Welp, I've learned enough about brewing to add some serious flavor to the class. I begin the brew by making wort, which is the result of boiling my various ingredients into a sugar that the yeasts can eat, now, I have two ways I can handle that and I want your opinions.

1. Scandinavians had things called brewing sticks, obviously these had yeast growing on them but the families didn't know why these sticks affected things just that the use of this family stick created the family mead/ale/etc. I could go this route with a specially designed box where these sticks have been kept separate and safe from contamination.

2. Or I could use the 8 hip flasks I bought with the intention of pouring my brew into them for easier access as a place I cultivate yeast. Hey, eight flasks, eight fermenter blends? Lucky break huh? This comes with an added few moves for flavor, to continue culturing these I have to occasionally replace them, so I have to give them something to grow on, so I have to make, GELATIN! Which I get by boiling animal bone! (talked to designer, he said no, screw up the balance)

Well, which option do you guys like? And does anybody know enough about brewing to suggest other of culturing them in a period like way?

Beer isn't my drink, but the traditional option is barrels. Similar to the stick they'd accumulate yeasts. For an ap into the wound, though, sticks are probably your best. Portable/abstractable.

That would make sense. But in fact I already carry those. But my class doesn't work with the assumption those are my fermenters. In my studies I'm hearing a lot about yeast cakes though and am given to understand these are one of the ways the tasty was passed down.

Silver Crusade

wow over 5 hours without a post...

what happened?

or was it Oh crap the Paladin is here, everyone scatter....

Lol. I've been sleeping, but also I don't know what to say. My character is built and I'm happy with it, and I don't know what to say other than that I'm excited to start and that I hope I make it in.

I kind of like the visual of the scandinavian sticks...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You'll like it better when I say vikinga. And I too was asleep.

Yes, I needed sleepytime as well.

Hey guys, could you chime with your alias or a link to it? Going to modify the list with links so the GM doesn't have to sort through all the banter to see the characters.

If you're on this page, don't worry about it.

I've been posting with mine. ^^ I don't usually make aliases for recruitment, but she was made for another game. XD

Silver Crusade

This is a link to Shimmer's alias, Dave.

Yeah, If you don't have an alias, try and provide a link to the post your character is in at least.

Silver Crusade

I don't like to call it sleep, but rather my nightly duel with death to awake in the morning. Helps explain why I don't sleep nearly enough.

Hmm, guess I did update this alias.

Dammit I can't stop tinkering with this little bastard. Korak is VMCed into Barbarian, are we sticking normal skill system, or is the background skill system available, definitely going to be one of my always on right there.

Yeah the background skill system is always on for me as well, love crafts.

The trouble with yeast cakes is that they'll spoil, and if you fight them with something like purify food/drink then you're potentially purifying yeast which doesn't work out. It's an interesting question, and a nice summary of why there's not more roaming breweries.

I still need to figure out what the second side of Wren wants to be sometime today. The trouble with characters built for earlier recruitment, adapting the crunch. The background for wren is one of my favorites though.

Same here, I love having a basic of who the character is and it did always annoy me to have to choose between skills I need as an adventurer and skills I want because it's my character. But now I need to figure out if I can assign an adventuring point to background skills (in case they're allowed) Because I need knowledge nature, craft alchemy and profession brewing. And I need to tinker again, because I just found out about the damn traveler's any tool, figure out what I can replace, what I can't, and start looking at a bunch of extras again.

You've missed me twice now Dave :)

Huh, sorry. Guess you got buried in all the booze talk. You will be in the updated list I post tonight. (I'm limiting reposting it to once a day from now on to avoid clutter)

Silver Crusade

That's cool of you to compile a list of links to all the characters, it's quite a job to keep track of 24 characters over close to 400 posts!

linky

I'm still bouncing back and forth between being neutral good or being lawful neutral.

Decisions, decisions.

Yeah this kind of blew up, thanks dave!

Took a fair bit of work. Luckily we were only at page 4 I think when I compiled it. Now I keep a notepad file open on my desktop so I can update it easily.

