Lol! We actually work there; that is why...hahaha!
Should have known Starbucks wouldn't allow them in! Funny thing; we had a Starbucks open up in the same Shopping Plaza as we are!

This is how Starbucks feels in Seattle
I do sometimes miss Timmy Hos, went there sometimes during my days in Maine.

Im sure theres lots to plan, so im being patient. Have fun, looks gorge-ous. Its still winter here, no camping yet :(

Hmm. Our illustrious GM seems to spend an inordinate amount of time in the rain forest of the Olympic Peninsula. You know who else does that? Sparkly Vampires!
Is there something you want to tell us GM Parrot, if that's your real name?
GM Parrot |
Last weekend, we did stop at a coffee shop that had a pretty solid Twilight theme going. Cardboard cutouts. A big "treaty line" sign (no vampires beyond this point). Of course, right now the Quileute Reservation is closed to all outsiders, vamps or no, because of the pandemic.
This weekend, we found a concrete pathway extending partway over a deep river canyon with Narnian lightpoles right by a drop into the abyss: my traveling companion on the brink.
I have some job applications to fill out today, but I am hopeful that I'll be able to start the encounter, too! If not, then tomorrow.

What an amazing picture! So cool.
Ten years ago or so, our niece came out from Florida to visit. She was a huge Twilight fan at the time. We took her over to Forks and the surrounding area and it was a huge thrill for her. The timing was good too. It was a time when the economy over there was otherwise under a lot of pressure, and the tourism seemed to give them a boost.
Good luck on the continued job hunt!

I feel like trying to find a Ranger in the woods won't be quick and easy!
Nether will finding an Invisible Wizard that has poopy robes!
That leaves Footman....or the Hob Fort?
Bedlam will head to within 80' of the Walls. He has only 1 Invisibility Extract. He plans to take it to make it inside the walls.

Congrats on finishing law school, Terapin! I'm ratting you out as now certifiably Lawful only because I think the Good people of this game would like to congratulate you, too. And I'm doing it here because I'm not sure you check the Discussion thread... May the rules always bend in your favor.
That's amazing great news! Congratulations! It is awesome to get good news in this day!!!

I'm glad you had a great trip! I haven't been to Chelan, but I've always heard it in association with power water sports. I'll have to keep that in mind when I get fit enough for some good hikes.

We got some camping in this weekend as well. It helps that we live 10 minutes from santa fe national forest!
GM Parrot |
@Trag, plus some basic info for interested fellow adventurers: as you probably know but the more distant gamers may not, the only way to get to the north side of Lake Chelan is by ferry. We got dropped off 18 miles downlake and then hiked to the isolated town of Stehekin (no roads to the outside world, only accessible by boat!), spending one night at Moore Point. The first 11 mile day was very intense--sunny and exposed up-and-down-and-up hiking through a forest that burned twenty years ago. Rattlesnakes. Other hikers saw bears. Moore Point, though, was an awesome campsite. We set up on the beach. The next day was easier. We camped right in Stehekin, which is a delightful and weird little town. There's a hotel/restaurant that served us some very welcome burgers after a couple days in the woods, but the real gems are the semi-famous bakery, which (as a former bakery worker) is legit, and "The Garden" where a weatherbeaten elderly barefoot elfin hippie farmer guy sells his honey, veggies, fresh goat cheese, and photographs. And gives life advice for free.
I think there's great potential for a trip that starts at Stehekin and then either heads into the North Cascades National Park (once over the hills and inside the park, the Stehekin River Valley is super easy hiking and very beautiful--last summer I approached it from the other side by hiking over Cascade Pass).
An even easier plan would just radiate out from Stehekin in a new day hike each day (this method would allow a party to sample every pastry at the bakery by the end of the trip). I bet it's hot as the blazes in late summer, though. It'd take some logistical doing, as it looks like ferry seats and campsite reservations are getting snapped up for the season, but I'm thinking of trying this version with my dad sometime. He's got a back injury, so it'd be nice to have more access to civilization. Of course, I'd have to get him out to the west coast first.
And yeah, there were some booming powerful boats on the water, the kind that zip along tipped back on their butts. Not my flavor.
@Anz: I live about an hour from the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, so I can't complain--but 10 mins is awesome!
Aurora Fallowarc |
That sounds like quite the place to visit!

