Rounding the corner of the twisting, natural cave, Kappi sees a nearly-complete skeleton lying on the ground. He freezes a moment, waiting to see what happens next; but the pile of bones doesn't move, so he approaches warily. He spies a small bag a foot or two away from the skeleton.
This part of the cavern otherwise appears to be a dead end.

Alert with trapspotting working overtime Kappi approaches and takes the bag. He looks inside.
He turns back to the small skeleton and whispers as he makes the sign on Desna over his heart, Rest in peace, we will disturb your place no more...
Is everyone else satisfied? Lets go check a different passage.

What's in the bag? yes, ready to advance.

GM thunderspirit
The bag has a handful of shinies (35 gp) and a pair of potions of cure light wounds..
Kappi retraces his steps to the bifurcation of the cavern.
Davosh the Wanderer
Unless Ali is overloaded with potions, give them to her. Davosh pushes his dancing light to it's current place on the map.
GM thunderspirit
Davosh directs the dancing lights through the twisting cavern as Kappi creeps along at the edge of the illumination.
Shortly the cavern empties into an open area. Within, Kappi spies a shape shuffling about, a feral-looking man with a thick sheet of filthy green fungus grows in twisting patterns across his shoulders and back.

Round 1
Kappi moves forward to kill whatever moss monstrosity that stands before the group, but hesitates at Davosh's statement. Kappi thinks to himself, " Desna weeps, what a horror the man's life must be".
Then with a tiny bit of inspiration, the rogue pulls a pair of his daggers and hefts the sturdy pommels. He figures he can throw in a way that the pommel will strike instead of the blade. This way when he throws it should be a nonlethal attack, hopefully we can just knock this guy out. Then maybe OjosLocos can save him.
non lethal throw 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 - 4 = 8
subdueing damage 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4
second dagger 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 - 4 = 17
subduing damage 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Davosh the Wanderer
Is tearing it off via grapple viable, or will it have drilled inside and is now a part of him?
GM thunderspirit
non lethal throw 1d20+8+1-4
subdueing damage 1d4+1+1second dagger 1d20+8+1-4
subduing damage 1d4+1+1
Love it! It doesn't matter this time cos both daggers missed; but make sure you're using the two-weapon fighting rules on your attack.
Davosh the Wanderer
Unless Kappi has quickdraw?
Davosh shakes his head in frustration. "Just kill the carpet, I'll heal the man. Just be ready to break off if we're ruining things!
Having learned his lesson, he casts Burning Gaze on Liska.

you can, but you need either the quick draw feat, or two weapon fighting... or both once your BAB hits +11

Or, to have both in your hands and impose the appropriate penalties (–4 primary/–8 off-hand normally; -2/-2 with Two-Weapon Fighting feat). To draw both and attack in the same round, yeah, you'd need Quick Draw.
(A one level dip into Fighter could give those two feats to Kappi. Just sayin'.)

Davosh: spell resistance check for the burning gaze, please!
Mwahaha!
GM thunderspirit
That overcomes the SR.
mold's avoidance ability (immediate action): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Liska's eyes burn red and she shoots a beam at the mold, which slithers out of the way at the last possible instant and lets the beam strike the man instead!
DC 18 Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
He cries out in pain as he takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 fire damage!
Refl DC 18: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
He does not catch fire, however!
The mold rears back and flings a small pod, about the size of an ioun stone, at Kappi!
ranged touch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
With a roar worthy of the troll he is not, the man charges forward at 1 Davosh, 2 Liska: 1d2 ⇒ 2, a battleaxe drawn into his hands as he moves!
battleaxe w/charge, Power Attack, WF, WSp: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 2 = 17
1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13
Liska yelps and falls to the ground, bleeding profusely.

ROUND 1
Ali pulls out her wand of Color Spray. the map is a bit unclear, so I don't know if I can fire off a charge safely--that is, without hitting anyone else--or if I need to move first, in which case I have to hold the shot 'til round 2. Please advise.
GM thunderspirit
Ali would have to move for the spell to reach him in any case, so draw as Move, Standard to move. She has a Swift if she wants to use it.
I moved her to position herself between Davosh and the opponent using her full 30' of movement; if the position is not cool with you, please move her (or have one of us move her) appropriately.
Edward, Vojtek!
Davosh the Wanderer
Any word on the targeted spell? Burning gaze isn't an attack, it's a targeted spell effect. Would it be able to use that ability against say Charm Person ([MA] designation not withstanding?)

