i'd be willing to give it a try... need a goblin

Done. dotting to move up my list.
luck all

I am submitting my Gnome Bard, Zarzutor. He is a quirky little guy that loves to learn as much as he can, and use his own experiences to weave his own unique stories. His goal is to become well known for his tales.

All of his crunch is on this Alias(he's been made for other Kingmakers, but has yet to be selected.)

I am able to post pretty much every day as long as I'm awake, whether I'm at work or not.

I'm currently in no PBP's because the two I was in have died. :C

Backstory+How he found out about the expedition to the stolen lands:
Growing up, Zarzutor was fascinated with the storytellers that would visit his town. They would share stories of grand adventure and epic encounters. He was led to believe that the more you know, the better stories you could tell. So he began his adventure to learn everything he could, and to create his own stories.

While trading some new tales with a fellow bard he met, he learrned of these expeditions out into the Stolen Lands and made his way as fast as he could to join one of them. What better way to learn new stories than to live them yourself.

I have a few characters that I've been dying to run, but want to ask you, GM, about them first.

I'd like to try out a False Priest. If he'd need to be a Priest of Razmar, in brevoy to spread the message of the living god, that's cool, but a Charasmatic cult-leader type who worships a non-existant god who's existence he proves via his miracles sorcery would be all kinds of fun! Going EH empryal for eventual channeling, He'd be super pleasant just thinks he's talking to a god when he's really a sorcerer!

I'm also working on a Bard right now, trying to pick a style, and archetype, but he'd either be a bastard, or Orlovski noble-born who avoids conflict when possible, preferring more eloquent methods, and when necessary, cracks the whip on enemies cause it seems fun. but i don't know much about the character and how to build him, cause Bards can take all kinds of rolls! Leaning toward an archivist, bookish and settign out for adventure with a head full of brains and shoes full of feat!

These two I'd really love to play, but kinda are limited in terms of what games they can fit into...
One is a "barbarian" (by culture not class, which is Ranger) descended from Westerners (Varisia). Exiled from their tribe, the family came east, finding a place in Numeria. (Not sure how welcoming/forgiving they are of Orc-taint in the blood, but i know the Shoanti have a serious problem with it.) I really want to try the Thunder and Fang style, but it's tough to find a place where I could play it.

There's also an twist on a character I'm playing, a LN cleric of Asmodeus, not particularly Evily inclined, but rather focuses on the Law aspect and appreciates the power of devils, but again, not a lot of places it can fit, and depends on the players.

Experience
I've played a bit of a highly edited version of the end of the first book, and the start of the the second, but it's not likely to be like the actual AP, and i can separate player form character knowledge when there are similarities.

I post at least once a day, when I'm busy, and can usually toss out a few throughout the day, and in the evenings. I'm pacific coast time-zone for reference to when evening is.

Currently I am in one other PBP, but if it's a post or three a day, i'll have no problem keeping up. I do get busy, and can only get one post up, but that's not too terribly often. =]

Finally ready to apply. Timothy the Charismatic at your service, ready to charm the wilds.

I can easily post daily, even on weekend though it seems from all my other games weekend is when not many posts get made by anyone. :)

I'm in half a dozen games that are normal post a day pace and four more that are slower. I love pathfinder :D

Why is my character in Brevoy? Why, read on... :)

Personality/Appearance:

Timothy is a 6'1" tall, 150lbs, blue eyed, blonde haired, tall standing and self-important man. His long hair is perfectly looked after and straight. Clothes spotless. He takes great pride in his appearance, no matter what he is wearing he will wear it like a king. He has joined the expedition with the hopes of making a new name for himself to become a noble, even high advisor of the new lands. He has left many friends behind, a hard thing for Timothy who was veey popular in his town. He is fair and enjoys a joke and a quip. He is not skilled with life in the wild and will have to learn much as his relatively soft life changes. He knows of the dangers of the land and is no child. He is always ready to use his magics when discussion fails.

Backstory:

Timothy's life began one unfortunate night when a drunk nobleman of House Lebeda took a small fancy to a young and very pretty servant. She was an obediant girl and did not resist, having her own little crush on the stupid noble and not entirely unskilled with men. You can guess what happened. When it was found she was pregnant she was dismissed from service without notice and was out on the streets. Cursing the nobleman for her situation she looked for work as a maid for anyone willing to hire her. Luckily one old couple took her in and Timothy's mother, Sylvia, had a place to stay. She served him and his wife faithfully for many years.

