Hey well, I was happy to play along for the short time I was here, and it's good to hear that you're doing well in the real world.

Best of luck to all with whatever the future may bring.

I'll give it a roll, sounds worth a go :)

Yeah and my character has never met him before if nothing else.

Cybered up spy concept still good for me.

I'm afraid I don't really have the time to pick up a non-PbP game at the moment. I have three regular games already (yeah, I game too much).

So that's a no from me on VOIP, sorry.

Looks good to me, I'll get a start on my character. Unfortunately I'm coming up to the end of the university year, so I'll be pretty busy with that for a while, but I'll put work in on my character in my spare time and keep you posted, shouldn't take too long.

Looks good to me, I like the different 'civilizations', my cybered-up spy will probably be from the Rim.

Yeah either or sounds fine. 250 is probably plenty.

Yeah, I guess I meant 3a, or 3b. I don't mind whether there is eldritch horrors to run from. I'm happy to go without Psi, I think Rai is right in that it makes things simpler. I'd like tech to be pretty advanced, I like the idea of Cyber-ware and Bio-ware, though I'm fine skipping lasers and stuff. So maybe more Cyberpunk style tech? I also vote for at least somewhat exceptional characters, not anything insane (point-buy 1000 or something crazy like that) but being a bad-ass would be pretty cool.

Well 1 or 3 gets my vote, probably a slight lean toward 3. Nothing that can't be improved by possible Eldritch Frying.

I didn't actually finalize a suggestion, just confirmed that I could.

Aliens looks good to me. Can I have Contacts/Contact Groups among these aliens or would you rather I didn't?

Also, document is working fine for me, I can both see and comment.

I'm working on a Human. Looking at a concept of an espionage type character. Taking infiltration and counter-intelligence jobs from the military, corporations, whoever. Talents would include computers, planning, a large network of contacts, and high versatility. Rogue-ish from a DnD perspective.

Should be pretty kitted out with cyber-ware and bio-tech, but will have a focus on easily disguised mods. Should be decent in combat but is definitely not an Assassin and would dislike being called one, might even take the Reluctant Killer disadvantage.

Advantage wise I'll probably have High IQ and DX, Combat Reflexes of course, the Rubber Skin emulating Cyberware, some of the enhanced reflexes upgrades, a good amount of social advantages, especially contacts. Probably an Alternate Identity as my 'working' persona. Don't know about disadvantages beyond Reluctant Killer, still thinking about that.

That a good run-down? Need any other info just let me know.

Yeah I've allowed Gunslinger in a few games I've run and it makes it pretty cheap to gun effective gun skills above 25 at high TLs.

Sounds good to me, I've been really busy the past week but now I can get working on a character. Do be careful with Gunslinger though, it tends to make missing impossible.

I'm happy for Gritty or Silly. If you do end up with something like GotG though, be aware that I'm going to make a damn silly character to fit in.

Yeah I have the books in PDF form and I can email them to others if they need a copy.

I'm happy to work with you on a background, I'm pretty busy for the next few days due to a convention. After that though I'll put together a tentative background and get it through to you.

I'm pretty fine with just the equipment lists in the books, though would welcome more if you end up designing more. It would be nice if those books were around.

So we'll be using the stock Cybernetics and Biotech from the books?

And I assume that it'll be mundane advantages only outside of tech?

After that is answered I'll be ready to get started building my character. Definitely thinking a stealthy infiltration type with a decent amount of social stuff as well. Combat won't be my primary focus but I'll make sure I can stand up in a fight.

I think that's legitimate. GURPS tends to value pricing thing realistically over pricing them at a level that would be fun in a game. So reducing all the costs would be a smart move I think.

Woah! That's a mighty point buy. Not that I'm complaining about it.

I'm pretty interested in a playing an espionage style character, so I can fill that role.

Mercator gets my vote. I like psionics and all but I've played my fair share of starwars RPGs, something different sounds good.

How like starwars is the setting?

Yeah having Injury Tolerance(Homogeneous) is a little strange, you could always just go for (No Blood)&(Unliving) if you want to be able to target a car's 'vitals'.

The psi-wars setting certainly sounds interesting, I've never heard of it before myself. Would you be taking inspiration from the setting or using it verbatim?

Hey Salsa, El Ronza's partner here. I have indeed both played and run a heap of GURPS 4th and this game sounds really interesting. I know my way around vehicle building, it's pretty easy in 4th, if nothing else you can just build a car the way you want it and then apply the Compartmentalized mind advantage with the Controls modification, then boom, it's a car.

Also of interest might be this:

http://edgerunners.obsidianportal.com/wikis/vehicles

It's a wiki for a Cyberpunk game and the rules in it are top notch. Bare in mind they are for TL9, so you might want to just use them as inspiration. I've linked to the page with all the vehicles on it.

In regards to a character for this game, not sure. I like the idea of psionics, but it's up to you if you want to include that in your setting. Beyond that I'd probably be interested in some sort of Hacker/Spy/Counterintelligence kind of thing.

In any case, very interested in the game and always keen to play GURPS.

Well I'll go ahead and put that character together then if it's all good. Herald caller of Abadar and practitioner of law.

I'll run it by Aest before posting an alias here, but should hopefully have it together in the next few days.

Sam Cameron-Mckee - Welcome! I think our number one rule is to play a character you'll enjoy. If you're thinking about what would mesh well with our current makeup I personal vote for something with arcane magic. If you like summoning stuff I've played an Unchained Summoner before and LOVED it.

Herald caller is appealing to me, and with no full divine I think having someone to cast restoration and the like would be a safe choice. Of course if the party thinks that Arcane would bring more to the table, I'm open to looking at that.

