Peeko the Thrush |
LOL, well yes, but it was that a seagull, a crane, or a full body owl. Slim pickin's if someone can point me towards a better birdy I will happily change. I was searching under animals and magic beasts so maybe there is something in another category.
Peeko the Thrush |
Oh, sorry, sort trying to balance moving things along with rolling for everything, etc. But this is the kind of thing where in real time I would have protested the guard putting Peeko anywhere he could not readily escape - and he was charmed. Do you want to retcon?
Salonius Barradin |
I would presume not, largely because they have a rough release date and Salonius does not want them to. But more than happy for you to use them as you wish I figure you put out a few general guidelines with NPCs and then they are essentially the GMs.
The main reason all the female family members overheard was because Peeko has an INT of 6 so him missing the point of instructions is to be expected.
I think that is the first time in over a decade of gaming, with many attempts, that I have ever had a Charm Person succeed! I only had it because it was my school spell.

[dice=Fort]1d20+2 (Not enough to beat a lot of more common sleeping drugs/medicines/poisons, so we’ll roll with that.)
Meliandri nods in thanks and, in only a few minutes, curls up under the blankets and falls asleep.
Don’t think there’s much more than that, unless it’s NOT a sleepytime concoction.
It's just that. Just to give your foster mum a little more than the suffering of your attitude. But with little effect to your current play. I guess she will try to put you on a shorter leash without you noticing ;)

Almara, it will be hard to have a conversation with you unless we do a bunch of fast back and forths. Otherwise a single conversation could take a week of real-time. I'll watch for you being on and try to reply as fast as I can. Luckily we are both in the US.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
@Saul/Almara: Alternatively, since you probably know the outcome of the conversation in advance, you could do your chat in spoilers and RP the outcome and what happens after at the same time.

