Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the *ugk*

"Shaddup! We gots more portant stuff to talkytalk bout! Dat 'Find da Pafs' game be making Number Two and it gots Gobbos in it!!! We gots to practice so all can see we be da bestest at all the things! Dat means I need all my top Gobs to step up! Kick names! Take butt! Now, sound off my Gobbos! Let's get dis thing started!"

All right, everyone, it's time for some Kingmaker - with a twist. As usual, a group of brave adventurers have received a charter and are on their way to explore the Greenbelt. Unfortunately, they're about to run into some Goblins and be brutally massacred. At the moment, I have no idea what'll happen next, but it'll probably have something to do with Goblins attempting to become kings of the Stolen Lands or something equally ridiculous. This is where I'll be recruiting those Goblins.

If you've been involved with any of my other campaigns, you'll know that I use a multistage process that doesn't involve crunch until near the end. This way, I'm able to get to know the prospective players in addition to the proposed characters. As I'm sure you know, the PbP format is rather slow, and an extended campaign such as an Adventure Path takes several years to get through. As such, I'll be looking for people with staying power.

Here's what I need from you right now:
- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?

In the interest of fairness, here's my writeup:
Hi, I'm Whack-a-Rogue/YBD, a sign language interpreter and former PFS Store Liason. I live in Central Florida (EST) and work in the public school system, so I have a good bit of free time until the beginning of August. I've been playing Pathfinder since Ultimate Equipment came out and would consider myself extremely knowledgeable system-wise. I'm also an enormous fan of 3pp and find it an excellent way to balance things and create interesting character concepts that aren't easily done in vanilla Pathfinder. Some of my favorite alternate systems are Spheres of Power/Might. As a player (and as a GM), I prefer a good balance of roleplay and rollplay. Interactions between PCs are a particular love of mine, and if PCs are roleplaying well, I have no problem delaying a plot update until the interaction is done. I like my combats interesting and will generally cut out or handwave encounters that the party would steamroll. Since PbP is so slow, it's important to keep things moving, and nothing bogs a game down like combat.

As mentioned in the interest thread, I'm currently running a Reign of Winter campaign that's been going for about five years. Despite some player attrition, it's survived two moves, a job change, illness, and more. I've found that one post per day works best for me - especially as I'm generally unable to post from work. When my games slow down, I tend to wait a few days, then post in Discussion to check in. I also PM players who go inactive to make sure that they're okay. Sometimes life happens, after all.

Other game-related stuff: I'm not particularly verbose, so if you're looking for thousand-word essays about crinkling grass and falling leaves, this isn't the game for you. On the other hand, is your approach to NPC interactions is "I roll Diplomacy. 23", you won't be a good fit, either. As mentioned above, I'm quite knowledgeable about Pathfinder RAW, but I'm also a big fan of 'Rule of Cool.' If you want to do something that's not exactly in the rules, we can probably work something out. That's about it for me right now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm looking forward to gaming with you. XD

One last thing before I end this already-lengthy post: I'm not looking for character concepts just yet. However, as I know you're already brainstorming, realize that this isn't a campaign for redeemed Goblin heroes. I'm looking for traditional Pathfinder Goblins who love fire, hate dogs and horses, and would burn down an orphanage if they thought it would be funny. Kingmaker is a very sandboxy campaign, so there's plenty of room to create chaos - and that's where a fair bit of this game's plot will come from. The Greenbelt is an enormous land of potential plot hooks, and while Kingdom building will undoubtedly happen at some point, that's not necessarily going to be the focus of the campaign. Goblins don't tend to be good at bookkeeping, after all - and are easily distracted by shineys or loud noises. I'm fine with one PC being semi-Good to serve as the group's 'shoulder angel,' but no more than that. Also, I'm allowing a single 'honorary Goblin' spot: a Kobold, Grippli, or Mite. The point of this campaign, though, (once again) is for a bunch of Goblins to wreak havoc across the Stolen Lands.

Okay, this post is more than long enough. Have fun!

dotty dot mc-dot dot
quick question: would you allow a monkey goblin?

Perhaps. Are they native to the Stolen Lands?

well, they're in the inner sea bestiary... hmmm, it looks like they're mainly on the west coast of Garund. So no prob if not

Scarab Sages

I may throw may hat in with some sort of halarious goblin inventor/ spreader of the fire.... but I'll wait a few days. Ive had such a great time with feline samurai's involved in winter that why wouldnt i be interested in kingdom o'chaos... but ive yet to get inspiration for a rousing goblin song

The Exchange

Hey I was just wondering if you had all your players already selected for this adventure?

If not, I'll throw my name in the hat with the initial write up.

Hello!

A little about me:
I've been off the internet for 4-5 months due to some training I received with the Army. Right now I'm stationed in Oklahoma but will be moving bases soon, looks like it should be in North Carolina but nothing is certain with the Army. I've been involved with Pathfinder since 2011 and PFS since 2012. I used to be a real rules nazi but I learned to just move on and have become a lot more laid back and go with the flow of the GM. Right now I should be able to do a fairly decent posting schedule. I am off "work" around 1630-1700 CST everyday but if I need to post during the day I can squeeze one out during a lunch break.

Inter party conflict can be difficult to resolve, most of my characters are more laid back and willing to go with the general theme. I'm not usually one to create a lot of conflict within a party. If I disagree with another character it can usually be resolved. If its a disagreement with another player is when I hope we can both be adults and work through the issues together in the Discussion chat.

I've played a fair bit of PbP and I'd like to think I'm a pretty decent role-player. I usually GM'd but since I'm only now returning from a 5 month hiatus I wanted to get back into the flow of things with playing in a PbP before starting up GMing again. I am not the verbose fella but I won't bore you with my posts either.

I also totally understand if you don't pick me. Being the Army can make things a bit difficult. Its honestly why I'm super hesitant to get back into things but I want to try. I wouldn't be submitting my name in this if I didn't think I could maintain the commitment. As long as you don't require like 5 posts a day I should be good :)

*edit

3pp knowledge:

I know some/bits of 3pp but really not that much. Its been a while since I used 3pp material or needed too. I've never really been against it, I know tons of great 3pp writers but I've just never had a player try to use 3pp materials.

Hey! I am a gamer located in the Mid-West Central Time Zone. I have been playing Pathfinder since the beta release way back when. I am active in my weekly gaming group where we are working on Strange Aeons. My PBP experience is that I am a GM running some old school modules. Its been a load of fun. I have never played a PBP that has lasted, so I am crossing my fingers on this one. I am active daily on the PBP boards. As a GM and player I like a pacing of at least one post per day. If things are slowing down or falling silent I would bring the discussion to the discussion page for the game. One thing you should know about me. When I run and play its CORE only, so 3pp I know nothing about them. But, I am willing to learn.

For my play/posting style click my icon and follow to my active campaigns.

*EDIT* Inner party conflict is welcomed and the characters should grow from it within the game. The Players need to know that it is only a game and for everyone to have fun there should be some give and take.

- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself? I'm Jeff, a currently unemployed gamer who started with 3.5 after years of wanting to play D&D, my timezone is Central Daylight Time and I am the single most killed guy in my original group. And I accidentally let a worg eat our Gripplie Rogue.
- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict? I've been playing Pathfinder since it first came out, we made the jump when 3rd edition ended. I have multiple 3pp classes that I'm looking forward to subjecting you to. I prefer about an even split between role/rollplay and interparty conflict is usually handled non violently, something I somewhat expect to change since we're Goblins.
- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent? I've PBPing for several years now after my old group broke apart due to most of them moving out of town and have been playing Rise of the Runelords for a year and a half to 2 years now. I prefer to let things go at their own pace, it's worked well for my current group and our core is still going strong.
- Is there anything else you'd like me to know? As mentioned in the interest check I was just considering doing a goblin kingdom building myself, if I go unselected I may Shanghai your recruitment thread to find my own people.

About Me:
I have been RPG tabletop roleplaying on and off for the last 15 years, starting in D&D 3rd edition and moving to Pathfinder around 2007. So I've got a pretty good comprehension of the Pathfinder side of things, as for 3pp I haven't ever used them, mainly because all the PRD stuff, for the most part, is online for easy access and the 3pp stuff isn't. I live in northern Georgia and I am married and have two kids. Aside from PbP games, I have a regular VTT game I play in. Otherwise my time is spent with the family, doing house or school work (working on a dual MBA/MSIS), or playing a video game.

As to my style I enjoy in-depth roleplay but I am not the kind of guy to write a 1000 word description about the scene or a 500 word monologue, but I do love getting into some player roleplay. In fact, that is how I met my current VTT GM and a fellow VTT player that I have been playing with for several years now. I do also enjoy rollplay, but completely understand the difficulties inherent with PbP games. I've been playing PbP games on and off for the last 3-4 years. I've DMed a number of successful modules, and tried running some AP's that have collapsed from player attrition and major life changes (2 kids, moving, changing jobs, bla bla). I'm at the beginning of running a Hell's Rebel AP as we speak, that I am thoroughly enjoying. I work in IT in the local school district so I have a decent amount of flexibility, since I am often in front of a computer, to post. As such, I can often get in a few posts a day, weekends can be more difficult for me. On the conflict front, I'm a pretty laid back dude, so I try to resolve conflict quick so we can move on to the good stuff.

As to the game, I have a couple ideas for goblins, but I also wouldn't mind a Sootscale Kobold emissary to add to the party. To note, my current VTT game that I play in is actually Kingmaker, though we are still at the early stages of book 1.

Greetings and salutations.

Lengthy Post:

I am Vitaliano Da Riva (AKA Jing the Bandit for my Pathfinder side of things.)I am in Missouri so I'm CST. I am a young, medically retired Marine who has too much time on their hands so I've chosen to play tabletop in as many variances as I can possibly do. (I've played probably like 10 different rule systems, so I have a lot of fun learning stuff and toying with the system.)

I feel that I have a fairly good grasp on the Pathfinder system, I've been playing in the PbP arena for about three years (I'm a part of a Vampire the Masquerade campaign for just as long on paizo.) but have been playing in person for about five or six so Pathfinder was fairly new when it came out. I'm not the biggest on 3pp simply because I have seen a lot of it out there that are broken or unbalanced IMO and that's mostly because that's what I've seen people try to slide under the radar. But, I have seen some that are actually pretty fun sounding and fairly balanced so as long as the GM understands the system well enough to keep things in check a bit, we're good to go.

I enjoy a good mix of Roleplay with Rollplay. I don't like seeing someone just roll a dice and that's all but at the same time, I hate when someone attempts to simply just take over a situation with pure roleplay and can't back it up remotely mechanically. If you talk and are trying to influence the gameplay, I assume there is a roll involved. I do enjoy when a GM gives bonuses for good Roleplay to help your Rollplay. I enjoy a bit of inter-party conflict but I try to never bring it to blows. I've had it happen in the past and once another player is attacked, honestly one of the two should just bow out because bad blood will always exist. My thoughts mostly are to argue in character, and talk it out outside of character. If the majority agrees it should go one way...then the group should roleplay it out and concede.

I don't know if there is honestly a campaign I'm particularly proud of, most of the ones I've enjoyed the most have died but I am fairly fluent? in PbP. Obviously you could read some from the VtM campaign this character is from. I play a Malkavian in the Dark Ages with some homage to Jack the Ripper. I prefer once a day and once in a weekend if possible. Typically I try to talk to the GM or players to see if there is anything we can do to get back on track with our posting frequency and ask people to do the same to me if they see me slacking. I have had a bad week or two in the past due to chronic pain and crippling depression getting the better of me but I still try to escape via video games and tabletop.

Honestly I'm unsure if there is really anything further to add? I guess, I feel confident enough recently to start GMing myself on the boards as I feel I should be giving back to the community that helps with my sanity. If there is anything you wish to know, I'm pretty open about most everything. OH, I suppose a better interesting fact is I have a Great Dane as a Service Dog to help me get around and help deal with my mental issues.

I suppose I should offer, I typically before dice to point buy (I'm fine with point buy if it's at least 20.) And I'd probably attempt to be the wee Kobold of the group but I'm quite fine with pitching a Goblin instead if I see that a lot of people are trying out for the exception character. As far as roles are concerned, I love pretty much all but Wizard, Arcanist, or Sorcerer. Everything else, I enjoy playing in one iteration or another.

- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
Hi, my name is Rob. I'm a professor of archaeology and anthropology, and have been playing RPGs for over 30 years. I'm in MN so central time zone. Games are the way I decompress so I tend to be pretty active.

- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I'm pretty familiar at this point with Pathfinder (alas, I have so few friends nearby to play the many other systems I'm familiar with). Not so much with the 3rdparty stuff though. In addition to home games, I've played PFS and a number of PbP games (over the past year or so). I prefer roleplay that's supported by roll-play. I don't mind when the dice lead me down a different path. I'm ok with inter-party conflict that's RP; having characters that don't like each other, or scheme about each other, that's usually okay. I draw the line at PK and when it's gets personal (outside of RP). I like to live by the Wheaton's Law, Don't be a dick. I prefer to hash things out with people when it gets like that (in discussion or where-ever). Sometimes, someone has to leave. I'd rather that happen than have people super-bitter or legitimately hurt.

- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
Like I said, I've been on the boards for about a year or so. I check the boards at least once per day unless I'm out of town. Usually, it's more like 4-5 times per day (I can get a tad obsessive. Sue me). When things slow down or go dark, I'll usually ask what's up. I'm ok if things have to go on hiatus for a bit; life happens. I'll still be around when things get going again. Oh, and at some level, I'm a little proud of all my games.

- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?
Like I said, this is how I relax. I like to have fun and support other people having fun as well.

Long Post:

- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
I'm a 30 old veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard. Since college I've mostly worked in the public sector, with jobs ranging from the National Guard to substitute teaching to serving as a proofreader/editor for my state legislature. I've just recently started working for the TSA. I live in Arkansas (CST). I'm left-handed.

- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I've been playing PBP on the site for three years or so, and that's the whole of my Pathfinder experience, I've never actually played on a physical tabletop (I don't know of a group within ~30 miles or so of me or I'd rectify that). I think I've come to understand the system pretty well, but I've yet to try something more advanced like GMing or writing some sort of guide. I just play. I like a lot of stuff in 3pp (Dreamscarred Psionics is a particular favorite), but tend to be a little wary of stuff I'm not familiar with, since I know the balancing philosophies of outside companies aren't necessarily the same as Paizo's. I like a good mix of roleplay and rollplay. I'm not a novelist (though I'd love to be able to write like that) but I do try to include at least a sentence or two of description for what I'm doing. I don't like an entire post to be naked dice rolls. I've been fortunate not to deal with too much interparty conflict that couldn't be resolved in the discussion thread. The GM would of course be the final arbiter, but I'd like to think players could reason together and come to a peaceful solution without the GM having to put a foot down.

- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
All of my Pathfinder experience is PBP on this site, and I've played in similar internet forums in some other games as well (living in a pretty rural area, PBP is the only good option I have, honestly). I'm in an Iron Gods campaign that's nearing the end of Book 2, and a Giantslayer game that's just finished book 1 and has really been a lot of fun. Those are probably my longest-running games. There's also a Wrath of the Righteous game I'm in that I've really enjoyed, though it's been a bit slower-going (we lost our initial GM, and the second has had a busy work schedule lately, but we're still kicking).

- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?
I am interested in how you want to pick stats. I tend to lean toward rolled stats as a personal preference, but I play a lot of point buy too. Will you be allowing drawbacks for a third trait? As or me, I tend to lean toward more combat- or skill-focused characters. I love a good gish, but I don't play many full casters, and tend to prefer spontaneous over prepared casting (the sheer volume of spell choices is still a bit daunting). Among prepared casters I do have a soft spot for Druids and Magi, but I tend to focus more on the combat side for both.

Oh, looks like you're going with evil goblins, rather than neutral ones. Since any chaotic evil campaign has to end with the players killing each other off, I think I'll bow out even though I expressed interest in the interest check thread. Good luck.

Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
My name's TheWaskally and I live in Michigan, USA (Eastern Standard Time), and I'm a former Freemason (I couldn't keep up with appearances at Lodge and yearly dues, but I still miss it).
How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I've played Pathfinder on and off (mostly on) for 10 years. I am fearful of the new edition since I've always thought the amazing customization of this edition could not be improved upon. I enjoy 3PP content when allowed! My favorite Pathfinder classes is the godling classes from Rogue Genius Games, and have played a godling on many forum campaigns. Ideally, I enjoy 55% roleplay/45% rollplay. These forum allow for great rp opportunities, and I find roleplay makes games better. Haven't had too many inter-party conflicts, but they should be handled in the Discussion Tab with GM ultimate say.
How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent
I've been on the forums hardcore for over 2 years now. It's my jam and obsession! I like campaigns were the player's are given the most freedom to create the character they want. My normal policy when it comes to slow or silent games is if the DM doesn't post within a month, I leave. But if attempts at communications are on-going, I will wait it out.
Is there anything else you'd like me to know?
I have internet at home and at work where I'm a 3rd-shift auditor, so I can post weekdays, weekends, holidays, night and day.
Also, this is a goblin wizard from a discontinued Skull & Shackles game I would like tweek for submission in your Kingmaker campaign.

So how long does your process take?

Hello,

I am not new to PbP but have been away for sometime now. I would like to get back into the swing of things. I go by Secret and I live in the Pacific North West. I am an IT specialist and an active Game Master and player using Fantasy Grounds and Roll20.

I am very experienced with Pathfinder and I am not fond of 3pp myself. If others want it sure, but usually not allowed in games I run.

I am very creative and have plenty of time to participate. I do like to play characters that are a little bit different. For example my current characters are Tiki the Grippli Oracle of Curchanus with the Clouded Vision Curse and has a pony animal companion she rides around and is training to see for her by commands (such as go to specific ally Tiki may not be able to see). Then there is Kudu the Hydrokineticist who's afraid of water and is a catfolk.

But yeah, if you need players I am a good candidate for the longevity.

About me!:

- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?

My name's Jasper. I live in Northern California. Way north. Up by the Oregon border. I have to drive 6 hours south to get to San Francisco.

Once upon a time in my misspent youth I used to train big cats for a living. At this place. Lions are dumb and ornery. Tigers are smart and friendly. Leopards are smart and ornery. Jaguars are dumb and friendly. Cougers and Cheetahs are so nice that they would make surprisingly good pets if not for the fact that they would trash your house.

As far as interesting facts go, I feel like that's a pretty good one. :)

- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?

I've been playing Pathfinder since the original Beta test. My name is in the playtest credits somewhere. I usually stick to the official Paizo rules, but I'm generally fine with 3rd part additions. There's a lot of good stuff out there. In particular, I'm a big fan of the Elephant in the Room Feat Tax fixes and the Spheres systems.

The story is the most important thing, and our descriptions are how we push it along. I am a big fan of roleplay heavy games, but I also enjoy the mechanics and use them as much as possible to support and inform my character's actions. I feel the relationship between roleplay and mechanics should be symbiotic. If I had to describe my ideal, I'd say 60% roleplay, 40% mechanics. In my opinion, the system should support the story, not be a substitute for it.

The question of inter-party conflict is a tricky one. In-game, I think inter party conflict is fine as long as everyone is into it. It's important to check in out of game when characters find themselves at odds.

There's a pretty big caveat to that though. I think the excuse of "that's what my character would do" is often overused as an excuse for players to be jerks in game. That's a pet peeve of mine. Players control the characters, not the other way around, so if someone's character is being a jerk and making the game less fun for others, it is up to the player to address their character's behavior. Finding a way to have a jerk character have a change of heart can be a powerful moment if the player is mature enough to handle being called out for their character's jerk-ness.

Out of game conflict is a whole different story. My rules are-
1) Check yourself. If I'm the one unhappy, I try to make sure my unhappiness is warranted.
2) Speak up, not out. Asking other players if they see the same issues I do is a good way to kick off a healthy discussion.
3) Ask for help. Sometimes a problem can be resolved just by asking the other players to help me solve it. It's a communal game, so solutions should be communal too.
4) Don't be afraid to walk. Sometimes playstyles just don't mix, and that's ok. If everyone else is having fun, and I'm not, it's ok for me to say so and exit the game. Luckily this rarely happens. I've been in over a hundred games on these boards, and I've only left games because of conflicts twice.

In a game like this one, where we are all playing little psychos I expect some conflict. My hope is that it stays in-game in the realm of fun.

- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?

I wrote the book. (shameless self-promotion, I know. This is a competition though, so I figure I'd better use any leverage I can)

There's quite a few games I'm proud of. You could go to my campaigns tab and pick just about any of them at random, and the story would be fun to read. If you're looking for a particular highlight, here's a good one. The relevant backstory is that the party is trying to teach an Ogrekin Antipaladin the ins and outs of human civilization so that they can infiltrate a fortress, with the magically disguised Ogre impersonating a famous knight named Sir Balin. To start with, they decide to teach him to read. Grumblejack the ogre, and his daemon servant Raaven are both played by me. The scene goes on until about the end of the linked page.