She tried to keep the secret of his father from Timothy but when he found the fancy hankerchief she kept hidden she told him everything. It was a lot for a boy of ten years to take in. But finally he knew who his father was. He was warned never to show himself or reveal his bastard self to the nobility or risk their retaliation on them for his insolence. What he didn't know was that his mother came from an even more noble and powerful line, centuries ago to long passed away kings and queens of the River Kingdom and Brevoy lands. The combination of his known and secret nobility was a slow catalyst that burned inside Timothy every day. He 'knew' that he deserved better than he had and he was not content to sit and enjoy the rather comfortable life he lived growing up in the countryside of Silverhall.

He discovered his own magical gifts at 16 and taught himself, drawing on his secret bloodline to fuel his experiments. When asking a wizard to help him he was dismissed when the wizard discovered his sorcery, unwilling to teach one so unteachable. He resolved to learn on his own. Much to his surprise he is aided by the old man who tells Timothy of his younger days of travel and adventure as a bard. He teaches Timothy how to convey himself to others and speak in a way to influence others in the most advantageous way for all, especially himself. Timothy takes in everything the old man shows him with natural skill.

The old man and woman both pass away the same year, leaving their small estate to Sylvia as they had no other family. Sylvia and Timothy had become their only family and Sylvia now looked after everything and hired several servants of her own to improve the place. Timothy was saddened for several months and kept mostly to himself, hardly eating. Everyone was worried for his health but nothing they did could rouse him from the pit until one day. He decided he could no longer stay a commoner. He would use his new resources courtesy of the recently deceased (bless their souls) and claim his right as a noble. Fate had a different plan for young Timothy. He was rejected by every official he saw, thrown out when he refused to leave. Nothing he could say, no words he uttered could make them change their minds and he dared use no magic in trying to do so. He was a bastard to them and would always be, every evidence of his was refused or ignored.

After one week he ran out of options. He would have to return to his mother defeated and common. On the evening before he planned to leave however, he heard news of an expedition called to secure the lands to the south and another idea came to him. Sieze this opportunity. Become a noble in this recovered land that he himself would help secure. His secret bloodline called to him along with his own desires for greatness and he decided this was his destiny. In the morning he signed one of the charters, discarding his previous claims. He would make his own way into nobility. He would give his mother the same and they would finally reclaim their ancient blood rights.

But first, breakfast.

My rule is to post once a day, but I can usually manage more then that.

I'm currently not playing in any pbp, I'm gm'ing one, soon two once character creation is finished

I post multiple times per day. The paizo boards are open on my computer from 7am-4pm at work M-F. Weekends I check and get a post in unless out of town.

I am in one active play by post. Two that I was in the DM's just left, Both with RL reasons though, and the third has slowed way down, but its a one shot modual that will end in a week or so.

Lantern Lodge

I can't seem to download the players guide on my phone. If recruitment is still open on saturday, I should be able to access a real computer then and post up everything.

All righty, everyone. We've got a great group gathered here. It's going to be a tough decision once again. I'll give folks through the weekend to get their concept posted and questions answered.

Here's the current list of applicants. Please let me know if I've missed you.

If you've submitted multiple characters, I chose the one I liked the most. If you disagree with my choice, please let me know. Disagreeing will not affect your selection - I like players who stand up for their choices. Before I mercilessly kill their choice, of course.

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.
one - three depending on the day

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.

three
4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory)

A goblin who wonder into Bringard trying to find a way to show the tribe that he should be a king.. even thought they'd chase him away. You know its not natural for a goblin to want to read the books rather that eat or burn them. After barely surviving on his skills during his 1st few months he learned a few things and was thinking that he could just might make it here. Then one day he was in the park and found the steal of a life time a young alchemist bag, a why to be more than just a trap disabler. When he realized what he had he decide to run for his life before they found out.. he volunteer his skilling a trap finder alchemist... using aid old attadge i'm a goblin i'm expendable...

1. Build a character using the crunch below-> Alexander

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game-> Should be able to post every day at least once.

