Jin-Goro Gallonica

Just a note, while spiritual ally counts as a creature it counts as an ally and we can move through it without any difficulty.
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
The blue ninja does a pretty impressive leaping roll, jumping off of the counter and attempting to roll past Quiven to get into a flanking position.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 14 - 2 = 20 Provokes AoO
Attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 + 2 = 27 Miss

The spectral figure strikes out with its scythe.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23 dealing damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 force damage
Attack 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 dealing damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 force damage
Wei Ji
|
"Not sure where you're running to, there's only death that direction!" Wei warns the ninja that's attempting to flee.
+2 Adamantine Sawtooth Sabre(Crits if hits): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Crit confirms automatically
'Standard' Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Crit. Confirm: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Jin-Goro Gallonica
|
Looking to take some of the pressure off Quiven Jin casts two spells in quick succession, his hands start to glow a dark red colour. He flies into the cabin over Hiram and towards the blue ninja.
Floating next to him he reaches out and tries to touch him but misses.
Touch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Edit: Cannot use a swift and immediate on the same turn
Quiven Glist
|
AoO on Blue: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27 for Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Quiven shifts out of the flank and continues to press the assault on Blue!
Full Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 for Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Full Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 for Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Full Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 for Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The Man Behind the Curtain

Forgot last turn's poison continuation
Quiven's Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Str Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Wei-Ji's Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 Str Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Adjusting some damage accordingly, makes no real difference though
Wei Ji moves forward and delivers a single slash across the neck of the green-robed assassin. He moves to parry too late, and a spray of blood comes jetting out of a thin cut across his throat. By the time he collapses to the ground, only a few more breaths and gurgles come forth from his mouth.
Quiven lashes out at the blue-robed assassin and lands one cut as he maneuvers into position, but fails to strike with his next two. His final tired slash however seems to have outdone the assassin's weak resolve and cuts his leg deeply, causing him to collapse.
The spiritual scythe wielder continues to wear down the final standing assassin.
Round 3:
Jin-Goro
Quiven (May take AoO on Blue) Str Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3 Fort DC 24 negates
Hiram
Wei-Ji Str Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 Fort DC 24 negates
Shins
Red Ninja (-47)
Roary
Blue Ninja (-60, Unconcious, Dying)
Quiven Glist
|
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 Oy, so that's -5 Strength damage now.
Wei Ji
|
Fort Save(DC24): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 -4 STR here. We're gonna have to stop by a temple or something before the next event unless we have something amazing going on as a party. Otherwise we're pretty screwt, right?
The tengu's slice at the throat is a bit wobbly as Wei slumps a bit.
"May your next life treat you better. CREW QUARTERS CLEAR!"
Little Shins
|
Shin's makes a motion of prayer toward the assassin, lengthening it to a prayer for Wei Ji's health.
"How is everything on deck Roary? Is everyone alright?"
Heroism on Wei Ji. +2 morale bonus on saves, attacks, skill checks.
Inspire Greatness on Wei Ji granting 2d10 Hit Dice of temporary hit points. +2 circumstance bonus on attack rolls and +1 circumstance bonus to fortitude saves.
If Wei Ji wishes to reroll a failed saving throw for the poison after this, I will cast saving finale to give you that reroll.
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram attacks the red ninja, while pondering if anyone, truly anyone, ever expects an Inquisition.
Hiram stabs! Activating arcane strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 for 1d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 3 = 12 damage!
Hiram stabs! Activating arcane strike: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 for 1d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 3 = 11 damage!
Wei Ji
|
Temporary HP: 2d10 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Current Buffs: Inspire Greatness (+2 Attack, +1 circumstance Fort, option to reroll failed saving throw for poison next go)
The tengu straightens up a bit as Shin offers hopeful words and spiritual power to bolster his resolve.
"I'm right behind you, one second to check this one."
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Hiram's stab drops the final assassin to the ground. It has ragged breaths as it slowly bleeds out.
The poison that Wei-Ji and Quiven have been affected with is particularly strong, and continues to work its way through their bloodstreams, slowly paralyzing them.
Duration is 6 rounds, cure 2 saves, 1d3 Str damage. You each have 3 rounds left of it, so you can roll through the rest of it and try to find your way to someone to aid you on those checks.
Red Con: 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (9) - 6 = 3
Blue Con: 1d20 - 7 ⇒ (5) - 7 = -2
Red Ninja (-60, Dying)
Blue Ninja (-61, Dying)
Green Ninja (Dead)

