Ah, sorry. Honestly, I don't typically mind if anyone reads my spoilers. Even if I put them to specific character, I figure folks can look at them, though know they're intended for that character and you shouldn't act on that action. If I really want something to be secret, that's what a DM is for.
With my mechanics spoilers -- especially because we're high level and I came in late so don't know the details of everyone's characters -- I certainly have no problem if people want to doublecheck my math, etc. I typically try to label those rolls specifically for that purpose. (For example, if I roll concealment but don't realize someone has Blind-Fight.)
--
Along those lines, I trust players to look up stat blocks for Knowledge checks. Obviously if something's not a baseline monster that won't work but I usually try to indicate it as such. Don't feel you need to wait for me, especially if they're standard monsters.

@Gm. My text was flavor more than anything. Since I didn't know where my clothes were, I didn't want to technically "do" an action. Again, roleplaying the fun circumstances I find my PC in. BOY THIS IS FUN and FUNNY!
Now onto the technical side:
Wren goes before Bronin in initiative and the OOG PC has indicates he will act before Bronin to do some magic. I'll wait for Wren's post and then reply. My problem is that I have CRAZY work today. My post will be quick and lackluster. Sorry in advance.

Oh my, I read back and found this nugget of humor after we failed diplomacy checks and started calling members of the order Gnome-racists. Oh, it's good to sometimes re-read these beauties and laugh heartily. Wren's tale about gnomes and halflings brought me to tears again. Plus when the GM says that your PC is the most interesting of things in a club dedicated to interesting things... that's a compliment!
The flashback.
-------------------------------
As Bronin begins babbling about his own intrepid adventures, the Count is immediately transfixed. It's clear that he's not exactly thrilled to be a member of this club and he sticks out like a sore thumb. Or would if Wren
wasn't drunk.
While Bronin talks a pained-looking alcolyte makes his way over. "Ahem... sirs and madams. May I please remind you along with the rest of the public that any... ah, misconceptions about the past of the Esoteric Order of the Palatine eye remain just that. Gnomes have been permitted within our order for the past twenty years and gnomehating is strictly forbidden within our halls. Also whatever that weird bird lady just said about a gnomelet also sounds forbidden so don't say that either."
But regardless of Wren becoming the most interesting thing to happen to a club dedicated to interesting things,

@GM- I lost my mind with your whitty post. I laughed so dang hard. If I could give a +3 of favorite posts, that would be one I'd flag as an uber-favorite.

Took second Covid vaccine yesterday. I'm feeling a bit off still. I'll post late tonight (PST). Sorry for delay. I'm thrilled about this battle though! Thanks GM.

Hey all,
I'm going on vacation Monday-Thursday, so I don't expect to be posting at all. Beyond that, my wife is home for the next two weeks (through May 22-23), so I may be posting sporadically in that time. And then the next weekend is PaizoCon, so I don't know if I'll be prepping for that the final week of May. So in total, I may be posting infrequently until June 1 or 2.
I know we're in the midst of combat, so I'll try to post when I can, since no one likes waiting in such a situation. That said, that also takes more time to post, so I can't guarantee I'll find that time.
Anyway, short story long, I'll be posting haphazardly for a few weeks, but then will return to our normal hopefully more regular posting schedule.

Just to follow-up: We're obviously at high-level play here. I don't consider myself a killer GM by any means, but how do you all feel about lethality. That combo was supposed to be evil eye on Lena, which could have sickened her -- if it had, she only had a 10% chance of surviving the finger of death. I won't generally go out of my way to target folks' weakest saves (Lena was simply positioned closest to the wolf), but that combo of effects is specifically called out as one to use in the book...

