This is the official recruitment thread for the Fifth Online Play by Post Gameday. We will be playing Scenario #7–19: Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts, which is designed for levels 3-7. Play will begin on the halfway point of the Gameday: October 11, 2016.

Following a successful mission into the mist-shrouded and shifting Gloomspires, the Pathfinder Society sent another team to explore the tomb of the legendary pirate Sevenfingers. Unfortunately, this team never returned. The spires have momentarily halted, allowing a new team to brave the tomb’s many dangers, hopefully rescuing their allies in the process.

This scenario is a sequel to Pathfinder Society Scenario #6–06: "Hall of the Flesh Eaters".

Players should:

  • Be a registered member of Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

  • Apply & post with a complete, legal character of appropriate level. Please include your PFS number for your submitted character on the Alias profile and/or post it to the discussion thread with the form I provide for information for your Chronicle Sheet. I am open to any format of character sheet, but please make sure all information is available and easy to find.

  • Make sure you are familiar with the rules included in the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide. It's a free download and part of the core assumption.

  • Commit to check in and post at least once per day on weekdays. Post rate is key in keeping a PBP fresh and interesting to all who participate. I will always understand that life comes first, but this is Official Society Play. Habitual stragglers will be asked to step down if I feel they are not carrying their weight as Pathfinders.

  • Recognize that the rules of Pathfinder Society Organized Play require the player to own the Additional Reasources used to build his/her character. While I will not ask for any proof of ownership, I will expect to be provided with a link to the Online Reference Document when asked. Coding the links into your sheet will save time and is especially appreciated.

As your GM, I will:

  • Finalize tables by October 10, 2016, if not before then, and begin the game before 11:59 pm my time on October 11, 2016.
  • Update the Gameplay thread at least once per day during the week as well as once over the weekend or do my best to notify the group of the reason for the delay as soon as I am able.
  • Report our progress and send out Chronicle sheets at the conclusion of each scenario we run.
  • Respond in a timely manner to any questions or concerns.

I have a lot of affection for the Play-by-Post format. I like that it gives players the opportunity to really think through their character's actions, strategize and plan with their teammates and really flesh out their PC's personalities with (at least a little!) characterization and role-playing. If you apply to this game, please be prepared to provide more in your posts than a one-line directive with all the flare and personality of "rook to queen bishop 4".

I'm looking forward to a great Gameday. Let's have some fun!

In the tidy office of the Lodge stands a tall but lean man dressed in black cloth covering an armor. He hobbles along slowly, one of his leg seemingly stiff, unable to bend the knee. A grim look and furry eyebrows adorn his face, as well as a goatee and long black uncombed hair. As he limps after the other Pathfinders, he leans on a longspear serving him as a makeshift walking stick. A scraggy black wolf walks alongside him. It is hard to say which one - of the master or the beast - is more famished and prone to lunge at someone's throat. Yet an aura of mystery and fascination surrounds this man, who simply introduces himself with a raspy voice.

"I am Skarn, and this is Fianna." he says, patting the wolf.

Greetings Bluedove, I'd very much like to apply for this scenario. As a seasoned PFS player and GM, I know very well the guide and the additional resources document. I'm a frequent poster, and looking forward to playing this game! As a side note, I've played Hall of the Flesh Eaters, but not with this character. Hence I'll set aside my somewhat fuzzy recollections of that scenario.

Character name: Skarn "Tashanna" Moonbane

Zavita says a little prayer before leaving the medial ward of the local lodge. Trying to fight back emotions after a long extensive procedure helping someone cling to life. She then washes her hands, which are covered in a series of scars and scorch marks, and pulls her sleeves down trying to hide her affliction. She walks up to Skarn and slightly bows, and then smiles down at the wolf.

"I am Zavita. A pleasure to meet you."

Zavita appears to have no weapons, but has a bandolier slung across her chest with two flask and a wand shoved haphazardly into it. A wayfinder with the Silver Crusades insignia swings from her hip, right over a spell component pouch. Her skin is pale and hair white. She carries herself as a woman twice her age, due to the sights she has seen, and friends lost, that she could not save in time.

I would love to take part in this scenario. Zavita did complete Hall of the Flesh Eaters.

Scarab Sages

My character who played Hall of the Flesh Eaters (seen here) is still stuck at level 2 - how dangerous might it be for him to play up?

The Professor has also played Hall of the Flesh Eaters, but I'd be looking for a low tier game for him.

Grand Lodge

A dusty dwarf shuffles back into town, leading a camel that doesn't appear to be interested in being led. "Wait out here, Joe. They don't want you spittin' on the floor in here."

