Hell's Rebels, Rise of the Silver Ravens

Game Master Red Velvet Tiger

I'm still working on Tychoi.

I will be sticking to the Eldritch Archer magus but I'm also looking at adding Hexcrafter to it as well. I'll be using one upgrade to move to full BAB and will most likely use the other to get more skills.

As for my secondary class I'm mostly looking at 3 options:
Fighter: this would be feats at first level and then Weapon training. The idea here is to add damage potential without spells and provide some utility via Advanced Weapon Training and extra feats.
Witch: Utility is the name of the game here. It would add a ton of debuffing potential and utility via even more Hexes than Hexcrafter alone.
Investigator (Lamp Lighter): Thematically very fitting archetype that would actually add more to the flavor of the character than to the mechanics. Then again, Inspiration together with the Initiative mechanics are more than enough already. The added Investigator talents would just be a nice bonus.

I do wonder though, how would a class ability like the Witch's Patron function, since you said no spell casting? Would you just add those spells to your own?
This is assuming your main class can already cast spells already of course.

This is the character profile I(bane88) will be using for my blade adept arcanist.

When I get home this afternoon, I'll crunch in hero lab and post his whole backstory.

Short backstory is that he is a very young elf, 30, so he acts like a teenager. He is a devotee of Cayden Cailean and loves his drink and is very unpleased with the lockdown of this already (in his opinion) uptight city.

I would love his reason to protest to be tag along, if anyone wants to befriend a rowdy freedom loving cheesy pickup line saying elf magical Dynamo!

A frequent purveyor of the Thrashing Badger, he lately has been patronizing Clenchjaw, as those Thrune bastards have burned the TB to the ground.

Also here is a pic

I think my sheet is finished, though if I think of something to add (especially story wise) I'll probably edit it.

Chejop

I specifically didn't mention any made up name (of contacts, friends, enemies, etc) in case you have some particular people in mind, but it can all be worked out if needed.

Silver Crusade

My character is still ready to go. My interest with this game remains.

Geez. :p
I've been looking over class features and I think I might reconsider the slayer/rogue combo.
I want to use little to no armor, so I was thinking I need the Monk's AC bonus.
Maybe, unchained rogue/monk combo?

Okay, I've decided to mix things up a little bit... The more I pondered on the original background for my PC the more hamfisted it felt trying to fit into the Rebellion theme. The class combo are still the same; however, I decided to change things around a little...

I decided on going with an Azata-Blood Aasimar with the Scion of Humanity racial trait. I decided to go with the Child of Kintargo trait and picking up Noble Scion feat for the Aulamaxa family. I really love the idea of an aasimar hidden within the infrastructure of an infernal empire! He will start off being unaware of his otherworldly nature until he works towards becoming closer to Milani. He knows there are things about him that are very different from the rest of his family (Darkvision, SLAs), but he does not know the exact reason behind it... I really want this character to drift towards the rebellion more organically than the first concept I had come up with...

He's always been a little more rebellious than the rest of his family and venerates Milani more than worships her at this point in his life. Though he doesn't know it yet, she has taken a liking to him... keeping him from being caught by the guards and allowing him to easily blend into crowds to escape from potentially damning situations he points himself into...

Here's a link to the character sheet with what I have completed thus far!

Okay guys, I just got off work not too long ago. Time to answer some questions! ^_^

Monkeygod: You can take alchemy, but you don't get extracts/formulae. It follows the same principle as spells in that regards.

Ashess: Now that's a prayer! *Clink*

Chejob: The one little minor detail that I would point out is that Shoanti do not have traditional European hamlets. They refer to them as villages. That's just a minor detail though! The character looks good otherwise! Would you like to come up with your associates yourself or would you like me to throw a bone and give you some ideas from pre-existing NPCs?

Oyzar: You may delay the bonus feat for one level, yes, but only once. Barzilai's thugs were ordered to crack down on those of non-diabolic faiths, so hiding a holy symbol, particularly after events start to escalate in the campaign, is probably a good idea.

He'sDeadJim: Are you planning on taking any crafting feats? I have a system that makes it easier and it seems as if you geared towards crafting in backstory.

