Because:

B: Everything is going to be orange until mid-Summer.
The lip of the basin proves to be the most obvious location to notice that the level of sludge does indeed continue to rise, then fall over the edge like molasses pouring in the dead of winter.
Seriously. No one makes this kind of stuff up.

Anyhoot, this totally proves Rae and Sol are twins.
Science.
Raella Grim |
Totally proves it. Totally.

We have 5,318gp to split after a few items get distributed and the rest sold. That gives us 886gp per person.
However, I suggest we buy a Wand of Cure Light Wounds with 50 charges, as a group, at a cost of 750gp - if we can find one.
That brings our total down to 4,568gp and a split of 761gp each.
If no one is opposed, that's what we'll do.

First Report
Pharast 17, 4749 (Wealday)
-The motley crew assembles in Lazare’s House at the owner’s request.
-A favor is called in, and a search begins for a missing girl.
-Searching in all corners of Diamond Lake, the group reconvenes with a new lead, Frederick.
-With a little encouragement, the young boy leads the search party outside of Diamond Lake.
-The party gets dragged into a wolf pack attack, and puts down the lot of them.
-Meghan is found! She indicates the source of her woes, coming from a doorway in the hillside.
-The worse for wear, the girl is brought home to the Midnight Salute. Purple Prose sends her regards.
-Lazare is informed, and the party is rewarded. A promise to return to the hillside is made.
-Through the rain, the search party finds the doorway, and enters the Whispering Cairn.
-The last of the wolves are exterminated, creating numerous useful carcasses.
-Clearing the way of cobwebs, the group enters the prismatic chamber, the false tomb.
-The sarcophagus rotates, and the floor shatters, bringing forth beetle swarm and mad slasher.
-In desperate retreat, Raella chooses poorly, rescuing a pair of wolf cubs from a grisly fate.
-Returning to Diamond Lake, the group disbands, then gathers once more at Lazare’s.
-A band of explorers encounters another band of explorers in passing- Khellek, Auric, and Tirra.
-The majority dines at the Hungry Gar, and strategizes for the next day’s return to the Cairn.
Pharast 18, 4749 (Oathday)
-The group returns to the Whispering Cairn. A missing Indigo Lantern is discovered.
-The Blue Lantern tunnel is searched, and several climb to the Wind Corridor, to no avail.
-The party descends into the Green Lantern tunnel’s shaft, encountering big and little beetle alike.
-The party finds a sleepy room, a slowly refilling basin of orange paste, and an underwater ghoul.
-A Red Lantern is found, and reunited with its brethren, bringing the Prismatic Chamber to light.
-The Yawn yields, declining to pummel with its winds. The iron sphere chamber is revealed.
-The trap is triggered, severed hands antagonize, and the ghost boy Alastor reveals himself.
-An innocent possession, a callous rejection, and Alastor beseechs help to inter his bones.
-The party encounters Feathers, and Feathers’ parent owlbear at the Land homestead.
-The Land family bones are found missing, so the gang returns to Diamond Lake to find the robbers.
-Feathers finds a father, as Mortimer leads the owlbear back to Diamond Lake, and to Faraday’s.
-Ascaria angers Kullen and Tynan reads the room at the Feral Dog, Solrisa talks iron at Osgood’s.
-Feathers is handed over to Lanch, and Tynan learns of Filge the necromancer.
Pharast 19, 4749 (Fireday)
-Feathers’ bounty is collected, and Lanch is threatened after selflessly setting pelts to cure.
-Goods are gathered and sold, and the group sets off once more for the Whispering Cairn.
-Alastor waits, unchanged, then changes violently as he is accused of reneging on a deal.
-Mortimer returns to the Land farmstead to rebury bones.
-The gang returns to the Feral Dog, and ‘negotiates’ with Todrik the pock-faced.
-Learning of Filge, the party heads to the Old Observatory, where a great purging commences.
-Filge reveals his connection with Diamond Lake, as guest of Balabar Smenk, before he is killed.
-A strange jar containing a segmented worm is discovered.
-A letter that speaks of unkillable zombies and cult activity deep within the Dourstone Mine is found.
-Reburying the Land Family bones, the gang returns to the Whispering Cairn.
-As promised, the door to the Air Chamber is opened, and the party studies the bas-reliefs beyond.
-Ceramic Knights arise, and the party survives the defense of the Air Chamber.
-Ascending into the True Tomb, Tynan and Ascaria crack the glyph code, and the sarcophagus opens.
-A diadem, pair of horns, and odd device are claimed from within the sarcophagus.
So ends Book 1 of the Age of Worms Adventure Path :)

Scampering up to Chicago for the day- will be slow in posting til tomorrow...

The lead up to Paizocon begins now, at least for me. Please GMPC as necessary, as I can't promise when or if I'll be able to post for the next week.

From our knowledge, it appears there are likely to be six dwarven guards at night. Do we know anything about how/where they are positioned when guarding the entrance? (Ascaria inked a drawing in a post, but I'm getting a "not authorized" message.)
GM Rat Sass |
Roll20 is set to show Ascaria's drawing. As for positioning, the party is currently bereft of such knowledge.

Just to be clear, we haven't had a payout or an accounting of recent? If we wanted to sell what little we have accumulated and account for it, how could I aid in that process? I recognize that the wizard might have some of the funner bits to sell, but did want to confirm my monies.
Ascaria |
Everyone please remember (or learn for the first time) that Smenk did in fact give us 60gp each when we were in prison.
It wasn't clear to me that he actually gave us the cash, but apparently he did according to our GM. Also, please remove 50gp from your treasure to help pay for the potion of invisibility Ascaria is buying. I'd rather not shoulder that burden all on my own. :)
So net gain +10gp. More will come later as we meet with Allustan (Moonday - two days from now) and sell a few things. But we're a little tight until then.

Ah, the game has paused on post 2020. Do not think this gracious tribute to your GM has gone unnoticed... aw, you guys...
GM Rat Sass |
Regarding the Breach of the Cultist Door, from now on, I'll structure readied actions around the opening of such doors based on a Surprise Round Initiative, where the Door Opener begins the round, standard actions only, by opening the door as his/her sole action. Based on awareness, both sides will likely act, but will be delayed relative to the Door Opener. That being said, if you don't care to wait for the door opening, you need not delay :)
Further clarification- speaking as Free Action, in my view, can be done at any time. Being Flat-Footed does not prevent one from reacting to unfolding events in speech, in spite of being unable to react physically. In the most recent case, Mort's reaction to Raella's massive strike is perfectly acceptable, in spite of Mort's position in Initiative.
"In general, speaking is a free action that you can perform even when it isn't your turn. Speaking more than a few sentences is generally beyond the limit of a free action."
Raella Grim |
Sorry all. I'm probably not going to be able to post during the day for the rest of the week. Please NPC as necessary.
GM Rat Sass |
Since the map can sometimes glitch, and most times act as real-time positioning, I'm up for suggestions when we need to be more clear about where folks are on the map. I do my best not to move tokens unless asked to do so (i.e. phone posting).
Case-in-point, yesterday, I saw quite a bit of Tynan activity, as he headed down the hall, then back to the priest's living quarters. From your responses, most of you were unaware of those movements on the map, and checking in at the end of the day, it can look like no one has moved.
I might consider 'placeholder' tokens that you can use to indicate before and after positioning, if you think that would help. Let me know your thoughts.
GM Rat Sass |
The craziness of Lollapalooza 2015 has descended like drug-induced haze over here in Illinois. I will be largely off-grid in downtown Chitown, losing hearing to Paul McCartney and Metallica. I might not update as frequently as I'd like...