Brushing off the worst of the dirt, he coughs as he escapes the cloud he created. Inside, he reads the posting for the upcoming adventure.

"Gloomspires again? Brings back some bad memories... still, would wish being stranded there on my enemies, so if a rescue mission is needed, I can lend my urgrosh and experience to the task."

Henrick did Hall of the Flesh Eaters long ago, and I think even has a boon from it that may be relevant.

I think you misunderstand the term "play up". It designates the fringe case in which a group of PCs' APL is exactly at 0.5 in between tiers, and thus can choose to "play up" (play in the higher tier) or "play down" (in the lower tier). However, you can never take part in a scenario whose tier you aren't in with your PC. In this very case, you must be level 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 if you want to play that scenario - you can't play it otherwise. I hope this helps clarify things.

Skarn's gaze remains on the planetouched for a handful of seconds, then turns away, as if repelled by the holy air about the young woman. Nevertheless he bows courteously in return, apparently keen on following the customs of a region he might not be native of. "Likewise." he simply replies, before noticing that Fianna has relinquished her intimidating looks to seek the healer's attention, allowing her to pet her.

"That's most peculiar, she never behaves like that. Tell me, Zavita, do wild beasts often lay down at your feet? There's something odd about you, yet strangely enthralling." The Jadwiga then sniffs the air like a wolf, bluntly adding: "You have the smell of the divine about you. God-touched perhaps? Blessed by fate? You and I are much alike, more than our bearing may reveal. Out of curiosity, did your powers come with a curse?"

Scarab Sages

A half-elf with pale hair wanders in, his head down studying a small journal. He looks up at the sound of voices, slightly surprised. "You're not here for a lesson, are you?" He quickly takes in the Pathfinders' clothing and equipment. "No, you're not acolytes, are you?"

He pulls out another small notebook and flips to a marked page. "Ah, yes! Discussing further study of the Gloomspires! Oh, very exciting. The Dark Tapestry remains one of the most mysterious forces. While no one worships it directly, there is much worship around the Void. And the last time I was down there, it was filled with cannibals and necromancy. Fascinating."

Sovereign Court

In a hurry, but would like to play my Cavalier Doyote through this.

I really like your PbP GM style bluedove! I would like to run through both this and the prequel.

Though Magt would be my preffered PC, if we end up low tier, I have a 1st level barbarian. If high tier and you don't think we have enough muscle, I have a 5th level melee druid.

Low tier is 1-2 or something, then? In that case, my Occultist would definitely like to play.

Grand Lodge

The GM has already said it's a 3-7 scenario in his first post

A skinny winged tiefling as I'll go again to the glomspires if needed, last time wasn`t as bad as it could be.

Did you make some notes, Professor? Can we compare our discoveries? I was specially interested in the strange undead mass I saw, but I'm always open to learn new things.

I have registered for your first slot game day V scenario (#6-06 Halls of the Flesh Eaters). If you have a spot open, I would like to join in and play through this one in succession.

A rough looking man walks into the room wearing a leather looking tunic over a chain shirt. Draped across his back hangs a well crafted composite long bow, a thick quiver of arrows, and a well provisioned backpack. After taking a moment to observe the occupants in the room, the man pulls back the hood from his cloak and makes himself comfortable at one of the tables.

"If there is room, I have unfinished business at the Gloomspire. I am willing to join anyone, willing to risk the trip."

What's misleading Herr Magt Jaeger and I'm Hiding in your Closet is that Halls of the Flesh Eater is a tier 1-5 scenario, whereas this one is a tier 3-7.

GM:
Since it seems we have a majority of player for the lower subtier, I will gladly propose another character if that's okay with you. Shisen, my 3rd-level kistune mesmerist, or Hikage, my wayang eldritch samurai, would gladly join that band of merry pathfinders in that case. The choice of characters may depend on what the group needs the most as a role, I'm fine with playing either.

Ha sorry, I had it written down as a 1-5. This guy is 3rd if low tier, I have a couple of 5th or 6th if high tier.

Liberty's Edge

Ah... This place. Says an armored man. Been there. I was stress that we had only a few day to explore it. But we had strong arm last time. I wonder if it will be as much fun.

He washs his hammer using a washcloth.

I might run two tables for this one, since a good amount of players for the prequel are interested in this one as well. Doyote, I need to see a complete character sheet and caps and I'm Hiding In Your Closet will need to pick characters of appropriate level. I know you both have plenty! =P

Calling this one closed for now, I'll figure out the tiers and tables once I have all the necessary info.