As for frequency, I'm good to post pretty much every day. Sometimes weekends are a little hard, but I try to give notice when I'm going to be short on posting time. I make up for it by being able to post multiple times a day most days.

- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?

I pride myself on my reliability. Too many games die of attrition and players dropping out without warning. You won't have to worry about any of that from me. I'm, in for the long haul every time.

Also, I love goblins.

Dot. This looks hilarious :)

Hia! This looks like an amazing idea blooming and I am glad I managed to catch onto it at the BEGINNING of the recruitment, rather then in the last 1-2 days, as has been my trend lately... >_>

Its my beddyby-time right now, however, so I will have to write up everything in the morn when I wake up ^_^

That said, a few concepts that I have been messing with recently actually involved a few goblins and might be fun to explore in this :D

GobboStoriming:

The first one was a Goblin USummoner with the Twinned Summoner archetype. Basically he has a twin that does everything he can to keep his idiot younger brother alive and they make use of Betrayal Feats like Ally Shield and Reckless Moves to protect one of them while tossing the other underneath the bus >:/
Best part is? Who cares if the older twin dies? He can just be called again the next day! Abuse him, beat him, cut him in half or burn him. OR cut him in half AND burn him >:D
He makes perfect scapegoat fodder \^-^/

Second one was if Spheres of Power were used then to make use of the Alteration Sphere and the Transformation feat to make a really messed up and mutated gobbo :,(
He REALLY dipped his finger in the Mutagen jar!
Alternatively, it could also be made using an Aberrant Aegis if Psionics are allowed.

Last one, Goblins have some neat abilities like the Over-Sized Ears Alternate Racial Trait and the Big Ears trait that can make them freakishly good at perception and so I have always wanted to create some sort of super perceptive, Wis based Gobbo since forever XD Edit: I has a brain fart. Also had an idea for a blind martial artist from before... so... combine.... them? BLIND GOBLIN FACEPUNCHER!!! XD

I know that you said you were not looking for character ideas yet, but I am too tired to write out a sufficient response to your questions but I really wanted to get something down now, as soon as I could :)
That and by jotting those down now, I don't have to worry about forgetting about them later XD

My name is Helikon and I do live in Munich, Germany(CET). I have been playing RPG´s for over 30 years, tabletop, live and online. AD&D, D&D3 + 3,5, The Black Eye, Vampire tM, Werewolf, Mage, L5R, Deadlands, Rifts and a few more.
- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I have a consistant tabletop round and we are at the moment in book three of Reign of Winter. So I would say quite extensive. My third party experience is not that extensive, had some bad experience with it.
There is no ideal formula for roleplay/rollplay. Roleplay can slog the game down to a week or worse a month worth of realtime to play one day. But pure rollplay is utterly boring and like a game of chess.
Interparty conflict must be handled on a case by case. Sometimes it is part of the game, sometimes it has no place in the game.
It can make an awesome story. But it can break a game.
- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
I do have a few consistant PbP games I have joined. Rappan Arthuk, Rise of the Runelords and Giantslayer.
I prefer a post once per day, every other at the utmost.
If the game falls silent I do check on it regulary and contact the GM. If there is phase of inactivity I try to push it.
- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?
I am a native german, but I have lived around the world. I do speak a couple fo other languages, but admittedly my best foreign language is german.

Meow:
- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?

I'm a 37-years old video game developer living in the Netherlands (CET zone). I love games, cats, books, travel, ice cream and purple. I recently started advocating for accessibility at my studio and got two pet rats (these things are not related). I've been playing ttRPGs since D&D 2nd edition.

- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?

I'm ok with Pathfinder, I have a good grasp of the basics but I'm not a fan of crunching super-optimal builds - I just go with what makes sense for my character concept. Since most GMs don't allow 3pp, I'm not very familiar with that, except with bits that would have been fun for one character concept or other (but didn't get to use because of GM ruling). I ran a Pathfinder campaign IRL for 1.5 years pretty successfully, if that gives you a better idea of my familiarity with the rules.

In terms of roleplay/rollplay, my ideal balance is about 60%/40%. I enjoy roleplay between PCs and the opportunity for my characters to influence the story. For intra-party conflict, as long as it is an IC conflict, I have no problems with it. In another game I play my character is a dhampir, and another PC hates them. The other player contacted me in a PM and we hashed out how this conflict would play out, without things escalating into inter-player conflict or hurting the cohesion of the party. Overall, I'm a team player (and a manager IRL, so I know a bit about conflict resolution), so you can expect me to approach these things constructively and with a level head.

- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?

I've been using PbP since 2007, here and on other boards. I can post about once a day, with occasional exceptions when work may become very busy, or I am travelling. If things slow down, I do my best to nudge them through my character's actions, providing hooks for others to respond to. I managed to successfully revive a campaign that was very dear to me (Curse of the Crimson Throne) when the GM had to bow out, by advertising for a new GM and reaching out to the players (most of whom returned). Incidentally, that campaign is also the one I am most proud of, and I'm also greatly enjoying my current Discord-based campaign, where I play a quirky and lovable ratfolk alchemist who specializes in exploding cookies.

I'm learning ASL. =^.^=

About Me:

I'm Tilnar, I live in Ottawa, ON, which is in the NA Eastern timezone (-4, thanks to daylight savings). The most relevant fact about myself is that I have a 10-month old daughter that prevents me from playing in person at the moment, but that I've literally been playing RPGs for almost 35 years now (going back to Red-box D&D and FASERIP Marvel Heroes, and hitting many other fun games along the way).

I've been playing PF since the playtest, and I've been playing on the forums for a very long time, also. In terms of "best" campaign, that would likely be the Age of Worms w/ GM Blood, where we made it to 10th before he didn't have the time to run it anymore -- but in terms of relevant experience to this little enterprise, there's also "We Be Goblins" which turned into a campaign itself, where the great goblin hero Velag Wordeater and a bunch of other less-famous and less-important goblins saved their tribe, some lizardfolk, and generally had fun at the expense of those around them -- Velag was 8th level when that stopped -- just as we were starting to look at doing some Planar travel.

I prefer games that go with posting once a day on the weekdays -- I find it keeps the pace going at a reasonable clip (allowing for exceptions, of course). I also tend to fall on the roleplay side -- but that said, I also think it's worth noting that sinking points into Charisma and social skills costs the same as other attributes/skills -- which is to say, I think the rolls need to matter and be backed up by the appropriate stats -- so that when wordy, fun player gives an inspiring speech at the table -- it gets filtered through his character's 5 Cha and no diplomacy -- so he may thinks he sounded great, but what others heard....

In terms of conflict, it depends -- character conflict can be a lot of fun, given the personalities (some of the best parties I was in had at least a few characters that didn't like each other -- sometimes, they'd also usually defend each other to the death -- "What the heck? You were just insulting the elf?" "Maybe, but he's still our elf.", and sometimes, they'd help much more grudgingly -- but it can be a nice bit of spice (in the right measure). That said, too much can wreck a party -- if everyone's at each other's throats things don't progress... and it takes experienced players to remember character conflict isn't player conflict (that last thing is deadly to a campaign). That said, I prefer to play in groups that set up expectations, so that if conflict becomes a problem, there's a "right way" to deal with it (generally, start with private conversation with other player, then loop in GM if needed -- and only after that, do you start a real OOC discussion with everyone about it.)