Simon Blue-Eye: You are German then? I went to Berlin once, years ago. The opera house and night life there are amazing!

Cuan: There is no way to get more spells known or castable per day with a class feature, following my response upthread to domains and the response here to the alchemy feature.

Davram Knox: NOT THE THRASHING BADGER!!! Why must the Chelish government be so cruel as to burn down a place with as awesome of a name as the Thrashing Badger?

Septimus Falkland: Are you intending to stay with the dottari as a sort of sleeper agent or leaving it entirely?

Spacefurry: There is that and a few other classes that give an AC bonus, so you have a few options for getting up to par on AC.

Faelyn: Getting a background write-up?

GM Infernal Mistress wrote:

Good catch!

=)
I really wanted to wait and see where the campaign went first, but I was definitely considering picking up at least the Enchant Arms and Armor
feat later, so that would be a yes. I can avoid doing so too, just in case you or I feel that it may bog down the game for some reason.

GM Infernal Mistress wrote:
Faelyn: Getting a background write-up?

Yes, working on it as we speak. Smoothing out the wrinkles and working on making him seem organic. I should have it posted later this evening.

GM Infernal Mistress wrote:

Chejob: The one little minor detail that I would point out is that Shoanti do not have traditional European hamlets. They refer to them as villages.

Uh... I think I call it both ways xD I can really change it, I don't even know what's the real difference (I thought it was only a matter of how much people).

Plus, I'm European, so can't blame me for doing it my way, I guess... ;)

GM Infernal Mistress wrote:

Yeah, that's what I meant... I thought linking to already existent NPCs would make things more "real", if you know what I mean... that's why I linked him to Shenren (is there a pic of Shenren anywhere, btw? Or some info on race, etc?).

I'm not usually a "my character's background cannot be altered" guy, I'm always open to the GM saying "hey, what if you are from Katapesh instead? It would be way cooler cause then you'd get to meet this one, etc". So please feel free. When we roleplay, we make the story together, so why not creating the PCs together?
Plus, I'm also much into not pre-writing every little detail before starting the game. Perhaps a pair of contacts would be good and then we can work out on the fly, when we think it's cool.

I'll be around to check while I hit some episodes of Mr Robot :)

Edit: Just realised the avatar I chose looks a bit like The Rock :P "Finally, The Chejop has come back to Kintargo!!!" :lol

He'sDeadJim: I will allow crafting, so no worries! :)

Faelyn: Just wanted to be sure that it wasn't eaten by the intrawebz. :P

Chejop: Sorry about being so nitpicky! I took an anthropology course WAAAAAAAAAY back about 3-4 years ago in my college days, so I am just used to saying 'hey, wrong culture'! No worries though, I know what you meant, my OCD just wanted that pointed out. :) I can find you a picture of Shensen, sure! And "CAN YOU SMEEEEEEELL... WHAT THE CHEJOP... IS COOKING?!".

What, exactly, would I get from Alchemy then?

Monkeygod: See the quote. It's not much but adding levels of spellcasting, or spellcasting equivalency, is one of the things that I had balance concerns with and is why I decided to nix the entire option to add them. That's part of the reason that there is no true gestalt featured here.

Alchemy wrote:

In addition, an investigator can use Craft (alchemy) to identify potions as if using detect magic. He must hold the potion for 1 round to attempt such a check. ...

Hey, you're talking to the guy who originally named his character Yue Fei (as can be seen in my Aliases, though it's an idea from some years ago) because of this. So no problem.
Freaks of the World, unite!
Oh, I would also like to thank my mum & dad, my lil puppy Leo and to apologise for using a terrible English.

Chejop: Great reference! He was truly one of the greatest figures in Chinese history. He, Sun Tzu (Sun Wu), and Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty were some of my favorite people in Chinese history! :)

Infernal, do you know where I may be able to find any information on the Aulamaxa family? I cannot seem to locate anything beyond the little blurbs in the Child of Kintargo and Noble Scion sections. Based on the benefits that family provides, I'm assuming that they are real big in the performance scene in Kintargo, but wanted to see if there was anything more on them before I put anything to stone...

What about a spell-like ability, like the Summoner's summon monster class feature? Can that still be chosen?

