Wei Ji, I think you have another +2 on damage. Good Hope increases weapon damage in addition to attack rolls

Whups! Not used to being able to toss the entire round (plus Haste) at a thing. GM please make any appropriate adjustments for the attacks that hit? Thank you!

I'm on phone at the moment but would someone mind controlling Roary and making his appropriate rolls?

Roary keeps steady with the red oni, attempting to remove the spellcaster before it could even think of casting another spell.
Fly Check: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 24
Assuming all bonuses in play from his attacks on the naga are same as they are now.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (14) + 25 = 39
Attack 2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Haste: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (7) + 25 = 32
Confirm 2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Dam 1: 2d4 + 32 ⇒ (3, 3) + 32 = 38
Dam 2: 2d4 + 32 ⇒ (1, 1) + 32 = 34
Dam Haste: 2d4 + 32 ⇒ (2, 3) + 32 = 37
Crit 2: 2d4 + 32 ⇒ (4, 1) + 32 = 37
Edit: Misunderstood which one required the fly check

Floating back from the Oni Jin casually waves one hand and an explosion of burning light erupts over it's head.
SR: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Automatics Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1, 4) = 12
If it gets through SR he needs to make a DC21 Reflex save or be blinded, rerolling any pass. If he saves he is dazzled.
Condition Duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds
Edit: SR check should be one higher, I rolled at +12 instead of 13, I don't think it makes any difference
Quiven may want to wait for the outcome of the spell as if he does get blinded sneak attack is a gogo

Shins for the moment drops rapier and harp in favor of his bow taking a single shot at the oni.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6

![]() |

Quiven sees his chance! If he is still 10' up I'll have to stick with the bow.
Bow: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27 for Arrow: 1d4 + 4 + 5d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (3, 4, 2, 1, 1) = 18
Bow: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24 for Arrow: 1d4 + 4 + 5d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (3, 1, 5, 1, 6) = 22
Bow: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31 for Arrow: 1d4 + 4 + 5d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (2, 5, 4, 2, 6) = 27

The final Oni comes crashing down as soon as Quiven's arrows strike. Several of the tengu around the perimeter clap and then rise. It appears as though they will be your next foes, however they appear to be giving this much more respect than the Oni. One by one they calmly rise and climb over the railing to walk out onto the field.
Another 2 rounds pass before this battle will commence.

Shins halts his song as he works to collect and reorder his hear to be ready again with harp and rapier.

![]() |

Jin will reactivate his wand of heightened awareness and move to a position 10' in the air.
The seem like a more honourable bunch, lets not get too bloody people..

![]() |

Wei will slowly fly around in a casual circle around the party to drop elevation ten feet for the moment.
"My people are skilled with all blades, exceptionally good with stealth and perception, and capable of nearly anything. Typically, though, they cannot fly without some form of assistance, so at least initially expect a mobility fight with finesse and flanking on the ground. Watch for the beak. A few of us can really do a number on a person with it.
In addition, if they are from Kwanlai, they have something to prove, so they may be highly motivated."

Roary seethes in anger for another 12 seconds before an enemey presents itsself.. He breathes heavily, spittle dropping from his mouth to the floor as he waits.

![]() |

Four of the tengu take their positions, doing their best to place themselves opposite the arena from the party. All of them take a bow, and then draw their blades in unison. One of them looks up to Wei-Ji in the air and yells out in Tengu.
"Ready?"
He gives a moment for Wei-Ji to relay the message, then raises his sword and swings it down as he yells again. "GO!"

Jin swoops forward skudding over the blood spattered floorboards of the arena, floating to a standstill he quickly begins to intone a spell. Smoke pours from his nose, ears and mouth and the scent of jasmine fills the chamber. He takes a deep breath and exhales a huge mass of sweetly smelling incense to engulf three of the tengu warriors.
Each needs to make a DC23 Fortitude save. Failure means they are nauseated for 11 rounds. Success means they are sickened for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.
Jin ends his movement 5' in the air as he wants his opponents to be able to reach him but not flank him.
Nauseated: Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn
Sickened: The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks
I would remind you all that surrender is an option, just look at how these others have fared...
Just one quick note on Heightened Awareness, it is a +4 to initiative when used not +2. It hasn't made a difference yet but I thought it was worth pointing out.

Fort Saves: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 261d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Two of the monks double over as they inhale the smoke. Their lead speaks in common with a thick accent. "We will yield when we acknowledge your victory. And we will accept your surrender if offered."

Move forward and start a dirge of doom. All enemies within 30 feet that can see and hear me gain the shaken condition.

Roary charges forward and meets the monks raised fist with his blade.
Readied Stunning Fist: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 - 2 = 8
The strike is slow and the monk takes a severe wound from the first cut. The second blow knocks him unconscious to the ground.
The other monks make a motion to halt the action.
Roary, do you continue your full attack after he's KO'd or halt as directed?

