So I just got a new laptop, and I can't believe how *big* everything is. Going from a 12" to a 16" screen makes text look huge. Is this what I've been missing out on all this time?
Hi all. I'm on an antidepressant now, and it's working wonders for my ability to function at work. Unfortunately, that means I'm teaching typing a lot more actively, which means my games have suffered at work. That's been my usual posting time, so I've gotten behind.
I'm glad that the medication seems to be working, but I'm going to have to rethink when I game.
I’ve been running this game for three years and two months, and it’s been a fun ride, but it’s time for me to admit that my heart isn’t in GMing right now. I’ve been pretty open about the things going on in my life, so you know my brother died in August. That’s thrown me into a pretty mean spiral downwards, which I’m starting to climb out of. However, it’s a long road up, and I’m very unfocused right now.
What focus I have needs to be on getting myself back on the career path I’ve wanted for myself since I was 12. I’ve also reconnected with a few old friends, and I’m spending more time with them.
If you guys decided to find a new GM, I’d love to share my notes with him or her to make any transition as smooth as possible, but I also understand if this game’s not a priority for other people. Either way, it’s been a great run. Most games on the forums don’t last even half this long, and it’s been fun to play with you all.
I’ll leave this game active for a while, and will close it down in a week or so.
Thanks for sticking with me through everything.
I'm sad to see this game end, but in a way, it's been a long time coming. Circumstances changed, and with then, the dynamics, and it just sort of stopped being the same game. For my part, I'm sorry for taking so long to realize it.
I'm very glad to hear you're reconnecting with old friends, and that your medication is helping your stability and focus. I hope everything goes well for you.
If any of you ever want to talk, hit me up. I'm not terribly interesting right now, but I've greatly enjoyed all of your company on this journey.
It's been fun. Take care of yourselves.

Hey, I happened to see this thread while scanning the forums and popped in to catch up. While I'm sorry to see the game end - because it was fun during the short time I was part of it - I'm glad that it sounds like you're starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing with refocusing and spending time with your friends. I hope all goes well for you and everyone else and maybe I'll see you around on the forums again one day.
Real life has been a mess for me recently, more health issues with my grandma, so I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to respond.
Aest, I have loved being part of this game for the past 3(!) years, and I’m so grateful to you for giving me a story that’s been such a wonderful part of my life for years now. More than that you’ve been an awesome person to know, and I fully support you setting the game aside to focus on yourself, it’s the absolute best thing to do. I’m so happy to hear that you’re pulling yourself up out of the hole, and I have no doubt you’ll get all the way out of the pit.
There’s been a lot of awesome people in this campaign, I love you guys and I hope you’ve all got awesome stuff headed your way. Luthor, I know you’ve had your own struggles, just know you can always shoot me a message. Ronza and Ladile, you guys are awesome people who brought awesome characters to life and I loved playing with you. Sam, I’m sad we only got a short time but your writing was excellent. I don’t know if Daen or Cyanne check this thread, but I loved you both and I hope you’re doing well.
Personally I don’t think the campaign would be the same without Aest so I’m not looking to get us a replacement DM. However I am SUPER interested in seeing your notes and learning what you had in store for Lali and the rest of the gang :)
And of course, if any of you have openings in other games or want to start one, hit me up, my inbox is always open ;)
@Lali (and anyone else who's curious): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uN4P7FGhC1JYGVYmPy1_gbfg4rVsTRgZ-ns4wub gv3E/edit were sort of a working document that changed as we moved through the campaign. What's there right now is stuff about Narthropple, as well as a few ideas for later on in the book.