Faelyn: Here are a few good pointers on House Aulamaxa. They are very big in the performance scene across Cheliax, not just Kintargo. Most of the family has a degree of vanity, more than a few eccentricities, and a love of food and other worldly pleasures, perhaps too much in some cases. If a person ever makes themselves an enemy of the Aulamaxas, they tend to create a vicious satire based on that person, which often results in the person they dislike being snubbed in polite society or becoming the object of ridicule. The only person who has avoided this is Barzilai Thrune, due to his connections, although they view him as a contemptible man with little sense of class, taste, or propriety. They particularly abhor his proclamations and insist that he invented the proclamation against tea to spite them, due to their love of tea time. Quite uncharacteristically wise regarding Barzilai, they keep their gossip about him confined to their salons and private social functions. Does that help you any?

Spacefurry: Neither eidolon nor summon monster can be selected. Eidolons are, by and large, too powerful to be split between the five bonus features and summon monster is, I have found, distasteful except as a back-up if a summoner's true eidolon is slain.

Very much so, yes! Thank you for that awesome nugget of information. I'll make a few minor changes to Corvus' background to integrate that into his family history. I'm trying very hard to keep it relatively concise and yet give the introduction to him. I have a tendency to do rather long backgrounds and don't want to go overboard lol. Sometimes keeping it short gives a lot more room to flesh out a character as they grow.

Infernal, can I get info on House Jhaltero, please?

Also, kinda bummed Alchemy ends up being so useless if taken as a semi-gestalt feature.

Just to be sure, for the future...

By selecting Rogue Talents, do we get 2, like Fighter Feats? 'Cause they're both gained every 2 levels, and are more or less equal in power...

Jup I'm from Germany but way more in the south, in the near of Stuttgart (where Mercedes and Porsche hail from^^)
A first climpse into the ap showed me that somoms concept seems a bit displaced for this AP, as we might stay for a long time in town so ... It would be fun anyway ... Playing the arties cat struggling the get a grip and all that politics and stuff (depicted by him training more and more social skills, with 6+skills from the hunter class, did I write ranger before?, he should be able to be pretty good at those things in a few levels.

Why he is opposing ... I think it depends a bit on the course of actions, I really imagine him as one of those people just letting them self drift with the time and enjoy every part of it. Maybe he simply takes side out of sympathy with those freed slaves some of you guys are.building or has witnessed some scenes that really go against his fur, I don't know for know, must read more about the setting first^^.

Okay... I believe I've covered everything that has come into my mind. I'm still debating on one last trait & feat and will need to finalize some equipment before he is completely finished. Here is Corvus Aulamaxa

Reference image for Corvus!

Faelyn: Glad to help! :)

Monkeygod: Here's a few interesting facts about House Jhaltero. The family is outwardly a family dedicated to silversmithing and stoneworking, as they own the largest quarries in Cheliax. This is just a cover for their true work: the buying and trading of secrets. They are notorious purveyors of secrets and, while they are distrusted by some in the nobility, nearly every noble house has used their services at some point and few are willing to snub them. Although they have a seedy reputation, they have taken strict steps to not align themselves with either Thrune Loyalists or the growing groups of dissenters in Cheliax, choosing to closely watch the events of Westcrown and Kintargo to see where the balance of power tips. It is rumored that the family has powerful connections in Vyre, the City of Masks.

Chejop: Yes, indeed you do get two rogue talents as you level per class feature used in one!

Simon Blue-Eye: Okay! KITTEH! :)

I went ahead and put together a quick Alias for Aleksara.
Here

My Paladin concept isn't coming together, but I've got a new idea that I like a lot more for a Fighter (Brawler archetype) with some Swashbuckler flair. I'll be using the stat upgrades to give a boost to my will save and skill points.

Swashbuckler Finesse:
At 1st level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, and she can use her Charisma score in place of Intelligence as a prerequisite for combat feats. This ability counts as having the Weapon Finesse feat for purposes of meeting feat prerequisites.

Fluff:
By all reasonable accounts, Fiora's life should have been simple and dully pleasant; born to loving parents in the farmlands at the outskirts of Cheliax's borders, Fiora never had a reason to think of any of the pressures that plagued her home country. All she had to think about was working hard and doing her very best to one day take over her family's farm.