As a GM I approve of killing players. I also know how hard it is to work replacement players into an AP. so 50/50 here.
As an added note, if you're going to use save or die spells, consider targeting Bronin in the future. No one would miss him ;)

Harsh Bro :) Yes, he is a silly aristo but...Sorry lost my point there.
As the recipient of the attack I of course may be biased. If we had a raise dead capability it wouldn't be so bad, I don't know if whiskeyjack can do that. I'm sort of against it if that capability is not around.
The double whammy effect would have finished Vladlena, as the attack was double her hits. Still, she can disintegrate which is much the same. I guess play the rules as they are. Though after 5 (nearly six) modules it sort of would be an anti-climactic end. (also the first character death, I think).
It should not be an issue in the final boss battle (which I assume is coming). let the possibility of certain death be around. Allow for dramatic death scenes

I am totally fine with killing PC's/Players. Both as a GM and Player. Sometimes the dice go your way and sometimes they don't.
I have a belief that we should never feel as if we are superheroes tromping around and nearly bulletproof. It actually takes away from the narrative, and *The Story* (IMHO) is always of paramount importance. Death can make for a galvenizing story for the survivors.
As an aside, if you (as GM) had worked it that Bronin followed the Duke out side alone and he got killed-- I was totally fine with that possibility. For I saw Bronin trusting in those he felt he had bonded with and given his trust. Disillusioned enough by the Masked guys to easily fall into their trap. That's Bronin as a character and one of his (many) weaknesses. To die because I gave Bronin a weakness is like a badge of honor to me, as a player.

2 potions of inflict serious wounds, a scroll of phantasmal revenge, a cloak of resistance +3, a headband of vast intelligence +2 (bonus to Bluff), a pearl of power (3rd), and a ring of protection +3.
That ring and the cloak are both good items for anyone. One of the casters gets the pearl, obviously. Neither the potions or the scroll is like to be of use to this party. Can Wren use the headband? I think she may be the only int-based character here ironically

Wren the FeatherMage |

Can Wren use the headband? I think she may be the only int-based character here [edit]not surprisingly, squawk![/edit]
Wren has a better headband already. You should take the Pearl 3, if you want, W’Jack. I think it’s good for, uh, uhm...characters with limited spells, to have the pearl, whereas smart birds with many many slots don’t need it as much. :)
Or we can share as needed.
She has no interest in the scroll.

![]() |

Lena will claim the cloak of resistance +3, replacing her +2 cloak to the kitty. After that close shave with the finger of death, Lena is feeling a bit exposed. man, that was close. She will take the scroll if wren doesn't want it. Unless Elena wants it.

Bronin Dohari |

Bronin can use VladLena's old +2 Cloak of Resistance.
I don't need the Elixir of Hiding. I already have 2.
The Ring of Protection +3 is intriguing. I have a Ring +2.
Can I grab the ring and swap for someone else that wants my old +2?
Please advise.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Can I grab the ring and swap for someone else that wants my old +2?
Wren can use the old musty ring, if no one else wants it. She likes sparkly things.
*squawk*

Have fun

Bronin Dohari |

I get 8 when you guys haste me or BOF!
But,as you can see, Bronin has low to hit bonuses and not much damage. It's sheer numbers and rend that make things mildly tough. Adder does FAR more damage and hit bonuses. I see his carnage and tip my hat that Eaun built a tank of a slayer.
More of an aside: You'd barely have been hit if Dicebot didn't toss in two crits. It either hates you, or it hates me, or it hates both of us!! Laughing.
@GM - Enjoy the vacation! Have a great time.

Bronin Dohari |

Sorry all! Please bot me. I am camping today (spent yesterday at water park) and most of tomorrow. Will be able to post Saturday evennig.

Bronin Dohari |

Awesome description GM! You got exactly what Bronin would do.
I'll post later today and roll my needed saves, plus move into combat and roleplay.

Wren the FeatherMage |

I don't think Wren has a good solution for Lena. She goes before Wren and can't heal for shit. Maybe Elena has a solution?
The best Wren can offer is False Life, and not sure that would help. Would it?

![]() |

it might. It would need to add 7 or more hits. The problem is that Lena is already below negative 12 and so is (technically) dead. The only effect that can help is a raise dead spell, or breath of life. It would depend on DM fiat. If the unholy blight was first, the Lena is on -1 and dying. If the choke spell was first, she is dead. If the first case, the false life would wake Lena up.

well that's a relief

There was a check for it here. I don't know that Wren actually attempted the check to identify it before casting her spell, to be honest.

Hey guys, sorry to have disappeared for a bit. I ended up in the ER Thursday morning. I got back from hospital that night and had exactly 14 hours to recover before headed to lake with family this weekend (no rest for the wicked, not even the extremely wicked). I will be trying to update games, but posting will likely remain slow until Monday.
