Hey y'all! The pbp game I'm (still) running, and parrot is playing in, is down a player. I want to open it up to peeps I'm familiar with before recruiting from the general public.
The game is a homebrew adventure set in the Verduran Forest Prefecture of Taldor in Golarion. The campaign thread is here.
The party is short on divine magic. If you ask me, a Cleric or Oracle of Shaelyn would probably be the easiest to write in at this juncture. A Druid or Shaman would also be applicable. Party is currently 3rd Level (very nearly 4th, but don't tell Parrot).
If you're interested, please let me know!

It's a good game, folks! We've got a bard (me), a swash-flavored ranger/wizard, an occultist, and a hulking cavalier.
Your positive energy appreciated. Ability to cast Lesser Restoration would be great: our dear Anz loves poisons, illnesses, and ability damage in general. Should have never encouraged my DM to shift alignment to Evil.

I would absolutely love to be in that game with you guys, but, I am finding my desire to play PF1e wanning, as my love for PF2e grows....

How often do you guys usually post? I can vouch for my own interest but not necessarily my promptness.

It’s a slower game, about a post a week give or take. Sometimes it can pick up.
If you can build a PC by Monday, I’m hoping to get all submissions in by then. I’ve got 4 others with submissions right now.

Ooh, that is my very favorite kind of homework. Healer type, yeah? Would you be amenable to a Divine Herbalist? (And, where should I submit it?)

I love the sound of a divine herbalist oracle. You can PM me the build.

Every time I use this wand, I feel like the shooter on the left in this scene.
I forgot about this glorious movie. I'm going to clip the first four seconds and overuse it.

Hey Terapin. Next time we go to civilization, I might have a relatively cheap answer to your communications problem.
I can craft an item that gives you a competence bonus in Linguistics. For each rank it effectively gives you, it would give you a language.
The cost would be:
+1 linguistics = 1*1*100 = 100 gp, so 50 gp to craft.
+2 linguistics = 2*2*100 = 400 gp, so 200 gp to craft.
+5 linguistics = 5*5*100 = 2500 gp, so 1250 gp to craft.
+5 could give you celestial and the four languages of the elementals.
The costs above assume they use a slot. I'd say maybe head, like a little circlet or skullcap? Double the cost to make it slotless.
GM Parrot
DM says: those prices are a little light to my eyes. Does getting a +1 rank from an item teach you a whole language? If so, why not just craft three of the +1 items and swap them out? But such an item would make linguistics obsolete for 100 gold per language. As a slight curb, I might require your item to function like a headband of intelligence: you have to wear it for 24 hours to get the skill rank(s). That would keep someone from pocketing a bunch of these gizmos and swapping between them. Might also require a slightly higher price. And I think it'd be fair to require the language to be known by the creator or co-crafter.
In my research I found this: Traveler's Translator .
It's also pretty darn cheap, to my eye, and my characters henceforth will always buy one (Funds permitting, Moira's going shopping, Anz! And it's ok if there isn't one for sale...). But it's too slow for a summoner.
On the other hand, this one looks too expensive for what you get: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/r-z/tablet-of-languages -lost/] Tablet of Languages Lost.

The thing with Trag's idea, a competence bonus does not equal skill ranks, so no additional languages learned.

Ah, I see my error. I was basing my idea off of this
Yes. For example, if your Int is 13 and you reach level 4 and apply your ability score increase to Int, this increases your Int bonus from +1 to +2, which grants you another bonus language.
Technically, Int-enhancing items such as a headband of vast intelligence should grant a specific language (in the same way they do for skill ranks).
But the language you're getting is from an enhanced intelligence. But competence isn't the same as ranks granted. Oh well.
Anzath
It's not a terrible idea to boost Linguistics, even if you don't gain a language learned. The skill can help to interpret other languages, to 'get the gist' of what people are saying. Maybe requiring a Linguistics check to communicate commands to summoned creatures is reasonable.

Hmmm....seems his author may have been a bit vague about exactly being placed in center of chamber.
I blame Peta. Not the animal people but the flat bread. I don't get it. Like why not make your bread flat? Sometimes I even wonder if Parrot reads all my nonsensical ramblings?
What? Is he listening? Ok. So we are saying Beds was already there. Good idea. I wasn't even considering it but since the table put it forth, whom am I to disagree (Eurythmics).
Sweet Dreams are made of these!

Someone here is being a PITA... ;)
Sweet dreams of gonna fight 'em all... seven ogre army couldn't hold him back...

