Bronin Dohari |
Bronin blushes for Elena Nethermore. He's embarrassed by Wrens words FOR her. He knows that the feathery bird has NOT been talking about recipes these last few months. But, Wren seemed to have tapped into the debase knowledge and/or kink level that Elena has hidden.
Bronin listens closely , without looking like he's listening close. But, his face is red as rose petals.
Vladlena |
Lena just laughs. Be careful, Elana. Wren is a crazy, somewhat cowardly, bird elf, but she is a wizard. Which means smart. She may be playing with you.
Lena thinks about it
Or not. Besides, you have worked in an Inn? You have likely heard worse

A search of the ghosts' room reveals platinum parts litter the shelves and tables, mostly components from broken magical weapons, melted-down jewelry, and other salvaged items containing the precious metal. A [o]silver spirit planchette[/i] rests on a shelf here, and a various items of platinum jewelry and half-complete lich phylacteries worth a total of 12,000 gp can also be recovered.
Moving south, you discover smoothly polished skulls yellowed with age gaze from countless small alcoves perforating the stone walls of this chamber from floor to ceiling. The collection contains specimens from many races, though all of the skulls are missing their jawbones, which lie on the lowest shelves beneath the skulls. There's no magic radiating from the skulls, and after a short time, you decide to move on, continuing your press forward.
Still, if the skulls were disturbing, the next room is as awful as Wren's imagination. Rotting corpses stacked like cordwood rise halfway to the ceiling of this chamber, threatening to collapse inward because of the path something has made, or rather chewed, through the pile. The stench of rot is overpowering, and insects buzz in the air like an oily cloud.
The disgusting haze and overpowering stench of rotting vapors and buzzing flies are treated as heavy smoke for the purpose of breathing, potentially choking PCs and providing concealment to all creatures in the room (A character who breathes heavy smoke must make a Fortitude save each round (DC 15, +1 per previous check) or spend that round choking and coughing. A character who chokes for 2 consecutive rounds takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage. Smoke also provides concealment to characters within it.).
The pile of corpses is considered difficult terrain for those attempting to move on top of the pile. The ceiling in this room is 20 feet high. The room’s gore-soaked floor is slippery, costing 2 squares of movement to enter a square, and increasing the DC of Acrobatics checks by 5. A DC 10 Acrobatics check is required to run or charge across the floor.

That's what I was afraid of (and would have taken effect before the channel. We'll see how we can resolve after the fight, though.

Adder: 19
Qlippoth: 16
Adder falls, the stench of his gruesome wounds sickening, as you realize he's not breathing anymore, even despite Whiskey's healing power. Everyone within 30 feet of him (which I think is just Elena and Bronin) must also make a DC 26 Fort save or be sickened.
Not wanting anymore to fall, Wren and Lena continue to blast the qlippoth with magic missiles, which rip into its awful form. It seems to teeter and looks like it's taken a beating, but remains on its legs, even as they wither under Elena's magic.
Bronin lets out a scream of rage as he sees Adder fall and rushes toward the beast, Wren's magic easily giving him the ability to get to it, despite the horrors of the room. It sinks its fangs into the swordsman as he gets close, and gags from the stench of Adder's wounds. Still, he manages to fight off the worst of the creature's bite sickened, 15 hp, plus 8 bleed, but saved vs. the curse and takes a mighty swing at it -- only for the fetid miasma to throw off his aim.
Confronted with another creature blocking him from getting to the annoying spellcasters, the extraplanar horror directs its fury at Bronin. But thanks to his speed, Bronin's able to avoid the first two attacks, blocking them at the price of two of its claws gouging him. 32 hp

Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
Fort: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Whiskeyjack pushed through the gagging stench and focused on keeping his friends alive. In this case, he figured that was best served by downing the creature as quickly as possible. Quickly he spun off a shard of divine light and sent it hurling at the Qlippoth's head, where it exploded in brilliant radiance.

For hellfire ray, it says half the damage is unholy, but I'm assuming that's just in terms of fire resistance, and not meaning that it doesn't affect evil (just as flame strike could affect good-aligned characters normally).
The twin blasts from Elena and Wren finally destroy the qlippoth, which is incinerated in a burst of brimstone. Combat over; the room is still foul, but without the threat of combat, you have the chance to enter and leave as necessary, so don't worry about those conditions.
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
As soon as the creature was downed, Whiskeyjack rushed into Adder's side. Checking the orc for signs of life, he immediately began to cast.
