Just for the hell of it, I’m curious what my rolls would be. Main A: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (1, 2) = 13
Not a bad spread actually. Ironic that one of the mains came out less than a normal and equal to a sub. :p And just for giggles the second try would be… Main A: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (3, 1) = 14
First set is better.
More questions! Who’s surprised? :p
Move Object and Create don’t seem to change the qualities of what’s being moved or created. So if I wanted to have the paper under his control to be more resilient could I add the Impervious extra to it or would I have to use some kind of limited Transform linked to it?
Also, after reading a little more I think Deflect would be more accurate for when he would create ‘walls and shields’ to defend from attacks. Protection adds to personal toughness and would only work if he used it to create some kind of armor or protective clothing. Does that sound right to you? Edit: Sorry if I’m asking too many questions.
I might be overthinking this. :p
Element Control (paper) as base.
I’m also thinking Comprehend (books/papers) and Sense (detect books/paper)
I hadn’t considered using it as a power loss complication, it would work if the GM allows it. As for Protection vs Deflection, I’m not sure. It could be circumstantial depending how it’s used.
Separately, Maggie is cool as are the other sisters. But Yomiko is still my favorite. :D
Couple of questions if I may.
Also, I was thinking of giving him a disability, kinda, he would have lost an arm but uses a bit of his power to sustain a ‘paper arm’. It’s more of a cosmetic thing but it could come in handy in an emergency, if you’ll pardon the pun.
I was thinking of trying the paper master. I did have a couple questions on how to write up the powers.
Character hook wise, I was thinking of a ‘reformed’ criminal turned reluctant hero. A thief on a work release parol. :p Any tips or ideas?
I know I probably won’t actually get in, but it’s just fun trying to stat-up the heroes popping into my head.
*facepalm* I meant ‘alien nova’ like was suggested. Concept for Joshua Prowell:
Humanoid feline with black fur, black hair and green eyes. A reluctant exchange student from Ka’jita, in the Shi’feln Empire. Chosen by lottery amongst numerous empowered children within the empire as a gesture of good faith between the alien empire and representatives of the school on behalf of the Earth. Joshua is resentful towards the empire and his family for having to come to Earth, leaving behind everything, and everyone, he knew. His resentment towards the school and the Earth are simply him projecting his anger at the only ones in range. He realizes this and tries to temper it by learning more about human society and cultures, but many times wonders if humans are actually worth the effort. When I get home today I’ll make a more proper entry and alias.
Thanks for clearing that up a little. I am leaning towards 'alien outsider' then. The only 'alien tech' I would think my hero would need would be something to hide his alien appearance and maybe some way of communicating with home. Otherwise, he's an energy manipulator/blaster.
Villian hook - Creepshow (a villain I came up with for a comic idea I never got around to putting to use)
NPC(s) - Natasha Carmichael, P.E. teacher and Shaman/Medicine Woman
Jean Downer - Freshman, Techno-mancer
I don’t have the rules, but I would love to join in. There’s always the ‘Young Justice’ setup instead of ‘Teen Titans’. Everyone has their own secret identity but they gather together under an adult guide/mentor.
Well then, with all the interest, let’s talk party dynamics.
Myself, I’m feeling someone book taught but looking to see more of the world now. Probably an out-of-towner there to see the festivities.
Maybe something non-human if allowed.
I was in one RotR pbp but it seems to have stalled, which is ironic since I was recruited with another to fill in for a couple of players that had left shortly after the first encounter.
If you like I can modify my pilot/techie.
Use to pilot a Pheonix Hawk ( LAM if they’re allowed, not that matters since it’s backstory now) until it was destroyed in combat. 0 human
I don’t have the books myself so I would need help creating a character. Sorry. It sounds kinda like the creation system for the sci-fi rpg ‘Traveller’. @Atlas I would understand if a LAM is disallowed and would be happy with a regular one. I just liked the versatility of a LAM. Fly over to scout, land and engage before shifting to back off and quickly reposition, then shift again and provide some air cover. :) Edit: Just as long as you don’t take a direct hit to the cockpit...
