New forum for our Dragon's Demand game!

PATHFINDER SOCIETY CAMPAIGN MODE

We will be running this game for Pathfinder Society credit, using the Campaign mode.

That means we'll be using my house rules and we'll all get a Pathfinder Society chronicle at the end.

You need no register your character with the Pathfinder Society, but you must have a Pathfinder Society number. If you need to get a Pathfinder Society number, go to the My Pathfinder Society page and click the "Add a new character" button.

"Campaign Mode" means that for sanctioned modules and Adventure Paths, GMs are allowed to use their own rules for character creation and running the presented content (the entire book or series). Credit is applied to an appropriate Roleplaying Guild character as if the character created was a pregenerated character.

CHARACTER DETAILS

Starting Level: PCs will start at 1st level.
Alignment: No non-good.
Ability Scores: 20 Point Buy. No score lower than 10 before racial modifier.
HP: Max at 1st level; average rounded up thereafter.
Skills: Background Skills are in use.
Traits: Two traits. No drawbacks.
Starting Wealth: 150 gp.
Races: Core
Classes: Core, Base and Hybrid classes permitted (except no Gunslinger, Vigilante, Magus, Summoner, Witch or Arcanist). No Occult classes. No alternate classes. Barbarians, Monks and Rogues must use the Unchained version.
Firearms: No guns.
General Build Stuff:In addition to the above restrictions, anything not PFS-legal is out. No options from the Occult or Horror books. No optional rules.

HOUSE RULES

”Flanked” is a condition. That is, if a character is flanked by at least two other characters, he is considered to be flanked by any characters who threaten him.

Block Initiative. I use block initiative. That is, if two or more PC’s are next up in the initiative order, any of them can go regardless of the actual order. That’s to keep delays to a minimum. However, if someone uses a group buff later in the block (but before any NPCs go), I’ll consider the buff to have occurred before the actions of the other characters in the block.

Adamantine works differently. Adamantine weapons only ignore hardness 5 (+1 per magical bonus of the weapon).

Death hurts. Other than a TPK, If your character dies and you cannot get him or her raised, you will come back into the game with a brand-new character one level lower than the one you lost.

POSTING RULES

In most of my games, players are expected to post every weekday and at least once over the weekend. However, this game is specifically being done as a "slow" game. However, note that what for me is excruciatingly slow might be blisteringly fast for you. It has been my experience that when players permit themselves to post less than once a day, the game slows to a crawl and then dies of boredom with no one able to remember why they're involved in the first place. So, the requirement will be to post at least three times every week, you are strongly encouraged to shoot for every day.

Even if your character has no particular action to perform or you’re waiting for another player, you should post your character’s thoughts or actions, just to keep the story moving and let everyone know you’re alive!

All posts, even in combat should include descriptive color and preferably speech.

Characters should talk to and about each other, not just voice their own character’s observations on the immediate situation. We've all played a ton of games and it's not worth going through the motions just for the mechanics. Let's create interesting characters who form ties to the community!

Brother Ianto, or Gravedigger Ianto as the townsfolk call him, lives a simple life shepherding the worshipers of Erastil. He practices his teachings away from the complications of more traditional religions and his church is a simple affair, a wooden pole barn at the edge of the forest road, serving the faithful.

He is active in his community, leading by example, and serving in various capacities as needed by those that live around them, militiaman, logger, carpenter, or gravedigger; leading his followers by example and good deeds rather than flowery rhetoric. He works for the good of all, faithful or not, for free. He collects mushrooms, honey, and venison from the forest and trades it for his meager needs.

His order is a traditionalist order and they do not wish to impose their view of the world upon the others, but better them through examples of good living and strength of faith. They encourage rather than force, and attempt to gently chide those who may stray from the path of the protector. They do not tolerate genuine evil, but they prefer to remediate rather than punish whenever possible; to reform instead of destroy. If the redemption of the order’s foes is not possible, they will do what is necessary without hesitation, but with remorse for those who cannot be saved.

Erastil teaches his followers to embrace traditional and simpler ways of life, free of the constraints of modern civilization, a trait that often results in disagreements with more progressive deities like Abadar. Recent conflicts between the congregation members of Eupaphenia Targas, cleric of Abadar, and Brother Ianto's group have put a strain on the community.

Being an elf has its advantages. For example, the humans expect you to be haughty. Often times there is no need to explain yourself, you just show your ears and return back to your thoughts. Another advantage is your naturally long life span. It allows easier excuses to give your jilted lovers as you move on. You also get to avoid any unnecessary emotional ties.
But being an elf comes with complicated baggage, mainly being an elf.
These days I am happy being away from my own blood. The humans mostly accept me as an unobtrusive scholar. They are happy to see my dancing light shows in exchange for sour wine, moldy cheese, and warm place to lay my head. And when the mood strikes, I can always use more powerful spells to make the evening go much more pleasant. Generally, the townsfolk don’t mind. Everyone remains entertained and the emotional wounds generally don’t go too deep. When I do take it a step too far, well lets just say I move to the next town to see what secrets their libraries hold.
For now, I haven’t created too many scars in Belhaim. Tivadar Admes has been as close a friend that I could want: dull, dry, and obsessive. Its also means that his meager library is well organized even if the material is as equally dull as his personality. For now, I respect his ability to teach the youth of Belhaim (for what that is worth).
Of course, I make plenty of time to visit with Xemne while I “pretend” to study apothecary. While its true, I am sometimes wish to make more potent potions my attention is easily swayed by her conversation. Being easy on these elven eyes, never hurts either.
Talia is of course true to her kind. An Innkeeper should welcome all and trust no one and Talia fits the bill perfectly. The Wise Piper is nothing special around these parts but again the wine is drinkable and nobody has died from her soup (to my knowledge at least).

