Happy new year to you too, and to all the rest of you.

I don't mind one way or the other.

He's pretty findy.
Sorry about my posting I was juggling a lot of stuff over winter break. I didnt expect it to eat up as much time as it did, but I should be good to go now. Ill try to let everybody know ahead of time when that happens from now on.

Sorry I'm not posting much... I got a headache that's feels like it's about to split my skull for the past few days. I even left work early yesterday to get some extra sleep.
A couple more days and I should be back 100%.

I want to contribute to the current scene, but I don't really remember what we wanted from Zazzle... I thought we had agreed to help Fruggig in exchange for information about the sabotages.
It's possible that I lost track of our goals at some point. :P

I think Raleigh has the most consistently godawful rolls out of every alias I have. I know that sounds like complaining, but I'm honestly impressed. Still hasn't beaten my gunslinger losing four full attacks in rapid succession. You know how bad it has to be to miss as a mid-level gunslinger?

Haha, so once during a session my 15th-level Warblade in the Anauroch: Empire of Shade adventure we were fighting some sort of dust/fire elemental things in a dungeon and they had 20% concealment. My character said, "that's not so bad" and proceeded to miss due to concealment on 12 of his next 15 attacks. Friend who was GMing at the time still brings it up sometimes.

Admittedly the announcement distracted me for a while.
Really though the beast house is our only loose end. So do we want to sneak in or just buy tickets?
CrusaderWolf |
Sorry, I'm learning to design a website for my other job and Squarespace is...not as intuitive as I'd hoped. 2e is still over a year away I don't plan on interrupting the game if it can be helped. We've all got Pathfinder system knowledge so I'm not going to have us switch edition rulesets or anything goofy like that.
Tilos would definitely prefer to avoid explicit breaking-and-entering (Minvandu ruthlessly exploits the law and allegedly has an 'in' with the Order of the Nail) and he'll buy the tickets since you're attending as part of the job, but he'll defer to you if you make a good case for sneaking in.
Borumaru |
I, for one, don't much care of PF2e. I''ll probably give it a try at some point, but I'll be glad to delay that point as much as possible.

I have several hundred dollars worth of PF material that appreciates staying with Pathfinder. That cash mysteriously stopped flowing in from my account after I made the mistake of buying the first printing of the ACG.
I'll go with the majority since it looks pretty unanimous here, but we do still have the lead Raleigh picked up from Lord Deverin about the cult as well.

I think it's time for me to face the music. I do a lot of campaign work, and in addition to my regular job I'm currently working part-time for two local races and the primary is coming up in just over a month.
Given all this, I'm not able to keep up with the demands of GMing and I don't want to keep stringing y'all along, so I think it best if we retire the campaign. I'm sorry for my lackluster posting rate the last couple of months, you're a good group and deserve a regular, consistent game. I hope it was a positive experience on balance.

It's too bad, but I understand. Hope things work out for you and you are able to return to online gaming in the future.
I'll miss Uuzkhangr. It's hard to find a GM that will let you play a duergar! Perhaps I can recycle him into another game.
Don't forget to mark the game as inactive when you're finished signing off.

So the outline of the plot:
I was inspired by the plot hooks about Ilvarandin & the intellect devourers from Lost Cities of Golarion and Magnimar, City of Monuments. The intellect devourers are the primary antagonists.
The basic idea is that the devourers have been fighting a long war against the neothelids in the next vault over and they've been slowly losing. So a cabal of devourers devised a drug called Midnight Milk linked to an artifact called Midnight Lens. Creatures that use the drug experience bizarre, addictive dreams as the drug helps their mind wander free of their bodies, moving towards Ilvarandin. If your dreaming mind touches the Midnight Lens a nearby intellect devourer can use it to transport itself directly into your skull, killing you and taking over your body (without leaving obvious head wounds). In this way they could acquire powerful bodies to 'pilot' into battle against the neothelids' armies.
The investigation the party was doing is unrelated to this at first: the culprit tormenting the Deverins is an imp (former familiar of the wizard who died in the Hells) leading a small squad of vexgits. But during the investigation of that I was seeding elements of the bigger arc that would matter later; the manticore in the sewers was drugged with Midnight Milk, while Minvandu was Charmed and started collecting monsters at one of the devourer's suggestion. All the truly dangerous creatures were drugged and claimed by the devourers, leaving weaker creatures to the arena (it would have been a good challenge for you guys at 4th level). Another link would have been the wererat (controlled by a devourer) who stole the gunpowder from the ship--bombs and bullets would be valuable against the neothelids.
The dogmonsters and alchemical zombies were made by a small clan of derro who the disguised devourers have persuaded to produce a local supply of Midnight Milk; that was going to be the hook that directed the party deeper into the Darklands to trace the drug back to its source. Starting at about 6th level you'd be traversing the Darklands, including a planned visit to Uuzkhangr's hometown since they would control a critical stretch of tunnel. By about 8th level you'd reach Ilvarandin itself and have to navigate its very unfriendly local politics while you gathered information and/or strength to go after the intellect devourers' seat of power, where the Midnight Lens is held. That section was planned to be very sand-boxy. The campaign would have probably concluded around level 15-16 (an eternity in PBP time, I realize)
So there it is, the campaign arc in a nutshell.