I tend to, when things fall silent, make some gentle prods, both in the iC and OOC forum -- I support botting people who fall silent during combat and skipping over them in other circumstances (ie. important discussion) -- and replacing people who fall away completely, as needed. Basically, trying to strike a balance between keeping things flowing and making allowances for real life (so I'm not going to suggest we kick someone out if they missed a week because their dad was in the hospital, for instance -- heck, I'd be out of all of my games if that were true)

In terms of 3pp, I admit, I know very little -- I kicked the tires on the psionic stuff before Paizo released Occult, found it to be not bad -- but generally, I've preferred to remain within the massive and huge amount of stuff that Paizo's published themselves.

In terms of anything else - let's see, I'm an experienced GM (but not on the forums, and not recently [see "10 month old daughter"]...

Dotting! Love me some goblins.

Goblin Mayhem:
I am a young, enthusiastic man attempting to get his feet firmly under him this time around in the world. I currently live in the States within the Eastern Time Zone bracket (-5 GMT). An interesting fact about me is that I've played goblins a few times before, irl, and even played a goblin version of RotR through the first book before commitments broke our group up.

I am rather experienced with Pathfinder, and it is by far my favorite system, though playing f2f has limited any exposure to 3pp. I've also GMed a few games, and am planning to start up a game here on the boards in a few days.

Rolling dice is the reason I first got hooked on Pathfinder as a kid, since I love to roll dice and see a story form without anyone's control. My playstyle now tends to lean much more toward roleplaying, though, and my old min/max builds have moved out for flavor-filled builds that lend to rp more than combat/rolling in general.

I am willing to have inter-party conflict between characters as long as all of the players and GM are okay and accepting of it. I have enough experience to roleplay out of such situations should someone not be comfortable with the situation, as well as finding ways to stay with a party without meta-gaming the reason away.

As for pbp, this is my second attempt to get on the boards. Two years ago, I began to try pbp. I had been told about it by my old group as I moved out on my own for a job. One accident later, I was back at my parents recuperating. On the upside, I got to rejoin my f2f games with my old group. I just recently moved once more for my new job, so I'm once again trying pbp to fill the Pathfinder sized hole that leaving my group again has caused. As for typing, I took a few 'proper' classes in school, but my main experience comes from writing short stories for my siblings. I haven't done that in a while, so I might be a little rusty until I get back in the groove. If things should slow down, though, I think a simple post in the discussion tab reminding players of who's turn it is helps in combat. Otherwise, taking the initiative to act in the gameplay when outside of combat usually helps push things along. With goblins, that should be rather simple.

I'm an overnighter, so my posts can vary depending on when I sleep. However, I'm also able to check the forums multiple times a day, and I have a bluetooth keyboard for my phone, so I can even post when away from home. I also enjoy goblins because of their randomness and the many quirks Pathfinder has given the creatures. I also feel confident in nudging a goblin group along the intended through 'roleplay', though most likely not for the reasons expected, as I did this for my other 'all-goblin' games I've played. Kind of like how the Minions ended up as rulers of England while 'trying to find a boss'.

[spoiler=Question Time!]
- Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
I am Aipaca, a medical student located in Brisbane, Australia (GMT+10). An interesting fact about myself is that I moved around a hell of a lot as a kid, and I believe it taught me to play nice with others.
- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I think Pathfinder is damn great, and I believe I have a pretty good grasp of the rules, if not a hell of lot of practical experience. I do love 3PP, especially the aforementioned SoP/SoM, and would definitely jump at the chance of playing this subsystem. I value an even blend of roll/roleplay, and think that I can handle inter-party conflict pretty well by compromising and attempting to smooth things over.
- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
I am reasonably familiar with PbP, having joined a few games over the past couple of months, some of which haven't died! But seriously its a great way to play this game, especially around a busy schedule. I am happy with 1/weekday + 1/weekend posting frequency which seems to be a common aspiration around the boards. I would try to keep the game flowing by making additional posts if I felt that was required.
- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?
Just that I'd be keen to be a part of this!

About me:
Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?
Hi, I am Wilhelm Shield breaker, living in Oxfordshire, England so GMT(+/-0). I work as a Firefighter in London, which tends to mean I can post more at work, but can usually manage once a day on my days off.
How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?
I started playing 3rd ed and 3.5 at uni about 16 years ago, had a big hiatus and got back into rpgs via Pathfinder pbp about 3-4 years ago (with a 3pp class I seem to remember!). I am not particularly experienced with 3pp but keen to give it a go. I like a good mixture of both roll and role, I am not an essay writer most of the time, but try to drop in with little and often, however I do try to be fairly descriptive. Inter party conflict I try to play to my character, but with a view to resolving it, I like to play characters that aren't entirely inflexible and use that to help resolve the conflict.
How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?
I am fairly used to pbp now, although it has all been on this site, my favourite campaigns have generally been non pathfinder (Warhammer 40k RPGs), but I think that has more to do with character concepts than Pathfinder. I have learnt over time to put together a character that I want to play, not what fits the party's needs. I think I have mentioned posting frequency, but basically it is about 1 a day when off shift (4 in every 8 days) and more on shift. If things slow down I usually try to put in a really good in depth post that is aimed to move the story forward, if that doesn't start something off, I post in discussion or PM to see what is happening/ask after the other players.
Is there anything else you'd like me to know? I haven't ever played as a goblin before printing any neutral/ evil campaigns before, but am relishing the opportunity to try it out. Just branching into GMing myself with my first game on Wednesday.

@mdt:
Not necessarily. CE is a difficult alignment to play well, but when done properly, said PC can mesh with pretty much any party. Also, while the party will clearly lean toward the Chaotic side of the alignment axis, I'm fine with a diversity of alignments and will even allow a single 'redeemed' Goblin if said character is likeable enough. XD If you change your mind, feel free to re-dot the thread.

@TheNine:
Good to see you. Silence and Plays are both fun characters, so you'll definitely be a strong contender if you end up applying.

@littlehewy:
Howdy!

@Gobbo Horde:
That Twinned Summoner concept is pretty funny. XD

alexgndl:
Howdy!

Player Info Complete
@Codanous:
I'm more of a 1/day + 1/weekend poster, myself, so no worries there. I grew up in North Carolina; it's a rather pretty part of the US.

@DJ TPK:
We'll see how things go, but if I don't end up picking you, there's definitely enough interest here for two games.

@GM RelicBlackOUT:
I'm working on world creation, too! It's part of a large Pathfinder overhaul that I'm slowly going through in my spare time. If PF 2E isn't great, I'd like to have something lined up of my own. XD

@Dakcenturi:
VTT gaming is something I've always been interested in trying, but I haven't found anything that fits my style. MapTools and Roll20 have a somewhat steep learning curve, and I don't want to shell out the money for FantasyGrounds. What system do you use?

