He hopes that Davosh speaking in the tongues of the Ancients would have some sort of positive effect on the situation.
Then the rogue tightens up with fear. Thinking to himself "did Davosh just cast a spell? Should I be attacking with speed and fury?"
Kappi holds his attack for the moment waiting for a more overt signal.

Though always put a little off balance by Ali's strange nature, the young Varisian is quick to agree. Then as he suddenly realizes he is standing a touch too close to the elf woman, he hastily steps back and puts much focus then is needed to take off and re-tie his head scarfs.
Kappi is ready to head into the city.

Crossing the bridge, the full majesty of Whitethrone slowly creeps into view.
At this point Nadya turns off the main road, heading toward the shantytowns east of the city. Arctic gulls teem in the overcast sky, their cries filling the air. The Fishcamps, she says simply as she guides you through the ramshackle huts erected on the cold ground, hard packed and barren from generations of foot traffic. Dories and other small fishing boats are either moored to dilapidated piers or else pulled ashore on the grey, pebbled beach of Glacier Lake. The noisome stink of fish is pervasive.
Nadya hisses to put your weapons away, even hide them from sight; the residents of the Fishcamps are notoriously distrustful of strangers, who often bring trouble for the whole town. Good people, she insists, just vorried about them and theirs, as vould ve all be in their boots. Ve must convince them ve do not vish them harm.
She stops outside a hovel about a block away from the water, looking inside the grimy window and then the sagging doorway with increasing agitation. Ringeirr is not here! she says with some alarm, And he has not been for several days! Ve must ask about — discreetly — and see if someone knows vhat has become of my husband's uncle!

"I'm sorry Nadya..." Davosh's eccentricities drop away for a moment. "Let's take a moment to look about for clues here before going out and about."
Davosh then stops talking, looks up over his left shoulder and begins mumbling a conversation with must presumably be, the Ancestors.
"Lads and lasses, I'm not a normal man, it's true. I also don't do well with people who didn't die generations ago. Still, there are powers. True Powers. Nadya, can I get to a purveyor of magics? There are spells I wish to teach Liska, and scrolls I'd like to write. Whilst the charismatic members of our group do that, I'd like to do what I do best."

Kappi hesitates for a bit looking like he is about to talk but keeps his mouth shut. Then finally before someone slaps him on the back he speaks. Im probably not the best at talking, but I might be able to help find someone or information. . In some ways these rough fishcamps reminded him of many similar places the Varisian caravans would visit and trade with. There were always people who knew things. Always some people who were more than they seemed.
But first lets see if there are any signs that could help us get started right here.
Unless Nadya stops him, the jerky but quick footed youth slips into the hovel and looks around for anything out of the ordinary or anything that could lead to somewhere else.

Kappi's investigation finds signs of a scuffle, along with some evidence that Ringeirr was forcibly removed from his home.
The young Varisian is less familiar with Irriseni people, but he recalls his cousin Pekin used to pay extra gold to make sure the locals "never saw anything," even though they always saw plenty. Perhaps some befriending of the local populace might work things the other way, too.

Knowing that a group of armed outsiders make the locals nervous, Kappi quickly unslings his javelin bucket. He pulls off his extra tomahawks and slips them inside. He hands this off to Vojtek and solemnly asks the warrior to hold on to them for a short bit. He also tells Edward of his plans and that he may signal him to use his charismatic ways if need be.
Though still wearing his little short sword (and his favorite tomahawk under his cloak), the young rogue approaches the folk in the nearest hovel.
The lad can speak Skald and has Nadya translate for him if need be. Kappi pulls out a bundle from the bottom of his pack. It is his old tinker kit. The lad lays out the tools of his (old) trade and points to some of the rougher pots and pans in the hovel.
Please, it would be an honor to fix those pots/pans for you.
The lad will try to use his tinker skills to break the ice with the locals. Once he gets started he will try to see if they know anything about Nadya's friend who was dragged out of his home. He will also give them a small purse of ten gold. The lad will call in Edward if he feels he needs it.

Patience, grasshopper. You can buy lots of stuff once you've secured your black market contact, AKA Uncle Ringeirr.
Kappi is met with distrust at first, but his capable repairs soon put the house more at ease.