This all changed rather abruptly one day. As good and wholesome as Fiora's parents were, her uncle on her mother's side was not. He was a drunkard, and a fool, and mired in crippling gambling debt. Out of familial love Fiora's mother tried to help the man as much as she could, and her husband (albeit reluctantly) aided for her sake, but this uncle preferred to gamble away their charity and blame his hated sister and brother-in-law for his misfortune. So full of hatred was he that, when the collectors came to his doorstep, when a fiendish voice whispered in his ear that he could wipe away the debt if he were to only sacrifice his niece, that he was happy to oblige.

Fiora awoke the next day with a bruise on her head and a gag on her mouth. She was a slave: from that point forward, every day she would labor hard attending to her new master's house, and every night she would fight for the amusement of a crowd of wealthy onlookers, pompous villains who would laugh as they bet on who would come out of a fight the victor, and whether the loser would be able to get back up.

Not all of the fighters were slaves, but for those who were the rules were simple: if you lose, you get whipped, if you win, you do not. Fiora proved excellent in the arena; against opponents who were not slaves, she showed swiftness and strength that were unmatched. On those nights, Fiora's master would praise her, calling her a prodigy blessed with the strength of Asmodeus himself. But against slaves-others like her, ripped from their homes and abused by evil taskmasters-Fiora would fall, taking whatever beating was required before the fight was concluded. On those nights Fiora's master was silent, and he let his whip speak for him.For five long years this persisted; for five long years, her master worked tirelessly to break her, to instill in her the ruthlessness that he was so certain was there. And yet her strength-physical or spiritual-never wavered.

Fiora's five years of perseverance ended as abruptly as they began. A Hellknight came to her master's door one day; he had taken one too many slaves unlawfully, and the Order of the Torrent had taken notice. Fiora, alongside those whom she had worked to protect, was suddenly free. Her body wavered for the first time, the strength that had kept her going for so long suddenly evaporated and she collapsed in front of the woman who had saved her.

Fiora awoke, this time not with a gag on her mouth, but with a blanket on her shoulders. Fiora's injuries, the Hellknight explained, were too severe to be left unattended to; by her own examination it was a miracle that Fiora had survived at all, and that the severity of her lashings should have killed her years ago. She remarked half-jokingly that it must have been the will of some benevolent god that Fiora survive her punishments. Fiora was not sure who that could be, the only god she had known being Asmodeus, but she decided that if they revealed themselves she would have to thank them.

The Hellknight took Fiora to Kintargo, to be professionally cared for by clerics working for the Order of the Torrent. Fiora was forced to make a new life in her new city, as she had lost her old one; somewhere in the half-decade of torture the names of Fiora's home and family had been forgotten. When she healed Fiora found her own way in Kintargo, doing odd jobs and even a little bit of mercenary work; ironically enough, her past as a slave and a pit fighter proved invaluable for finding work in her new life. Fiora never forgot what the Order of the Torrent did for her, and as her first year as a Kintargan passed her admiration for the Order and their leader never waned.

Thus Fiora's confusion and anxiousness at the arrival of Barzillai Thrune and the disappearance of Octavio Sabinus. Members of the Order of the Torrent were apt to move about of their own accord, but as far as Fiora knew the entire organization vanishing was unprecedented. There had to be some connection to Thrune's nonsense; the man's policies had been puzzling at best and tyrannical at worst, and he had even brought in the hated Order of the Rack, as if one group had replaced the other. In Fiora's mind there had to be some sort of connection. A rumored protest against Barzillai's policies sparked Fiora's interest; perhaps a Knight of the Torrent would be present there. It was a stretch, but Fiora was worried enough that she was willing to take a chance at the slight possibility of getting some answers.

I left the name of Fiora's savior ambiguous so as to allow her to be integrated into the campaign if you wish; Fiora should be a pretty fun character both mechanically and thematically (characteristically? that there thing when you do the roleplay and junk) so fingers crossed, haha.

