Vetch is able to hover the ship close enough to the rock formation for Draka and Dash to help the others get back into the ship's bay. With each ping and jolt of rocks against the hull Vetch spills another trail of hot chocolate all over the deck.

”Ok, everyone to their stations.” Dash announces as the crew boards the ship. Moving to reclaim take his spot in the captain’s chair, he pauses, then peals himself off the seat. ”Dammit! What is this sticky sh!t all over everythin?! Did the septic system spring a leak Abe?”

Recap on the way to the Temple

Armed with knowledge of the admin keycode and the location of the side entrance, you can enter the Temple Found and attempt to discover what the Cult of the Devourer learned when they were here, while putting an end to Xavra’s occupation of the temple.

Vetch takes the ship back to the moss covered platform and secures it once more before the group heads back into the desolate cityscape, using the Herald's crude map.

One of the more prominent buildings in Istamak, the Foundry was once a government facility for research into weapon technology and the production of new armaments for the kishalee empire. The kish of Istamak have imbued the structure with heavy religious import, as over the millennia it has remained the most intact building in the city. They understand the Foundry was important to their ancestors, though they don’t know the exact reasons why. Because of a damaged exterior sign, the building has become known as the Temple Found. Until recently, any kish could enter the temple, explore most of its interior, and commune with the ancestors by examining the Foundry’s many surviving data files.

However, after the Cult of the Devourer took advantage of the kish’s hospitality, ransacked the Temple Found for information, and attacked the kish (killing a few and wounding more than a dozen) before leaving, several kish believed that it was time for a change in the rules of access.

Chief among this outspoken group was Xavra, a huntmaster in the service of Istamak’s leader. He began to demand that the Temple Found be closed off to all but those who had proven themselves worthy, especially excluding any further outsiders. He swayed many to his position before another member of the leader’s council—the curate Tzayl—decried this proposal. Tzayl and her supporters were subsequently banished, and Xavra took his warriors into the temple, closing and barring the doors behind them to force the issue.

The main entrance to the Temple Found is located in the center of the building’s northern facing. The front plaza features an elaborate fountain with a hammer-and-anvil motif. The fountain no longer sprays water, but the kish believe the rain it gathers has healing properties. A number of images painted on the side of the fountain explain these supposed properties. However, the water within is completely normal and merely tastes faintly of copper. The large front door is also emblazoned with blacksmith imagery and is free of kish graffiti. It is quite thick, sturdy, and bolted and heavily barred from the inside. It would take days of work with industrial tools to cut through the doors—a luxury you probably don’t feel they have.

Draka loads into the ship and frowns at the brown sticky mess. "Robot not potty-train rabbit?" The vesk shakes her large head and moves to sit at her usual station, putting on a pair of sunglasses.


Abe looks at the sticky substance on his keyboard and eyes Vetch warily. He leans in close... sniffing. Then, a little tongue as he tastes the computer interface.

"Nope. That's definitely chocolate. Someone has been drinking on duty." he grins, saying nothing further and reaching for a ready stack of alcohol swabs. As he cleans, he downloads a copy of the data to the main ship's computer.

When they reach the doors, he suggests diplomacy, "If we can't blast our way in, maybe we can talk our way in. I think The Zane should do the talking. He's developed a rapport with these people. And, uh, knows the language."

"Find out what makes someone worthy of entrance. Maybe we can convince them to let you try to become worthy."

If The Zane agrees, Abe will cast Comprehend Languages when he begins so he can at least follow along.

Then he turns and heads for the infirmary. ”Whatever. Someone clean it up, I’m going to blend up a big-a$$ anti-bacterial, fungal-killing, cocktail. Zane can talk with the locals - they see eye-to-eye.”

Vetch, being a quasi-ratling, doesn't seem to notice the spills or the stickiness...that stuff just *happens*. It's kind of nice. It reminds him of home. Like sleeping in a bunch of wadded up rags. It *was* home. He curls up under the affected counter to take a nap, occasionally sniffing out to lick an hot-chocolated console, then going back to sleep.

Draka stands up suddenly. "Talk with locals? Draka go! Draka fabulous diplomat!" (She is not.) Draka cracks her knuckles and smiles a wide, toothy grin full of pointy teeth. She follows her Blood and Fury companion.


Abe considers The Zane's suggestion, and Draka's offer. Also Vetch and Dash's absence.

"Well..." he says shrugging, "I say we head through the side door if we can. If that doesn't work. We send Draka in the front to sweet-talk them." He grins as he thinks about what that might be like, and worries they won't have such an opportunity again. Still, the side door is the better path forward he thinks.

He checks his weapons and is ready to depart when the rest of the crew is.

Hmm...is this same day or different day than the previous excursion? For some reason, I thought we'd rest before going into the next thing. But maybe not.

As they approach the Temple, Vetch rousts himself for the raiding, making sure his pistols are charged and cable wiring is tightly wound around his legs.

"Abe, can you open that side door up?" Vetch says, pulling his pistol, his staff-cane in his other hand. Vetch will ready to enter the side doors.

You could most certainly rest if you want to. You rested just before the mold attack. You have plenty of safe spaces to do so. Just keep in mind that the Cult of the Devourer and the Corpse Fleet has been one step ahead of you and have already gathered this information and left to who knows where. Did you guys wish to rest for the night after the mold before heading here?

The side entrance to the Foundry is down an unassuming side street that ends in a 20-foot-tall metal fence. A closed and locked gate leads to a lower portion of the Temple Found’s grounds.


"Yeah, I can open it I think." (Happy to push on unless folks really need to stop.)

Abe will move to the door and open it when the party is in position. He'll check for simple traps before opening the passage.

