledge him, and the stipend that had been granted his mother ended on the spot.
When the opportunity to join a chartered exploration group was presented, he leapt at it, seeing it as an opportunity to metaphorically put a stick in the Surtova family's eye by proving that he can make it without them. (He also feels responsible for his mother's loss of income at this stage, and feels that success here will give him the opportunity to replace that income).

Silver Crusade

Dotting, unfortunately can't post an application for at least 24hrs due to a gluttony of uni work.

I went ahead and fully set up Kern's Profile :)

Varun Dantios, lvl 1 human alchemist (Ragechemist archtype) CG

Varun Dantios can be called a force of nature...without any common sense. Proving at the young age of twelve to be a alchemical genius, many felt that he was destined for greatness. Then his...destructive talents revealed themselves, alongside his complete lack of common sense. Incident after incident occured until his noble born parents disowned him and declared him to be a bastard of the house, citing that his mother had been ravished before her wedding and out of charity her husband had raised him as his own son. (This is a lie, and yes Varun caused that much in properity damage)

Unperturbed he sold his talents to various criminals, who not only approved of his "tendancies" but activally encouraged them via paying high sums for his expertise. Then he met Tasha a lovable tiefling thief, who had incidently stolen his heart. Then she was taken to the guardhouse and the guard captain, Kellum was known for his hatred of tieflings. Saying that he would execute her at sundown, Varun realized that there was only one option to save her: An all out assualt on the guardshouse.

With his only friend in the town, a dwarf named Garudin. He attacked the guardshouse. Using a vast amount of bombs and his trusty earth breaker he breached the guardhouse and confronted Kellum. The battle was difficult but in the end Varun won. Getting Tasha to a safehouse before guardsmen from the city arrived at the now destroyed guardhouse, Varun Dantios must find a way to evade "justice". Incidentally a expedition to lands unknown is in the offing and its a good way to keep his head down.

Changed my mind and working on a Imperious Sorcerer with the imperious human optional racial traits. Hoping the leadership feat is allowed in this AP. Timothy is of a minor house and will aspire to become a king or at least major advisor or some such leadership role.

Ardal Lobend here, I can contribute as much as you want. I like to go faster if possible, but whatever pace you want to set is fine by me.

I'm currently in one other game as a player.

Backstory:
It started with a dream. I feel it first. The freezing. The burning. It's pure agony, and I just don't care.
I can't breathe. There's no air, and I can't breathe. I should be suffocating, but I'm not. And though I should, I don't care.
There's no sound. None. My heart isn't even beating. Do I even still have a heart? It's normal. It feels "right".
I open my eyes to blackness. Pinpoints of light, far, far away. The stars. I am nowhere. I'm in the void. And through it all, I don't care.
I hear it then, from inside myself. A lullaby. I realize then, that I'm sleeping. Not myself mind you, but "I" am sleeping in the dream. I have been sleeping for eons. And when I wake, I'll destroy all of creation. Again.
That's when I woke in my bed screaming. A terrible dream to have. I thought nothing of it. I continued my life as a noble merchant. That night, it happened again. And again the next night. And again. And again...
Every night, the same dream. The same lullaby. I started to do everything I could to keep from sleeping. I lost everything. My job. My wife. Everything. The townsfolk thought I'd gone mad. Maybe they were right.
I left town to head north, to the unsettled lands in search of a new life. I traveled alone. The powers started to manifest soon afterward.
I can pull the void into this world. I feel strangely at peace with myself when I do it. In reality, it scares the hell out of me. I'm losing touch with humanity the more I do it. I use the powers to protect myself. I've killed creatures, men, animals...and I should care. But I don't. And that scares me.
I find that I need people now. I need to hear them laugh, and cry and seethe and rage and love. Without them, I might lose my humanity.

Ardal has joined with a group of explorers in an attempt to tame the land...and his own nightmares.

Super excited to try out this character. More detailed backstory and character sheet in the profile.

Maja Weatherseed is a separatist Cleric of Erastil, who doesn't think her faith and her community's treatment of women are really compatible with Erastil's beliefs in community and strength - women may be different, but they're certainly not weak mothers who stay at home and are unable to protect themselves. She's looking to prove herself equal to male priests of Erastil and to create a homeland receptive to her beliefs.

Councilor or Treasurer are her more natural roles. Marshal could work if she needs to start leading both men and women into the battlefield.

I can post once per day easily, twice on weekdays is much more normal.

Other PBPs: Mana Wastes homebrew (active); Way of the Wicked (brief pause); experimental Lovecraftian puzzle game (active).

Submitted for your approval all data under the alias.

0. Check.

2. Once a day during the week with the odd gap if things go crazy in RL.
3. 8. Though some of them are quite slow moving.
4. Under alias. Short version he is an embarrassment to his family and they sent him out to die.

Question for you Tallgrass. Why is this your last pbp here?

if I am selected I want the role of grand alchemist/general, who better to lead the troops into battle then an enraged chemist?

Forgot to add - the player's guide mentions rumors about ruins and lost temples dedicated to Erastil in the wilderness (the inspiration for this character in the first place).

Assuming these show up during the campaign, I thought it would be entertaining if Maja found evidence in these ruins that confirms or undermines her non-traditional beliefs.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Hey everyone - great concepts here. In the interest of making sure I don't miss any questions, please PM if you have something specific you'd like to ask.

