It's been nearly a year since Wulham Thornbriar, 19, unceremoniously rode into Belhaim in the back of Etor Adula's manure cart with an expressionless mouth across his face and rag covering his head. "Thorny," has since thrown himself into some of the town's most unpleasant and challenging work ranging from lumberjack to mucking stalls to helping "Big Bull" Baccus haul massive quantities of steel to nearby markets.

On busy nights at the Wise Piper Inn, or during festival celebrations, he'll don his cleaned and waxed studded leather, take up his enormous pole arm and act as security. His past as a soldier is something he speaks of with pride, usually within the first 5 minutes of meeting someone. Given his youth, though, it doesn't take long to realize he recycles the same stories of all two battles (one and a half, really).

With his headscarf pulled low on his brow and tight around his head, Thorny can always be found taking his once a week dinner at the Wise Piper. He smokes after every meal, spends time on the holy mornings at Brother Ianto's church, and every one is pretty sure his separation from his service as a soldier was not by choice. He always manages to steer the conversation in another direction if it approaches the topic of his separation, leaving an sizable hole in the story of his past.

Thorny is generally regarded as a nice young man who is well liked around town, though some people are put off by his eagerness to do work and others are suspicious of his storytelling.

Ding!

Almost finished re-working my guy. More detailed post coming today.

PS: Hi, all! I'll be a pole arm/reach fighter.

Scott -- I'm e-mailing you a PDF of a draft of my fighter. I'm not 100% happy with a few of his details, so I'm going to think on it and make changes in the next day or two.

I made a few assumptions in his creation and can un-do anything that is incorrect to your starting rules (I didn't see any reference to house rules creation guidelines in our recent chatting):

I used the PCGen program from pcgen.org. Everything is Pathfinder core.

Ability score -- I point bought his stats with the "high fantasy" 25 points. Let me know if you want something different.

Equipment -- I haven't purchased anything yet. Not sure what the starting gold is.

Awaiting guidance for additional tweaking.

Gabe: I played Pathfinder for a couple (few?) years with Scott. D&D/3.5E/D20 has just been off my radar for a long while and I'm a little more than rusty.

I like the idea of playing at a 7-9 level, but if it's too much trouble (or not possible) to scale up Dragon's Demand, I am all-in for the grind.

I do have a PFS number, but not a character. I can work on one this weekend.

Dragon's Demand: Let's do it.

Then let's do Dragon's Demand. I don't have, and I didn't detect any powerfully strong leanings toward Iron Medusa from Gabe. I just picked one in the interest of moving along and was mildly motivated by the idea of skipping the low-level grind.

Actually, it might be quicker than I think. There are all sorts of Pathfinder character generators out there I can use to guide me (verifying rule compliance, of course). Do you have a preferred one?

What are your character creation guidelines -- do you have a link? It's been a while since I've whipped one up at level 1, much less level 14. I recall rolling ability scores and having them e-mailed to you from a specific web page?

This Sunday might be a bridge too far for me, but I will try.

I'm going to go opposite of my usual rogue-y, special teams type of character. I'm going to play a prototypical fighter. He's a former foot soldier, possibly with some sort of war-time disability, and he left the service in some sort of shame. Something public he can't hide. Maybe he was branded with a big C on his jaw for cowardice or something.

If you're looking to start a game this week, you should press on without me and I can join a bit late, adopting the mantle of whatever role is needed when this all plays out. I'll be in an intensive training course beginning tonight and lasting the rest of the week and can't dedicate time to character creation until next weekend.

Additionally, I don't know that I'll be able to sustain posting twice a day as a norm. Once a day is my sustainable average with more than or less than being the oddity. This variance increases with the impending holidays.

If this would crush the sought-after pace of the campaign, I would understand and can respectfully withdraw my participation.

Mic check. Patrick checking in.