Abe picks the lock on the gate and swings it open. Weeds poke through cracks in the ground in this long, narrow courtyard shadowed by a large, blocky building. A broken bench sits next to a simple but imposing metal door with no visible handle or hinges. A sign is affixed to the door above a digital keypad.

This side entrance was used by the Foundry’s security agents, with a bench for agents who wanted to get some fresh air while on their breaks. The sign reads “Security Only” in Kishaleen, and the keypad features other Kishaleen symbols that roughly correspond to numbers.

Using the admin code drawn from the server and lock's owner manual Abe is able to unlock the side door itself! Abe pushes the doorway open to the Foundry.

A faint layer of slime covers every surface of these connected chambers. The largest open area contains a set of empty lockers, one of which seems likely to have held a collection of guns and ammunition. Bits of metal and plastic are scattered everywhere. One side room contains a small, round table, another a metal desk, and a third, a few rows of chairs and a podium. A door leads east.

"Good job, robot-whisperer," Draka invites herself into the room first and makes a straight line towards the empty lockers. Then, she makes her way over to the area with the podium and looks to see if there's anything on it. "Draka hire assistant do press conference one day," she roughly articulates, then shows her pointy teeth. "For now, Draka update... BUT ONE DAY!" The vesk slams the side of her fist into the wall behind the podium. "All galaxy hearts conquered." The vesk nods to herself, "by Draka."

After doing a little bit of exploring, Draka offers to 'open' the door to the East. The party would know by now that 'open' means denting it inward or ripping off the hinges. She taps her Swoop Hammer on her shoulder, awaiting instruction.

Draka slips and slides on the slime-covered floor as she makes her way to the eastern stairway. As she does move closer to the stairway, movement in the adjoining room to the south catches her attention. Inside is a large pulsating ooze that seems to have picked up anything not bolted to the floor as numerous weapons and circuits cling to the sticky substance and almost seem powered by it's kitbashed appearance.

Zane hears the events in the other room and runs over, pulling out Bubba and taking a diving leap as he squeezes off one from the trigger.

Landing sideways and rolling. Springing back to his feet on the other side of the door jam.

Zane rushes in firing off a shot with Bubba, not quite understanding what the slime truly is. Bubba's laser sears into the floor, sending sparks leaping into the air. Abe's laser proves just as effective as his laser misses as well.

Draka brings her swoop hammer to bear into the slime but it seems weakened as the sticky substance absorbs some of the blow.

A small pseudopod of slime reaches out at Draka with surprising speed for such a slow moving creature.

Draka is caught in too close of quarters and misses horribly. Abe fires off a single shot, though it hits the kit-bashed slime it doesn't seem to harm it in the slightest as it absorbs the fire. Fire resistance.

Messalina pours freezing coolant down on top of the slime and it seems to slow it down for a few seconds at most.

Zanes shot sears the paint right off the wall as he tries to aim away from hitting Draka in the process. Vetch is able to coat a small portion of the slime in acid as it begins to sizzle and pop, sending small globs etching into the wall and Draka's scales.

Dash begins sighting in his rifle as all the jostling about seems to have misaligned the sights. The plasma rifle attached to the slime unexpectedly begins to hum with power as it fires a stream of plasma 40 feet right through Abe, Messalina and Dash. Provokes AoO from Draka

Desna seems to be more focused on a bald Shapeshifter this day as Zane misses opportunity after opportunity. The third eye must be throwing his equilibrium off and will take some getting used to.

Vetch manages to dissolve more of the slime with his acid as Dash sinks a bullet into the middle of it, though it doesn't nearly hurt it as much as a bullet should have, as the jello-like substance slows it. DR.

Not much lined up anymore the slime blindly continues to smash Draka.

Messalina's coolant freezes a large patch of the slime. Seeing an opportunity Vetch summons forth some of his magic space missiles. One by one they crack into the rime and frost until the slime bursts apart all over Draka.

A handful of the things collected by the scavenger slime are still in working condition. These include:

  • haste circuit armor upgrade
  • Foundry flux artillery laser (functions as an aphelion artillery laser) with 16 charges remaining
  • Foundry bloodlight plasma rifle (functions as a red star plasma rifle) with 20 charges remaining
  • Foundry twin boltcaster (functions as a dual crossbolter)

    Vetch is careful to avoid the slime as he moves in, checking for more movement.

    "That was pretty ugly, wasn't it?" Vetch chitters, looking around When he finds an interesting piece of equipment, he wipes it down and hands it to Abe.

    "You think this pistol still works, Abe? Can you get it working?" Vetch eyes some of the weapons, unsure if he's big enough to use them well.

    "Dash, Abe? You gunna take some time to get right? You look wounded."

    Zane looks over the equipment.


    "Sure Vetch, I can give it a try." Abe uses a Token Spell to further clean the items. He'll place the batteries in the charger (well one at a time) and carefully examine them.

    If he can get them in good working order, he passes them around.

    He'll then take-10 to heal up and tinker with Messalina, healing her 17hp as well.

    Now, THIS is some good tech. This Big honking thing is used to crush people and things. It's designed to punch through bunkers and reinforced walls. Pretty damn snazzy. Kind of reminds me of the stuff they are designing in the city of Aphelion. Who, for those that are interested have a sports mascot named The Weeble-Wobbles.

    Zane was pointing towards the Artillery Laser.
    That could easily be the "new"Bubba.
    I'd love to upgrade to this laser.

    The other items are also solid. The Plasma Rifle is special. It cooks s@@! on two frequencies. Heat AND Electricity. it's like a two speed blender. Major Bofo! but it's unwieldy and heavy.

    The other thing appears to be something a wookie Vesk might use for distance. It can even shoot out grenades!
