Sorry, my bad. Not sure how I got that wrong. I was a bit sleep deprived when I posted - thought I was fine, but apparently not.

Arruk Karras |

Congrats to your partner, and good luck prepping for their absence!
Busy today, will be around tomorrow.

Arruk Karras |

New facility orientation here and I'm busy next couple of days. I'll be back Thursday.

Arruk Karras |

Going out of town for the long holiday weekend. I'll be back on Monday.
If needed for botting purposes, Doc will shoot the baddie with his pepperbox (holy water + regular damage), then engage in melee. If the melee isn't working (incorporeal, DR, etc.), he's got some holy water vials to use (assuming that this Brother Swarm is undead).

Arruk Karras |

Busy day today, I'll be back tomorrow.
Also, I'm leaving town from 9/21 - 10/3 and will not have internet availability during this time.

Arruk Karras |

Since I'll be out of the country, if I'm not able to post, this is doc's general plan of action for the fight.
Stay in melee range at 10' if possible. Claw/claw/bite. If his claws and bites seem ineffective, he'll switch to bombs.
Here's his current conditions and attacks/damage:
bull's strength, enlarge person, shield. AC 18, Str 24, Dex 12.
Attacks:
Pepperbox + 4 damage 2d6 (his pepperbox is dropped and currently laying on the ground to the east of Aduard),
claws +10 damage 1d6+7,
bite +10 damage 2d6+7
bombs +5 damage 2d6+3 Note: bombs target touch attack, but doc does not have the precise shot feat, so he'll suffer a -4 penalty to fire into melee. He has the precise bombs discovery so allies won't take damage from his bombs.

Arruk Karras |

OK, I'm back in the states. I'll get caught up today/tomorrow.

Aduard Bookman |

Yow!
Swarms normally do Distraction, with a save against nauseated. Aduard has the constitution of a... uh... wizard I guess, and is therefore unlikely to make a save.
Does this swarm possess that ability? It'll make a big change to his turn.

Radag Irefist |

Sorry everyone, I'm struggling to find the time and energy to keep up on posting with my schedule at the moment. If I'm slowing things down and everyone is waiting on me, please bot my character.
I'm trying to get back on track but flu season has hit hard, and I'm trying to hold down the forts.

Arruk Karras |

Hope TD is doing OK.
5th level, sweet!
@ GM: How are we doing hp again? 1/2 hd?
Question for the group - I'm thinking about either taking another level in alchemist and treating my combat strategy as similar to now (skirmish with gun at beginning, then mix up in melee) or going with one level of fighter an additional minimum feat necessary for dedicated ranged combat (PBS and precise shot).
I was hoping that by targeting touch AC I could get away with not going down the ranged feat line, but I'm not sure that it will be enough. Investing in the ranged feat line probably means more investment in that line later (rapid reload, rapid shot, probably multishot later).
I will probably pick up some bomb-related discoveries focused on debuffing or alternate damage types more often than not, so ranged feats would pay off there too in that the debuffs will land more often.
If I went alchy I'd probably spend my 5th level feat on an extra discovery, using the gun and bombs sparingly.
There's also the nature of this AP. We've fought a lot of incorporeal foes and haunts so far, so touch attack seems less viable than it would be in other campaigns. So maybe it is better to focus melee and keep my skirmisher build as is, only using range when I need to close distance or for dealing with debuffing/swarms?
Pro of taking a level of fighter: effective +4 or +5 to hit with gun and bombs, lots of new class skills, extra feat
Con: delayed spell progression, bombs

Aduard Bookman |

Woo-hoo, 3rd level spells! Assuming, y'know, he lives...
@Karras: Pathfinder is harsh on multiclassing - on the other hand the occasional dip can be worth it for the skills. Go with what you feel is fun, I feel.
I'm thinking Aduard might need to keep a spell vs Incorporeal in reserve from now on - unless Esta wants to pick it up? A couple of decent scrolls might save our bacon next time.

Arruk Karras |

OK, sounds good on the incorporeal foes!
Level up:
Alchemist (Grenadier) 5
+7 hp
Extracts per day: +1/+1
Extracts known: +cat's grace
Bomb +1d6
Skills (8): craft (alchemy), disable device, knowledge religion, planes, dungeoneering, perception +8, spellcraft +11
Feat: point blank shot

Aduard Bookman |

@GM ROBOGEISHA. If Aduard takes the Feral Speech discovery and can talk to animals, does he use normal social skills? I feel like Animal Ken is more for when you can't tell someone exactly what you want, but if you want it for game balance reasons then I should definitely pick it up at the same time.
Also; if you don't want him to have Feral Speech, feel free to say so. I love it as a Gandalf like ability.

Esta Vyrelian |

Level up:
HP: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2. Oof. So a 4, then? We're taking the average if you roll below, right?
Feat: Extra Hex—Fortune
3rd level spell: Heroism
Putting my FCB into Perception.

Feral Speech would require social skills—it's like talking to people. As for Animal Ken, I can't find that Archives of Nethys?

