Perception Checks-Everyone who attempted one passed:
There are a few figures who seem... out of place in the crowd. They seem oddly divorced from the growing tide of frustration and resentment. Are they friend or foe, you wonder? Simon's Diplomacy:
You spoke at length with a rather stunning young woman wearing a dress that skirts the lines of the city's ordinance on fine clothing, [b]"You better believe Thrune is a bloody menace! They burned down my home and disbanded our noble house! All those centuries the manor lay in my family's hands and this... barbarian burns it down. And it's not just the manor either, because everyone who opposed his 'occupation' of our city was either shaken down by the dottari for suspicions of treason or some other trumped up charge or else had their home burned down with them in it. The dottari's official line was that it was insurrectionists, but I KNOW it was that odious little man Barzilai Thrune! I will be a wallflower no longer; I will add my voice to those assembled here and let the tyrant know that we have all had enough!". Rett:
A response to your first post. A passing Gnoll that you don't recognize dressed in military garb walks by and eyes you suspiciously with his one good eye. He stops and sniffs for a moment before grunting out a chuckle and walking away. Hopefully he did not see through your disguise. Due to the nature of the checks, I will allow those who made them a chance to respond before proceeding.
I HAVE RETURNED AND I BRING COOKIES! Well, figurative cookies that exist only in your head, but cookies nonetheless! ^_^ I will update everyone on how things went. Deborah's funeral took a bit longer to put together than most because of Desiree's plans for everything. The purple casket, a color she chose because of pancreatic cancer, had to be custom ordered, a lot of distant relatives had to be called and allowed time to show up, and it took a while to get other special arrangements set up for the funeral. After the funeral, I stayed with TSP/Divinitus. My boss asked me to fulfill the secondary duties of my position as his now-primary secretary and represent him in Tokyo, so I took TSP/Divinitus with me to help him take his mind off of the recent tragedy. It worked extremely well and in between business meetings, which went surprisingly well despite how sexist most claim Japan is, we saw the hanging gardens, went to a cool little niche restaurant where monkeys dressed as waiters serve the food and booze, got to visit the neon district, and lots of other cool stuff! So, after that period of tragedy and emotional cleansing, I feel ready to come back and return to my campaigns. Let me get a preliminary showing of hands before we start back in case I need to fill any spots beforehand, yeah? I should be back to post after the party tonight.
For a city that prides itself on its diversity, creative spirit, and artistry, the yoke of martial law is particularly onerous. With Barzillai Thrune’s inquisitors and dottari thugs growing increasingly aggressive in their enforcement of martial law—and his increasingly ridiculous proclamations—the undercurrent of revolution is building in the city. The Night of Ashes only delayed the inevitability of a full-scale rebellion, and the first real hint of Kintargo’s future. The atmosphere in Kintargo is tense. Numerous minor protests against Thrune have popped up, only to be quickly dispersed by dottari, Hellknights of the Rack imported from the south to aid in crowd control, or the local militia known as the Chelish Citizens’ Group. It’s been a week since Thrune seized control of the city, an word on the street is that the largest protest yet will be gathering in Aria Park, just south of the Kintargo Opera House where Barzillai Thrune has made his new home. For whatever reason, you have attended the protest to be staged in Aria Park. Even with the cobblestones of Argent Avenue and the foliage of Aria Park still wet from the morning’s light rain, dozens of Kintargans have gathered along the facade of the opera house to protest the city’s new lord-mayor, Paracount Barzillai Thrune. The city’s new leader was appointed by Her Infernal Majestrix, Queen Abrogail II, in the wake of the previous lord-mayor’s sudden flight from the city— an event that still has local rumormongers whispering furiously. In a scant seven days, Paracount Thrune has instituted martial law, a curfew, and seven outlandish and polarizing proclamations. These actions and more have called many of Kintargo’s dissatisfied citizens here on this overcast morn. There’s been no sign yet of Barzillai Thrune himself, and the opera house’s doors remain tightly
This is the placeholder post while I get the map prepared. You can RP while I tinker with it and get the thing usable. I am right assuming that people want a map to place their icons on and have a real tactical sense, yeah?