I like that. I see the outcome as the two of becoming partners, at least temporarily. Almara, if you start the conversation I will move us towards meli's suggestion.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Taking in Alamara as Watson to the grand Sherlock Holmes would have potential. But that potential lies in the back and forth of the conversations.
With some fun coming from the "You can't walk around like this" "Why" "Full plate with the holy symbol of a no longer welcome deity? That's like painting a bulls eye on your chest" "But I'm proud of my faith..."
But an approach that might work for that setting is to put Alamara in the office. Put her in a dress and the armor into the wardrobe she could welcome customers and Gibson could give her errands to run, that are less stealthy/investigative, but more heavy on charms and diplomacy. Because that will probably be where Alamara will shine (can't tell for sure as no profile exists yet).
Anyway, I'll wait a bit more to give you the chance to get your dialogue worked out. But latest noon (4 hours from now) I'll call it a day and hand out the next proclamation.
Saul Gibson |
well it is Sunday so I got up at 8:30. Later than a normal day. I'm in Eastern US.
Salonius Barradin |
Plain old GMT here.
Since Saul has been employed to track down Salonius would it make sense to have his family send the thrush to tell Professor Glenell what is going on and then have her send him to Saul?
I kinda like the idea of just playing Peeko helping Saul as an investigator for a few days. A talking flying finch with a +18 stealth would probably be quite useful. If you and FQ are up for it of course Saul.
Salonius Barradin |
Feel free to ignore Salonius's spell creation musings, I was just trying to find him a way to pass the time. Though I would definitely be thrilled if he could create it, and it might help alleviate our healing issues a little; But it would cost him 1000gp, a week of research, and require DC 16 Spellcraft and Knowledge Nature checks (though he would take 10 and autopass) - going by the optional new spell creation rules on the PFSRD.
Foxy Quickpaw |
...Right now, you are about as innocent as a cat in a bird shop.
More like a cat in a dog kennel.
Rolling the day forward in the middle of our interaction threw me off a bit. I guess that means the real conversation got delayed to the next day?
Saul's post answered that? Sorry I killed the mood there.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Should I give you the prison description, or do you want to wait for Alamara to answer your question? If not this conversation becomes something like an alien abduction thing.
"Hey, one moment we're talking, and the next thing I remember is that it is a new day and me sitting on your stairs again."
Ok, maybe it is more like "Groundhog Day"
Peeko the Thrush |
@Saul Gibson Peeko means bluff more than stealth here by sneaky. Sort of the difference between going up to the Prison and staring at it and walking past while casually glancing its way. I am not sure where the Prison is located so I do not know if a casual walk by is viable.
Peeko the Thrush |
Response to Saul's comment in gameplay. Peeko has a 15 Wisdom, so trying for low Int high Wis. Always difficult to parse out what mental abilities actually cover what behaviour wise, but I am going with Peeko having a good memory and being largely sensible when it come to real danger, etc. Bad at higher level math, bad at understanding the meaning behind instructions, for example contacting Salonius's father, but not figuring out he was supposed to do so to keep the news from Salonius's mother, etc.
Also charisma 6 so he ought to be a touch abrasive - its definitely not just because it amuses me ;)
Foxy Quickpaw |
I decide the difference between Int and Wis that way:
- if you have to come up with a solution or recognize and make a conclusion about something you never came across, you need Int.
- if you simply lived long enough, or made enough experience to know the outcome, even if you couldn't come up with it yourself, then it is wisdom.
Low Cha could also mean that people don't notice the bird, for lack of grand outgoing personality. But from what we've seen so far from Peeko, that is not it in his case ;)
Salonius Barradin |
Out of curiosity @Saul Gibson why do you want to follow a pair of guards? Has it been mentioned they had out in pairs or something? Would it not be easier to ail a singular guard if that is an option.
Forgive me if I am misunderstanding something - long day.
Saul Gibson |
yeah, foxy said they go out in pairs. Single would be better, but she probably doesn't want it that easy.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Honestly, I think the pacing will slow down once we group up. Right now, it's easy to maintain a high pace because there's not very many intra-party interactions. Hopefully it slows down, because posting a meaningful post takes time.
Saul Gibson |
Yeah, it will slow down but I really like the faster pace. Easier to get into it rather than wait wait waiting all the time. But I understand that it will change eventually
Saul Gibson |
500 posts a weekend? Oh wow...!
Welcome Fhingle! I'm interested to see what you have in store! Feel free to intercept Saul whenever you desire.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Hopefully you'll fit in in Kintargo as it becomes, presumably, a less friendly place for halflings.
Saul Gibson |
Hi Foxy,
As we get closer to possible combat, I wanted to point out a major thing with Saul's build. I gave him a longspear (10 ft reach) and combat reflexes (3 AoO a round). So it is probable that he will get a high number of AoO, and so I stuck the dice line into my character header so you can do an easy cut and paste for it.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
I've been running a Kingmaker game for 3 years now, and its pace alternated between frenetic and lethargic for a long time until eventually the entire game started struggling with unrelated fights with depression. Now it grinds on, 2/3 posts a week at most.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
XD
If you want to do "random family RP", I'm down. I'm also down to sit and wait Either way.
Foxy Quickpaw |
You for sure have student friends, don't you? How about you go out and meet some of them at the Long Roads Coffeehouse (V13 on the map in the PG)
I'm leaving now, so it'll take some time for me to give a proper description of the place, but you would meet our new party member there.
Saul Gibson |
As for Hawkes, we should talk who he is and his whereabouts. Or do you like following a phantom?
Right, the longspear needs to be 10 feet away to use. Got it.
As for Hawkes, I am imagining that he was a person of interest to the Thrunes for a while due to his big mouth, dislike of the government, and occasional loud reference to the Silver Ravens. I mention him in my bio, he is a friend an occasional partner to Saul. So he certainly isn't a phantom to me (though I did forget about him for the first couple of pages when we started). Saul assumes he was arrested, but it is up to you to decide where he is and when Saul will see him again. I can envision you using him when it is time to get the Silver Ravens into the game as a natural way of getting Saul interested in the Silver Ravens, but it is your call.
Salonius Barradin |
Good Day all The Kitsune GM has asked me to step in to Kintargo and play around a bit.
Welcome aboard Fhingle, I look forward to interacting in play :)
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
If you can dream it, you can be it, Alamara! Which means you can BE a fancy coffeeshop order!
Saul Gibson |
whoops, caught that wrong alias just in time. Not the first time...