In regards to said herald caller character though I have an idea of making an Abadar worshiper with pretty good legal knowledge if that is going to to help your decision in regards to the stag lord / give Aest a good in for my character.

Hey all, I'm the new player Aest has selected. Looking forward to playing with you all. So Aest gave me a run down of the game and setting, I've not played or read kingmaker so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

So I'm thinking a Herald Caller Cleric. That way I can fill the role of a primary healer and also have some versatile ways to deal damage and help the party. What are everyone's thoughts on this? As I'm aware that summoning builds can be disruptive if not done right.

In any case, looking forward to playing.

Background:

Naehra was born to two wise and powerful desert druid in a hidden sanctuary among the dunes. From a young age she was raised as a healer and caretaker, her parents believed that druidic magic was for the benefit of other people, that it should be used only for peaceful and kind applications. However as Naehra grew up she grew to disagree with this point of view.
She was always entranced with the heat of the desert, unlike her parents, she viewed the sun as more than a giver of life, and her magic as more than simply a tool to help others. She was fascinated by the effects the sun could have on plants and animals, both positive and negative. She sought to recreate these effects with her magic, attaining a mastery over fire that outstripped ever her parents. Finally she turned from her parent’s desert faith to the destructive half of the god Nethys in search of greater magical mastery. However when her parents found out about her departure from what they perceived as druidic ways, they cast her out from their society.
She came to desertsands, hoping that civilization would hold more magical knowledge to learn. Once there she established herself as a town healer. She didn’t like the work, feeling that healing was a waste of her magical potential, but it payed, and was needed. Besides, not only had her upbringing given her a talent for it, she still held some small part of her parents world view.
In desertsands she met Khazima al-Nadra a magic user like herself but almost diametrically opposed. Where she was destruction and fire, Khazima was creation. Naehra saw far too much of her parents in Khazima and sought where possible to outdo her, with their relationship developing into a burning hot rivalry. Naehra would never sink to attacking Khazima, but she does seek to outdo her magically in every way possible, and will often go out of her way to do so.
As the situation in desertsands grew worse she was happy to take up the call to help. As a chance to practice her magic, help the town where she lives, and settle her rivalry with Khazima once and for all.

Appearance:

Naehra stands intimidatingly tall for a woman at six foot two, though her height is belied by her willowy build. She has long legs and not a great deal of curves, her body thin and corded from long days in the desert. Her naturally dark skin is tanned a deep brown and despite her young age it is beginning to become worn and lined from the sun and wind.
She has eyes that are a bright brown, bordering on orange and are usually squinted against the sand, which has given her subtle crow’s feet already. Her facial features are full with thick lips and a wide nose, her jaw is rather pronounced. Her pitch black hair is shaved along one side of her head, whilst she wears the other side in a braid that extends to the small of her back, emulating her god Nethys.
She dresses in hide armour as well as dusty yellow robes. She wears a scarf wrapped around her head when she is outside, which she can cover her face with to protect from the harsh elements. She wears a scimitar at her belt, carries a spear at her side, and has a heavy wooden shield marked with an orange symbol on her back.

Personality:

Naehra is a brash, impulsive and fiery woman, who despite her all-consuming love of magic, is still tempered by the lessons her parents taught her.
She cares most for her studies of magic, and second most for her rivalry with Khazima
She will always prefer to act, rather than waiting, and this can often be seen by her habit of pacing around in thought, or tapping her feet impatiently.
Despite her strong desires she is not cruel, and whilst she professes to care only for fire and destruction, she keeps up her practice at healing, and will often choose healing a friend over smiting a foe, all the while complaining that her talents could be used better.
She is a woman of contradictions, but carries on through life with a fiery soul.

Actually I meant Sam Cameron-Mckee. I should have said How is the last submission coming. Sulan is fine, and I never have really bothered with all the little stuff anyway.

Hey GM. Just putting the final touches on, but I have a friend who wants to put in an character with me. Would you be able to wait just a few hours so that they and I can get our submissions in?

Apologies for taking so long with this whole process.

What happened there? I was still working on a submission. Obviously it's up to you when you close submission but I would have liked a little more warning.

Sorry about that. Got a little caught up. I can spare an extra day or two.

A shoutout to all: I have another campaign in recruitment, one that will be a multi-table that can hold up to 30 people - although it will work decently with 10. So far, I have 5 people. I would encourage all of you to enter, keeping in mind that there are slightly different build rules over there.

Cool, thanks GM. Should have my submission up tonight or early tomorrow.

Dotting for interest. What level can we expect to get to? I only ask so that I don't make a build going into prestige if we're only going to 5 or something, not that I'd mind a lower level game.

Thanks a bunch.

I'm sorry, but it's a bit too out there for me. I would rather avoid having to learn an entirely new magic system for this.

Not an issue, I can put together something paizo then, how long are you going to leave this recruitment open?

Dotting for interest, might look at spheres of power, what are your thoughts on said spheres? Otherwise I'm happy putting together something first party.

Does Starfinder society find it acceptable for male Lashunta to shave or, I don't know, at least a little manscaping? Would it be seen as uncommon/feminine. (Not that there's anything wrong with femininity, more of a personal preference in role play style)

Metrosexual-Male-Lashunta-Hipster sounds like a fun character concept.

Not sure to what degree but it does seem at least slightly sexist. If nothing else it's a pretty tired trope, hell Rick and Morty parodied it, so it's pretty played out.

We've taken some steps to correct problematic elements of the lashunta for Starfinder.

Glad to hear it, looking forward to seeing the changes. I've never had a huge issue with the race, but a few tweaks wouldn't go astray.