Sorry I've been away will try to get caught up. I haven't figured out what resources I used after the last combat.
I have a few questions. Which wand of healing did Ali use? I hope we have another, otherwise this is going to get very painful. Could we have bought one when we were re-supplying?
Next question. On Ali's action couldn't she have drawn her wand as part of her move action she does have a +1 BAB, or do wands not count for the free draw as part of movement? If she could then her standard would be colorspray.
Round 1 Edwards action
Edward hears Davosh's instructions, decides to pull out his sling and a bullet to either hit the mold or knock the guy unconscious.
If you can resist attacking us, we will get the mold off of you and return you to your loving wife.
Sling to the Moldy forehead(hopefully): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Then spying Liska's bleeding body. I will save her soon Davosh
Edit: After reading Davosh's question, it's a very interesting one. Burning Gaze doesn't require any kind of an attack roll, just a Fort save to negate damage. So after going back and forth, IMHO I would say that since the creature's ability to avoid requires a reflex save to work it doesn't apply to burning gaze. I based my decision by checking out Evasion, and I would rule that since Burning Gaze has no attack roll and is a fort based save that it wouldn't work there either. The Stalwart Ability from Inquisitor grant's "Evasion" for fort and will saves. Which is why I assume that Evasion doesn't work against fort based attacks

Willing to discuss further in the future, but I'm gonna roll with it as is at this point; reading the ability, it specifies "damage dealt" (and isn't evasion itself).

As mentioned here, you'll need to hold off until you reach Ringeirr near Whitethrone. (Incidentally, this is why the bag Kappi found had two CLW potions in it, too — cos I'm not really *trying* to kill you via attrition just yet.)
Next question. On Ali's action couldn't she have drawn her wand as part of her move action she does have a +1 BAB, or do wands not count for the free draw as part of movement? If she could then her standard would be colorspray.
Can't draw wands as a weapon unless you have an item that allows it (say, a wrist sheath).
Edward — using the sling is fine; just need to know specifically which you want to attack: the human or the mold.
Davosh the Wanderer
Gotcha. I think Burning Gaze is just cursed :-)
"Thank you Edward! I think it's time to change my approach..."
I'll be targeting the mold with my Hex next. It's a Will save, not reflex, so I don't think moving around will help it in anyway.
GM thunderspirit
Edward flings a sling bullet and hits the mold!
Davosh remembers that the mold is a plant, so he should use his hexes accordingly. ;-)

RAGING VOJTEK!!!!
Vojtek is puzzled why a piece of tundra, which usually supports life, might turn evil and infest this man. His puzzlement quickly fades to anger at this perversion of nature and the wiry man attacks with abandon!
Round the First
Vojtek takes heart at Davosh's shouted instructions, feeling good that the ancestors are speaking through the man with the glacial eye. Not that he understood much of it mind you. While the finer points of ancestral instruction may be the purview of the elders, Vojtek believes he has the go-ahead to attack. He swings his Greatsword wide, aiming for the abominable man-mold.
Power Attack to the mold with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 1 = 26 for 2d6 + 11 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 11 + 3 = 22 damage.

subduing damage 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 5

Kappi's dagger pommel strikes the man in the head!
The mold appears to heal a bit! It then reaches out mentally to Ali, who needs to make a DC 16 Will save!
With a five-foot step, the man howls ferociously and attacks Vojtek, declaring Cleave to carry the attack into Davosh!

Vojtek tries to excise the mold from the man with reckless abandon.

Round 2
Seeing the Mold covered husband trying to slicing Vojtek, and almost catching Ali in the same attack, Edward wonders why they don't separate and flank on either side of him to stop that kind of behavior.
During all this mental meandering Edward scurries his way along the wall, concentrating on forming a life link with Vojtek.
GM thunderspirit
Ali shakes off the mind control and Vojtek finishes it off. The man who pore it collapses to the floor of the cave, unconscious.
Out of combat!
Looking back, that last attack should've been on Vojtek, then cleave into Ali. That'll teach me to post from my phone. >.<
Kappi Matarito
With MoldMan down, Kappi quickly recovers his thrown tomahawk and dagger. Then realizing that there are at least two more unexplored passages full of danger, the rogue takes up position at the edge of the room to make sure nothing sneaks up on the party while they deal with MoldMan.