I think I will go Melee Hunter with Sneak Attack extra Class Feature and full BaB and 10HD. Found some really interesting teamwork feats for this style. Keeping bow as backup option. Also going to be the sneaky cat with a great also sneaking cat companion. One Question: the AP does not list big cats as companions. Will it be ok to pick a big cat as Simons companion? I think about a black panther or a tiger, maybe even a lion? What would be appropriate in this particular region?

As for the AP Question about "why are you here, at the demonstration" I will go with "Staying up on Current Events" option (p9). Just entered Kitargo and curious why all those people are meeting on that place. Otherwise if you say that the group already knows each other surfacely, I'll likely to just go with them "Tagging Along".

[Edit:] Can one spend one of the two updates to bring an animal companion to full hd progression?

Is it too late to join in on this recruitment? I'm popping over from another Hell's Rebels thread (didn't want to go two at once), and would be happy to recrunch for this campaign's requirements, etc. (for instance, turning VMC monk into just monk features), if you're not already making decisions.

(Also, while Strix are pretty wild, I liked the flavor and tried to take variant options to give away things like flight and hatred that would be problematic in this campaign)

Okay guys, so I'm proooooobably not going to post today. It's party night tonight after work! ^_^ I MAY be able to squeak in an update for your questions before I go to bed tonight, but don't count on it. Post whatever questions you might have though! :)

Simon Blue-Eye: Yes to both of your questions. There are not big cats native to Cheliax, at least as far as I know, but I'm sure that exotic pets are not unheard of, given the nobility's penchant for extravagance. Hence, as long as you have some kind of 'permit', you shouldn't get too much of an issue.

Shiri Dog-Catcher: I am not selecting yet, so put your character on the thread! :)

Dotting in on this.

Definitely will put together something, but first need to work through the thread-

GM:
edit: read some spoiler tabs regarding your post history that admittedly put me on edge...but everybody deserves a couple chances...so...oh well, starting level 1 is not that hard even with those custom rules so I'll submit something.

Since you are seemingly involved in a way: how is Divinitus doing? I think people are worrying about him over in his recruitment...been a week again since his last post...if he really intends to rebuild trust he should at least keep posting short messages letting people know whats the situation - even worse, if he was to disappear again, some people may link that to you starting a new recruitment a few days after he goes missing from his.

Silver Crusade

Septimus would end up leaving the City Guard and going full rebel as he does not want to work with the corrupt guard anymore and if he were to stay they would force him to uphold further the unjust laws of the state in order to keep his cover. He is also lacking in any form of bluff ability so it would be hard for him to act as a sleeper agent.

MordredofFairy:
Thanks for the update. I will let him know tonight if he comes to the party. He's just been depressed and has had a bit of anxiety with all the negativity. He hasn't even really been playing World of Warcraft that much lately. He was going to post when I opened my recruitment, but he saw the comment about his post history and texted me asking if people really thought he was that bad of a GM, that they would talk about him in a negative light even on someone else's recruitment and such. I told him that he needs to post, so that people would understand. He has been determined for several days that, even though many said that they were willing to give him a second chance, a lot didn't really mean it, based on their actions. I explained that some people are just going to hold a grudge no matter what, but that some were honestly giving a fair chance, to just bloody post and tell people what's going on. He said that he might post tonight after the party but that he just wants people to stop being negative and spreading that negativity on the messageboards. If you have something specific you want him to know, I can text him later for you, yeah? Just send me a pm about whatever you wanted to say. Sorry about the whole bloody wall of text and all, it's just a lot to explain, yeah?

Septimus Falkland: Okay! ^_^

Spoiler:
Sad to see it affect him so, but it's completely understandable. I think most people still bothering to post in his threads would be very happy to have him back.

I'm pretty much done with the mechanics of my character, but missing some of the fluff. I'm still a bit unsure about what to do with regards to weapons/shield though. Can a divine caster move his weapon over to his shield hand then cast a spell then move it back to his free hand? I'm really torn between the extra damage from a two handed weapon vs the extra AC from a (heavy?) shield, but if I can't even use spells with a shield it makes that option even worse. I'm kinda leaning towards a shield (and the favored weapon of Sarenrae) if it actually works using a shield.

