Yes, Sneak Attack. Not sure what I was thinking there.

Rolling? Nah, I just picked the background results I wanted - and the act of doing so helps jump-start my creative juices and get me thinking about what I've picked and why. XD

@oyzar: I think a light shield counts as leaving your hand free. I'm not sure 100%, it might be a buckler. But in any case, even though it's not a full +2 to AC, it will count a lot in higher levels when you can have it enchanted.

Or, you can go the 2H way (SMASH!!) and later on try to get an item to cast Shield on you. Or something similar, you know.

General question: Am I the only one who's going to have 3/4 BAB? Lol. Not that it matters much, but I thought many people would be taking extra skills (I took it twice to 8+ and still feel I'm lacking).

With ABP it won't be until 14th level we get extra enchatment on shields, so it would stay +1 for a long time. I guess I'll switch over to 2H...

I needed +1 BAB for weapon focus (to qualify for Dazzling Display), though actually being able to hit enemies in combat will be great too... My character get a ton of free skill points from his class, but I still want 3x as much. I just value survival and combat ability a bit higher since he'll already be so good at skills.

I don't know what ABP means, but if it is something that will stop us from being able to spend 1,000 GP in our shields until level 14, then it must be really really bad. Something related to this Adventure Path? I'm sorry, I'm not that used to the game to know all acronyms.

It stands for "Automatic Bonus Progression", a variant ruleset in Pathfinder Unchained involving free basic bonuses (natural armor, resistance bonus to saves, weapon and armor enhancement, etc.) at specific levels, so you don't need to spend magic item slots on them.

Chejop: ABP is Automatic Bonus Progression

I wasn't aware it was in use here, though. GM, can you confirm? I can't seem to find an indication of it in the thread.

Ok I have no idea of that system ^^. Well I will wait what she says.

Btw. Simons Char sheet is finished. Only minor updates will come eventually (some utility gear or something like that nothing severe). Also I have to finish up my animal companion and some serious backstory, then I'm done :-)

[Edit]One question about my animal companion: At lvl 1 she can learn up to seven tricks. Can I assume that I simply take my time (take20) to teach her all of those tricks before the campaign starts? More tricks will come later, so I defiantly going to play that out.

I would have done just 3/4 on mine, but I needed +1 BAB to take an Exotic Weapon Prof, at 1st level.

I cannot find that anywhere either...

I'm sorry, I must have confused it with the rules from another campaign. It wouldn't apply at first level anyway. It's not in effect for this campaign.

Simon Blue-Eye: Between Guidance, link and Training Harness my character with 8 charisma manages to get 20 by taking 10. +9 is needed to not fail in combat anyway.

My friend and I are very interested in your Hell's Rebels PbP game. We have created two characters that are connected to the Kintargo Opera House. His character is a bard (with the "Diva in Training" trait). My character is a rogue (human, female), Raven Silvertongue, that grew up on the streets of Kintargo and just recently started working as a stage hand at the opera. Raven has the "Star Struck - Shensen" trait. I have a more detailed backstory and a fully created character (Hero Lab) that I can send you if selected. I have played in a monthly D&D/Pathfinder game since 1998 and look forward to joining a PbP game.

. I have an idea of paladin social worker or ex-mint marchand or cook.

Oh, I see. Thank you all for the explanation, I only glanced over Unchained thingies.

ABP: No ABP.

Oyzar: Oh yeah, I forgot about the buckler! Buckler doesn't actually count as wearing a shield for the purposes of dual-wielding and spellcasting.

Edgerson: For a long time, I called it backstab as well! Force of habit from video games, I suppose.

Simon Blue-Eye: Yes, that is fine!

Raven Silvertongue: Can you send me the backstory and statblock?

Yeah I am at a +9 for handling my AC, but not at 10 so I can simply take-10 for training. Thanks for the pointer on the harness, didn't know about that item! That are just the +2 I needed^^. Also guidance ... I was tempered to pick it but I took detect poison instead ... My danger bells are ringing when I hear about political intriguing ^^

[Edit:]Were can I find traits for character creation? I just have reviewed your op, were you said two starting traits + campaign traits. As I am used to some of the German wordings, I don't know what exactly traits are. I thought traits would be those boni you get from your race?