@Vitaliano da Riva:
I'm a lover of multiple systems as well; although not to the extent of you. I'm at least semi-familiar with Dungeon World, Mutants & Masterminds, Godbound, D&D 5E, WoD: Changeling, Traveler, and Innocents. I've found that knowledge about multiple gaming systems gives me more tools in my GM toolbox. Oh, and my wife was looking into getting a service dog for a while, but circumstances have changed enough that it may no longer be necessary. While I'm much more of a cat person, I've seen how much good a well-trained dog can do in a person's life.

@Raph:
Gaming helps me decompress as well. It's not therapeutic, per se, but it definitely helps keep me sane. I'm very familiar with Wheaton's Law. It's an excellent rule to live by.

@Ouachitonian:
Lefties unite! While I'm not familiar enough with the psionic rules to allow them in my games, I do like Dreamscarred Press. The Dread has such great flavor. I like Path of War as well, but it's been replaced by Spheres of Might now that it's out.

@TheWaskally:
I've found that the various Godling iterations are too easy to break, but Rogue Genius has a lot of other excellent material. The Time Thief, for instance, is a lot of fun.

@Deadly secret:
I enjoy characters who are a little off the beaten path. Fantasy gaming is full of Elven archers, Dwarven clerics, and Orcish barbarians. That's one of the reasons for this recruitment, in fact: to give people a chance to play something different.

@Doomed Hero:
Now I know that my thread's hit the bit-time. XD I might be just a little bit starstruck right now. XD In my book, you're up there with Ravingdork and TOZ when it comes to recognizability. The fact that you used to train big kitties is just an added bonus.

@Helikon:
My paternal grandparents were German and Yugoslavian, so I know a tiny bit of the language. Not nearly enough to be conversational, but I can count to ten! XD

@Kittenmancer:
I'm in the middle of running a solo CotCT campaign for my wife and can vouch for its awesomeness. I'm glad you were able to revive it. XD I'm glad that you're learning ASL; I might be a bit biased, but it's my favorite language outside of my native English. How are you learning it?

@Tilnar:
My paternal grandparents lived in Barrie, ON, and we took frequent trips up there. It's a great place outside of winter. I love gazing at snow from inside a warm house but have no desire to be in the middle of it.

@BlueFireDragon:
As mentioned in the interest check thread, I've GM'd an all-Goblin RotRL campaign until it died due to player attrition. It was wonderful fun while it lasted. Probably one of my favorite games ever.

@Aipaca:
G'day! I'd love to visit Australia some day. The sheer amount of unique wildlife species that live there is incredible.

@Wilhelm Shieldbreaker:
I spent 10 days in London on a study abroad back when I was in college. Wouldn't mind going back some day.

*phew* That's a lot of interest, and this recruitment's less than a day old. I've noticed a few common questions as I've read through everyone's application, so I thought I'd take a minute to address them.

Feat Taxes
I agree that there are too many feat taxes in Pathfinder and am familiar with the Elephant in the Room fix. I've actually been using a version of it in my games for a while now. Between that and Spheres of Might, I'm pretty sure most of the problems will be mitigated.

Recruitment Length
I don't have a set end date yet, but it'll be at least a few days. At a minimum, I want everyone from the interest check thread to have a chance to apply here. I'm not in any particular hurry at the moment, but at the same time, I don't intend for recruitment to drag on interminably. I'm currently anticipating it'll last for about a week but will adjust as we move along.

Inter-Party Conflict
I've liked what most of you have written about this and am of a very similar mindset. Conflict between characters is perfectly acceptable and is often an excellent way to make party relationships become more real. Conflict between players is a problem if not addressed quickly and (as some have correctly stated) is one of the quickest ways to kill a campaign.

As a GM, I allow character conflict up to and including PvP if all involved players are okay with it. My biggest thing is communication. The Discussion tab is there for a reason. I tend to be hands-off when it comes to character interactions, but if necessary, I won't hesitate to step in. In the past, when I've had player conflict, I've done lengthy PM conversations and even set up a shared Google Doc for involved parties to talk things out while I served as a mediator. I've also kicked players when it became clear that things weren't working out.

tl;dr - Character conflict good. Player conflict bad. GM step in when players can't resolve.

Character Creation
I'm saving that for Recruitment Phase Two. Since people have asked, though, I vastly prefer point-buy or stat arrays to rolled stats. I've been in too many games where one PC has ridiculously high (or low) stats, and that's a great way to suck out fun. I remember being in a game where one player rolled the equivalent of a 52pt-buy and someone else's highest stat was a 13. That's no good.

I'm still hashing out which specific method I'll be using, but it'll likely be something along the lines of the Elite NPC array, a 20pt-buy, or something similar. While I enjoy high-powered games where the PCs start out better than everyone else, this isn't one of those campaigns. You're goblins (and maybe one Kobold/Grippli/Mite).

Traits/drawbacks are a go, I'll be implementing some minor wild magic for spellcasters (but nothing gamebreaking), and I'll be limiting your starting gear somewhat. You're goblins, not normal adventurers, after all.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Too busy to apply, but it might be interesting if there was an oversized goblin in the group. Though they'd naturally be the leader, so maybe it wouldn't be a good idea if everyone wanted to be on equal footing.

Scarab Sages

VTTs:
We use Roll20 and Discord for voice. We've been using Roll20 for years, but the learning curve is actually a lot better now that Paizo has officially partnered with Roll20. They have even been releasing AP's (currently only War for the Crown, but assuming they will continue to add more). We have also done D20Pro in the past which is a good one, but since it is it's own application and not browser based it has it's own issues, ie having to worry about ports/firewalls, etc. In any case, since I don't have limited options for playing locally, VTTs are a great way to bridge that gap.

ASL:
I watch LifePrint videos and also have a couple of apps for fingerspelling practice and word practice. There's nobody here to practice with, since the Netherlands has their own sign language, but I picked ASL because I've recently become the accessibility advocate at my game studio, so I would like to be able to communicate with deaf and HoH gamers, and the ones I know of use ASL.

Introducing Myself:
My real name is Allan. I am located in Perth, Western Australia which is GMT +8, so time-zone wise I am out of step with people in the USA. We are asked for an interesting fact about myself. Where to start, so much about me is interesting. I was educated in Law and Arts with an English major. I am very widely travelled, having been to a lot of Europe, Asia and Australia, and some of Africa and the Middle East. I have never got the North or South America, sadly, at least not yet. I have played chess and Magic the Gathering competitively a lot and am a longstanding martial arts student.

I have been roleplaying since 1979, beginning with Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and have been roleplaying and GMing on and off since and have tried about a million different RPGs. I would describe myself as having mid-level Pathfinder experience. I have played it for about 5 years, but have always played other RPGs as well, and run one Pathfinder campaign. I know the system but am not at all like those veteran Pathfinder players who know the rules by heart. I don't have a strong view on 3pp. I have made almost no use of 3pp myself as there are at least enough Paizo rules for me.

I think roleplaying, thinking and planning is the heart of a RPG. Combat and rules systems certainly have their place and the life or death nature of combat can add excitement. But I am bored by and won't play in campaigns that just revolve around killing things and taking their treasure. I think that PbP is better suited to story and roleplaying style campaigns. Combats take so long to resolve that you don't want too many of them.