The flying tengu passed along the message about the start of the fight with a slight nod to the team.
"They are ready to begin. Go."
He will attempt to swoop down 90' Fly speed with haste, descending on a good angle for no check and land briefly next to the tengu that fell to Roary's blows and intone something in Tengu before touching the mauled birdman.
In Tengu"Master of Masters, ward this one well that he may live to learn from this experience and continue to grow towards Enlightenment"
He will then gently lay his hand on the fallen monk.

The last monk with any fight in him to speak of begins to move forward and halts abruptly as Quiven's arrow strikes him. He coughs up a bit of blood, then adopts a pose of calm as he sheaths his blade and bows awkwardly.
The monks look on with fear, then relief, then great respect towards Wei Ji as he swoops down to heal their ally. They move forward, pick him up, and take him out of the arena.
Half a minute later, the organizer barks more orders for the next group of foes to join the brawl who immediately leap over the railing and land in the arena, feet back ready to charge! Looks like another round of Oni... although this time several of them are smaller and appear to be ... wearing the skin of a human?

I think this was designed to get me to use every round of rage right at the start of the day lol..
On his next turn Roary drops rage and pull a potion of lesser resto, drinking it afterwards.. Just to allow him to rage again..

Shifty |

***OVERSEER ANNOUCEMENT***
As the once raging battle begins to slow, a strange cloud of translucent smoke appears in the center of the arena, coalescing into the demonic form of Kiang Zhen. The oni raises her hand, and the remaining creatures suddenly fall back and drop to their knees as if to acknowledge defeat.
”Well done, well done!”
”My minions accept your victory, and you have adequately the Emissary. Please, lower your weapons. I congratulate those of you still alive, for you have grown that much closer to qualifying for the Ruby Phoenix Tournament!”
The oni pauses for a minute to study the crowd before continuing, ”Beneath the trapdoors lies a series of subterranean passages. Scattered within the passages I have secured a collection of small, but nearly priceless porcelain vases. Your challenge is to locate one of these vases and return it to me. However, there is a catch – there are fewer vases than competitors. Only those who present me with a vase shall pass on to the next part of the competition.”

![]() |

"Maybe if we move fast enough we can avoid fighting anyone else."

![]() |

The oni leer at you and seem to look disappointed that they aren't getting a shot... Despite the last several bouts.
The shaft is about a 20 ft drop to the bottom and has a rope down the center. The rope attaches to a cargo platform below, but this one does not seem to budge at all. Still, it seems as though it can support the weight of at least one of you at a time, possibly two.
DC 5 climb check to descend. Or if you want to be a complete badass, DC 15 acrobatics to jump and only take 1d6 nonlethal, 2d6 lethal if you fail.

![]() |

Roary will just fly down, assuming 5 mins have not passed since he drank his fly potion.. Anyway I can retcon that lesser resto pot considering what happened?
"Can someone try to cast this one me?"
He hands a scroll of darkvision to someone with the best umd or that can cast it..

![]() |

A race? Lets go! Quiven jumps down and Feather Falls harmlessly into the tunnel. I have a ring.

![]() |

Jin will try to activate Roary's Darkvisin scroll.
UMD DC23: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
He will then fly down into the passageway below.
Let's get this done quickly!

![]() |

Unwilling to slow down the group, Shins leaps down. Taka having more self preservation, climbs down the rope.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Nonlethal: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Taka jumping off his back does throw him off balance, but he still makes it down as safely as could be expected.
Taka Climb: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

The shaft descends to a tunnel below, 10 ft wide, which reeks of sewage. It appears as though the tunnel has been used in the past to transport goods as well.
The tunnel splits off ahead to the west, and further down towards the east. The passage to the east narrows quickly to 5 ft in width, and the foul stench seems to emanate from that direction.

![]() |

Passing by the western corridor, you can see a bulky piece of machinery permanently affixed to the ground and wall. The corridor to the east is short and leads into a small room containing three large tubs, along with nets and rakes hanging from the wall.

"It is not so bad, I've seen far less agreeable views on the Pathfinder way."
Perception: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 16 + 2 = 19
"Found some instructions here for a pump. I don't see a lot of water though."

![]() |

The tengu will glide down slowly to join the rest of the party, and as Shins mentions the instructions for a pump he clears his throat.
"I... may have done some plumbing in the past, mind if I take a look at those?"
K: Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

![]() |

"Of course! The only things of the sort I've seen are the bilge pumps on ships."

![]() |

Yuck. Maybe we should keep looking. Meaning, somewhere else?

![]() |

If we are going to be wandering around the sewers maybe we could get the pump working to clear out some of the gunk. One of these things might be hidden under all of this crap and I for one don't fancy swimming through it.
Jin flips out a small journal from his pack and takes a quick look at the pump to see how long it might take to get working.
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

"At the same time, we have to be mindful and cautious that we don't disturb something dwelling down here by being too vigorous with our efforts.
This really appeals to me, for some reason. No, I'm not volunteering to go swimming in excrement."
Yeah, I can't beat that... :P
