Have we decided on which AP run these characters into?
My vote would be:
1) Rise of the Runelords
2) Curse of the Crimson Throne
3) Don't remember the 3rd proposed...

1. The third option was for Age of Ashes, which was the first AP made for PF2E, I believe. I don't know much about it, and that appeals to me. What also appeals to me is that it is one of the more recent APs, made after Paizo has a lot of lessons-learned under their belt for creating an AP. Plus, there's less conversion for DMDE to worry about.
2. Curse of the Crimson Throne is also a classic, and I've heard it's fantastic, so I could be tempted.
3. Putting my cards on the table here, but my hot take is that traditional APs are not a great fit for PbPs. Rarely does one get finished before fizzling out, and when it does, it's because of a massive time investment. I love that Paizo has started releasing three and four book APs, and I would very much be interested in exploring one of those.
4.Rise of the Runelords is a classic, but I've already played through it (with a massive time investment :) ), so I'm not really interested in going through it again.
All of this is dependent on what DMDE is interested in running, of course.

Actually, this is a good point. Taking modules, or singular books out of an AP would actually work better, in my opinion. For my own running style, I like to take the inspiration from works and then do my own story for it, but I understand that isn't what works for everyone.
It would likely be up to the GM that takes that mantle. That being said, I would be up for anything. I just like Sandpoint as a home base, but really, any settlement that is on the coast works for Kepa...

Ho'okepa wrote:The only real option for Kepa is Nahoa... Wonder when they will upload him...You could look under the "Item" Type in the icon filter to see if any of those are appropriate.
I will take a look, thanks!

Qwerk and Krrystall after you're done finishing up your background stage, time to make class choices!
Class: Monk
HP: 6 (Tripkee) + 10 (Monk) = 16Class Attribute Boost: DEX
Proficiencies (some are choices): Athletics, Deception, Diplomacy, Performance (4 Monk), and Stealth (+1 INT)
Level 1 Class features (Might include a class feat choice or 'subclass' type choices): Flurry of Blows, Powerful Fist, and Monastic Archer Stance (Feat)

Qwerk |

I'll try and do Krrystall and Neppka tomorrow. Qwerk are you good for making your sorcerer choices?
Sorry, the gap plus RL combined to get me a wee bit confused. I said he'd be sorcerer but I didn't specify which bloodline he'd go with so sorry about that.
Draconic, and just to get into the remastered bit, why not Fortune Examplar? His scales may get gold and other sparkly highlights when he uses his spells. That would make him Arcane.Charisma boost for being a sorcerer but I am assuming the free picks are after the next RP , correct me if I'm wrong.
Cantrip Spells he'll get shield for his bloodline examplar selection, want Detect Magic and then want either ignition, electric arc or frostbite (Happy to let you pick). Prestidigitation is always useful for utility and keeping scales clean
First level spells, Fear is granted by Bloodline/Examplar . Leaving two choices more: Force Barrage (The new magic Missile) and Gentle Landing (Feather Fall). The last a reference to his original fall.
Am I missing anything else? If not , yes definitely ready

Neppka |

Neppka: You're onto your class! Let me know if you have any questions.
...
We're nearly at the end. Hope everyone's been enjoying this!
Yes, I've been enjoying this! Thanks again for walking us through it!
Question: If I've already gained Trained proficiency in Intimidation from my Background or Ancestry, and I want to choose Intimidation as one of my Class proficiencies that offers Trained, can I bump Intimidation up to Expert, or do I need to pick something else?

Neppka |

Class: Fighter
HP: 10 + Constitution
Class attribute boost (might be a choice): Strength
Proficiencies (some are choices):
- Expert in Perception
- Expert in Fortitude and Reflex, Trained in Will
- Trained in Acrobatics, Athletics, Intimidation, Lore (Gaming), and Society
- Expert in Attacks with Simple weapons, Martial weapons, and Unarmed Attacks; Trained in Attacks with Advanced Weapons
- Trained in all Armor and Unarmed Defense
- Trained in fighter class DC
Level 1 Class features (Might include a class feat choice or 'subclass' type choices):
- Four free attribute boosts: Constitution, Dexterity, Wisdom, and Charisma
-- @GM Stargin: I took Strength as my Key attribute boost. Because of that, I can't use one of these free boosts for Strength, correct?
- Reactive Strike
- Feats: Shield Block, Snagging Strike
Spellcasting details (for spellcasting classes and will include a choice of spells): n/a

Ho'okepa |

Nope, you can still choose Strength for one of the free raises. You just cannot use two free raises on the same ability score. Unless, I am mistaken...

GM Stargin |

The four free attribute boosts will allow you to boost Strength as it's a different step from the Class and it's Key attribute step of character creation.
PF2e allows you to have +4 in one stat by allowing you to boost in each of the four steps where you can boost
Ancestry
Background
Class
Details (Details is where the four free boosts are and one we haven't done yet as you're not level 1 yet)

Krrys'tall |

Oops, I just realized that I switched from 1st to 3rd person partway through my last post. I'm used to posting in a PbP in 3rd person, but all of GM Stargin's direct questions prompted a 1st person response.
I have been using 3rd person also. I was probably going to switch once we were past the kind of prequel phase. Just felt natural.