I'm going to try and make these selections quick because tonight is the weekly party, which is oddly two days early! This selection was pretty bloody hard because so many of you had quality characters and seem like really good players and people. I congratulate each and every one of you! But you don't want to hear the obvious compliments, you want to know who was selected, yeah? Simon Blue-Eye, Blink Vala, Rett the Unbreakable, Aleksara Darksoul, and Shiri Dog-Catcher! Misfits and oppressed people of Kintargo unite! ^_^ I will be putting gameplay up in a few minutes so that you can dot and all that soz! :)
Hey guys! I will be helping out the newbies in my guild do HFC until 11:00 tonight, so I will not post until then! Have a good day! ^_^ I have my selections ready for you guys, but the raid starts soon and I need to get flasks, savage feasts, and stuff ready to go. Sorry I didn't post last night, I was quite tired, what with bloody double shifts and all! I will try and make sure it doesn't happn again, yeah?
That's the kind of mentality I have about the game. That one PC, who was thankfully kicked from our group after he mind-controlled my barbarian because people wanted to kill the child-sacrificing villain and he needed a meat shield in case things got ugly between us and him, really made me see how some people want to rule that they can do things because the rules allow it because of some bloody unforseen way to break it. Kind of like MtG in that regards, because screw bloody legacy cantrips, high tide, tron, and Yosei-lock decks. And Karn, that obnoxious joker! Edit: Replying to Rednal. Didn't see you there drbuzzard! :/
My main issue was immersion-breaking moments. Divinitus once ran WotR for me and a few friends years ago when it first came out as a home campaign session. One of our players decided to make an intimidate bard. Well, the whole game was basically other PCs stand while he talked and scared away demons, mad cultists, and undead just by making colorful threats to them. That sort of soured the as-written rules of intimidate and some of the feats that make it busted. Same thing goes with diplomacy, although bluff thankfully has a mechanism in place to prevent TOO MUCH abuse. I am just of the firm belief that not every situation can be solved with words because some things are just too sodding thick or arrogant to really care, yeah?
Okay, so good and bad news! The good news: recruitment closes tomorrow and selections will be a day or two after that! The bad news: a woman at my workplace, let's call her Suzy Q. to conceal her real name, has decided to lay off her 2nd shift work because of a sprained pinky finger... so I will be working double shifts until someone fills in for me on Sunday! My posting will likely be as bloody scarce as it has been the last two days for that period of time as a result. :( Intimidate: I will perhaps allow for it to be used on select devils but the fear effect cannot reach over a certain level. There is actually a way to cause panicked condition on successful intimidates by taking a few obscure feats and what I think is a trait. No one wants a 'godlike sleep witch' scenario arising from intimidate. Or rather, I don't! And flavorwise some villains just don't make sense being scared by a mortal without sufficient cause. Seeing a pit fiend cowering to a mortal for anything reason other than using feigned fear as a ploy or mockery to mess with the mortals head is just weird, unless they have a permadeath/containment thingie. Imps will definitely be subject to full fear though.
Oyzar: That is okay. Cydrius: Yes and yes. Just remember the golden rule of intimidate: although by RAW anyone not immune to fear can be intimidated, there are those for whom words mean nothing. Devils for instance are immune to intimidate. What does a creature living for eons in Hell have to fear from a mortal after all?
Well, yesterday was productive! Finally finished Fallout 4 at level 89 and teared up at the ending! T_T Today was less fun, with a 'fun' double shift but I finally got done with that sodding garbage. Deadline for submissions is 3 days. Work diligently! Jongarret: No, I just thought you were asking for it for free! My mistake. :) Oyzar: Any of those can be used if you provide proper story justification. No more questions for the lady?
JonGarret: Merciful is fine if oracle is the class that you draw your extra class features from. Spacefurry: Most of the proposed ideas are fine, but remember that no spells can be gained from the class feature. Chejop: In the case of feats, rogue talents, and such, I guess I could allow 4 levels of it per selection.
Oyzar: Interesting background! ^_^ Chejop: For your first question (a) and for your second question (a) but no limitations. JonGarret: I have no idea what SoP is about. I know Divinitus mentioned it a while back, but I have NO idea how it works. I will probably go over and check it out. Is it okay if I don't message you back about that until tomorrow? I need to see if the options are balanced or rubbish, yeah?
