Okay, so here's a crazy idea. During my time in Japan, I thought of a VERY awesome creature... and built it! It was designed as a CR30/Mythic10 creature, but I can adjust it. I will post stats for the creature if you like the idea. It is something that I plan to actually release at some point in a mythic monster book. This is just a VERY brief rundown on the being. Name: Unknown, known to the ancients as 'The Empyrean' Physical appearance: It appears as a strange composite of flower and tentacled old god made out of a glowing material that is somewhere between a viscous liquid and a diamond-hard crystal. It pulses with a radiance that is almost like a heartbeat. It's tentacles wave hypnotically in the air. Personality: Unknowable, but definitely inimical to life in the current cosmos. Powers and general abilities:
The Empyrean shuns physical combat completely, instead using its impressive psionic and temporal might to crush foes. Below are some of it's abilities with very brief descriptions.
Rippling Paradox: Starting the first round of combat, the Empyrean 'saves' 6 rounds of combat. This requires the GM to note what ALL rolls did. On the sixth round, the Empyrean chooses three of those rolls and flexes time to warp the events of those rolls, causing them to be counted as natural 1s and applies them retroactively to combat. This repeats every 6 rounds. Cannot be applied to saves against Annihilate Consciousness.
Reality Schism: Every 1d4 rounds, the Empyrean pulls a duplicate of a PC from an alternate timeline. This duplicate is an exact copy of the PC but has 3 negative levels. The duplicate has whatever buffs and equipment the PC currently has on him. The duplicate is immediately hostile to the PC and his allies.
Psionics: The Empyrean has a manifester level of 30, can use powers from any psionic class, and all powers are automatically treated as their mythic counterparts. The Empyrean has 1,000 power points and is immune to effects that negate it's ability to use psionics.
Destructive Siphon: The Empyrean continuously drains the minds of those near it, draining either power points or, if the target has no power points, mental ability scores. It heals five times the amount of the drain.
Annihilate Consciousness: The Empyrean can use it's infinite consciousness to crush a PC's mind as a full round action. The PC makes multiple WILL saves. If no save is failed, the PC is counted as shaken. If one save is failed, the PC's brain hemorrages, caused a large amount of initial damage and bleed damage. If two saves are failed, the PC is stunned for several rounds and suffers the above damage. If all three saves are failed, the PC's mind is completely destroyed and replaced by a copy seeded by the Empyrean. This slays the PC and raises him the next round with the psionic lich template under the complete control of the Empyrean. PCs who save are immune to this ability for 3 minutes (30 rounds).
Hypnotic Tendrils: The Empyrean can weave it's tentacles as a free action, creating a hypnotic effect that can effect targets as per fascination.
Unreality: The Empyrean's alien physiology constantly shifts between dimensions. This translates into EVERY attack having a 25% miss chance. It can also outright ignore one attack per round.
Infinite Consciousness: The Empyrean is immune to all mind-affecting effects, death effects, and similar status effects. It also regenerates 10 power points per round.
Reactive Spasm: Once below 50% HP, the Empyrean's mind spasms in pain. This unleashes a wave of psionic energy that reflects the injury it receives to all targets within 30 feet.
I think that fits the role quite nicely, if I do say so myself! Edit: The Empyrean would be the Veiled Master BEHIND the Veiled Masters!
I will be back after Deborah's funeral. I just haven't been able to do so since she passed. She was like a second mother to me here in the states and she is sorely missed. If you guys don't mind, please pray for Matt and his family. They are heartbroken over this turn of events. On a related note for this campaign: Divinitus has dropped his slot because he has to get things arranged for the funeral, wake, and stuff and thinks it would be unfair to fill up a slot he may never use.
Hey there everyone! Just getting back now. The data technically doesn't reset until midnight, but I got the green light to post! ^_^ Why no island BBQ? ROASTED CANNIBAL MEAT FOR EVERYONE! IGNORE THE BRAIN-ROTTING PROTEINS! :P Ginganinja, you seem familiar. Why is that? Are you in one of TSPs campaigns? it seems like that's where I remember you from. If you are, you have my apologies for delaying him by downloading my 22 GB MMORPG with his 15 GB data plan. :/ Oh and Evangelist is green-lighted! As a note for everyone, I am tailoring some treasures to specific PCs, so the issue of 'arm-wrestling for a weapon' should only rarely occur. And is everyone interested in another PC? I know someone who is interested? We could go 5, assuming everyone is ok with it!
My bad guys! I switched to TSP's phone plan and cut my internet, then went WAY over on his data! Went 6 GB over, so I owe him $90 on the phone bill/internet bill lolz! I wanted to try that Forsaken World MMORPG, because a good bit of people seem so obsessed with it, but it was like 22 GB in download and patches... so whoopsie! I can show you all my messages, if you want to see the message about how bad I went over the data usage! Thankfully, he's a sweetheart and didn't get uber-mad about it, so I've been trying not to use too much. He said I could let you all know the circumstances, since I was sort of squirming wanting to let everyone know what was up. The data resets at the end of the month, so only a few days delay! So, a few quick questions before I have to scamper off for 2-3 days. 1. Resume point? 2. Add players/keep existing players only and make you guys a bit stronger? 3. Change character creation guidelines in general to boost power? 4. Straight Serpent's Skull storyline or extra homebrew added to it? 5. Continuing the campaign past book 6 into the Mythic range? 6. Introduce Kingdom-building mechanics at a later point that makes a lot of sense? 7. Is everyone fine with me, when I get extremely bored, posting like 5-6 posts a day? I can understand if not.