Inter-party conflict is something I have fairly strong views about. Serious inter-party conflict, where PCs are trying to kill each other, usually results in the campaign ending or some players leaving it. Lesser conflicts, where PCs have different agendas can be OK or it can degenerate into serious conflict. RPGs work best when the players are a team and I tend to be a team player.

I have one eccentricity as a roleplayer in that I am a male who tends to play female characters. Often when males play female characters they are jokes of some kind or act like women in porn movies. My characters are not like that at all and I try to develop characters with some depth.

I have played in eight PbP campaigns over the last two years, all Pathfinder, but have minimal PbP GM experience. I prefer PbP campaigns which are relatively fast moving and players generally post once a day or more. This is what I normally do myself, I typically check my campaigns two or more times a day. However, I do have a life and can't get online every day.

"What do I do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?" Previously, I have either just waited or tried to move things along myself. I am not that experienced in PbP and there is probably a better response. Things slowing down or, worse, falling silent usually means the campaign is about to die.

I read what the GM wrote about Goblins spreading chaos and burning lots of things. The character I would play would probably not be a typical Goblin. My characters tend to be spell casters and they would have plans and an agenda. However, their plans are probably not as brilliant as my character would like to think and I may end up burning things and exterminating dogs like the rest of the Goblin race.

@Dakcenturi:
Interesting. I may have to give it another whirl, then. I've been messing around with EpicTable, but it's not perfect.

@Kittenmancer:
Good choice. XD ASL's the third-most used language in the US, so it's definitely helpful to know. I'd suggest at least looking into Netherlands Sign Language, as there's nothing better than practicing with a native signer. For ASL resources, I'd also recommend SigningSavvy and the ASL THAT Youtube channel.

@Joynt Jezebel:
It's nice to see a fellow chess player on the boards. XD I haven't played competitively since high school, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. My wife's a martial artist, by the way: Brown Belt in Tang Soo Do. Likewise, my Father-in-Law recently earned his Third Dan.

Alright, here we go:

About me:
So I’m Alex, I’m from Western New York (so Eastern time zone). I actually work in the public school system up here as a teacher aide, so I’m in the same boat as you-I have a little more free time for the next few months and want to get some Pathfindering done during the summer, and throughout the rest of the year, too.

I’m fairly good with Pathfinder, I’ve been playing for almost 6 years now. 3rd party I’m not super good with, I’ve got a decent amount of experience with DSP’s psionics (but then again, who doesn’t?) but that’s really about it. I’m a pretty quick learner though, so I can probably figure out Spheres easily enough once I actually sit down and read it. I enjoy roleplaying, although the nature of PbP forums sometimes makes that a little difficult-there’ve definitely been times in the past where I would write a longish post, only to hit ‘preview’ and see that someone else posted and kind of undercut what I was about to say. But that isn’t to say that it can’t be done, some of my favorite roleplaying moments have been on the forums here. I love rolling dice, I love making a character who’s fun to play and play with. I think my opinion on interparty conflict kind of matches up with everyone else’s here-as long as the people playing the characters are cool and it doesn’t lead to the game going off of a cliff, go for it.

I’ve got a decent amount of experience doing PbP, and I try to keep up with my campaigns as much as possible, which can sometimes be a little rough when life gets in the way. I really try and aim for at least a post a day, either in gameplay or discussion, even though I’ll admit that sometimes I fall behind if I’m using solely my phone for a few days and it doesn’t show that my campaigns updated. It’s something that I’m really trying to work on, though. I’m currently in two campaigns, a Strange Aeons one and a more freeform one about setting up a trading post on the Sellen River. They’re fantastic, but I gotta say-I’ve been itching to play another Goblin campaign. There’s something about all-Goblin campaigns that turn the shenanigans up to 11. I love those little pyromaniacs. If a game is slowing down, I generally try to just make sure that people know that I haven’t abandoned the game in the Discussion section-I know I hate when I see the notification that there’s a new gameplay post, only to see that it’s Bobby posting again and not the GM (or whoever was supposed to be up in initiative...that happens a lot in my games, it seems).

I think that’s really it, I’m honestly pretty flexible with what I build. I gravitate towards Alchemists (my all-time favorite character was a Monkey Goblin Alchemist (Vivisectionist/Beastmorph/Dimensional Excavator) who would rip people apart with his bare hands. He was fun.) but I think this time I’d probably play a more traditional spellcaster if I had the choice-maybe a Witch, or whatever the equivalent in Spheres is. I’m cool with filling pretty much any party role though. Thanks a lot! Any other questions, just let me know.

YBD:

Yea, service dogs are amazing but I do recommend to anyone who isn't up to being stopped doing just simple chores or who have social anxiety to not use a service dog. I wouldn't trade my pup for the world, because she truly has helped immensely to deal with my leg issues as well as some of my mental issues.

But I will admit that public drives me insane some days. I'm asked at least five times an outing, if they can pet her and most continue on to ask a lot of personal questions like why I have her and such. And if it's a reasonable day I can handle the invasion of my privacy...if I'm have a normal or bad day though, I'm typically rather rudely and curtly telling them to leave me alone ^_^.

It's an unfortunate thing but you really should have no issues with confrontations if you have a SD. Which is sad because so many people use them for anxiety and people ignore all the signs you may have on your dog or you and still bug you.

If you or your wife ever have questions I am happy to talk (I'm good when it comes to texting and such). Me and my wife both are a part of service dog groups and even a Veteran's organization that gets veterans service dogs.

@Vitaliano da Riva - that's terrible of people. I've seen people try to pet SDs for sightless people and it just makes me go nnngggh. Don't do that.

Who are you? Where are you located (aka your time zone)? What's an interesting fact about yourself?

I work as an engineer for a big company and travel a fair bit. I live in the central time zone, but could be expected to post from several others in the course of a year. Flew >100k miles in 2017.

How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?

I've played pathfinder since the first playtest. My first rpg experience started with the player's handbook back in 1980.

I think the balance between roleplay / rollplay depends on the group. Everyone should get what they're looking for out of the game.

You have to be careful with inter-party conflict in pbp because it's harder to talk things out via email or message board post.

Try to avoid playing with anyone who derives fun out of ruining someone else's experience.

How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?

I've got >5000 pbp posts on these forums. I'm fond of a Rappan Athuk game here on these boards where I also happen to play a goblin. I like games where the target is 1 post per day.

In pbp I often times try to build characters that can help drive the pace if things stall. I have many characters with trapfinding and a high perception so I don't have to wait on someone else to check the door for traps.

Is there anything else you'd like me to know?

I've never played Kingmaker, but I'm a fan of goblins.

Scarab Sages

Coincider this a dot. Real post to come.

Hello everyone, Choon *nods*

I am the Nines, prior service veteren of the U.S. of A and an oddity... A decently humble Ranger.I got my first taste of D&D pen and paper and dice style back in the army in 98. But had played the old school gold box 2nd edition d&d games on my computer at home. Goodness those graphics were terrible (still love those games!) I live in the midwest now, work for a hotel chain enjoying the retired for medical reasons life. I Do have a long time beautiful ladyfriend who is on the tail end of kicking cancer's ass (knock on wood fingers crossed and all that jazz).
AS for an interesting fact about myself i used to be almost 5'11" Im like 5'9" now... who knew that jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and having a catastrophic parachute deployment could be hazardous to your health? >^.^<

- How experienced are you with Pathfinder? How about 3pp? What's your ideal roleplay/rollplay balance? How do you handle inter-party conflict?