Interest still high on this? Working on the niggling little details of the CC process right now, which may be subject to change after I run through it with a party or two. I cannot remember if there is a free PG supplement for WotW or not. Is there? If not, I will probably get around to making one! ^_^
Just got back from Valentine's Day shopping! Who won't love chocolate and caramel hearts? There are so many Animal Crossing people I know that I got a VD gift that I probably looked crazy walking out of GameStop with a large bag full of AC amiibos and trading cards! ^_^ I will probably select five characters. If there is another character that I just cannot resist including I will make the campaign a six-man team.
In my humble opinion, every version of Microsoft since 7 has been a bloody disaster in some way or another. It is sad when the current state of affairs is that they are having to keep making new versions to try to match 7 while keeping the dumb app compatibility. The only good thing from Windows 10 has been allowing a person to sync up a XB1 or PS4 controller to play computer games, which makes PC mech games MUCH easier to play!
Sorry about not posting much yesterday. I was trying to fix a friend's computer. Windows 10 had screwed with his firewall and I was like "WUT WAZ MICROSOFT THINKING?!". Not as bad as Windows 8, but still! Faelyn: So long as you have the information for your crunch and fluff readily accessible by me then it should be good! :) Simon Blue-Eye: You're a Blood Angel too?! YAAAAAS! ^_^
Doomed Hero: Nice! That's a, at least least in America, rather obscure figure, so Kudos! ^_^ EmissaryOfTheNorth: DoD is awesome! The initiation ritual I read, having the pentacle of Asmodeus carved into your chest and filled with molten iron that is allowed to harden, is pretty metal! Quite literally! :P Sir Longears: The template is fairly weak, so yes, I would say so! QuidEst: Kind of like the old Thief of Lives classic villain, right? "I take your fortune, now I take your existence." There will be two slotted players using a character that is part sorceror, part some sort of time-manipulator and a necromancer of some sort respectively. There is going to be three or four slots open for the campaign, so there should be plenty of room for others to apply! ^_^
Hello everyone! I decided to go on a short road trip somewhere for a few hours. I'm back! Due to Oyzar's suggestion, and me having forgotten all about background skills in Pathfinder Unchained, you get those! Oyzar: Those are all cool ideas! I will allow them. Tara Ravenheart: Decided on a build yet?
I don't have any specific things not considered core yet, but I just wanted to know what my options are. Another question, which I just now realized that I should ask. I played the Pinebox, Texas campaign material from before ETU and have the ETU PG. Will this affect me getting selected? I figured that it would be best to be honest about that.
I have awoken from my drunken slumber and am still interested in creating this campaign! It will probably be three or four weeks before I post an recruitment unless I can get my mate to help me balance and playtest the first book for that high of a level. Until that time, you can ask me questions about my thoughts on how things will be rules-wise, discuss character concepts with me, and ask for things that you might want included in the campaign. Things that I have already determined are going to either work differently or be absent from available options altogether:
Paladins are disallowed for obvious reasons
Leadership will be changed to benefit the organization instead of giving adventuring aids Most templates will not be allowed unless they are things like a watered down vampire template or lycanthrope or similar template, Paizo-only races, no custom races Feats with a BAB +1 requirement have that requirement removed Gestalt will work differently but better at accomplishing what it is intended for Antipaladins can be of any evil alignment Barbarians and bards can be lawful The evil prestige classes that have an ability like damned have that ability removed Players don't need a feat in order to get improved familiar Animal companions and familiars get an archetype for free (See the animal companion and familiar archetypes on d20pfsrd for details) and will receive a general power boost that is yet to be determined Summoners will be altered a bit so that they are less of a command a legion class and more of a Final Fantasy-esque summoner of singular beings of great power I will probably update the Book of Vile Darkness, Exemplars of Evil, Elder Evils, and Libris Mortis content to Pathfinder levels and give updates to content if you ask nicely! I know that I will be using some updated Book of Exalted Deeds material! ^_^ Cartmanbeck: I would definitely allow it! ^_^
ABP: No ABP. Oyzar: Oh yeah, I forgot about the buckler! Buckler doesn't actually count as wearing a shield for the purposes of dual-wielding and spellcasting. Edgerson: For a long time, I called it backstab as well! Force of habit from video games, I suppose. Simon Blue-Eye: Yes, that is fine! Raven Silvertongue: Can you send me the backstory and statblock? |