Round 4
Fort Save(Inspire Greatness, Heroism)DC 24: 1d20 + 12 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 1 + 2 = 32
The tengu runs upstairs to make sure the other two assailants don't die... yet.
Round 5
Fort Save(Inspire Greatness, Heroism)DC 24: 1d20 + 12 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 1 + 2 = 35
Rebuke Death(Red): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Rebuke Death (Blue): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
After a few moments he's still feeling quite innervated, but nods a curt thanks to Shin for his timely intervention...
Roary Flamebearer
|
Roary gets down just in time to see the ninja downed.. Sad faced he moves back up see those two down as well.. "Well you guys are no fun.. Didn't even let me hit one of them.."
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram stands over the red one while Wei Ji saves him. "Excellent, friend bird-man! I was wanting to continue my conversation with that one! He had some interesting ideas on dramatic entrances that I feel must be explored in this medium."
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Con blue: 1d20 - 7 ⇒ (2) - 7 = -51d20 - 8 ⇒ (20) - 8 = 121d20 - 9 ⇒ (12) - 9 = 3
Con red: 1d20 - 8 ⇒ (20) - 8 = 121d20 - 9 ⇒ (9) - 9 = 0
Wei Ji places his hand over each of the 2 assassins in the galley, and they shudder a bit, but remain unconscious. They do however continue to breathe, so they appear to be alive.
Wei Ji
|
"Is everyone else alright? Quickly, now, bind them up and let's check them for any other surprises and perhaps some sort of indication as to who sent them. And then we need to see about getting to a temple because... I'm beat. Stupid poison."
Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Take 10 Perception=33, otherwise...
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32
Jin-Goro Gallonica
|
Jin will move to assist Wei-Ji and Quiven, dropping Delay Poison on each of them. That should see you both right for the moment. I can try to cleanse you of the poison tomorrow or just keep the delay up until this whole tournament is over. For now though lets see about getting rid of some of that damage
With that Jin will produce an enormous roll of scrolls of Lesser Restoration and start activating them.
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
I am not certain how much damage you took between you, if you need more let me know. I will start with Quiven as he is closest.
If we want Neutralise Poison tomorrow Jin can channel the Life Spirit instead of Ancestors, it will mean he will be terrible at Knowledge skills but it does also bring channel and breath of life.
Jin will also heal himself with his infernal healing wand and recast keep watch.
UMD: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38
Wei Ji
|
Wei took 4 Str, I believe? So one of those castings could easily handle him and the rest to Quiven, who wasn't doing so well?
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Once figure out Quiven's damage we'll figure out how many scrolls get used. Also remember that you heal 1 for sleeping as well.