Thinking we allow the surrender, paying homage to OUR dragon, and drawing up the Fort's new purpose of defending the Island against any incursion!
Are the Humans still running through the woods back to their Fort? I say we go there almost immediately and raze it!
Unfortunately, Bedlam doesn't have anything for dead barbarians! Sorry Lolly!

I'm glad that rabbit hole is behind a paywall or else I'd probably be spending way too much time reading about a world I'll never play in.
Anzath |
I remember the Brand/Lolly combo. I think that was immediately after Anzath joined up.
Having this many aerial combatants at lvl 7 is insane.
Tragershen |
I literally fronted for a demon in a holy temple in front of paladins, and I only rank a distance third in the Agent-of-Chaos ranking in our little group. Well done, Bedlam and Lolly!
GM Parrot |
I know Bedlam's been playing second edition pathfinder. Any of the rest of you? I am grudgingly thinking it might be time for me to learn the new system. Is it good?
I don't think I'd convert this game to a new edition under many circumstances--I am sorta thinking about starting another game. Not sure I have the time, but I've got an idea for a game that could be pretty fun.
Tragershen |
Depending on how this goes, this may be the right time for our sudden-but-inevitable betrayal of the dragon. Let's see how much these guys can hurt him before this is all over.
I glanced at 2e, and it really didn't click for me. I have been getting into D&D 5e, and I have been enjoying it. Both of my grandsons have been playing and like it very much. I feel that they did capture many of the good vibes from the older versions and eliminated a lot of the problems.
Bedlam Bottomland |
I am currently in 4 PF2e games. I am running one of those. That particular game is here on the boards.
Two of them; we are 13th level (Extinctions Curse and Age of Ashes). I enjoy the system's differences from PF1e. The numbers are really tight on the PC end; the numbers for Creatures at level are not. You will get hit often, but that is mitigated by Healing that can keep up; along with having more options.
I am playing the Healer in AoA. It is extremely satisfying to see the DM bang us around a bit, then undo it on my turn...lol.
I actually peeked at 5e. It has similar elements.

I just got lost on the Boards.
This Thread has a myriad of opinions on PF2e. I just read all of them!
I may need a hobby....
Anzath |
You have a hobby.
I’d be interested in playing in a 2e game. I skimmed the core rule book when it first came out, and I listen to the Glass Cannon Network podcasts and they’ve been playing more and more 2e. It sounds more streamlined to me. 1e will probably be my favorite for a while until 2e can catch up to the glorious myriad of customization that Pathfinder offers. But I’d love to learn.
I think wielding the sword of Saracek and riding the back of a red dragon into battle are tugging at Anzath’s alignment.
GM Parrot |
Just tugging?
Won't force an alignment change on a neutral character, but I will say that I'm really hoping Talathel comes back someday.
I'll keep thinking about the new campaign and the new ruleset. Maybe I'll see what my prospective players want to do. Maybe I'll decide that I need the mental exercise of learning a new system.

The tugging of alignments between companions always makes me think of this comic. :)

That's a good call. The best call, really, I think. Your target audience is the most important criteria. Are they new to all of these gaming systems? Are they grizzled RPG veterans? A mixed group? I love Pathfinder 1E and GURPS, but neither is for the feint of heart. If the group is all new, do you want to learn a new system at the same time they are? If you and the players are going to do a system new to all of you, you might want to think about a Beginner Box set (both Pathfinder 2E and D&D 5E have them). They are even more simplified versions to the ruleset to help everyone learn. Just a few thoughts for you to consider. :)
