Well, I had fun. Thanks for the game, Fanguar.

I've been meaning to downsize the number of games I'm in anyway, so I'll bow out of the new one. Good luck, everyone.

Thanks for understanding folks.

Thanks GM Fanguar. Love being part of your campaigns even though sometime I get swamped with work and tend to neglect the campaign for a bit.

I am interested in your idea and willing to try this out.
Do you have any sites that we can wander and look at the 5e rules?

https://www.dndbeyond.com/ is the official wizards of the coast site. You have to register, but it's pretty slick.

https://www.5thsrd.org/ is another solid reference site.

The info is available in a bunch of other places as well.

Since I love Greyhawk I am less happy about seeing this game end than others seem to be. Hmm. Why not set the new 5e game in the world of greyhawk?

I'll certainly give the new game a try. A little unsure about character creation and strongly prefer a level character creation system where it's less likely one character is clearly head and shoulders above the others in power. Seems to happen in my home games all the time. Roll up 6 characters and one will be on the low side of the statistical average and one on the high side, on average. I'd rather roll class randomly and then build with points, if you want a random element. Could also roll other starting choices randomly. ???

Dwur Barbarian (Drunken Brute Invulnerable Rager) 8; AC: 18, Touch 11, FF 17; HP: 104/104; DR: 4/- ; Cold Resistance 1; Init: +1; Perception +10, Darkvision 90ft.; Fort +13 Ref +4 Will +4

To chime in - know you mentioned a home-brew setting GM-F, but Greyhawk is an old stomping ground (not just from AoW) - if we did go for an establish realm - then it would get my vote.

Would prefer to immerse/build the rich cultural feel of Greyhawk if we did as that was somewhat diluted in this game.

However its your call chief :)

Re: Setting: Literally the only thing that I did to make AoW in Greyhawk is change the city's name from "The Free City" to the City of Greyhawk and use setting appropriate Gods. Also Lucid, Savage tide AP is in the Greyhawk setting and I wouldn't say it feels any different than if it was in Golarion or Toril. What makes Greyhawk 'Greyhawk' are the adventures that were written for it and those are what I am pilfering for my campaign setting. I have The village of Hommlet, Curse of the reptile god, Sinister secret of Saltmarsh adventures and many more. Those are the kinds of adventures you will be able to stumble into in my setting. I expect that my campaign will have a very old school 'Gygaxian' feel.

As for why I don't want to use an existing setting, there are several reasons. 5e has a bunch of player races that don't fit into standard Greyhawk, Goliaths, Dragonborn, tieflings, etc. I also want to tweak a few others, e.g. elves and gnomes are fey in my setting, Half-elves and Half-orcs aren't hybrids, they are separate races. I'm am also doing some minor tweaks to how magic works, which affects how Gods work. And a few other things. Also, not using an existing setting gives more flexibility in terms of politics and allows for more collaborative world-building.

Re: Character creation: I didn't want to get into all the nitpicky aspects of what I'm going to do, but oh well. We will be doing 4d6 drop the lowest, in order. 1st roll STR, 2nd DEX etc.
Usable stat sets need to have at least 2 stats of 15 or better, if not you re-roll the set, you are heroes after all. Every new PC will have at least 2 great stats, some might have more, but all new PCs will be playable. Point buys lead to bland characters, rolling adds randomness to the process. Besides, I wouldn't necessarily get too attached to your characters. I'm going to be using wandering monster tables, so level inappropriate encounters are possible. Also, I might stick the Tomb of Horrors someplace you could stumble into.

If someone hates their PC after actually playing it for a while, then I have no problem in retiring them as a NPC and they player can re-roll.

Anywho folks, that's the game I am looking to run. If you're interested, I would love to have you, but if it doesn't sound like it will be your cup of tea, feel free to take a pass.

You had me at Saltmarsh chief lol.

Hey Folks,

I've started recruiting for the new campaign and I'm looking to confirm seats. I know BD and Issac are interested. What about you Lucid? There's a spot if you are interested, but if not, no worries.

Like I've said - count me in.

Will mean having to leave 5E - didn't play 4E at all, but if it hardens back to the halcyon days of D&D then I'll get my reading head on.

Great bunch of players interested in the recruitment thread - been lucky enough to play alongside a good few of them. I'd definitely go higher in the party number as it'll keep things rolling along.

How webs are goosed so posting with my phone - will try and pop in to the recruitment thread if you want?

Cheers

If you are familiar with some of the players in the recruitment thread and think that any of them would be a good or bad choice, please let me know. I'm generally biased to more established profiles, but that's not always a great indicator, so anyone you can vouch for would get a leg up. As for party size, I'm leaning towards a group of at least 7, to account for attrition or slow posters.

Yes, I am in. Of course. But I will miss the world of Greyhawk. I had hoped to get high enough level in your game to influence the world a little.

Ironically another GM I like a lot is running a 5e game I am in and its set in Greyhawk! We are in Geoff right now. If you are interested I can share a link.

I'll take a look at the recruitment now but might not have time to get to making a character until Monday. I only made it back home late yesterday and seem to be behind on everything.

Edit. Looked at the tread and see we don't make characters until players are selected. So count me in for sure. Curious to see what the party looks like. :)

Discusion thread is up and full of all kinds of goodness.