Little Shins
|
Shins runs up on deck to check the injured. Shins watches for lingering wounds as he finds his remaining crew and instructs them to prepare a clear room and bindings to hold the prisoners until more long term plans are crafted.
"I apologize to both of you for your wounds. I can't remove the poison from your body, but Let me know if there is anything else I can get either of you."
"Should I call for the guard to retrieve them?"
Wei Ji
|
"Shin, you've done fine by me but there are others that may need your aid."
Wei pauses for a moment.
"We're going to need to search them for any documentation or clues as to who hired them, and then what sort of resources they have. After that, we wake one of them up and question them privately, making sure that they don't have some easy way to commit suicide during the process."
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
It looks as though most of the crew is still out on leave. A couple crew members are back in their bunks, but they appear unresponsive. Each of them are passed out in their bunks, breathing shallow breaths and failing to respond to any sort of wake-up call.
Rifling through the assassin's equipment turns up a small brass coin hidden int he folds of the red assassin's robes. The coin's face is marked with a coiled asp and its tail carved with the letters P.O.D.
Each of the assassins have a a pair of empty potion vials, and a pair of empty poison vials. One of the assassins has one remaining full poison vial. Each of them appear to have applied poison to their short swords and obviously to their initial barrage of darts as well. Each of them are equipped with armor, blade, darts, and a small degree of magical protective equipment.
Loot Stash from Assassins:
3x +1 Studded Leather Armor
3x +1 Short Sword
3x +1 Cloak of Resistance
3x +1 Ring of Protection
1x Vial of Poison
Quiven Glist
|
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 That didn't go well.
Strength Damage: 3d3 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) + 5 = 10
Looks like we need four scrolls of the Lesser Restoration, the first three to Quiven and the other to Wei.
Little Shins
|
Shins is happy to provide help to Quiven with spells and song, but but would wait for Jin's delay poison to run out or be dispelled. With taht I can offer the same bonuses I granted Wei Ji (+3 to fortitude saves), which would not affect any of those rolls, but feel free to reroll any saves with my saving finale spell.
"I can set aside a room to hold them, I'll try to make room for anyone who wishes to speak with him. Roary, would you assist in binding them?"
Roary Flamebearer
|
"Sure.. I suppose I can at least do that since I was ineffective with the fight.."
He drags the limp bodies to the holding room and binds the assassins.. He uses his materwrok manacles on one of the two..
Wei Ji
|
In the interests of time and expediency, since I am heading to work and won't be able to update for Wei for nine hours, unless someone else wants to take the lead interrogating the prisoners he'll be attempting to ask:
Who hired them?
Where they were hired?
Where they are expected to bring their prizes for reward?
How soon they were expected to do this?
What sort of terms they were under?
...and any other nifty things that could come from that conversation. If they are resistant, it could be pointed out that they failed and this is their chance to undo at least a part of their failure, which might speak to more mercantile folks?
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Don't worry Wei Ji. We're well ahead of schedule.
Assassin's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Assassin's Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Wei-Ji's Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29
Assassin's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Assassin's Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
Wei-Ji's Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39
"We do not speak, we will not break."
As Wei Ji gets to the second question, he notices that the Assassin is very carefully working his hands around within the manacles, attempting to create a large enough gap to lever open. This trick seems as though it would take years and years of practice to perform, but he's an expert. Despite his obvious skill, he's struggling and currently unable to break free of the manacles... for now.
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram happily steps toward the crimson assassin and begins to ask him about his opening phrasing. "So, we had quite a nice repartee going there before I had to stab you repeatedly. Tell me: Is it true that no one expects Quadiran Assassins? Doesn't that make it awkward in your day to day life? Do appointments you make get forgotten often?"
Hiram Kell
|
"But they won't be expecting us. It would be rude. I bet you have a disappointing social life if no one ever expects you. If a female Quadiran Assassin gets pregnant, is she expecting or is the birth always a surprise?" Hiram muses.
Quiven Glist
|
Huh? Quiven blurts out in between bites of his banana.
Quiven Glist
|
Maybe you should write it down instead... oh, wait. You can't. Quiven forgot about the manacles.
Jin-Goro Gallonica
|
Jin will remain on watch in case there is a second team of assassins or they have back-up.
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Assassin's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Assassin's Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
Interrogator's Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 431d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 241d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Assassin's Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Interrogator's Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
"Give me a quill then. I'll write with my teeth."
As he says this a few of you all get a really bad feeling at the same time. Wei Ji notices that one of the manacles has some blood on it that wasn't there before, and the assassin's thumb appears to be folded under his palm in what looks to be an extremely painful manner. Quiven gets the distinct feeling he's being verbally misled, and Hiram is still confused about who his next meeting is with.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven will also ask for healing, just in case more hostilities break out.
CLW Wand: 5d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 6, 6) + 5 = 25 That and a night of rest will do it.
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram sighs deeply. This line of discussion is clearly not going as well as he'd like. "Will you please stop trying to escape and just accept that we now, in fact, DO expect the Qadiran Assassins, thus foiling your premise and ruining your schtick? Can I suggest that you instead embrace the concept of talking about who hired you, thus ensuring that you live to be unexpected once more?" Hiram makes a gesture and his rapier pops into his hand from his glove of storing, as he lays the blade under the nice assassin's chin, his threat obvious. Intimidate: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Initiative Hiram: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Initiative Assassin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Disarm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 5 = 12
The threat of death doesn't appear to phase him at all. The assassin lashes out with his bloody hand and attempts to grab the rapier by the blade. He's still anchored in place, but it seems like not for long...
Note, you're not really in rounds, I just used an initiative check to test reactions. Don't feel constrained to combat actions.
Wei Ji
|
The tengu sighs.
This is getting us nowhere. Master of Masters, may I introduce Hiram to the sound of one hand clapping?
As the assassin breaks out, Wei Ji will attempt to grapple the assassin vigorously.
CM(Grapple, Untrained): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
"We're not going to give you the easy way out like that. Please stop trying to die unless you're a follower of The Lost Maiden!"
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram blinks and the rapier disappears back into his glove of storing. "Ohhhh. You WANT to die. I see. In that case, my unexpected friend, let's keep you alive!"
Hiram takes a deep breath and sings, "FAAAAAME! You're gonna live forever! You're gonna learn how to fly! FAME!" Using Dirge of Doom to depress the suicidal assassin.
Wei Ji
|
The tengu leans over and whispers to the assassin.
"I'm beginning to understand your motivation here. PLEASE for the love of whatever you consider sacred talk before we all live forever without the ability to hear."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Wei Ji
|
"I appreciate your trying to save me that eternal agony, but we're all in this together as a team."
CM(Grapple, Untrained, progressing to Pin if already grappled): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Roary Flamebearer
|
Roary watches the spectical with an amused look on his face..
"If he is so keen to die rather than breech his contract, why not offer him a new contract? Surely if he is willing to die for someone elses coin he would be willing to die for ours.. Right? Or am I way off on this?"
Wei Ji
|
"True. A good mercenary gets paid twice if they can help it. So what do you think?"
The tengu peers at the ninja thoughtfully.
And now to work and away from 'Net for nine hours+
Hiram Kell
|
Hiram continues to croon!
"(Fame) I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna learn how to fly (High)
I feel it coming together
People will see me and cry
(Fame) I'm gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
(Fame) I'm gonna live forever
Baby, remember my...
(Remember, remember, remember, remember)
(Remember, remember, remember, remember)"
Jin-Goro Gallonica

From his position flying over the ship Jin watches on with amusement. If you have finished playing with the Aspis I can plane shift him to the negative material plane if you want...?
Intimidate: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