Traits

Simon Blue-Eye: Follow Chejop's link for regular traits. Campaign traits are in the free downloadable player's guide here on Paizo.

I just sent you a PM with Raven's statblock. Also, I just talked with my friend who is creating the bard (our back stories are connected). He will be posting and sending you a PM with his statblock within the hour. I think he said his Bard's name would be Johan.

Raven Silvertongue: Okay! :)

If we take an archetype that only has two class features do we lose the others we could gain?

I'm considering Empiricist that fits my investigator idea better than any other class I think. I'm going to be heavy on skills and I think that does the best job.

Thanks

Okay everyone! I am getting on WoW for a while to gear up my priest and hunter.

Trawets71: No, you would gain the ones from the base class for your other 3.

I am sending you a pm of Johan, who is a friend of Raven Silvertongue.

Daaaaamn... stop tempting me to go back to WoW...I'll have to migrate a char to your servers... and I'm POOOOORRRRR :P

Ugh, that feeling when you don't have to work and you're still up before daylight.

No more questions for the lady?

Sure!
Am I in?
When do we start?
Can I have breakfast again?

Chejop: Maybe, the day after Frabjous Day, and that's a trick question!

Since you are asking for questions I can always find some.

How do you feel about background skills?

The rules allow for masterwork tools for skills that don't already have some one. Would the following be a ok? A tattoo for +2 to intimidate (or just to demoralize if you want to limit it) and a scarf for +2 bluff (it hides the face/gesutres, it could just be to lie, but I would also want one to "hide" my holy symbol, maybe hide it in the scarf as it's an unusual place to look and it'll have a pocket to hide it).

Hey, looks like a really intriguing proposal for Hell's Rebels! I like the variant, pseudo-gestalt structure you have introduced. I am thinking of a clandestine holy warrior, forbidden to practice her faith openly (Iomedae or Ragathiel possibly) and raised as a craftsman, but impassioned to take up arms to defend her fellow people. Could be built in a couple ways, going to play with numbers today and see what manifests best.

Hello everyone! I decided to go on a short road trip somewhere for a few hours. I'm back!

Due to Oyzar's suggestion, and me having forgotten all about background skills in Pathfinder Unchained, you get those!

Oyzar: Those are all cool ideas! I will allow them.

Tara Ravenheart: Decided on a build yet?

Jax Seran is done mechanically and got some background as well. I'll hopefully be able to finish the rest of the fluff tomorrow.

Character update time!

=)
YESSS!!

Aleksara Darksoul_Updated.

Character fixed to suit the Background Skills rule.

I will update Corvus with the extra skills. Also, Infernal, do you want us to have a Profile sheet setup before you make your selection?

Simon&Emily seems to be ready, besides the fluff ... which getting longer and lionger the more I think&write about it ... maybe I will insert a short version ^^

well that was me of course ^^

Sorry about not posting much yesterday. I was trying to fix a friend's computer. Windows 10 had screwed with his firewall and I was like "WUT WAZ MICROSOFT THINKING?!". Not as bad as Windows 8, but still!

Faelyn: So long as you have the information for your crunch and fluff readily accessible by me then it should be good! :)

Simon Blue-Eye: You're a Blood Angel too?! YAAAAAS! ^_^

Ah, Windows 10. XD; I could write literal essays on how many mistakes Microsoft has made in its implementation.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In my humble opinion, every version of Microsoft since 7 has been a bloody disaster in some way or another. It is sad when the current state of affairs is that they are having to keep making new versions to try to match 7 while keeping the dumb app compatibility. The only good thing from Windows 10 has been allowing a person to sync up a XB1 or PS4 controller to play computer games, which makes PC mech games MUCH easier to play!

How many characters do you intend to select?

Just got back from Valentine's Day shopping! Who won't love chocolate and caramel hearts? There are so many Animal Crossing people I know that I got a VD gift that I probably looked crazy walking out of GameStop with a large bag full of AC amiibos and trading cards! ^_^

I will probably select five characters. If there is another character that I just cannot resist including I will make the campaign a six-man team.

Jax Seran's backstory is done as well. Feel free to ask any questions you might have about the character. I hope you like him.

