Posting later tonight, when the inmates have left the madhouse...
GM Rat Sass |
The week is proving formidable in ways I wasn't expecting. For all the sloppy posts I've been slapping down as a PC, I really don't want to flub anything here, so I ask your patience, as I look for a pocket of time where I can flesh out the details properly...

Thank you all for your patience. As is probably apparent already, I have to step away from this game. It was truly a joy to get to play with each of you. I know you all will kick worm ass over the rest of the campaign.
Ratsass, thank you for providing such a great game, and for your understanding as I came to terms with needing to leave.

Second Report
Pharast 19, 4979 (Fireday)
-The group decides to visit Allustan, resident scholar and shut-in, while Mortimer visits with Lazare and Osgood first, before meeting up with them at Allustan’s home.
-Various items and drawings are left in Allustan’s care, for further research.
-Everyone decides to enjoy the rest of the night in various personal pursuits.
-Later in the evening, you are all ‘invited’ to the Sheriff’s office by Deputy Jamis and his men, where you are made to wait well past the midnight’s hour.
Pharast 20, 4979 (Starday)
-Finally, you meet with Balabar Smenk, prominent mine manager of Diamond Lake. Lucky you.
-You are petitioned for help against a cult, working deep in the belly of the Dourstone Mine.
-Upon agreeing to help, you are released from your prison cells to finish your night’s sleep.
-Brunch at the Hungry Gar! The Mine can wait, and the group travels back to the Whispering Cairn for some unfinished business. Based on new tracks, it seems you aren’t the only ones who know of its location...
-A descent into the air column reveals a couple of almost missed magic items.
-A descent into the Yellow Lantern shaft, and you’re greeted by a very hungry vargouille.
-The split party suffers several agonizing moments, finally uniting at the bottom.
-A combined effort to neutralize a stony-plated trap, you enter the end room, where you encounter a pillowy air bed, brown mold, and a pure orange-paste basin, and several items.
-Climbing over the brown mold, you encounter a strange earth elemental, Artfanx, hibernating, until Tynan wakes him. You find out how hard it is to talk to rocks, so the decision to leave him behind for now is reached.
-A plan is hatched, a potion is purchased, and metal is measured.
-A little repast at the Hungry Gar, the second time this day.
-The Assault on the Dourstone Dwarves begins the evening, as Tynan’s threats fall on deaf ears, leaving the others to enter the Mine unnoticed. Eventually, all enter the Dourstone Mine, where Ascaria enlists the help of the last guard to enter the forbidden fork in the mine.
-The elevator facilitates a rather deep descent to the Dark Pool Chamber below, and the party begins its investigation of the three branches of the Ebon Triad-Asmodeus, Lamashtu, and Urgathoa.
-The Assault on the Asmodeans starts you off. Skeletons, and Cultists, and Tieflings, oh my.
-Mortimer unsuccessfully challenges a tiefling to a duel, going so far as to try and heal him.
-The Battle Hall is reached, and shooting fish in a barrel commences. The party meets Kendra, Garras, and Thedrick. Garras is slain.
-The grand statue to Asmodeus is desecrated, allowing a ramp from the killing floor. Thedrick is embraced, then slain.
-The Hall is searched, but Kendra is nowhere to be found.
-A leather-bound journal is found, as well as several possessions of note. A couple of undecipherable scrolls are also found.
-As you fought to get in, you fight to get out, leaving a boar behind you to die of hunger…
-An initial foray past the western Stone Door proves deadly, as several morlocks nearly end the expedition before it’s begun. The party retreats to the central chamber to lick its wounds.
-The Assault on Black Feathers begins, as the investigation begins behind the North Door.
-Flocks of feathered men and mated weasels later, the party finds their way into the Inner Sanctum, where allip and pillars of madness await. A much needed retreat from the apparition, and the discovery of a potent ring, and the party returns! Much web and fire. Several acolytes fall to your ‘mercy’, as does the allip, which fails to touch you even once...
-You find the Faceless One, who does his best to burn you, by sphere and by lightning, and yet it isn’t enough. An acolyte and summoned ape fall. Another embrace, and the Faceless On faces Solrisa’s ‘mercy’, and the giant reels in its innards as it erupts in Mortimer’s arms.
-You find a cipher, which reveals the writings found in the Hall of Asmodeus, among other things.
-The search for Kendra proves out her wily nature, as the group returns to the Dark Pool chamber, where they are greeted by the Ebon Aspect, newly risen from the central pool. Almost by divine intervention, you overcome its infant form.
-Another bout of rest, and the Stone Door is breached a second time. This time, you see it through, savaging several pale-skinned savages, and one rather brutish morlock chieftain, who puts you all to shame for his battle prowess. Sadly, you slay him in outnumbered combat.
-You discover what must be Grallak Kur, lying dead in his private chambers.
-Gathering all items, you return to the surface, where Rae says her goodbyes, and the party members return to Diamond Lake.
So ends Book 2 of the Age of Worms Adventure Path :)

Lareg, I look forward to RPing with you. From what I've seen in Legacy, I'll be playing catch up to you. I'm glad you're here.

For future reference, if you decide to pick something up, be it loot on a dead perp, or an item in an abandoned mine, please note it actionably in a post IC.
You will note that I generally summarize findings under a spoiler titled 'Spoils'. I assume that you gather all items under this spoiler. Noting something on your character sheet, with no clear game reference, is not enough, nor is posting to the treasure sheet.
I will not ask if you leave something behind, seeking an answer that highlights something more than I already have.

Busy day- I expect to update later this afternoon. Thank you for your patience.
GM Rat Sass |
Slow posting through the weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
GM Rat Sass |
Crazy start to the beginning of the week. It's normalizing now, so we should be a little zippier for the rest of the week...
GM Rat Sass |
More morass, should be able to update tonight, thank you for your patience.
GM Rat Sass |
Aaaaaaand, we're back. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas activities/get-togethers/festivities. I'm no longer a kite in the wind, as it were, so I'll try and be more aggressively present to update, and push us along through the weekend. Thursday and Friday are unshackled for me(days off), so I invite you to check in a little more frequently, if you have the time.
Kobold Catgirl |
It is nuts how little you guys use the Discussion thread, you know. I like to keep an eye on other Age of Worms threads, to see how they run things differently, and it still boggles my mind that there's so little here in comparison to how much there is in Gameplay. I figure it's because you guys "crewed up" elsewhere, but it's still weird to see.
Have fun in Blackwall Keep!
GM Rat Sass |
Hey KC! I can see your take on it :) Google Chat gets a lot of things done. Direct texts, and daily interactions, and I'm pretty stoked to have the fun sidebars with my players!
GM Rat Sass |
The morningstars they both wield are metal-based. Also keep in mind that they're 5' above the floor, so I believe any attempt at flank doesn't work on the aerial Ariels...
GM Rat Sass |
Chicago weekend, last bit of Continuing Education. Should be able to update tonight.
Feel free to continue a night's RP, then we'll move on.

Heading out of town tomorrow until middle of next week. May or may not have consistent Internet access. At the least I should have a chance to post if I have decent data access on my phone. Going to try out tethering up my computer.