Spoiler:
oyzar has it right. The issue isn't that people are holding a grudge. The issue is that he doesn't post. He comes back saying he will, and then he disappears again. I understand that he's concerned that people will hold a grudge, but if he wants to be trusted again, he needs to actually post. I'm still willing to play in his Kingmaker if he'll make an effort to actually post.

Spoiler:
I would have to agree on that matter. If he wants to be trusted, he just needs to post - and to continue posting on a regular basis, even if it's just something small whipped up in the evening. ^^ Once he does that for awhile, I think people will relax.

All that aside, I might go back and add to Arya's background sometime soon, just to make her more fleshed-out and interesting. I've done some of that using Ultimate Campaign's background stuff, but I'm not satisfied yet. XD

Spoiler:
Plenty of people chimed in already, so I'll make this short: I was one of those people who stated that after all that happened they do not sufficiently trust him at the moment to enter his recruitment this time.
But regardless, I was monitoring it, which is why I brought this up with you. I want him to pull himself together and actually go through with this. If he manages to run/play a game for a few months, I'll gladly come back for any other recruitment he runs, and I am certain others feel the same.

As for Character, I'd likely go with a Shaman of Battle/(Speaker of the Past)(upgraded BaB+HP), with Second Class Unchained Monk, looking at Flurry, Unarmed Strike Progression, AC Bonus, and either Ki Pool or Fast Movement.
(Already playing a Shaman in another game, but I think there's plenty of Magi and Arcane Casters already from a quick glance...)

Rett the Unbreakable

There we go, Rett the Unbreakable is complete.

Paladin with a dab of barbarian, a rip-roaring Gnoll turned to good.

I welcome any and all constructive criticism and comments.

Roles:

• Out of combat, Rett makes a good party face, able to socialize with both friend or foe, and providing solid muscle where physical work is required. Amongst the rebellion, he will likely be the voice of war and revolution, preaching outright revolution. He quite stands out in a crowd, making him a perfect distraction for more covert plans.

Rett might clash with more pacifistic characters, and those less willing for the revolution to make grand sacrifices in the name of freedom. This should provide some interesting conflict to the story.

• In combat, Rett is truly a frontliner. Capable of dishing out damage and of taking a lot of punishment, he can also use intimidation tactics to soften enemies up by inflicting the Shaken status effect.

He is particularly scary in battles that require him to go all out, where he can opt to stack Rage and Smite for some truly powerful blows.

My plans for him at higher levels are to focus on two-handed weapon fighting, branching out into Cornugon Smash, Dazzling Display, and Shatter Defenses to knock the fear of Sheela into enemies. True to his name, Rett is built to last, and should be able to provide a very solid damage sink while keeping himself healed up. He should have an abundant amount of Lay on Hands healing thanks to his high Charisma stat, and I intend to take Greater Mercy to boost that.

I here is Edgerson for your review.

Opted for the +2 BAB and Backstabbing.

I'm going to bow Illia out of this recruitment, I managed to get into the one that just finished with my Strix and don't want to be greedy. Keep me in mind though if you find yourself needing a replacement, I won't feel guilty then.

Infernal... I am curious if either of these feats would come in handy during the AP? Charming Performance and Rouse Emotions. Charming Performance by itself isn't all that interesting; however, I am very interested in Rouse Emotions. I think that would be phenomenal feat with this AP in being able to turn a large crowd against the Dottari and the Thrune empire; however, I am not sure whether the opportunity to really utilize those feats will come into play!

Figured out my gestalted class is going to be Ninja.

I can't tell, are you allowing tricks, talents, etc to be chosen at first level, despite being a second(or higher) class feature?

Also, would it be at all possible to somehow gain a Ki Pool via a feat or something? So many ninja tricks rely on or use the Ki Pool, but it seems like such a waste to spend two class features to make full use of most of their tricks.

Okay, I'm back from the party! ^_^

Oyzar: I believe that the rules state that you cannot but there are ways around it, such as the bulwark mage feat that lets you cast a spell with your shield hand and ignore any arcane spell failure from any type of shield but a tower shield.

Rednal: So I'm not the only one that enjoys the chaos of random background table rolls occasionally when creating a character? ^_^

MordredofFairy: Flurry of blows and unarmed strike both cost 2 each to max out, due to their relative power.