As for what I bring to the game: Frequent posting and hopefully good roleplay. I'll try to engage the other characters in the game as well as bring the game forward. I love to discuss the game in the discussion thread as well as roleplay, it helps keeping things going if we are waiting on someone and it lessens the need to stop and wait while we figure out next while we figure out what to do next.

Working on some minor changes to give the PC a bit more uniqueness.

Just to be sure:

-In case I was to select the Inspiration class feature (from the Investigator class), my Inspiration would be equal to:
a)1/2 Level + Int mod, as per the rules
b)Any other rule based on the options taken at level 1, 5, 10, 15.

-In case I was to select the Investigator Talent class feature, I would get 2 talents each time (with the possibility of using Feats to get Extra Talents, as usual). Assuming I had no Inspiration Pool, and if I were to select a Talent that affects the expenditure of Inspiration Points, I would:
a)Automatically get an Inspiration Pool based on my higher Secondary Class Option spent on Talents, not being able to access its base usages (that is, to spend a point to add a dice to any skill check).
b)As a), but being able to access its base usages.
c)Not gaining an Inspiration Pool, thus making my selection unusable unless I used another selection or a Feat to get an Inspiration Pool.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit weird, but I didn't understand well how you managed the selection of features which require a Ki Pool, so I'm not really sure if I need to get both features and what will I get from them. Yeah, I'm terrible... :(

And yes, I'm thinking about picking Investigator instead of Rogue just to try something different.

Bit late to this party...but GM, would you allow Spheres of Power if you're familiar with it? The link allows you to look over the basics. You can blame Rednal for this - he's got me really liking the system.

*Snickering*

Welcome to the club. XD

(Incidentally, I'd use it for Arya if I could...)

Hey Jon, fancy running into you here. Good luck! ^^

Simon Blue-Eye: Between Guidance, link and Training Harness my character with 8 charisma manages to get 20 by taking 10. +9 is needed to not fail in combat anyway.

That would have been my campaign ;)

Also I'm using an alternative and much much better version of the weapon/armor enchantment rules that I did link in my campaign thread.

Using these alternative rules (they were recommended by the ABP's creator, Mark Seifer), you could easily get a shield with a +1 special ability for 1000 gp, and if you want to apply your +1 enchancement bonus to it from your automatic bonus progression, you'd only need to slap 2000gp on top of it to give it a +1 capacity (whereas for 1000 gp it only had a +0 capacity). In fact, if you want to keep it upgraded to its eventual +5 (and keep the +1 special ability), you'd only need to keep slapping a few 2k gp onto it for each +1 enhancement bonus. So a +1 Special Ability shield with a +5 capacity would only run you 11,000 gp (plus the price for the masterwork shield itself). Easy peasy!

But these rules aren't in effect for this campaign so.. carry on! :P

Oyzar: Interesting background! ^_^

Chejop: For your first question (a) and for your second question (a) but no limitations.

JonGarret: I have no idea what SoP is about. I know Divinitus mentioned it a while back, but I have NO idea how it works. I will probably go over and check it out. Is it okay if I don't message you back about that until tomorrow? I need to see if the options are balanced or rubbish, yeah?

@GM Infernal Mistress: Oh, balanced, definitely. XD It's stronger than normal casters at low levels, weaker at high levels, and generally makes for a more even experience all-around. Normal powers are all-day, stronger stuff requires expending stuff from the class pool, and it's extremely customizable in terms of both effects and flavor (you can add your own components to spells, etc.). Great system overall.

GM Infernal Mistress wrote:

Of course, if you've never seen the system, take some time.

In essence, it reduces magic to a series of feats casters can take. You gain a Spellcaster Level kinda like BAB, which means you can multiclass without the old spells becoming useless. And it's much, much lower in power than the usual spellcasting system, but allows it to be more versatile and to grant some abilities all day long. A Sphere caster will never need the five minute adventuring day.

Please, do read over it. Rednal and I are both around most of the time, and he knows the system better than I do (as I said, he's the one who get me into it).

Hey dude. Yeah, I keep thinking about running this myself, but I have an idea for a social based game I wanna run too and honestly, I'd like to play this one.

Good luck to you too.

Unless my character has a similar role to yours, of course, in which case THUNDERDOME!
