Wren's spenn is just enough to save Lena at the last minute, as Elena's magic bring her back to consciousness. Still she feels weak, and mortal peril is still at hand conscious, but only at 1 hp. Not far away, potential death looms, battling Adder and Bronin next to the dying form of Whiskeyjack. One turns to Adder with his scythe, while the other hopes to bring Broning down as swiftly as he did Whiskeyjack. The blades cut true, and Adder just barely avoids what would almost surely have been a decapitating strike at his throat 59 hp to Adder, 42 to Bronin

The fly remains in the pit, perhaps the only thing keeping you all alive right now. But a quick glance shows it's climbing up, and could emerge in a matter of seconds!

Per ooc w/Motte, the 2 priests are down: "Yes, they're both dead. Note that we'll still be in combat."

Wren moves in, mindful of the golem in the pit. She decides to give the party time by casting a Wall of Force to cover the pit, denying egress.

"You budgies want to grab everything you can and we'll drag it out of here? We have a few rounds before...before I'm not sure what will happen when that pit ends, to be honest," Wren offers, trying to get the loot and get away before the golem returns. She notes the severe injuries to a few people that she likes.

I figure we got 10 rounds to get out. Doubt the golem will chase, but not sure I want to find out.

Seeing Lena move again -- along with the realization that Whiskey is down and death could still be at hand -- seems to inspire Bronin and Adder and they manage to bring the two priests down.

The moment to breathe is shattered by Wren's twittering, however, and you grab your dying companion and beat a hasty retreat. I'm assuming you're going to pull back, which you have time to do (and stop Whiskey from dying, and heal up as you want). If you want to remain in the room, however, we remain in combat rounds and everyone will be up.

Even as he asked, Whiskeyjack was channeling healing energies to those around him.

Bronin feels much better as the healing energies wrap around him and settle within him- binding his wounds and gashes. 108/153

He looks to ask for the wand of curing after others are done with it.
In the meantime, he holds a tight grip onto his long sword and short sword. Defending those as they recoup.
Only half the mission is accomplished. Rovagug still flys. (or is it spelled "flies" even though Bronin's aluding to it's appearance).

Wren chirps and flits, worried for the health of her little birdies. She relaxes slightly as they all show life and might be not dead.

”Did we get everything? Is there anything within that we missed?” Wren wonders about books or notes, something that might help them further. ”We should be fully healed before we go mess with that big fly…but might be that we can avoid it altogether.”

Looking at the ‘Campaign Maps’ link, seems there is a door around the way on the left to the last unexplored area.

We barely survived! That was crazy close. We should count our blessings and praise our respective god's.
Whoever did those spectacular arcane magics.... you or all of you.. saved the day.

Unfortunately, a quick exploration reveals the door opens into a small chamber devoid of furnishing or decoration. The still air within the room is dry and carries the sharp tang of foul-smelling smoke.

An exploration reveals six bodies in here; to your surprise, though, they don't animate. Perhaps they were being preserved for some later use or they were supposed to be bodaks, but I don't think that's a combat we need to have unless someone really wants to.

You're left with the giant iron golem fly as your only way forward.

Wren chirps and flutters as other get healed, realizing that the party missed something in the iron fly room and that they need to go back, probably.

”Oh my little chickadees,” Wren coos around the party. ”I think we have to go back into the room with the iron fly. I think that we’ll be better able to handle it, but we should prepare to get thrashed.”

Bronin's jaw drops. He sputters. He followed the story as much as possible. His face turns red.

He really feels uncomfortable personally talking about sex and knows he has controversial thoughts about the proper place for men and women (especially in the bedroom). Yet, Wren's a bird/person.
He'd normally choke down this question, so maybe his question is un-Bronin like.

Sputtering and with body language that reflects a total lack of confidence. He's outside a comfort zone.
Wren- You ARE talking about sex right? I listened, and while at the end you made Turtle Soup (something Bronin likes a lot), you were grinding on the threshing floor with this strong man?
I only ask because you mentioned your other stories were about cooking recipes-- yet there was far more "cooking" than recipe in that last story.

Wren seems confused at Bronin's question.