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing-> Only one, however I want to be up front and tell you I have played/GMd kingmaker before. We where only able to explore a couple of hexes before the game broke up even after I stepped in to try and keep it together as GM. So I am fairly well read up on the first but not the the rest of the books in the series but I know how to keep player and character knowledge separate.

4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands-> Should be covered by my back-story in the link above but I will add that the Lebeda family isn't especially worried about Alexander's expedition into the river kingdom since he is effectively funding it on his own and they see it as a fools errand. They did front cash in the form of a loan but it was in exchange for family heirlooms held by his branch of the family but at less then a quarter of their actual value. He hopes to be successful and pay off the loan. Hope to take part in the up coming game.

I am having a bit of trouble with the background but it is slowly comming along.

If you want/need more info for Xantria, let me know. I've got some other info on Ureste (the other Swordlord apprentice she fought) lying around somewhere for a start.

If allowed, I would also like to submit, Chiron Starwatcher. I may have to rebuild him a bit to fit the parameters, but I found him among my aliases and remembered how much I had looked forward to playing him.

If he is too much, I hope you will still consider Höd.

GM Tallgrass wrote:

I should be able to get Aldarion completed in time, probably tomorrow night or Sunday the latest.

Hehe, well I've got no problem with you choosing my druid. We have a few other swordlord applicants anyway, and there are no other druids so far. Seems like I'm not the only one who thinks a swordlord is a great choice for this particular AP... then again, a druid also seems like a great choice for this AP to me as well.

Swordlords are perfect for the setting!

Alright got most of my characters fluff ready to go. Can't really stat him up right now since my internet access is in an out and I dont have my books with me. I'll try to get it up tomorrow though before you make your decisions.

As Saren walked through the streets of Brevory he recalled the events leading up to this point, Hopefully a turning point, This is it, this is my retirement. The aging vampire hunter thought, clenching a piece of paper in his fist, as he headed back to his house to collect his things and prepare for one final adventure.

He begins packing up all of the small things he used to carry with him before he became a teacher. All the small “useless” ends that always seemed to be handy whenever he didn’t have them on hand. Seeing all these items brought back the memories of his youth, running around fighting the undead with his father across the land. He always had a strange way of dealing with his enemies, always saying the undead were easily tricked, leaving themselves open too much. The words ringed through Saren’s head for the millionth time, ”Keep your guard up, take your time, focus, then… Rip their head off!” Hu chuckled a bit at the memory. That was the first time he actually saw his father kill a zombie.

Once he was done finishing up packing the small things he headed to his institute. To collect the last of his belongings before heading off, his collection of daggers he inherited from his father after he died to a lich many many years ago. After his father died, Saren decided that he would retire from bounty hunting and start teaching others who would be interested in learning his strange techniques.

He travelled across the country stopping in towns trying to set up a school to teach those interest. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to find any place with enough interest to make a living. With the last of his father’s saving he moved to Brevory with one last attempt to open a school to teach his father’s style of unarmed defensive fighting.

At first there was a ton of interest, but the techniques were not easily learnable by the majority of people, as such business dropped off and he was now forced to close the school. Today was that day, the last day he was open. Saren grabbed his daggers and the key and walked outside and locked the door. He wasn’t sure whether to be happy or sad. He lived a long life and a taught a few good students, and now he was going to go and settle the wilds. What did the gods have in store for him?

Saren grabbed his backpack and tucked in his daggers into the folds of his cloak and headed towards the rendezvous point, not looking back, a smile on aged face.

Appearance & Personality:
Saren has aged well, he only looks to be about 40 years of age, but he is actually 58. He is of medium height and at one time he had a very strong build, but age has taken its toll on him and can be seen. But this works to his advantage as he appears to be an easy target and those who have attacked him in the past have learned a hard lesson. Saren is a very patient person after having to teach so many students, and rarely if ever yells. The only way to tell he is mad is when he is completely silent and avoids eye contacts.

BIO:

Born in the Northern territories of Brevoy, to Jorric the Bold and Alyna the Red. He was raised on tales of his Kellid ancestors, powerful tribes of Barbarians who once ruled the Riverlands and beyond. And how all of his birthright was stolen by the Surtova’s and their southrun ilk.

On his 13th birthday, his parents revealed a prophecy. A barbarian male of their tribe would unite the tribes and lead them to reclaim their ancestral home. The promised savior would be blessed by the ancestors with incredible powers when things seemed at their worse for him.