And that's it for everyone in terms of playing with the abilities that your characters have been acquiring as they journey from childhood to being adventurers!
I think a few of you have already done this but at this point there's no more new abilities that your character will get at Level 1. But there are a few more things that you'll get to get to level 1.
Final Four Attribute Boosts: This is where you can get your primary stat to +4 if you choose but that's not necessary to have a fun character. Remember you can't boost any stat more than once per stage.
Equipment: All the equipment that you've been playing with over the course of your earlier years don't count. Now you have a flat 15 gold to buy the actual equipment you'll use to adventure in the world.
Level 1: For those of you playing along with only adding a +2 or +4 to your proficiency from being trained or expert... well now you finally get to turn that to a +3 or a +5! Every level you gain from here will also keep adding to your proficiency so you should see a noticeable increase in power every time you get to a new level.
Here's a handy checklist of things to look over to see if everything is finalized after you buy your equipment and update your proficiency numbers and final boosts!
Perception:
Saving Throws:
Armor Class:
Strikes:
Skills:
Class DC:
Spell Attacks, Spell DC, and spells for Spellcasters!
And then you'll be done!

Ho'okepa |

Okay, I think Ho'okepa is completely done! I bought a fishing tackle, a handheld instrument (that he isn't great at, but will be fun to RP anyway, until he gets Performance proficiency later...), and a stone adze (small tool).
Apparently, somewhere I missed an extra skill, so I took Crafting... (According to Pathbuilder, anyway.)

Qwerk |

Thank you, GM Stargrin
Let's see.. for the last stages...
Final Four Attribute Boosts:
These get put on Charisma (To get that +4), Constitution (To get to +0), Dexterity (+3), and Intelligence (+1)
For skills, 3 points thanks to int boost.. trained in Thievery +6 total, Diplomacy +7 and Athletics +3
(Later as he levels I'll probably get Deception and Medicine)
AC seems to be 16 before spells. HP 16/16, and Fortitude +3, Reflex +6, Will +6
And i need to buy him gear

Yeah I hope it was a good learning tool and/or fun to explore your character's backstories!
Final Rolecall
Ho'okepa: A Champion of a shark/nature deity following in the footsteps of his elder sister who has disappeared on a quest
Boudoon: A sensitive soul with a desire for adventure and psychic powers that he's not the best at.
Magnus: A studious gnome wizard who has specialized in the staff and has a familiar.
Krryst'all: A lazy frog who is very talented at walking the wilds, dancing, and being a Monk who is a savant with the bow.
Qwerk: A surprisingly sturdy kobold with a loving family and a nose for grave robbing/tomb raiding and draconic sorcerous powers!
Neppka: A tengu blessed with storm powers and who has trained with weapons for as long as he can remember

GM Stargin |

I think DM DoctorEvil (Magnus) had a plan for that?
Either way I wish I could do something but I really should be focusing on trying to get people to buy my novel this September lol. I really had fun here though, and if you want to check out OriginPath on Itch where I have the full writeup of how to run this kind of pf2e character creation that would be cool also.
And feedback on how to improve this method of doing character creation would be appreciated also!

I am happy to run something, for these characters, or others, if you wish. I just picked up an orphaned RotRL game, so don't have to run that, though could if you wish.
If there are any requests, I am happy to listen. If you want to move on, no hard feelings!
Super big thanks to GM Stargin for the time and lessons, I do think much more of Magnus now that I spent some time with the components of his build, rather than just a stat block. I will likely use him for my next PFS character when the time comes.
Stargin, you are more than welcome to join us for whatever we do next, if you have the time and inclination.

Ho'okepa |

How do you feel about any of the standalone adventures? Are any set in Sandpoint or nearby? Or maybe one book of an AP? If you had a favorite 1st book in an AP, what would it be?

Krrys'tall |

A little short adventure in Sandpoint would be cool.
Krrys'tall's final touches:
Strength: -1
Dexterity: +4
Constitution: +0
Intelligence: +1
Wisdom: +2
Charisma: +3
Equipment: Adventurer's Pack, Air Bladder, Clothing (Explorer's), Compass, Climbing Kit, Disguise Kit, Flower Press, Gakgung, Oilskin Pouch, 2 Gold Pieces, and 3 Silver Pieces
Perception: +5
Fortitude: +5
Reflex: +9
Will: +7
Armor Class: 19
Strikes: Unarmed Strike +7, 1d6-1; Gakgung +7, 1d6-1, range 100ft
Trained Skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Deception, Diplomacy, Lore: Music, Performance, and Stealth
Class DC: 17

I'd be interested in Seven Dooms for Sandpoint, but, you'd have to run us in something to get us up to fourth level first.
Here's a list of PFS scenarios that would bring a PFS character up to fourth level:
1-01
3-01
4-01
5-01
1-10
1-06
1-14
5-12
1-23
These are part of a greater list I have that are repeatable scenarios to bring new PFS characters up to seventh level.
Or, you could choose one of the newer APs like Shades of Blood.

I would play any of the things we talked about above. I made my clear preferences for something not too lengthy, but I don't dislike any of the ideas.
But probably not Kingmaker, sorry Qwerk. I'm currently in two different KM games.
I envisioned Neppka in an urban environment of some sort if that influences the decision.

My novel is about a young woman growing up in and having to defend a Muslim Matriarchal society. It's a speculative history novel and coming out this fall. If anyone is interested in learning more than just DM me!
If it's a short game then I wouldn't mind joining in as a support character who doesn't RP much just because I want to preserve my bandwidth! Bard maybe?

Ho'okepa |

Sounds neat! I have a fondness for historical fantasy / fiction, and all of my homebrew settings are historical analogues... ^_^

I think that is why I think a single book of an AP would work well. Even single chapters, or as suggested, PFS modules would work as well. Anyway, Doc, let us know what you feel like running based on our input!

Qwerk |

I'll leave the final choice up to DM Doc. I only ask for opportunities to have access to the ocean once in a while for Kepa... ^_^
Let's see, Sandpoint has an Ocean side option, as does Korvosa so either RoRL or Curse of the Crimson throne seem possibly fitting. Something on the Island of Absalom would also fit