"Of course it's about turtle soup? Did you even hear the parts about the oregano and seven other sinful spices? How it requires a good froth and a good beating to get *just* right!" Wren seems aghast at the direction Bronin's mind has gone.

"And breaking the meat out of the shell is pretty hard, you know? It takes a bit of thrashing and beating. Not all of us are youthful warriors in our prime, you see, my little chickadee?"

Wren tries to forgive the question, but is very confused how one could mistake a simple turtle soup recipe for sex, which is completely different. One requires at least 2 halflings and a deaf derro to be done correctly. Obviously.

Bronin listens to Wren's explanation. He feels a bit better, but isn't fully convinced. Wren is a strange bird, and Bronin is a total Rupert (Just like Vladlena correctly labeled him).

I don't know. There was this female bard that visited the court once. Sang a song called, "Afternoon Delight". I was darn certain it was about making afternoon sun tea - which isn't my topic, but it had a catchy tune. And I will tell you, it WAS NOT a song about brewing tea. It was about having afternoon ...
and Bronin mouths the letters, S- E- X with his hand covering the side of the mouth so that VestalLena doesn't hear the scandelous word.
Then there was another song called, "Pina Colada". It's some alcohol they make down near the Eye of Abendigo. I thought it was some pirate shanty, but instead it was all about some failed ADULTERY!
Bronin still has a very uncomfortable posture, but he at least feels he's explaining with two "food examples" about why he thought Wren was talking about sex with his cooking recipes.
I had to ban the bard from performing in the Castle. I was talked out of running her fully out of town by my advisors. They said that censorship was bad.

You get from Bronin's tone and words - Bronin certainly didn't agree and was probably forced to relent. He probably feels that Censorship is perfectly fine.

I have a spell called acid spray. It should have the golem most effectively. but it is area effect, and will ess other up. If I can hit it first, it should weaken it enough to be taken down

”I’m not sure I have too much left against the golem,” Wren clucks. ”I used most of my good golem spells in the first fight to prevent it from killing you all and then saving Lena’s life for which she never thanked me.” Wren passive-aggressives with the best of them.

”Maybe if I didn’t thanklessly save Lena’s life, I would have some good options in this battle, but I’ll still do what I can do. Maybe I’ll keep watch in the hall and guard our backs while you do what you inside.”

Wren will offer a Haste to the party, because she’s not miffed about not being thanked at all and would never mention it because she’s not even thinking about it.

Haste, you know the deal, when the time is right.

Hmmm. It's a Golem ...hmmm. So it's not Rovagug. Hmmm... Maybe I need to make my weapons a bit stronger. I could also use the aspects of The bear.
He uses his pearl of power and recasts Led Blades on his weapons. He also casts Aspect of the wolf (Bear) a 4th level ranger spell. And takes a final hit from the Cure Light Wand to get as healthy as possible. clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Switch defender to AC.

Bronin...Rovagug is a god. We would be dead if he...she...it was here. Lena explained gently.
Also Rovagug is more the rip you to shreds type of god, not become the living dead. And he...she...it is imprisoned in the centre of the earth. By other gods. That thing is a construct made by a wizard. Why a fly? Wizards are weird, always smoking something.

I think you mean, oh "Afternoon Delight."

After a moment of thought, Lena realizes the fly is the sacred animal of Urgathoa, The Pallid Princess, goddess of death, disease and the undead.

You make your way back to the room, opening the door to find the fly back where it was, above the large fire pit that also was removed by Wren's own pit spell.

Initiative:

Adder: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Bronin (+4 in forests, mountains, +2 in plains): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Elena: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Vladlena: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Whiskeyjack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Wren: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Pretty Fly for an Iron Golem: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

Party can all act first; you can assume you cast any buffs you want before you went in, but remember to account for the rounds if they're of shorter duration.

On the approach Lena recasts shield. The fly might be symbolic of Urgathoa, the goddess of undead and disease and stuff like that.

Lena steps forward and casts Acid spray at the fly

acid spray: 14d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 1, 6, 6, 5, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1) = 39 DC22 for half

just looked up acid spray, and it allows an SR roll. That might mean it doesn't work against this thing. Oh well, Lena is more an intuitive caster.
