Round the second.

Quivering with rage and salivating around the jagged edges of his dentition, Vojtek snaps his jaws menacingly then steps toward the wolf. He slashes wildly with his blade, and dodges the creature's wounded flailings to deliver a wicked bite to the beast on the side of its face.

Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 11 - 2 = 20 for 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 11 + 6 = 26 damage.

If nobody else wants it, Kappi will use it for a blankie during cold nights (which is pretty much every night here). But for now he rolls it up so its not identifiable for going into town.

    Blankie!!! LOL!!

Linus Kappi is only too happy to take the hand-me-down from his adopted big brother. For Vojtek's part, he proudly wears the winter wolf pelt and chuckles good-naturedly at Kappi's expressed concern about its identifiable nature.

A bit further down the road, with the shantytowns outside of Whitethrone coming into view, a small stream cuts across the path, winding its way toward the clear shores of Glacier Lake. A stone bridge crosses this rill, apparently constructed with horse and wagon or caravan traffic in mind. Snow has been cleared from its span; the bridge is clearly well-maintained. Four foot high stone railings run along both sides of the bridge, topped at either end by iron spikes, upon which clean and meticulously polished humanoid skulls have been carefully impaled and turned as if to observe traffic.

A white painted signpost greets travelers; written in Skald, Hallit, and Common, it advises foreign merchants that Whitethrone requires licenses to do business in the city and that all cargo is subject to inspection at the city gates.

Nadya this patrol was looking for us, so I don't trust entering the town as we are. You mentioned that your uncle might be able to help us?

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

Nadya opens her mouth to answer Edward when suddenly a trio of large bipeds with pale green scales for skin and meaty webbed hands and feet clamber out from beneath the bridge.

    DC 13 Kn (local):
These humanoids appear to be giants of some sort.

    DC 18 Kn (local):
These creatures are merrows, best described as the aquatic cousins of ogres. Although their green, scaled skin and webbed hands and feet make them appear different, merrows are just as cruel, savage, and wicked as their ogre relatives.

The largest steps to the middle of the bridge and, in broken and accented Common, holds her hand out and shouts Papers, please!

  • Pretty much back with the exception of a double header IRL game on the 30th.

Before approaching, Davosh will cast both Mage Armor and Guidance.

    Local: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Davosh shares the details of the spoilers, then adds that he once heard of a type of stew called Merrow marrow. (It's not very good.)

Knowing that Edward won't lie, and that this isn't going to go well, he keeps Liska close.

Nadya has some form of merchant/trading papers right? She should hand them over. Maybe we can get by.

Edward detects evil among the three. If he feels some, he will cast a meaningful look at Ali and Kappi. He will also take a moment to establish Life link with Vojtek.

Edward takes a little step forward raising his hands in a peaceful manner. In a whisper to Davosh. I hope this gambit works

Mr Merrow. I would be glad to present papers to you, but in accordance with the Posted rules that you are enforcing, I must decline to show them to you.

As you can obviously see we are not merchants, nor are we foreign (he points to Nadya). So in accordance with your sign we can pass without challenge.

    Edward:
    Totally evil.

The three merrows look uneasily at one another; they don't seem to understand everything Edward says, but obviously get some of it.

    spoken in Giant:
Human knows! Knows our tolls are illegal! Human will tell Whitethrone!