Do go on... (Maybe I should bold your name and slap it with the bigger tag too... No, probably shouldn't.)

I second that.

Same to you^^

Silver Crusade

I am still trying to decide who will join me in this crusade. :)

(man I wish we could have real emoticons on these boards.)

Agreed, probably shouldn't. I've gotten so much love already I'm gonna get a swelled head. hands you a beer with a sly wink

*Analyzes beer to make sure it has no extra mind-affect properties - besides normal beer that is*

*sniff*

Ahh... A fine Ustalavan trippel. Very nice. *returns a knowing wink*

Sabrina, Darros is essentially a paladin without the powers. He will be a fairly strict adherent to the paladin code of honor of Iomedae.

after a level or two I'm definitely going to need to look into getting mule back cords so i can buy a brewers kit for magical ales, and regular beer. also a barrel to hold said beer. Going to need a bag of holding soon too. looks around Why yes, I am preparing to be the pack mule.

Shi'Vatha wrote:

Shi's Sheet

Dave, can you use the link above for Shi? I know he has an alias, but it hasn't been updated yet. Thanks. :)

This should be the link to Velys's Crunch/Backstory post.

There are a lot of good characters on this thread. I don't envy Glory of the Crusades's decision.

We could just, you know, buy some mules. They're not expensive.

Silver Crusade

This is reminding me of the old days of D&D 1st ed.; in one of the Dragon magazines they had a mug of endless beer. All you had to do was name a drink and it would fill up with your desire!

Although that would kind of defeat the purpose of a brewer...

Ant haul and ant haul (communal) are great spells to have when you don't want to track animals and such. If you can build a (relatively) simple truss, you can cart 3-4 kegs with that spell, easy peasy!

I have been looking at the list of applicants in terms of their party role. I apologise beforehand where I have had to take a guess and got it wrong, please let me know and I'll uodate as we go along. the categories are a bit loose anyway as characters rarely fit into one straight category. Secondary roles have been added in brackets

Melee:
Sabrina De'Foe
Ally O Shan
Xantrius Kalesan (Skilled)
Darros Ironhorn
Shi'vatha (Skilled)
Daliya (Caster)
Korak the Boisterous
Dennis the Tainted
Shimmer (Switch Hitter?)
Tharris Forgeborn
Kal the Guardsman (Switch Hitter?/Caster)

Caster:
Korina, daughter of Yog-Sothoth
Wren Glasswright (Ranged)
Malzii (Ranged)
Torakh
Mithridates
Chaia Pomala
Velys Moor (Ranged)
Ven'Jar (skills)

Ranged:
Thuvius Breckindorf (Skilled)
Oret Greyhide
Grimli Chastip? (Skiled)
Davin Shadoecloak (Skilled)

@Wren, I love building gestalts. What's the side of the character you decided on? I'd love to help you figure out the other side!

Hi GavMania, Allyo Shan is a divine Caster primarily, off healer/control, and melee is like his secondary role. :) thanks!

My main part is definitely melee though around mid levels I start to work in support roles too.

I'm working on a Spiritualist//Shaman build right now. I have a general idea of what I'm doing, lore-wise, but I haven't figured out a race or campaign trait yet. However, I've decided on a Zeal phantom and a Life spirit, both of which I think work very well for the setting of WotR.

Any thoughts?

@Gavmania, Torakh is more melee than castery. Over time casting will be expanding.

With all the crazy posts about booze, and shenanigans, and other tomfoolery, I worry we've scared off the GM with the massive number of posts he has to come back to....

Sovereign Court

Eight. Pages. In five days. Wow.

People must really want to play Wrath of the Righteous.

I will be applying with this character, once she's been updated to Gestalt rules. She was in a wonderful WotR that sadly died very quickly, and I've been hoping to get another chance to play her ever since.

I think it's more that a lot of us just met people and characters we really want to play with.

Silver Crusade

Hey Morphling, good to see you again!

That was a great game, I wish it could have continued. What other class are you planning on gestalting Anarya with?