Aduard Bookman |

Wizard (Spell Sage) 5
+5 hp (d6 avg +1 favoured class)
Spells per day: +2 3rd (+1 base, +1 from int)
Spells Known: xx, yy
Skills (7): Spellcraft x2, diplomacy x1, bluff x1, knowledge (religion) x2, Linguistics x1 (Druidic)
Feats: Feral Speech (Arcane Discovery), Yuelral's Blessing (Arcane Discovery)

GM R0B0GEISHA |

Hey all!
Since Radag's on a semi-hiatus and we're through the holidays, I figured it's time to try and fire this game back up. I have a friend that wants to get into PbP. He's an experienced role-player and the only man I know brave enough to do accents at the table. I was considering inviting him to this game.
Any objections?
(I spoke to him about concepts and he's leaning towards an aging paladin of Erastil, pending an invite.)

Edison Wyatt |

Hello friends looking forward to it!

Arruk Karras |

Hi Edison, nice to meet you! I'm looking forward to playing with you.

Aduard Bookman |

@GM R0B0GEISHA great description. Took me a while to 'get' the music, and for some reason it moved me to a sneaking headspace. Hope that was what you were going for.
Tanta stultitia mortalium est - Such is the foolishness of mortals.
Not sure what the language equivalent is. Draconic I guess?
I hope we see @Edison soon, that last fight nearly killed Aduard...

Arruk Karras |

Sorry for the short post - your awesome description deserves a better reaction, GM! Work is giving me a kicking, be back tomorrow!
To me, the music sounds like bees.

Arruk Karras |

My spouse got seated on a jury so I'm doing child care and trying to hit a couple of deadlines at work, without having the time to do it. Posting may be spotty into early next week.

Arruk Karras |

OK, back. Waiting to hear Ellsa's response before responding in gameplay.
Regarding Swarm, what do you all think we should do? Doc can try and blow up the Swarm with a bomb, but perhaps we should just split?

Okay, full disclosure time. I know that this game has been dragging lately. I never meant for it to happen, but it did. To be honest, I'm realizing that play-by-posts were always something for me to do at work and in the last six months, I've been working differently than before.
Less time at the computer, more time up and being active on the job means that I've been lax in my responsibilities to my games. When I get home, my mind switches gears from "work stuff" which includes PbP in my downtime to "home stuff" like watching TV, playing video games, or doing prep work for my various irl tabletop games. Now that I'm home all the quarantime, I'm working to change my associations to make PbP more of a priority.
On top of that, my motivation was impacted by writing myself into a corner with completely overhauling the Hergstag encounters (imagine if every single kid were an incorporeal wraithspawn shudder) and the loss of ToxicDragon. It was important for me to move past those two things quickly in the interest of getting the game back in motion, so I hope you can excuse the suddenness of the scene change.
I'd also like to officially welcome Anonymous Visitor 946 to the game. I know he's taken the time to skim the gameplay thread in its entirety, but would anybody find a recap helpful? I could cover the major plot points and NPCs so far.
Either way, thanks for sticking with me and let's get this show back on the road!

Apologies for Aduard, Edison. He's a somewhat abrasive personality when stressed.
@GM ROBOGEISHA: A recap would be wonderful, if you are so inclined. I totally understand the situation - I've had a similar issue myself. I'm delighted that you're keen to keep going, as I think this a great game :)

Edison Wyatt |

Before we depart for the asylum, Edison wants to do his best to refuel any lost gear, and he has some small funds to get there. What potions need replacing?

Aduard Bookman |

Group funds
So: as I recall we didn't find anything valuable in Herstag (fair, given we pretty much ran).
The loot sheet Radag maintained doesn't have people for the things we found there, but I think that in fact they were handed out - except for the coins?
Getting some standard gear sounds like a plan. Given time Aduard can scribe, and the Doctor can brew, but we don't have time. Even a few simple items like holy water and a few potions would make a difference.
Things to deal with
Is the doctor still poisoned from before? I don't think so, but if he is we should definitely get that fixed.
Since then we've all been poisoned by bees. I think fixing that should be a priority, especially if we can hire a cleric to do some lesser restorations rather than pay for potions. In theory I believe it is 60gp/pop in a normal market. Expensive - and if people have spare slots to use tonight instead it would be better. I thought I would've... Hang on gosh dang it. I'm waiting to level Aduard until he sleeps and can rememorise, but technically he's level 5 now. That means he'll get 2 shiny level 3 slots. He's still got Spell Study, so he can burn them for a single level 1-3 spell. Lesser Restoration is level 2.
Alternatively if he can get his hands on a 100gp silk pillow he can cast Nap Stack, and we can all get a couple days recovery tonight.
@GM ROBOGEISHA: do either of these sound reasonable? If so I'll put something about it in gameplay if that is okay?
Personal
Personally Aduard should have at least 1832gp a potion of cmw, a haunt siphon and a sunrod. He was going to hire a secretary, but I don't think one ever showed up.
He is consistently taking damage - something he is not much fond of. He was saving up to Reincarnate Brogol - that means 1000gp are 'spoken for'. Sadly that is more waiting for level 7 when he finally reaches a level he can 'recall' the spell.
That leaves 832gp that can be spent on things.
25gp - Vermin Repellent x5. Aduard is a convert.
25gp - holy water
He'd be happy to kick in for a wand of cure light wounds, if it isn't going to ruin the game to have one to hand.

Edison Wyatt |

Edison does have 1 casting of Lesser Restoration for tonight, and will have another in the morning, both of which he's willing to us.
Edison will pick up:
2 Holy Waters - 50gp
1 Lesser Restoration Potion - 300
2 Cure Light Potions - 100
Totaling: 450gp
If that's kosher.
Ready to roll the dice for the 2 Lesser Restorations I can do before the trial. Raise your hand if you need it!
