I sent the other fella a message in the system, and "if" he responds I'll direct him to the recruitment forum to post his character. However, he hasn't wanted to do to much pbp in the past, so I don't think I'll hear back from him anytime soon.
Of
Course this is Tarondor's game, I'm just trying to throw out names of people I knew are on the forums here.
FYI the website mentioned above really helps! I knew that there were post in the thread!

Checking in - thanks for having me!
Eliastra is an out-of-work ex-con... but she has a few skills for traps and tracking that might prove useful.

Valena is good to go. Just need Eliastra's background.
Now for the next bit for you four to consider. When the need comes for experienced heroes, the authorities are going to turn to you four. Why?
Do you have experience together? Or are you simply four reasonably competent people thrown together at this moment?

I was thinking that when the big thing happens the cleric will be too busy to go check it out, and the town will move down the list to the almost blind Oracle. I can't see her adventuring much before the event, but she is a competent healer in the community.
Zatial and I would know each other from spending time at Xemne's shop.
Others thoughts?

Eliastra Greenbow was a lost soul in the early years of her life. Abandoned as a child, she learned to live off the streets, finding a place in a gang here or there, scraping to survive. As she was very nimble and quick witted, she often was involved in picking pockets or breaking into places to steal. As such, she was also prone to having to move from place to place, trying to stay ahead of local law enforcement.
One day, Eliastra found herself stumbling into a small town called Belhaim. Looking only to score a few free meals and perhaps a few coins, she had no intention of staying in the area. Trying to steal a few small chickens from a cattle ranch, she got caught in a trap set by the rancher, one Lennold Brenlow. While she tried to charm her way out of trouble, that arrogant man simply hauled her into town and tossed her at the doorway of the local jail. Spending a few nights behind those bars, she started to seriously wonder what would happen next. Trying to make small talk with her jailer was a lost cause. Deputy Gergis Bellet, while nice to look at, was not much for conversation. He was dry and humorless, and seemed to consider Eliastra to be little more than boot scum.
After her third night, she finally was able to pick the lock on her cell and get out - but only moments before the alarm was sounded. Desperate, she looked for a place to hide, finding a small shop nearby filled with all sorts of pots and pans, gizmos and gadgets. Sneaking in, she found a small cubby and hid for three days, despite a lady living there and going about her business. Finally, hungry and cramped, she moved from her spot - only to be staring right at Phedra Delbin. "I was wondering how long it would take you to come out," she said. Tha lady was shy, but kind, and she offered Eliastra some food and a chance to explain herself, which was more kindness than Eli had really ever experienced before. Hunger tore at her, so she quickly accepted, eating 2 loaves of break and 3 bowls of stew before she even began to talk. But talk, the two ladies did, and before long they found they had a common interest in devices and how things worked. Phedra allowed Eliastra to stay, helping with repairs for whatever anyone brought in, in exchange for food and shelter.
Eventually, though, both girls agreed that this couldn't continue until they found a way for Eliastra to clear her name, at least in Belhaim. Phedra contacts a man she thought could help. Azmur Kel, a druid of the Green Faith, was an aloof man, but he was also fair-minded. He did help broker a deal between Eliastra and Lennold Brenlow, to work off the cost of the stolen birds plus restitution, and Eli was given a sentence to perform community service for 6 months, which basically consisted of cleaning rooms for Talia Orem, owner of the Wise Piper Inn. Talia was also kind, friendly, and appreciative of the free help, providing Eliastra a small room in exchange for her service.
After her time was up, Eli continued to help both Talia and Phedra with their business, finally realizing she could earn her keep, as meager as it was, without resorting to crominal behavior. So far, she has managed to keep her nose clean, and make a few good friends in the process.
Eliastra, while having a checkered past, is fairly well known due to her time working at the Wise Piper Inn and at the tinker's shop. Her skills with devices are often discussed, and while not completely trusted, it is known that she knows how to take care of herself. (Some may also consider her expendable for some of the same reasons...)

Is it ok for our commonality to be the Wise Piper Inn? It seems the place where we all hang out. Perhaps we share a common dinner table and during our time we have gotten to know each other.
Between our special abilities we surely have gotten the eye of the local authorities (or whoever would want to call us heroes).

Please educate me as to the etiquette using this board as a medium. I've never played a game here before.
When the GM has something
Seems to make the most sense, but I want to do it right.

Yes that is how it works. If someone with you gets the DC, they will relay the information if they choose. Sometimes they say check the spoiler. With the request to Roleplay on this campaign I'm sure the GM would prefer we share in character.

Thank you. I did the dice roll and saw that it didn't change from preview to preview, so I used the success or failure of the preview roll to dictate my actions.
Is that how it's typically done?

Refresh my memory -- knowledge checks are not something you can do untrained, correct? Or are those some topics (arcana, engineering) and not others (local).

Today is Tuesday the 30th. I will be in Norway with my wife and in-laws tomorrow through Sunday with only my phone for internet and who knows how much time for posting. I should be back to normal by Sunday evening.

Hi guys, sorry for my absence. I'm back in the DC area for some work and brief vacation. I'll be back tonight to make a post.

Without a paladin or someone with Power Attack, fighting the imp can be frustrating and difficult. Its combination of damage resistance and fast healing is powerful at this level. So far you've found that it has no particular defenses to magic missile.
Mostly, this fight has been long because of your poor luck with the dice. I'm confident your luck will return!

We're headed to Prague today and will be there through the week. Step in for Thorny when appropriate and if I've been absent for too long. I will mostly be on the move but might be able to czech in (get it?) on my laptop in the evenings.

A word on nets:
Because they attack a target's touch AC, the -4 penalty for using a non-proficient weapon is often mitigated. A net, or better yet several nets, can be an efficient method of stopping a foe too dangerous to fight in melee. I've always seen them (and candles!) as invaluable tools for the low-level adventurer.
It might -not- be the most efficient for fighting an imp, however, because of its high dexterity.

I'm back. Traveling with an almost-two year old is not for the faint of heart.
I will be caught up by this evening (it's 9:16am my time).
