Lena disappears from the tentacles' grasp, and casts a protective spell as her companions move in on the maggot figure. They send little worms splattering as they strike, but even then it feels like more seem to fill in the gaps almost instantly. Still, despite that, it's starting to look hurt and distracted by Elena's hex.

He tries to cast, but just as he does, Bronin's arrival sends a handful of maggots from the pool into his mouth and he loses the spell! Big save from the misfortune.

Know (nature) DC 14:

You think there may be rot grubs among the maggots. They'll burrow through an afflicted creature’s body, eventually causing death. Cutting the grubs out requires a slashing weapon and a DC 20 Heal check, and deals 1d6 points of damage per round that the host has been infested. A successful Heal check removes one grub. Remove disease kills any rot grubs in or on a host. Any amount of damage reduction is enough to provide immunity to infestation, making the worm that walks immune to the rot grubs.

As soon as he was sure Elena had the chicken in hand, and it was needed, Whiskeyjack laid the flaming blade to the spots where the rot grubs were.

You're able to kill the grubs before they can kill Potpie, though do suffer some beak and talon wounds in the process. A quick search through the former spellcaster's gear before you all get out of the grub-infested pool of maggots reveals +4 leather armor, a cloak of resistance +4 and a staff of charming.

Another pair of double doors leads to the west.

Elena works on healing her scratches as Potpie angrily takes to the air. Loose feathers rain down from above as Elena chases the chicken around scolding it. "You singlehandedly fought a demon and won, but a grub nearly kills you cause you can't sit still?" Elena is mainly just frustrated with herself because there were a couple points when holding Potpie as Whiskey's flaming sword made the chicken smell quite delectable.

He listens closely at what FieryLena says. You are 110% right. This leather armor is too yucky for me to even consider. Let's sell it and *not* tell the merchant where the leather originally came from- that'll drop the price by half at least!

I didn't realize I upgraded my mithral chain to +3 already. It's far better than the Leather armor. The Armor penalty check is a downside I can live with.

Black flames lick the walls of this huge ceremonial chamber. Three giant statues of Urgathoa loom threateningly over stone pews and a processional leading to a black altar atop a raised natural outcropping. A dark pit boiling over with foul necrotic energy gapes at the far end of the room, and a writhing humanoid form hangs stretched over the well, stout chains tethered to each of its limbs.

A pallid humanoid pic on the combat map seems to preside over the ceremony here, as Count Galdana hangs over the pit. Or does he? The pews are filled by 15 cultists dressed in simple robes, each of them looking identical to the man hanging over the pit, the man you've traveled all this way and nearly died time and time again in an effort to rescue.

As you try to take everything in, the group of Galdanas in the northern pews rise and turn toward you. They continue their eerie chanting to Urgathoa as they rush forward, clearly hoping to overwhelm you before you can react!

The figure behind the podium begins rushing down toward the pit, and begins casting a spell.

Seeing and hearing what was going on in the room beyond, Whiskeyjack conjured up some of Angradd's protections for his friends, he moved quickly among the group, placing a seal of protection on each of them, except for Wren who was too far away.

Wren casts haste as Elena waits for room to get in, giving Lena a chance to fire a couple of fireballs into the room. Three of the Galdanas go up in flames, but two manage to dodge the worst of the conflagration, shrugging off much of the flame that does effect them they have fire resistance.

Bronin moves in, avoiding a swing from one of the Galdanas, who he then cuts down with Adder's help. Whiskey casts a quick spell to layer on protection for everyone as the remaining Adders close in.

Undaunted, they close in themselves, grabbing and slashing at Bronin and Adder as they continue their chant. Bronin can't quite keep track of all the Galdanas surrounding him and take a vicious cut into his side from one crit does 23 hp, while another one nearly grabs Adder with the help of his friend Red aided, but still not quite enough for Green to grapple.

The priest in the back finishes casting his spell and continues moving south, where he casts another spell, causing all but the two southern-most Galdanas to being moving far more rapidly.

You all bring flame and lightning and steel to bear, leveling Galdanas left and right in a mass of carnage. Of the three remaining, the one seems to wander to the south, while two close in on Bronin and Whiskey, though both men are able to turn away their swords.

Meanwhile, the apparent leader of the service stops in front of the pit, his wounds seeming to heal as he stares balefully at you. He pauses and then calls on Urgathoa as he casts another spell.
