Do you want to write yourself to the Long Road Coffeehouse? Or should I write something to get you aquainted and move on to the next day? I have no preference here, just asking. It would be enough, that everyone has seen everyone once and maybe exchanged a few words.
Now it's up to you, if you want to expand on that, or if I move at a faster pace to the protest.
Saul Gibson |
My preference would be that we all gather at the coffeehouse on this day, minus Salonius but maybe including Peeko, and have a chance to interact for a while. And when we are done there you could narratively advance us to the protest, fast forwarding a bit.
In between that space of time Saul would be checking in with Alamara on her work, checking in with Meli's mom, and trying to stakeout the castle and probably failing to learn much of anything.
Saul Gibson |
yeah.... not sure
in real life, whenever someone says something to me so off the wall I don't know what the 'ell they are talking about, I often ignore it. I think I subconsciously did that here too. Maybe Saul will have a different reaction than me. I'll wait and think about that.
Saul Gibson |
:D :D
So I walk into a coffeehouse, and the first thing the person I've never met before says to me in a creepy voice: "As black as your soul.... bwa ha ha ha!" She sounds like a old witch or something. That is what Saul heard. :D
Saul Gibson |
Well it is certainly a t-shirt . :D :D
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
I'm here, sorry. Yesterday was rough, so I didn't get posts up anywhere, really.
Saul Gibson |
Fhingle- I am all good with mysterious, but you must have some background! No need to tell Saul about it, but you should have stuff like that to make yourself a deeper character.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Fhingle has his background worked out and cross-checked by me. You went through recruitment with me, you should know that none shall pass without.
There is just a gaping nothing in his profile where the written background should be, as we did that in PM and Fhingle obviously DIDN'T FIND THE TIME TO ADD IT TO THE PROFILE (hint hint).
But I'm not going to be the one telling you that background.
Saul Gibson |
That's cool!! I did check out his profile, so... maybe that was cheating on my part.
Salonius Barradin |
@Alamara not sure if this is an official thing, but I have always played that you do not use diplomacy with fellow players, partly to avoid incidents like rolling a 3 on important introductions ;)
On a side note I am around but without anything for Salonius to interact with and Peeko being to discrete to start talking in a public place I do not have a great deal to say for the moment.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Is it bad that at this point I think Peeko is the character and Salonius is along for the ride?
Foxy Quickpaw |
One thing I find important:
Your reaction to being bluffed/diplomacied/hacked at with an axe is yours to decide.
No one needs to blurt out "Liar!" just because he/she made the sense motive roll. I've seen that in the most inappropriate situations. You don't even have to roll it.
I've used roll bluffs between players several times just for the fun of it. And it adds a different layer by transporting that Alamara does a bad job at playing interest in the book.
That Meliandri fails the sense motive is even more funny.
It adds something random to social interactions that can become interesting.
Of course one could simply write out that one awkwardly tries to feign interest. And another to be blissfully ignorant about that. To everyone his own.
Salonius Barradin |
Is it bad that at this point I think Peeko is the character and Salonius is along for the ride?
Its worse that I am starting to think it ;)
Salonius Barradin |
On a side note, the prison thing has done it's part, and as this here will take longer (and exclude you from playing) you'll get thrown out.
Great, is it okay to advance to the guard releasing him? In the meantime I'll check whether he can use the empathic link to find Peeko and join the group.
Edit It does not really say, but it seems like a caster might be able to do a sort of warmer colder thing to track down their familiar? Though I am making a fairly large leap with that.
Empathic Link (Su): The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link’s limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.
Salonius Barradin |
A little confused on the time, is it currently almost curfew as it was when Salonius was released - hence not heading to the coffee shop? Or is the coffee shop, sort of, in an earlier time zone?
Foxy Quickpaw |
It is not curfew yet and I'll give the discussion in the coffeeshop some time. I was just vague about time with your release as no one walks around with a watch.
You could have gone to the coffeehouse, as we discussed how you could find the way. But it is just natural, that you didn't take a risk after what you experienced. But time in the coffeeshop moves really slow in real time compared to game time. That half hour they have left is more than enough to exchange a few sentences.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Meliandri is basically me in that regard, though I'm less outgoing. I know a lot, but don't always know what the appropriate time to say something is.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
If you want to move on, we can move our conversation to spoilers and keep it going, that way the game itself can move on.
Saul Gibson |
Meli, feel free to call Saul out on what he said, or agree with it, even though I am not directly talking to you! I decided to provide a little bit of honesty, even though it was a dangerous thing to do, in order to provide a base for the group to gel.
Saul Gibson |
Wow, that really sucks. I am having a hard time understanding why it is hard to keep up personally, not every post has to be a dissertation. Maybe I am feeling a little mad because I tried very hard to get her involved but got very little in return.
This is my favorite of all 7 threads I am involved in because I can really see this story doing great things.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Alamara is able to do a posting rate of one post per day. To find out you're behind 10 posts when you check to write your one and everyone is already waiting for you can be frustrating and put a lot of pressure on someone (I don't know if that's true for her).
I lost players I still play with in other games for threads that ran too fast for them.
It's sad for all involved, but we'll manage.
Salonius Barradin |
Totally understandable, a great shame, but I can absolutely relate to Alamara's reasoning - there are many games where her posting would have been more than sufficient.
That said I am very much enjoying the unusual manner of starting and posting rate :) Also looking forward to the group getting together and onboard the Rebellion train!
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Meliandri's goal for the day is to have a good fight with her mother, just FYI.
Saul Gibson |
Goodbye, Alamara. I'm sad and a little mad you are leaving. I thought we would topple a government together. I was looking forward to you as a partner. But I wish you the best of luck in your new city. You probably are doing the right thing getting out of Kintargo before the whole place goes to Hell.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Don't be mad. She told us a few times that the posting rate was too high for her to keep up. I was hoping she'd be able to hold on until we were grouped up and that it'd balance out then, but it's not unusual for a high posting rate to mess up someone's experience. I've had it happen in my Kingmaker game, but we were able to tone it down.
EDIT: Are we going to find another front-liner for party composition, or not worry about it too much. I can build Meliandri down a slightly different path than I'd intended, but she'll definitely not come into her own until level 3 at the earliest as a combatant.
Saul Gibson |
Saul has every right to be mad. He just hired her! Now he is going to have to try to wrangle Meli, and I am not sure if he can do it.
I as a player am just a little disappointed. I liked Alamara.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
I'd originally rolled Intimidate, but decided that a natural 20 for a 23 total wasn't how this conversation should go.
Saul Gibson |
I just love how mint and clothes are what decide the issue for Meliandri
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Wisdom of 8. That's all I'm saying.
By the way, Mels is loosely based on a historical figure from France whose name slips my mind. She did all sorts of cool things, like duel with men, pretend to be a man, dress up as a nun to break her girlfriend out of a convent, drink heavily, curse like a sailor, etc. She was kind of a big deal for the duration of her early life, until she settled down.
Saul Gibson |
If I get desperate enough.... maybe if I lose the Meli contract for failure to produce results. :D
Jhen |
Hello all! GM Foxy Quickpaw has asked me to drop in and introduce my PC Jhen.
Jhen is a native of Kintargo and has enjoyed living in the cosmopolitan city. He is an aspiring actor (with a few appearances as an extra [no speaking of singing parts]) and makes his living choreographing fight scenes for the theater as well as by teaching aspiring actors how to fence. He is a swashbuckler and should be able to hold the front lines.
