Ah sorry Jack in that case you rolled just high enough, but in the future doing searches like this tell me you are going inside a room to search it, otherwise I assume you stand in the door and look around.
Jacks' search of the room reveals a few drops of blood trailing from the windowsill towards the door furthest from the window. The door is slightly ajar and inside you can see a washroom.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Mirabella moves with Jack and Canacha into the room, ready to aid them if things turn ugly. She takes care to stay behind them.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack turns to Canacha and Mirabella, pointing for them to watch the window. Then he takes a moment to check the washroom doorway for traps before trying to push the door fully open.

Ops I thought I had answered.
At first glance the washroom looks normal, but as Jsck gets near the mirror he notices that there is space between the wall and it, which Jack can pull open.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack motions to Canacha and Bicks, pointing out his discovery; then he points back to the open window for them to maintain their vigil. The urban ranger then examines the mirror for traps, not certain if he's found a secret cubbyhole or possibly a way into and out of the apartment.

Following Jacks point she moved a bit closer to the window and carefully peered around it, at it, then leaning forward peered out it to see what she could see from the window.

She whispered lowly.

Logan was the last one left in reception and he was starting to get a bit antsy, the others had been a while now. So he decided to head on up and see what the fuss was about.

Jack doesn't find any traps and opens the hidden path behind the door. Jack finds a secret room carved out from the stone not more then a few feet high, not high enough for a normal human to be standing upright. The room is furnished with a fine quality rug and larges pillows for sitting, there are heeps of books around and some kind of pedistal meant for holding something.

Canacha as you look out the window of a clear Kintargo morning with the mist from the sea burnt away by the sun, you suddenly feel a sharp pain in your right side as a bladed weapon slashes into your flesh. The man attacking you becomes visible from thin air, he looks like this Varl Vex you are looking for and his blade is growing red as it tastes your blood, you notice the wound is bleeding more than it should be. She hollered out in a slight panic clutching her side suddenly really worried about her the blood pouring from her.
"Its bad."
She added in a whisper going even paler than well pale.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

Whirling, Mirabella gasps in surprise at the sudden attack. Her first instinct is to heal Canahca's bleeding wound, but then she remembers that her friend does not respond well to positive energy.
Instead, she focuses her attention on the attacker. The sight of the glowing blade, dripping with Canacha's blood, sends a shudder down her spine - and gives her an idea.
"That sure is a terribly sharp blade you have there, Varl Vex! And we're here to take it from you, so you can't hurt anyone else with it. I suggest you find somewhere safe to lock it away, if you want to keep it."

Jack bursts from the bathroom, interposing himself between Canacha and her attacker while stabbing once at the man. While attacking, he hears Mirabella use her spell. Smart girl!

I was hoping Logan might have moved a bit closer to the action, although maaaybe being there is no bad thing. Will soon see.

She growled beginning to reload her pistol.

@Bicks: Jack's in pretty good shape, thanks to you. The hit he took last round was for 5 points of damage (erased); the first in this round was also 5 points (gone), so he's only down 8 hp from the near-crit.

Logan Tanessen |

Logan's action will depend whether he can see Varl Vex after a 5' step to the window, or if additional movement is required for line of sight.
"Going so soon?" quipped Logan as Varl jumped through the window. This felt rude, Logan had yet to tangle blades with the man and already he wad running. Logan stepped smartly towards the window, searching for Varl's back. Upon sighting the man he imbued a fraction of his power into his blade, which caused ice to instantly encrust it and then he whispered the spidery words a spell.
Swift action: Logan uses 1 arcane pool to enhance his blade with +1 frost.
If Logan can see Varl Vex with just a 5' step, he'll use spell combat to cast Bladed Dash (so next roll has a -2 to hit) and close the gap.
Suddenly Logan was transported towards the fleeing murderer's back, leaving a trail of multi-hued images behind him. Using the sudden unexpected movement to his advantage, Logan thrust his blade towards the small of the man's back.

To be fair he walks normally on the wall thanks to one of his items :) But yeah he is a bit bloodied by now.

Mirabella Lindenbrook |

All right...enough polite suggestions. Time to burn this psycho killer.
Increasingly furious at the remorseless murderer's taunts, Mirabella rushes to the window and channels all her anger into a short verse from "The trial of Pellius the Unrepenting", a popular opera in which a murderous nobleman attempts to cheat justice by influencing his trial through deals with an arch-devil, only to face far worse punishment in the fires of hell.
The righteous fury of both words and chords whirl around Varl Vex, taking physical form and glowing bright orange until he's engulfed in actual flames.

Jack Duncloak |

Jack curses under his breath as the killer slips their net. Surprised that Wex is climbing up the building rather than fleeing into the city, Jack asks the others to help formulate a back-up plan.
"I can try to go upstairs, find Wex, and continue our battle, or I can go outside with Logan and try to pick him off with my longbow. Someone should be outside with Logan, to heal him and make sure he's not an easy target for that madman."
Depending on suggestions from the others, Jack will either climb or descend the stairs.

Logan Tanessen |

Logan would appreciate some backup but I think he's surprisingly hard to hit, at least while his spells and arcane pool hold out. Part of his build is based around redirect attack which is great fun vs clumps of mooks.

I was not expecting this outcome. Vex's strategy is to get away and find a new way to sneak attack you once he has been knocked down to below half health.

Limping from his own fall, Logan winced when Vex smashed to the ground. Surely that finished him off? Logan kicked Vex's weapon away and hummed a focusing chant, a minor cantrip that attuned his senses to any magics the man might have had.

She muttered turning around and hightailing it down the stairs. It was time for damage control literally. They should have thought this through better. Then again she hadnt been planning on a fight at all. She almost bowled over Lena heading up the stairs.
"Bastards in the alley, i think dead. Logan took a nasty fall from the fourth floor, he probably needs healing."
She panted once more clutching at her bloody side.
"His dagger was glowing an evil looking red, might want to knick that before the law arrives."
She added panting before continuing on her way down. Once she found the manager again she gave her best smile, despite the bloody look of her appearance.