Now, he seeks to fulfill his destiny in the lordless lands of the Greenbelt.

Personality: Brave, arrogant (he’d say over-confident), a bit dense, but perceptive. Angskar is always willing to be first into battle, hesitant to withdraw, and easy to anger.

Plan: Angskar will be taking oracle levels starting at level 3 until 6, when he will begin taking Rage Prophet levels.

I don't know if you're still accepting applicants, but I will offer my honor guard/strategist cavalier just in case. Good luck to everyone!

Osmond is a very frontline cavalier. A former soldier, he excels at holding the line and shielding others with him.

I can post daily without much issue.
I'm currently running two PbP, but not playing any.
My full backstory is in the profile, but here's a summary:

Osmond is in Brevoy thanks to his mother. He recently of his mother, a noble in Brevoy, and that he was born out of wedlock. His mother tasks him with joining the charter groups. He accepts as a way to prove himself to her and hopefully gain her acceptance. Unbeknownst to him, she is secretly expecting to send him to his death.

Here is my submission, the background isn't as good as I would have liked, but it just isn't flowing. I am playing in 3 games as it is and gm'ing a few more. He reasons to be in brevoy shold be in his background, but if you have any questions let me know. I should be able to post once a day.

Background:

Multiple candles and a roaring fire illuminated the room as the old woman put down her goose quill looking at the illustrated paper before her. “What are you working on this late mother?“ a young dark haired man leaning against the doorframe asked. “I am securing the story of your father for future generations.” She smiled a tired smile as she answered her son. “But why now father died years ago?” came the reply. “House Garess is spreading filthy lies now that your grandmother Lady Ionnia finally died.” She answered not trying to hide her contempt.

Stiff from the long hours spent in front of the writing desk she moved to a more comfortable chair by the fireplace. “Let me tell you the real story about your father at least as much as I know,” she began and pointed to another chair. “Your father was born on the slopes of the Golushkin Mountains into the House Garess, that much you know.” She paused and then continued: “He was the result of an affair between your grandmother and a Numerian tribesman.”“Was father a bastard?” The young man burst out. “Yes,” his mother answered. ”Yet the blood of House Garess flowed strong in his veins and yours for that matter. The story goes that your great-grandfather acknowledged this before he scolded his daughter,” she continued.

She reached for a goblet and poured herself a glass of wine before returning to her story. “Your father never talked much about his youth. I think, it saddened him, that he chose to leave, but he did, what he thought would protect your grandmother. That is why he came to these lands.”

Letting her words sink in, she took a sip of her wine. ”In fact your father only told me one story about his childhood, must have been a 7-8 years old. A dwarf set out to hunt in the mountains and your father followed him. The old geezer let him tag along but made him work hard for it. Your father used to gets this smile when he told the story, I think it is one of his happiest childhood memories.”

Appearance:

Age: 18 (Adult)
Size: Medium, 6’1”, 221 lbs.
Type: Humanoid (Human)

The young Vors’ mixed heritage couldn’t be kept a secret in his late teen’s. The boy was taller than most of the other Talden men and marked brawnier. The classic bronze skin tone and brown hair helped maintain the illusion in his childhood but his steel grey eyes had that Kellish hue.

Silver Crusade

Oh, also, I can post 2-3 times per day and I'm in only 1 other PBP campaign, but it's PFS and it's almost over.

Alderast Taavra of Medvyed:

Alderast is a scion of Truth, and servant of the Light. This enlightened Truth is principle that binds the gods and their angelic and fiendish servants, it is infinite and incomprehensible, yet as real as the power he wields in its name. The light shines in the darkness and banishes it from this world and others, opening the gateways to happiness, joy, and peace. WIth his optimistic message and silvered tongue and healing touch, he became an integral part of the Medvied house, serving as a religious consultant, healer, and confessor, his words calming the lesser nobles and advice leaving them with feelings of joy.

Yet Alderast is discontented with his lot within Brevoy, and when the call went out to cleanse the Stolen Lands, he jumped at the chance to spread his message to this savage country and convinced his benefactors that it was Divine provinence that opened this opportunity to him and that his success woudl bring great honor to the Medvyed for having supported him in his righteous mission.