Cydrius: A charismatic Gnoll? I haven't seen one of those since TSP/Divinitus created a villain for another campaign: Harufang the Trickster, which was about the most sadistic villain, and bard, that I have ever had the pleasure of defeating.

Edgerson: Backstabbing? You mean sneak attack?

Illia'mafaedra Dracumbria: Glad you were accepted! Best of luck to you! ^_^

Faelyn: They could both prove useful! I will offer fair warning, just so that you are aware. Early in the campaign it would be a REALLY bad idea to rouse up the common people. As a matter of fact, it would probably be better to calm them down. Barzilai has the city in a state of military lockdown and, without weakening his impressive infrastructure in a serious way, all that a riot would do is end up in a lot of innocent blood running through the streets of Kintargo. As noted in the PG, Barzilai is cunning and has plans for nearly everything.

Monkeygod: Glad to see you finally decided on some features! Yes, tricks may be taken at first level and cover two progressions, the first level and then the next one on the chart (4th in your case). And just like with magus arcana pool and magus arcana, you will receive a ki pool with your tricks, with an effective pool level that can scale equal to the highest level trick that you have 'bought' in your progression. You know, if you have one feature point in tricks, and therefore get progression with tricks to 4th level, you get a pool that can go up to 4th level. Is that confusing? Sorry if it was. As you know, I'm a bit drunk right now.

Good to know! Thank you for that wonderful insight. I will definitely keep those on the back-burner then until a more appropriate opportunity. I just need to finalize Corvus' purchases and then he will be completely ready to go.

Infernal: I have a hard time to decide between the two options of simons (^^) I have in my mind. The first concept is a ranged hunter with second class Qi Arrow Monk, for massive ranged support. The second one is the melee hunter with many teamwork feats to work closely with the animal companion and class features from rogue (especially sneak attack).

Both of these concepts are very close (even stat wise, it will really change only in two points I think) and also in the background.
Ranged Hunter is more the hunter type with bow and more tracking, while the melee concept is more the ambush type with stealth.
Both are very likely lifestyle for a dextrous cat living in the wilderness I think. And I'm really interested in both styles.

I have this problems often while character creation, and normally I simply look at the group and what they want to play, and then pick one of my concepts which fits best. You told us to not do this, because of prolonged discussion ... so I'm a bit lost right now. Would it be okay do simply create both concepts and wait if i get picked and then decide which one to play, according to the rest of the team?

Also how to you want us to post our concepts? In our Alias, as an uploaded char sheet (where to upload?) or simply in text form here (maybe inside a spoiler)?

Wait, does that mean I have to keep taking tricks at each increment to continue gaining a matching Ki Pool?

A ninja's pool is equal to half his level+ Cha mod. If i only take tricks twice(1st and 4th level) am I capped at a pool of 2+Cha mod?

No it is the same as with sneak attacks I think: you take two advanced to get the full level-stack, if you take only one you will get half of the capstone. The example of sneak attack was:
- one advance = 5d6 max
- two advances = full 10d6 max
Meaning you will get 5+CH with one or 10+CH with two.

Simon: Yes, you can submit both versions.

Monkeygod: Ah yes, good catch! Forgot my own rules. Bloody absinthe! But yes, you get the full pool.

Bleh, I guess I might have to go with the standard 2H build then :(. It's not worth it to pay a feat to be able to use a shield. As a divine caster an Inqusitor is already profiecent with shields and doesn't suffer spell failure, but that's not worth anything if I can actually use the feature. Unless you let me actually move my scimitar around I guess (free action to move scimitar over to shield hand, then cast before moving it back to the free hand).

Alright, updated to campaign specifics.

@oyzar: I think a light shield counts as leaving your hand free. I'm not sure 100%, it might be a buckler. But in any case, even though it's not a full +2 to AC, it will count a lot in higher levels when you can have it enchanted.
Or, you can go the 2H way (SMASH!!) and later on try to get an item to cast Shield on you. Or something similar, you know.

General question: Am I the only one who's going to have 3/4 BAB? Lol. Not that it matters much, but I thought many people would be taking extra skills (I took it twice to 8+ and still feel I'm lacking).