I remember when i read that Paizo was no longer going to be doing the dungeon, and dragon magazines and was pretty upset by it. I loved those magazines. Then I heard they were going to be doing their own game and I was standing there waiting for their product to come out. I didnt get involved in the pbp options for this lovely game until three... four years ago? when my long time gaming group had to split up and i was going through withdrawels. I've looked at some 3pp products, but i have not done much with them, most games ive been involved with have made them a no no so theres never been a lot of need. I have no problem with them however none at all. My perfect mix of role/roll play is probably about 70/30. If all i wanted was a tactical dice rolling battle... well i have a hot pink/lavender Eldear 40k army to wheel out. Inter-party conflict is best worked out outside the game, mediated by a third party. It can be a horrid thing if it festers too long, but a voice of reason between the two(or more) parties is a boon.

- How familiar are you with the PbP format? If so, is there a particular campaign you're particularly proud of? What's your preferred posting frequency? What do you do if things appear to be slowing down or fall silent?

I would like to think at this point im pretty familiar with PbP. Running a game or two of my own now, involved in half a dozen or so more. There is this awesome reign of winter one ive been involved with for oh a few years or so, but outside of that one to be honest most of the games im in now i think have a unique charm about them to be proud of.. even the ones that have ended in dead games. Though My level 7 Aristocrat(yes the actual npc class) who has soaked close to 430 hp as the parties main tank with no armor has been probably the most fun so far (outside of certain Felinerai's).

I can post one time a day easily now, and can manage even up to perhaps 2 to 3 posts a day. There will be weekends im away doing something with said ladyfriend now thats she on the mend but for the most part keeping up would be easy enough to do.

As for Things running silent ive always been a fan of sending an in game poke (in game and discussion) along with a simple message to the parties that seem to be the hold up. If that doesnt work (and its gone GM dark) I have found searcing for a new dm is a thing that could work, or if i had the module) Ive once stepped aside and ran it a bit til i couldnt no more.

- Is there anything else you'd like me to know?

You are one of my favorite DM's on the boards so far. No Im not seeking brownie points just letting you know man, you are one of the good ones!

Also someone had mentioned earlier about point buy versus rolling and I dont mind either method. I developed my own little system of Dice rolling to keep things more balanced. SAMPLE Its explained in the top post here.

@alexgndl:
I know the pain of phone posting - especially now that the Wayfinder app's gone. *grumble* Paizo website update ruining everything *grumble*

@Vitaliano da Riva:
I'll definitely keep that in mind if my wife starts thinking about going down that road again. She's fine for now, but you never know what life will throw at you.

@joshB:
That's a lot of traveling! The most I've done for work was around 30k in a year, but I've since moved so I don't have to do that anymore. 15min commutes are wonderful. XD

@Choon:
Sounds like a plan. XD

@TheNine:
Thanks for the kind words. XD

Spoiler:
Right? There was a period last summer where my phone couldn't even load the Paizo site. That was a pretty bad time. It's still slow as heck now...

We currently have 20 people who've completed Phase One, so methinks it's time to move on.

Phase Two
Now that I know a bit about you, I'd like to hear a bit about your proposed character. We're keeping the crunchy bits to a minimum right now, as that's honestly the least important part of your submission.
- Name
- Alignment (all allowed, but Chaotic is preferred)
- Role/s (melee damage, ranged damage, magic support, healer, trapmonkey, skills, face, etc)
- Picture (for map use - and so I know what you look like)
- Personality (including a specific Drawback and/or weird quirk)
- Virtue/Vice (what's your best quality, and what typically trips you up)
- Theme Song (Goblin song preferred, but I'll accept any type of music)

If you have a class in mind, feel free to let me know during this time. Normally I give a rather lengthy list of approved classes, but I'm being a lot more flexible for this campaign due to its inherently crazy nature.

If you're not submitting a Goblin, you get an additional assignment: how'd you end up in a Goblin tribe?

For 3pp people, here are some classes that could be good thematic fits:
This is by no means an all-inclusive list, so if you don't see one of your favorites, feel free to run it past me. I'm vetoing Godlings for power reasons but am otherwise pretty flexible. Just make sure it's a good fit thematically. While Strange Magic's Ethermancer is really cool, for instance, the built-in cosmic flavor doesn't really mesh well with Goblins.

Champions of the Spheres – Prodigy, Troubadour
Interjection Games – Assassin, Breakdancer, Herbalist, Primordial Dancer, Scion of Discordia
Legendary Games – Legendary Rogue
Rite Publishing – Luckbringer, Masquerade Reveler
Spheres of Might – Armiger, Conscript, Striker
Spheres of Power – Elementalist, Fey Adept, Hedgewitch, Incanter, Shifter, Soul Weaver, Thaumaturge

Ooh, a fellow fan of Interjection, I was actually thinking herbalist, and somehow I missed breakdancer.

Herbalist does seem awesome, I'm reading the rules for it right now and the Mycologist seems like it's absolutely perfect for a goblin. I might want to do that, not sure if I'd want to mix it with geologist or anything.

- Name
Penni Purple Toes

- Alignment (all allowed, but Chaotic is preferred)
CN

- Role/s (melee damage, ranged damage, magic support, healer, trapmonkey, skills, face, etc)
melee brawler unarmed

- Picture (for map use - and so I know what you look like)
Penni Purple Toes
Picture doesn't show her toes, but they are indeed there :)

- Personality (including a specific Drawback and/or weird quirk)
Trying to live a childhood she was never allowed to have. Since she grew up in a cage. Perhaps she met a human child and was jealous of it all.

- Virtue/Vice (what's your best quality, and what typically trips you up)
She doesn't hate everything, but is rather optimistic. Some things you shouldn't destroy... she is a try everything at least once kinda gal. Then destroy it if it sucks.

- Theme Song (Goblin song preferred, but I'll accept any type of music)
Perhaps with more time I can think on that if selected. I would need more time with the entire build/personality to make a decent one.

Name- Radisok (pronounced "ratty sock")
Align- CN
Role- skill monkey, trapmonkey (I'm thinking investigator)
pic- can just use the one for Raph
Personality- (w/drawback/quirks) -Radisock is constantly fiddling with things, constantly "upgrading" or "improving" items, even ones that don't need it, and sometimes what he refers to as an upgrade is decidedly NOT. He's not so much a leader, preferring to be an indispensable flunky (the "Scotty" role, if you will): no one can get by without him, but he doesn't get blamed as much for bad decisions. It's his niche. And he will grumble whenever he has to work. Like most goblins, he's a fan of destruction. His favorite is sabotage, but fire is a close second.
Virtue/Vice- Intelligence/Curiosity (he's smart, creative, and inventive, but if there's a button to press, or a lever to pull, he will press/pull it)
Theme Song- theme-song from MacGuyver, with an occasional "Yakkety Sax"