I broke both of my ankles this morning. We are visiting family on vacation. We were preparing to leave for home but that has since been delayed for some time now.
I do not have access to a computer. I am only able to use my phone for the foreseeable future.
Thank you.

We are visiting my parents in Florida. Last Friday we were 1/2 hour from driving back to Michigan when I went up into garage attic to look for a cat cage.
Having full ranks in perception, but an extremely low Wisdom score, I thought that I spotted (old school term) the thus far elusive cat cage!
Filled with budding confidence, I stride (new school term) toward the cagey cat cage!
And then I was suddenly falling! There is apparently a 2nd access hatch (to which I was most unaware) that was only covered by a one inch thick floor mat.
It failed at any thought of bearing my weight. I fell! 12 feet back down to the nicely 1 cm thick rug that gratefully covered the extremely unforgiving cement floor.
Spoiler alert! That particular thickness of material does not quite help. I know right!
So, now my wife and I are now moving to Florida.
Yup that happened.
Both ankles need 2 screws in them to be able to heal properly. The Hospital system here is willing to cover all hospital costs ($30,000), but we need to cover the actual cost of orthopedic surgeon.
Working is out for the foreseeable future.
On the bright side, I have more time to bother Parrot!
Terapin
Eeeesh. I wondered if you rode a motorcycle or something; a literal pit trap was not on my list of predictions. Glad you managed to sequester the damage from a 12 foot fall onto stone at the opposite end as your brain, though, at least. But damn.

My weekly AoA home group started burning me as soon as I told them in discord chat!
Been getting some good ones all week! Little do they know I am planning some hijinks tonight!
I play our Healer...lol.

Apologize to the table. I am finding it increasingly more difficult to keep current with my games. Having only my phone to post with is really a drag. I am in process of re-procurring my computer once my wife returns from home.
This accident has really disrupted my daily life and nothing is simple or easy these days.
I say all this just to ask for your patience during this time. I am NOT dropping any of my games. I enjoy every one of them. I enjoy all my fellow players and DMs.
Thank you all for allowing me this platform for gaming!
Now if only I could find a Cleric around here....

Apparently, it is International Game Master's Day. So big thanks to Parrot for keeping the dice rolling and running this mega dungeon for us. You are hereby appreciated!
GM Parrot
The game is slowing down a bit, but these wandering monster checks are important for the whole experience of Rappan Athuk. It wears you out before it does you in. Still feeling the authentic grind, everyone?
Eventually Rappan Athuk (and PF1e) bogs down under its own weight, and we might be reaching the end of what I can run while being entertaining and rules accurate. But if it's still fun for the party, we can keep going! There's a TON of book left, and it holds encounters that are supposed to be challenging for a party of six at level 20...
If not, I have an alternative in mind that would rather shake things up.
Not to spoil too much, but you're not too far from a major encounter. We could all rally after the rust monsters die. I could nudge you towards the big one.
We could get back to mostly daily posting for the big boss fight.
Then, we can call that the end of a major chapter of the campaign. Victory would mean you won! And defeat would mean the sort of Valhalla that only a famous megadungeon can offer a beloved player character.
The next chapter could involve something really different--new characters (The Ferry and the Depths: the Next Generation?), new players (if anyone wants to retire for a while or forever), maybe even new rules or a new setting.
What do you think?
Bedlam Bottomland
For myself I absolutely enjoy this game. I apologize if my posts are a bit short. I am still dealing with the ankles situation.
I definitely enjoy playing Bedlam. And the latitude granted me by both DM and players!
I would be open to a new campaign if Parrot needs to reload and re charge also.
(I tend to wear out my DMs).
As far as systems goes: I would be open to PF1e or PF2e.
That's all for now.
Bedlam wouldn't mind trying to die...again...lol.
Anzath
I'm very happy to keep this game going as long as possible.
Tragershen
I am glad to continue on with the status quo, but I understand if we're reaching the limit as to what you're comfortable/enjoying running. I mean, I have plans for Trag up to level 20, but I know its a lot easier as a player than a GM in PF1.
I like your storytelling, GM. And I like the players and characters. But if you want to start running something different, I'd be game too. My interests are running more towards 53 than PF2e, but I'd be willing to see what you decide.

I mean I still like this one, but also I just got here compared with everyone else, so my opinion should be weighed very lightly if at all.
But also, the GM needs to be having fun, and if there's bog-down on the GM end that I'm just not seeing on the player side that make it harder to enjoy, I'm in favor of any change-up that makes it entertaining for everybody involved.