The Truth about Alderast
It is unclear, even to him wether Alderast was always a mad-man, touched in the head due to his fey powers or sorcery, or concocting his theories based on muddled memory from his past lives which coalesced to form his belief system, or he spent so much of his life preaching his fabricated teachings that he began to believe them himself.
Whatever the case, the result is the same. Alderast legitimately believes himself a divine servant of some sort of higher truth beyond even the gods. Maybe he's right and there is something greater, maybe he's just delusional, but either way, he is a believer. He spreads his message via practices of kindness, charity, and joy with understanding, tolerance, and and openness to new ideas, unlike other fanatics and charlatans out there. He has no desire for power, fame, and wealth, and does not take issue with other worshipers, as he is no atheist, he just serves something different.

Build Notes
Alderast works as an Off-healer/Support, using Enchantments heavily, and conjuration/summons for combat starting at 3rd, re-training Sleep at 4th. Out of Combat he functions as a Face-man looking to be a Councilor, Diplomat, or Priest in the kingdom.
I could make a more heavily optimized build with a Human or other race, if it's not on par with other characters with some minor tweeks, but I likes Samsaran for the flavor and the Half-remembered religion.

GM Tallgrass - Halfway there on Aldarion, just wanted to ask a couple of questions. First, would a middle-aged character be acceptable? I see my treesinger as a wiser older kind of guy. Second, are armor pieces allowed (as per Ultimate Combat)? I see him with a wooden cuirass over thick cloth armor (e.g. padded arm and leg armor, with wooden torso armor). I like the wooden armor idea for character concept purposes, but the full wooden suit will push his encumbrance over the limit into a Medium load and slow him down. Statwise, it lowers his AC bonus by 1 compared with regular wooden armor, in exchange for less weight, so it's a balanced trade... especially considering I could get regular leather armor for less cost, less weight, the same AC bonus, and suffer no check penalty.

Best of luck to everyone!

Greetings. I know you're going through the submissions today, but you did say there was time to get in, so here goes. Feel free to ding me for being late. :(

2. Share how often you can post/contribute to the game. I don't want to put unrealistic expectations on the group, but I'd like to shoot for one post per day on weekdays. If we go faster, I'm down with that.
I can, and will, post 2-3 times a day. That said I won't hog the spotlight if the game is moving more slowly than that. It's about the group having fun, not just me.

3. Share how many other PBPs you're currently playing.
I'm playing in two and running a third. I'm tapping out at four total, and this would be my fourth if I'm lucky enough to get into your game.

4. Share why your character is in Brevoy and how he/she became a part of a chartered group to explore and settle the Stolen Lands (aka your backstory).
I've posted it in my alias, but I've also noted it below for your convenience.

history:
Elm'bel (his original name) lived many years in Kyonin, peacefully contemplating and studying the various bits of knowledge his people had accumulated. He was beginning to grow bored with his contemplative studies when a fierce and powerful barbarian lord brashed his way through the elven lands. His presence struck the naive Elm'bel forcefully and made the youth re-evaluate his role in life.

He found himself wanting. He immediately emulated the powerful barbarian in every way he could - beginning with his appearance. He tattooed his face and body - sometimes resorting to the ritual scarring that was so prevalent on the barbarian. He even cropped his hair short for a time, though that didn't last.

He changed his name to Bibic - short and guttural like the barbarian he fancied. He sold all the equipment he had to that point, bought himself a nice bow and quivers full of arrows. He was spurned by his own people as having gone native and so he travelled north to Brevoy to see what these barbaric humans were about.

What he found there surprised him. The barbarian who had come through was far more barbaric than the humans in this, relatively, cosmopolitan place. In fact he came to better appreciate the differing cultures - no longer was he so elven-centric.

Unfortunately his lack of wealth hurt him. He fell in with a rough crowd, and while he was able to talk his way out of the worst of it, he finds that he must leave the civilized lands and head back south. Luckily there seems to be some sort of expedition in the hinter-lands that just might do the trick...

Thanks for the opportunity, and good luck choosing a great team!

Here's Kartari's treesinger. I'll fill in more as we go, but everything is basically here.

We are need of two additional players in this game. We need a skilled character and an arcane character.

We're still quite early in the adventure, so it'd be a good, natural time to come in.

Shoot me a direct message with your concept if you're interested.

Thanks, everyone!

Just wondering, what Traits were taken by the other players?

We got both spots filled. Thanks, everyone.