In response to Caelius - this is my last PBP because I can't imagine running more than three games at one time. That'd be more work and time than I could spend!

Oh so last game you are running at the moment.. Not last game ever because I am moving to Sedona in an attempt to use the vortices to access another dimension.

It is all clear now.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Who told you about Sedona?!

Nice.

Oh just realized I forgot to choose a noble house for Caelius. I am not wed to any of them so is it OK to leave it open and see what would be most interesting given the other bluebloods in the party. Unless you have a preference Mr. Tallgrass? (Assuming Caelius is chosen of course.)

would like Gavin to be considered

Lantern Lodge

I have an interest in this game. The only AP I actually care about playing through and I have yet to get into it. I will be back with a character.

Silver Crusade

Could an individual use Sword Scion and use a scimitar instead of a longsword or Aldori Dueling Sword. I have an idea for a Dawnflower Dervish, and the Sword Scion would be perfect, though I might just do noble born.

I would like to be considered for this game. I am, as of this post, not currently in any PBP games.

The character I submit for review is:

Bran Oathsield

Background:

When Bran was still a young and beardless dwarf he was orphaned by Bandits near the village of Restov. Though the bandits left the child for dead in the Rostland plains his dwarven heritage and keen intellect kept him alive for three days until he was found by a blacksmith from Restov who was travelling to New Stetven to buy supplies for his forge. The smith, called Rorin, taught Bran everything he knew and treated him as a son until his dying day.

Bran had a keen talent for engineering that did not go unnoticed by Rorin, who had Bran study up on the subject in the hopes that such a talent would not go waste. Unfortunately, the small village of Restov had neither the resources or the need for an engineer so Bran mostly worked with Rorin at the forge, but never stopped studying engineering.

When Rorin passed Bran decided it was time to leave the village, without Rorin he no longer had ties to the land, but he would never forget the kindness of those who welcomed him when Rorin brought him in. The day the messenger came to village calling for explorers to enter the Greenbelt Bran saw it as a way to find his own path and give something back to the country that he called home. He picked up his dwarven warxe, the only thing he had left of hist birth parents, and the armor Rorin had forged for him during his very short time as a village guard then made preparations for the journey.

Oh yea, questions.

2. I generally check pbp stuff at least once a day, more if it's actually moving!
3. Running one, playing one. Also running one irl.
4. From Rostland, here to convert the masses in the name of Torag!

I would like Mason Kendry to be considered

Currently working on his backstory and all his stats in his profile. I am currently not in any active PBP game and I can post at least on a daily basis. My character's reason to be the area will be included in his profile.

forgot to reload my browser so here is the profile that I am submitting.

EDIT: Backstory and basic stats on are the profile, just need to work on equipment.

Here's the profile for my aasimar swordlord (Appearance and personality are there and I'll add the backstory and duel from my previous post there later today). Probably not complete, but as I've said, she's fully stated out on Myth Weavers and should be easy enough to transfer the stats over.

EDIT: Avatar image is as close as I could find, a picture of her actual appearance is linked in her profile.

This is Chakka's submission. Cromwell cleric of Abodar. Am still working on stats and backstory but almost done.XD

Posting Caelus Vraie, Aldori Swordlord in training. Secretly looking for his adopted brother whom was last seen in the stolen lands. Everything else is included in the alias

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.

I can be expected to regularly post more than once a day on weekdays and at least once a day on weekends.

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.

Four. Two PFS. One may have stalled out though, haven't heard much from the GM in a while.

4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory).

Backstory:

As a young child Urlich Medvyed was a typical son of a noble family far enough from major position to live a pampered yet not very exciting life. However, when puberty hit, his growth outpaced his peers greatly, and he had a full beard and body-hair by age thirteen. Teased by his peers and with a newfound lack of control, anger started to build. He became destructive and violent around the manor, eventually injuring a younger cousin and a servant in a fit of rage. His anger was fearsome to behold, and considered ill-fitting for a young nobleman. Due to his size, hairiness, and temper people began calling him the Bear behind his back, and eventually it became a nickname for his rage even to his face.

Knowing that he was losing control, embarrassing the family, and growing angrier by the day, Ulrich found a way to escape and vent his rage outside of his refined lifestyle. Daily, he would sneak out of the manner, dress as a peasant and run with the street-toughs. Openly calling himself the Bear, he was a fearsome fighter, especially as he grew to control his rage and focus it. For years this worked, with his dual existence allowing him to be less of an outcast at home and almost a hero in the streets.

His two worlds collided, however, when the streets became too violent, and as the Watch was trying to break up a fight the Bear injured one and was beaten badly during the arrest. Scandal arose once it was determined who the Bear was... the young lord Ulrich Medvyed. Shaming the family and becoming an even greater outcast, the commission into the Stolen Lands is exactly what the Bear needs. Freedom from the confines of his manner and a way to win back honor to his name in a way that all could approve of. Ulrich volunteered immediately, lending his name to bring prestige to the expedition while hopefully starting a better life for himself... one that can embrace both the Bear and Ulrich.

Ulrich is built to fill the "tank" and primary fighter roll, though he will continue to develop his skills in ways that will assist the party outside of combat as well.

i'd be willing to give it a try... a goblin?