Sorry about the lack of posts, I was busy with the Khans of Tarkir prerelease stuff the last few days! To answer your questions. 1. I typically expand on pre-written material, but keep it all within the flavor of the preexisting material. For example, gibbering mouthers in Carrion Crown, but none in Reign of Winter. 2. I prefer 1+ posts a day. I try to post more than once, but some days are busy, especially on MtG days! I am also ok with people missing posts due to real life, because it happens. I would be a hypocrite to not say it, since sometimes life has kept me from posting! 3. I agree with Helio, it's up to you all whether or not you want more party members! As I plan on tweaking all encounters anyway, it will not be stretch to make them survivable for just you three! And I am, of course, amenable to giving you all boosts to increase survivability, if you would prefer that! 4. We can reboot entirely, rewind to a scene, or continue on, as you all see fit. 5. As for rules modifications, that depends on you all. I generally run games with higher power levels on both sides, because it makes the game much quicker and more intense, but if you want to stay with your current rules and stats, that's fine. I'm also gestalt and 3PP friendly. 6. As for my playstyle, I can post something for you. Give me a prompt! :) 7. What I look for in players is good roleplay, friendliness, and non-D-bag stuff (No rules lawyering, no interparty warfare, no trolling, ect!)... good spelling is a plus! I'm fine if you misspell some words, just don't have a 'wut arrr yu doin' type of speech, unless your character has a heavy accent or a mental disability! So, what do you think?
Ok, here we go with the rap battle... embarrassment lane, here we go! -----------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Red Velvet Tiger, won't find a GM that rolls no higher! I come from the East Coast, better watch those nat 1s PC or I'll turn you into a ghost! I've been playing this game since middle school, I'll get my Goblin Dogshanker and shank a fool! I'm a GM cold as ice, mistress of murder with 'dem dice! Now I don't know what you heard, dude, but you get munchkin with me, I'll GM fiat crit and turn you into monster food! You hear these ill rhymes I'm dropping? I thought so, because from across the net I can see your eyes popping! This girl don't need to learn no music, that's too hard, I'll just Sound Burst you with my level 20 Bard! But what's this you say? It's a rap battle? I'll throw you overboard in the Shackles and make you dog-paddle! Roleplay isn't just for sex, son, it's for gunslinger and the poor schmuck staring down the barrel of his gun! Now that I've laid down the law, are you going to roll that tongue back up in your jaw? That's all I've got today, PCs, feel free to throw me some GPs!
How's that for a horrible rap battle? XD
Thanks for your blessings, Horrorshow! ^_^ I will likely put up a new recruitment, because some character creation guidelines will be different. I will also be linking some of my books to Google Docs so everyone can utilize some cool gothic horror material I have (Almost all 3.X Ravenloft books, all of Legendary Games' Gothic Grimoire series, Fat Goblin Games' Shadows Over Vathak, ect.) to make their character fit their vision for it. For legal purposes, the files will be read-only, so if you use one, you'll need to transcribe the relevant material yourself, but that shouldn't be a problem, right? To answer Juan's points: I will be waiting for people to change stats before selection, but I will be selecting based on fluff. Why? Because several of the books I am putting up for people to look at may spark new ideas and, therefore, their concepts may change. I'm not really changing much in the AP besides making monsters stronger and, in some cases, more numerous. Most APs are, unfortunately, TOO easy to run through anyway, so I would tweak the encounters anyway. And we're not doing a full-on gestalt... it'll be like a, er, pseudo-gestalt, so it won't be ramping up power levels to an 'IT'S OVER 9,000!!!' level, just increasing options in combat. Also Pura, good news for you: I have the Advanced Bestiary and it has the Daemon-Possessed template! It will need altering a bit, but I can manage. I used to do game design, so have no fear. I am considering adding madness rules too, as well as giving 'darker magic' the Ravenloft treatment (More powerful with better effects, but oh if it backlashes!). The applicants can vote on these, of course, because they're not necessary. And lastly, certain material will be added to the AP, such as the modules for CC Legendary Games made, the Carrion Hill module, and a PFS adventure or two set in Ustalav (Any ideas on these?). Does this mean you'll have more loot than a regular PC in the campaign? Yes, but APs often 'underloot' PCs to artificially increase difficulty and why increase the difficulty by gimping PCs loot instead of making enemies deadlier? Exactly lol! ^_^
As a bit of a side note, the other applicant will likely be applying a fallen Psychopomp of Pharasma, exiled to the material plane as punishment for daring to interfere in the judgement of the dead in the name of mercy. He walks Ustalav in search of meaning in a world that holds none, striking up a friendship with the professor. That's all I know of the applicant's concept at present.
I MAY BE WILLING TO RUN THIS! Sorry for the bold letters, I just want everyone to see it, since the official close post was previous. In full disclosure, the campaign will allow almost any race/class combination, so long as it seems like it would fit in a gothic horror campaign. The campaign will either be a watered-down gestalt (PCs gain both sets of class abilities and skill lists, but only one of the two sets of statistics, which is to say only the BAB, HD, saves, ect. from ONE of the classes!) or perhaps a standard game, but everyone gains a scaling template or something. In any case, just let me know who is interested! I rather like many of the PC concepts, so it would likely be a closed recruitment, with only one addition to the applicants. ^_^
Maybe we could offer our styles, Helio, and let the PCs decide who they would prefer? That way, they can be assured they get the GM they are looking for! If it's me, that's great, if not, that's great too, because I love when a PC-GM match is perfect! ^_^ If the PCs are interested in this, just post a prompt and I will respond to it in my style! :)
