The Zane struggles at first as the filaments hold tight but with a few more pulls he is able to wrench the door open. The filaments tear with a sickening, wet sound.

Except for the carpet of pale white mold covering everything, this room appears to have been untouched for millennia. Five heavily padded chairs sit against the western and southern walls. A bed of mushrooms grows on a large, four-foot-high, L-shaped desk across from the main entrance, next to a small cabinet. Double doors lead outside to the south, and another door leads north.

SecuriTech’s prospective clients would be met here by a receptionist before being led to a meeting room more than likely. Those without appointments would likely need to wait here for a short bit. Several datapads full of reading material for those waiting have been swallowed by the mold, as were the snacks and liquid refreshments that would have been available on the small cabinet.

Vetch keeps his eyes on the comm and sensors from the ship.

"Let's keep it tight down there. Watch for bogies," Vetch comms, waiting. "Abe, don't we have any thermal sensors on this bird? Would like to scan the place for heat sigs before you all enter."

Abe seals his suit against the mold, not wanting to breathe in any spores.

When Vetch speaks, he shrugs mentally as he comms back, "I've never seen anything that useful for sale. But yeah, I bet we'd use it a lot if we could get one."

He waits for The Zane or Draka to proceed before entering the complex.

GM: I’m guessing the more we disturb the filaments the more likely it is to react. Is there any way to work through the filaments without triggering a defense? Are they susceptible to any type of smoke, chemical, or energy that might make them withdraw rather than attack?

Moving into the corridor The Zane makes quick work of the door as he yanks the northern door open.

This spacious room is a wide swath of small, gray hillocks covering what might have once been a collection of desks and chairs. Two doors exit the room to the south. There is a doorway to a smaller room to the northwest, and a short hallway leads east past two other doors.

Most of SecuriTech’s employees did their daily work at these 20 workstations, monitoring the various security systems installed across the city, responding to messages from clients, attempting to land new clients, and performing other mundane tasks.

Draka claps appreciatively when The Zane exhibits his strength on the door.

Draka stomps through the spacious room, enjoying the wide girth to swing her tail. The Sunrise Maiden didn't have the same expanse so being in a large room felt luxurious after all the space travel. Ahh, Draka feel like Draka almost home. Almost like iCom store but office and boring. Her reptilian face, slathered with lipstick, eyeshadow, and various other beauty products turns left and right, up and down, examining the state of the workstations. (Her makeup is expertly applied but she likes to wear a lot.) "When last turned on?" The vesk blinks her double eyelids - one at a time - at Dash and Abe. To Draka, they seemed like the most tech-literate of the group.

She doesn't wait long for a response. Draka shoves one of the monitors onto the floor in a sweeping motion with her arm. "RAAAUGH!" She then plops down on the desk with a lean, one scaly arm supporting behind her, the other holding up her Com for a selfie. "Draka in high-security computer building. No big deal. #Techie." She does not offer to help search the computers but isn't against looking over someone's shoulder and micro-managing.

Abe checks to see if any of the computers yet work. He doesn't try powering anything on as yet, just looks to see if something is already on. After all, they're looking for an active router, and likely not in this room.

Assuming nothing here is already on, he suggests, "Let's come back to this. Likely nothing useful here anyway, but I don't want to disturb too much until we get what we came for."

He will go and check the alcove by the entry.

Most of this room is occupied by an oval table surrounded by six chairs. The dilapidated remains of audiovisual equipment lie on the table, coated in a thin film of mildew. Light filters in through a large, south-facing window covered in fibrous white tendrils.

Still no router, only mold. Lots, and lots of mold.

Moving on to the remaining available doorway Abe finds the Engineering Bay. This room contains three tables, and while mold has crept up onto most of the them, one of the tables has a large untouched patch about two feet in diameter. A roughly square hunk of metal, plastic, and crystal sits in the center of the open space, its sides covered with alien symbols and bits of circuitry. The filaments of mold covering the walls seem to be moving ever so slightly, as if a faint draft were blowing, though the air is still. A door leads out to the west, and another leads to the south.