Dotting. I only got to play table top BT once but I loved it. I remember playing it on old consoles, both SNES and Genesis if I remember right. Recently bought the new one in Steam and have really enjoyed it. (This is making me want to play it right now.) Never got a chance to play Mechwarrior though. I would really like to give this a try. Guess I’ll have to dig around online to see if I can find the right books.
The Mystuc Theurge really just gives you a bit of flexibility in casting. It doesn’t really add to the Druidic flavor. The hierophant adds to wild shaping, has you combine your familiar and animal companion, and lets you channel magic through your new familiar/companion. And I just haven’t found anything that really feels like it in PF.
There was a 3.5 prestige class called ’arcane hierophant’ for wizard/ druid multi-classed characters. I haven’t found a PF equivalent yet.
The paper master thing isn’t meshing I think. There are just too many bits that aren’t working right now. I’d have to make a new class for it really work properly. Maybe use some of the sphere bits as bases to modify and cobble it together. I’ll probably keep working on it, maybe I can use it later. The gambler idea should still work I think. Just trying to work up a way to simulate the flurry of blows since the Drifting Lotus loses it. I was looking at the Gun Kata talent and Duel wielding sphere. Maybe even a bit of a magus so I can work in magic to the attacks. Kinda turning into a gambling street fighter, like they should be in the roster to a SF or SNK game. ;) As always, I welcome feedback.
Tenro wrote: I'm unfamiliar with the series but what specific abilities are you trying to do? I've done a good bit of spheres stuff so I could maybe help recreate stuff. Thank you for the help. Most of what the can do I think I can duplicate using the Create sphere (alter only, since they manipulate paper not create it), Enchantment, and some Telekinesis. Maybe a bit of Divination and Protection. They can create tools, weapons, golems, and even clothing that can pass as real regular clothing. (That bit I’m not sure how to pull off). The clothing also doubled as a protective layer. That can sense books and papers, almost as if they call out to the paper master. In the series they’ve been shown stopping a bullet at point blank with a single sheet. Create walls of paper that stood up to explosions. Cutting through steel and concrete easily with paper formed into a paper thin whip-like attack. Fought guys with electric swords and fire staves using paper swords and sheets of paper as shields. Bound a bus sized creature, anchored it into place by sinking the end of the tendril into the street, and then sever it with a simple scissor like motion of her fingers.
Sorry or the rambling. :p
I keep changing my mind. I know I want the Drifting Lotus as my base. I’m having trouble deciding between gunslinger or rogue as the second and full arcane caster or a specialist caster (the paper master I’m trying to work out) as the third. My first idea had been the monk/gunslinger/caster, it would make a fun ‘gambler’ type. And the second idea was a monk/rogue/caster that would make a fun ‘cat burglar’ type. The paper master gimmick would have to be full caster just to get enough talents to pull it off I think. But there are still a few things they can do that I’m still trying to figure out how to reproduce.
I was trying to fine tune a ‘sphere’ caster to basicly be a master with a single substance, but not one of the elements. I wanted to combine it with a martial class for some one who could mix it up with range and melee as needed. Keep the enemy guessing.
Alrighty, here's an idea for a custom race. Well really it's just a beefed up race. I took the Kitsune and tried to make it more magical and trickier. What do you think? Kistune, Greater Abilitiy score modifiers: Advanced 4rp
Defense Racial Traits:
Feat & Skill Racial Traits:
Magical Racial Traits:
Movement Racial Traits:
Offense Racial Traits:
Senses Racial Traits:
Okay, I've never used the 'spheres' or made a gestalt character. So i had a couple question, to to clarify on what I think its saying. 1) For gestalt characters, they way it looks to be written, each level you can choose new classes for both (or in this case all three) aspects. So its almost like regular multi classing, right? 2) Classes don't have to be modified the 'spheres' options, but can be if we want? 3) 'Sphere' casting completely replaces regular spell use? The concept I was kicking around was Arcanist / Summoner / Gunslinger, or something like that combination.
Name : Havoc
PS I don't have the books for this so I hope we can work this out.
"Much obliged, ma'am." Booker tugs the brim of his hat in a tipping gesture to Dottie as she moves to return to her business.