Hello all and thank you for your patience, have had a busy few days.

Ding!

Almost finished re-working my guy. More detailed post coming today.

PS: Hi, all! I'll be a pole arm/reach fighter.

It's been nearly a year since Wulham Thornbriar, 19, unceremoniously rode into Belhaim in the back of Etor Adula's manure cart with an expressionless mouth across his face and rag covering his head. "Thorny," has since thrown himself into some of the town's most unpleasant and challenging work ranging from lumberjack to mucking stalls to helping "Big Bull" Baccus haul massive quantities of steel to nearby markets.

On busy nights at the Wise Piper Inn, or during festival celebrations, he'll don his cleaned and waxed studded leather, take up his enormous pole arm and act as security. His past as a soldier is something he speaks of with pride, usually within the first 5 minutes of meeting someone. Given his youth, though, it doesn't take long to realize he recycles the same stories of all two battles (one and a half, really).

With his headscarf pulled low on his brow and tight around his head, Thorny can always be found taking his once a week dinner at the Wise Piper. He smokes after every meal, spends time on the holy mornings at Brother Ianto's church, and every one is pretty sure his separation from his service as a soldier was not by choice. He always manages to steer the conversation in another direction if it approaches the topic of his separation, leaving an sizable hole in the story of his past.

Thorny is generally regarded as a nice young man who is well liked around town, though some people are put off by his eagerness to do work and others are suspicious of his storytelling.

Sitting at a table right inside the door of The Wise Piper, Gravedigger Ianto takes measured spoonfuls of his lamb stew. Truth be told, it's more turnip than lamb, and he peers over his spoon at the Varisian youth, speaking between portions. She has already finished the bowl he ordered for her, and shifts impatiently on the hard wooden bench. "You know, Mad, you really must commit at a better path, one of moral virtue and kindness. I've met many good people who made me feel ashamed of my own shortcomings, but our roles require goodness and I hope I can change your outlook."

He preaches every mid day to the youth to change her ethics, trading coneys for the stew of the day, a half loaf of bread, some sharp hard cheese, and a jack of mead, brewed from last season's honey. She learns at least one lesson, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

I think he wants us all to be good.

That's a wicked spell check on my phone. I might need to stick to computer. At=to

NOTES ON THE CHARACTERS

First, as stated above, this game is being run for the Pathfinder Society, so before we begin, each of you needs to give me your Pathfinder Society number as well as the Player Name you want on your character sheet.

Zatial: Looks fine. One note though: Talia Orem is not as you have described her. She's very generous. Also, please enter a stat line like Gravedigger Ianto's.

Mad Mad Varisian: You need a name. I'm not calling your character Mad Mad Varisian. Second, you need a good alignment. Third, your mechanics look good, but you need a background. Fourth, please expand your stat line to look like Gravedigger Ianto's.[/b]

Gravedigger Ianto: Looks ready to go.

Thorny: Background looks okay. Let's get the character sheet into the Profile. Also, please enter a stat line like Gravedigger Ianto's.

I think mad is short for Madeline.

PFS is # 23667-7

Hey, Ianto- what "line" do you enter your stats on? I always have to reinvent the wheel with each character.

GM- is my line on Talia ok? I tried to make large assumptions based on the information we had. Or perhaps my PC is a poor judge of character (more likely).

Knowing myself, my play style and my sarcasm Mr GM Tondor sir, if you have issues with something as simple as my character's name I'm going to bow out now.
I like to consider myself a humorous lighthearted fellow but that jump started my devilish side and without knowing a few of you I'd prefer to let the devil remain dormant.

Many apologies to you all and thank you for the invitation,

Mad Madeline Human Varisian Irritating Player Person type guy...something something something

Well, the way I see it, I'm not objecting to a name, but rather to a lack of one. But if you think that bowing out is best, I thank you for doing it before we get started.

As a GM, I have no problem asking for a few basic things. I'm going to be necessarily putting a great deal more time into a game than the players, so I'm okay with asking players to choose new avatars or alter bits of their backstory to fit in with that of the game... or for asking for a name I can understand.

N'Haaz-aua wrote:

From my perspective, you can leave that stuff out of the header. I don't need it. I want only the information presented in Gravedigger Ianto's header. If I need the rest, I'll look at your character sheet.

Clapping Zatial a little too hard on the back releases a puff of dust from his worn work glove. He roars in laughter, "Ah, my faerie friend, I got you that time. Hard work has smells, you should try it some time!"

Tell him not to use his name. I don't want to be biased in my selection.

Wouldn't you rather play with people that are known instead of random people?

That's why I let them invite folks they knew...you.

But when Mad Mad left and Gabe said he didn't have anyone left to recruit, I opened it up to the public. Kind of a jerk move for me to close it back down now.