This is where SecuriTech’s security engineers would repair and modify the digital locks and deterrent systems the company sold and monitored. Most of the equipment here has been claimed by the mold, with the exception of a piece of security equipment that has surprisingly remained active over the millennia.

Mold boring. Draka might be losing viewers from Draka recent performances, the vesk worries. Draka takes The Zane's words into consideration. She doesn't like the idea of running from a fight, but she'll concede that she was pretty useless when it came to the hologram. Although... all the party had seen recently was mold. And mold didn't scare Draka. In fact, Draka accidentally ingested what most people would consider inedible food on regular basis.

Draka, becoming quite frustrated with the lack of enemies, flings open the remaining door as she tears another portion of the mold similar to the sound of an orange or mushroom tearing apart.

Draka unveils what can only be described as a server room. The walls, ceiling, and floor of this room are coated with a thick layer of mold, with thousands of pale white filaments poking out like tiny fingers. However, the two rectangular objects in the center of the room are free of mold. The crystalline devices are marked with sharp-edged designs, and each has a dark computer console built into one side. A doorway leads north.

DC 15 Computers or DC 25 Perception:

The large rectangular objects are servers, holding all of SecuriTech’s data—contracts, employee records, instruction manuals, schematics, and so on—and could be accessed using the built-in terminals to display any data stored within.

The northern server holds, sends, and receives the company’s electronic communications, both internal and external, and would allow for access to Istamak’s infosphere (if it still existed), while the southern server is more secure, having no connection to the outside.

The router address the PCs discovered matches the one assigned to the northern server. You also note that the southern server has no router address, meaning it can be accessed only via the console; this one likely has the most sensitive information stored on it.

Both servers currently have no power, and their consoles are unresponsive.

Abe shrugs, knowing there's something going on here he can't understand, but unsure of just what it is. He peers at the two new servers and wonders why they are free of mold. Happy it's not worse, he sees what he can learn.

(Auto succeed at computers check.)

After a short while poking around, he points to the northern box, "That's the main server for SecuriTech. Mostly electronic communications, Istamak's Infosphere, if it still exists, that sort of thing." He moves to the other server, "This one is the real find though. No router IP. It's only accessed by the console. Secure, and probably has the juicy stuff on it. Let's see if we can find power. If not, maybe we move 'em back to the ship and plug them in there."

Abe will look for ways to power them up locally a he feels that would be preferable. If not, and he feels the only way to get them power is back on the ship, he'll break out a Null-Space cube and place it carefully to just pick up and store the servers and their consoles.

Abe jury rigs one of the battery packs to power on the servers. It takes a few minutes worth of work as well as a few stripped cables from his parts bin.

The servers power on and flicker a moment. This battery will only give Abe a minute worth of power at best. Starting with the northern server Abe quickly realizes that searching through the directory that information such as admin keycodes cannot be found on this server. Took 5 charges total.

Swiveling over Abe hacks into the southern server and he swaps his cable set over, the battery nearly drained. The southern server is behind a failsafe firewall. If Abe fails hacking into it he will send an electrical shock out to everyone within 10 feet of the room.

Sweating a bit as he really only has one clean shot at this Abe gives it a go and barely gets past the firewall where he finds the admin keycode for the Foundry’s XLT-88 digital lock, basically, a certain combination of keys pressed simultaneously puts the digital lock into a maintenance mode, making it possible to disable the lock without knowing the current keycode, which for security reasons would be automatically changed every month. Now the crew will be able to access the Foundry and find out what exactly the Corpsefleet found and where they went off to.

Just then the servers shut down as the battery is completely drained. The filaments of the mold covering the walls begin to ripple as if caught in a strong breeze. They quickly coalesce into a solid mass that seems attached to the building itself, blocking your exit. Vetch watches in horror as this all happens on camera.