Edward does take and hide is sword, and tries to conceal his longbow as best as possible. Edward watches Kappi and Ali try to work their way into the hearts of the locals. Ali with her beauty, Kappi with his youthful charm, and tinkering ways.
Edward keep pace with them offering his kind smile and smooth words. He also offers to pray with the ailing and injured. Those that he can connect with he will life link to. He makes sure to be kind to all especially any elderly that are here. As the lass and lad progress through the village Edward notices a couple street urchins that are ubiquitous to places like this. Picking up a few extra sweet cakes at the bakers whom with he prayed with about her battles with arthur. Edward prescribes that she take some of the cinnamon that she uses each day to help with the joint pain.
With the urchins still following the trio, ok no they are following Ali and her exotic look Edward approaches them. They give a squeak of a start like they are in trouble and turn to run, but Edward presents the extra sweet cakes that causes them to pause and look at each other.
Here boys, these are from Madam Leither's bakery. I can attest they are still warm. You can have them if I can ask you a few questions. .
With barely a glance between them they shake their heads. With big eyes, and glands already generating the saliva needed for the promised cakes. Yes Sir, what ya want ta ask?
Did you know Master Ringierr. A nervous glance passed between them, but the sweet cakes were still winning.
Yes Sir we do, but...
Good lads, Good Edward says with a smile. See I have his niece with me, but he isn't anywhere to be found. I was hoping that either of you know or have heard what happened to him? If not maybe someone you know does?.
With their answer Edward gives them the cakes, and if they lead him to someone who does know he gives each lad 5 copper.

The people are hesitant, Edward can easily tell, due to fear of reprisals if they discuss the matter. Nevertheless, the earnestness of the party is enough to get Uliana, the mother of Artem and Sasha (the urchins to whom Edward gave sweetmeats) to confess quietly that Ringeirr was recently arrested for disturbing the peace by the Fishcamp Guards. Further inquiries reveal the truth of the matter: the Fishcamp Guards are really nothing more than a group of toughs who regularly extort the villagers for "protection."
Ali gives Artem a small lock of her elven hair, which fascinates the boy, and has to shoo Sasha more than once from her elven curve blade, which has the girl dancing about in mock swordplay...much to Uliana's chagrin.
As the party departs Uliana's hovel, a commotion has arisen near the piers. Hurrying over, you see a handful of burly fellows dressed in a similar fashion to that which Uliana says arrested Ringeirr. They have wicked-looking hooks in their hands and stand over a prone fisherman in obvious distress. They take turns kicking and punching the old fellow and calling him a swindler, a delinquent, and a liar.

I'm going to proceed with the following assumptions since our pogs were off the map. Starting Map Coord's from top left corner Letters are vertical, numbers Horizontal. Edward starting at B9, Ali at B8, and Kappi (with a stealth roll) starting around B15 behind the crate. I am going to assume that Davosh is somewhere around b/c 4-7. Vojtek I have no idea where he is starting. I can't move the pogs since I'm on my iPad.
With an approving nod at Davosh's direction of him sticking up for the weak Edward steps up and moves the cloak off his sword. You still have a standard.. and your within 30'. Can you see the map? If not here is the sitch. I moved your pog east 30'. The wiry Kellid sees their choice of target as a sign of cowardliness. He moves in with predatory grace and focus as he lets his anger consume him. His blade falls like Irrisenni ice at the man with the orange tabbard: ATK: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 likely a miss Just in case: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 6) + 11 = 22

Gah, forgot he was out. Sorry, all.
The barbarian's twitchy rage brings him close, but not close enough; his quarry dodges out of the way at the last instant, and he catches nothing but the icy dock!

            Round 2
Edward watches the flashy knife display, but his unflappable will isn't impressed, and his resoluteness pulls Ali out of the slight awe she was showing. Anyone can spin knives around and be flashy in front of helpless people and an audience. Try that when someone with intent to harm you is next to you.
He then advances just to the west of orange, and swings his sword. Keeping the ruffian's attention away from the stealthy Kappi.
Cold Iron Longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

            Round 2
The rogue creeps forward to right side of the barrels and while attention is still on the main group, Kappi ambushes with a hurled javelin at the red leader.
Stealth 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Throwing 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 1 - 1 = 18
Javelin sneak damage 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + 2 + (1, 6) = 14

            Edward's blade misses...
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
...but it provides a fine distraction for Kappi to play sneak a-javelin right in the square of Red's back! He howls in pain, then whirls on Kappi. You'll pay for that, runt!
Orange swings his ogre hook at Vojtek, trying to trip him!
Trip vs CMD: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
I calculate Vojtek's raging CMD as 19, yes? 10 + 7 (STR mod) + 2 (DEX mod) = 19. If so, he is prone.
Red moves up and swings his ogre hook at Kappi, trying to trip the Varisian!
Trip vs CMD: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Kappi deftly doges out of the way!
Red then gives a shrill whistle, and three more toughs turn and start heading your way! All three double move.
