Oh, somehow the gameplay thread wasn’t updating for me until now. I’ve got some reading to do!

Oh, and I DO know posole! It’s a staple dish here in New Mexico. Basically green chile hominy corn stew, traditionally cooked with pork tripe, but we make it vegan in our home.

Which… gives the situation some troubling implications, but, I’ll read on…


Yep, that was in-character "you haven't heard of it," not ooc! I haven't had it in its most traditional form, which is certainly not vegan... but I have enjoyed pork and veggie versions.

I also wouldn't mind spending some downtime retraining Bedlam a bit?
Nothing drastic, just some narrowing of his combat effectiveness.

You can have some downtime whenever you're somewhere safe.

I WAS going to do the old "but you just leveled up!" thing and then I realized you've been level 8 since last fall. So this isn't "yes," but it is "maybe."

The game gets exponentially harder for me to run as you level up, but I want you to get the chance to get mighty. At some point, I might have to cry uncle and limit you to a level up every real-world Christmas or something. The highest I've ever gone was around level 12, at which point the campaign ground to a halt because everything was too complicated. The party had also just conquered a city and it seemed like a good time to retire.

I'm gonna pen out my response beforehand, so apologies if it takes a bit. [Ba-dum-ch]. Just to be clear, as a boon, Aragnak is offering me the chance to take the Dragon Disciple Prestige Class without qualifying for it? Or, otherwise choose one class feature from Dragon Disciple and continue on with my already planned build.

I'm thinking I'll go with the latter but I might play around with the former to see if I like it.


I initially figured I'd cite the Disciple class as a precedent for the loosey-goosey idea I have of giving you a choice of draconic boons, and then I figured I'd also just let you take the class without meeting prereqs if you'd like.

I'm wondering if I can entreat with the GM as an option this BLoodline Power from the Draconic Bloodline:

Dragon Resistances (Ex): At 3rd level, you gain resist 5 against your energy type and a +1 natural armor bonus. At 9th level, your energy resistance increases to 10 and natural armor bonus increases to +2. At 15th level, your natural armor bonus increases to +4.


If that is what you desire, I think it is a reasonable ask.

I am inclined to go with honest loyalty; with others clearly going for it, Trag isn't going to plot against the dragon solo. Also, it feels like he's going to go from a drain on their resources (treasure and time) to at least neutral, possibly advantageous. Eye on the prize: the head of Orcus.

This flight is an extraordinary ability. An alchemist must be at least 6th level before selecting this discovery.

Probably go with Burgundy colored scales and wings!


Sigh ok level 8 too. But everyone has to promise to be patient with me when I forget how class feature 9 interacts with feat 4 in the context of item 7 being used against monsters x, y, and z.

I'm considering Epic 6 rules for my next online campaign for just this reason.

But then, I'm the sort of person who insists that Skyrim is most fun when you play without ever leveling up.

My case for Skyrim without leveling:
No, seriously--the worst part of Skyrim is the way the whole world levels up with you. Yay, you're level 20 and have fancy glass weapons, well, so does everyone! Crank up the difficulty? Boring and artificial way to get more challenge. It's waaaay more fun to finally slay a deathlord while level 1 and then suddenly you're the only one on the continent with an ebony sword and yeah, it feels super special and you use it forever! Manage to take down a dragon priest? Wear that mask with pride! Find a glass arrow in a chest? Hoard it for when you're in waaay over your head, then pull it out and let it rip with a prayer--it feels super special. Get a staff that summons a dangerous monster? Celebrate, because life finally gets a little easier now. Between gear and the skill system, you get the fun of RPG advancement without the silliness of perks. And a sabrecat will still eat you in one pounce if you're not careful. But that's realistic! I've beaten Alduin as a level one character, and it felt waaay more epic than any other playthrough. The only problem is that I can't marry my favorite NPC because her quest unlocks at level 12...

And we can proactively help with that. For example, at 8th level, I get the divination school ability Foretell. When I use it, I can post the details of it. Maybe even link to it on an online prd. And when I use it, I'll probably use it to give allies a bonus (rather than give enemies a penalty) so that it is one less thing as a GM that you have to track.

Foretell:
(Su): At 8th level, you can utter a prediction of the immediate future. While your foretelling is in effect, you emit a 30-foot aura of fortune that aids your allies or hinders your enemies, as chosen by you at the time of prediction. @Trag I almost offered the Quicken rod myself, but I realized you won't be able to use it for a while with the +4 spell level requirement.

I kinda love staves and it'd be on theme to give you a fire staff, but the generic Staff of Fire is a little too lackluster. Let's see what I can cook up.

@Anz: you'll produce the egg with magical speed, but not instantaneously. Let's say... a month, like a komodo dragon? Part of the benefit of eggs, after all, is that they get out of your system and keep developing.
