Looks like everyone is here once all have made an intro post in Gameplay we will continue. Since we are on a short time frame we need to try and get 1 post a day at least from everyone and I will work on moving things along swiftly.
Thanks for joining and hope everyone has some fun!

Dak, just so you are aware, they did extend the deadline for PbP games as long as they started before the cutoff, which is like July 30th I think. I'll get the exact date from Joseph when I talk to him next.
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
Sept 30th is the cutoff date for PbP games involving First Steps series.

Ah good to know. Either way, this one actually seems to be the quicker of the three so far.
Did we get some sense of how long the travel would take? I have 5 days rations, but any more than that and it might make sense to get a mule/pony to carry extra rations/gear.
Can we tell scale from the map?
CotCT | HR | MM | RoA | RotRL1 | SD | SS1 | SS2 | WftC_1 | WftC_2 |
Rough estimates would be a week at least possibly a little longer.

Orik will go half in on a mule or donkey (8gp total) if someone wants to help split cost. Other than that, he bought up enough food for 10 days travel and is good to go otherwise.

Kor'sarro isn't rich enough to fund a donkey atm :P or even pay half ;)
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
Adakos will cover the other half of the donkey, purchase saddlebags, and add 20 days rations and 5 waterskins to the load. He will also add 2 50' coils of rope to the purchase for a total cost of 25gp.

Looking at the map you figure that a mule won't get vary far on the rough trails.

No pack animal? If not, we'll just bulk up and haul it. Dwarves can be pack animals too...

Sorry for being absent. Real life(tm) interfered.
Kiya had picked up another weeks worth of rations, a second wineskin bedroll and blanket.
And would have gone in on the mule, but it doesn't look like that's happening.

Just a note for everyone, my posting is about to drop considerably for the next few days. I'm preparing Day of the Demon for a convention this weekend today and am behind already. Tomorrow I'm off and I'm taking the finance on a little day excursion for her birthday, so I'll be without access all day. Saturday I'll be in full convention mode with no posting. Sunday should bring things back to normal.

I am also unavailable to post tomorrow and perhaps into next day as I'm moving from Houston TX to Nashville TN and will be in the car with Copper the Wonder Dog for 14 hrs tomorrow.
Will see you on the other side! Feel free to bot Orik as needed.

Quick rules question that I don't think has a firm RAW answer:
How does refreshing Alchemist extracts and bombs work? They're both "uses per day". Do they just fully refresh in the morning? Are they subject to something like the wizard's "slots used in the last 8 hours don't refresh" rule?
Normally it wouldn't matter, but with midnight ambushes it might. :)
Doesn't much matter to me, I just want to know how you want to handle it.
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
It takes 1 hour to brew a mutagen. So you can actually use it and then make another if you have the time. So you don't have a limit per day on mutagens.
Alchemists spend time each morning preparing their extracts, similar to a wizard. You can leave a slot(s) blank and fill it later, which takes 1 minute (10 full rounds).
Uses fully refresh after 8 hours of "rest".

Yeah, but that leaves out the edge cases. And I don't think RAW requires rest for alchemists. All it really says is "An alchemist can create only a certain number of extracts of each level per day." Or do all the limitations in Preparing Wizard Spells apply? Except that it takes 1 minute per extract, not the times given for wizards.
How about bombs, do they refresh all at once at the start of the day? Or would any I use in this ambush count against tomorrow's total?
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
Those questions are usually up to the GM to interpret. "Per day" abilities are one of those sloppy rules that never get true clarification. Most GMs will rule every 24 hours, or after every rest period, limit 1 per 24 hour period. Others play by the 15 minute adventuring day rule.
The best "legal" answer I can find for you is under Arcane magic.
Rest: To prepare his daily spells, a wizard must first sleep for 8 hours. The wizard does not have to slumber for every minute of the time, but he must refrain from movement, combat, spellcasting, skill use, conversation, or any other fairly demanding physical or mental task during the rest period. If his rest is interrupted, each interruption adds 1 hour to the total amount of time he has to rest in order to clear his mind, and he must have at least 1 hour of uninterrupted rest immediately prior to preparing his spells. If the character does not need to sleep for some reason, he still must have 8 hours of restful calm before preparing any spells.
So that would be as close to a real ruling as possible. This would apply to any caster really. A cleric prays, a sorcerer needs rest to regain ability, and so on. The alchemist needs to rest his mind and then prepare his bombs and extracts.

I generally go with the 8 hours no more than once in 24 hours. For the purpose of watches/night attacks the 8 hours can be split.

All,
I will be away from the 14th - 18th as I will be attending GenCon to support my companies published games as well as play some Pathfinder Society. As such, with my experience from last year, I very likely won't get to post during that time, it's gaming/demoing from 8AM-Midnight everyday.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up.
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
I'm now officially checked out for GenCon. I'll be back and posting on the 19th. Don't storm the castle without me!
If anyone is going, I'm running 7 slots of 4-14 My Enemy's Enemy, stop by and say hi!
Have fun! Wish I was going!

Fair warning, I will be in the car a fair portion of the day tomorrow and may not be able to post much over the holiday weekend in US. I'm sure I'll squeeze a little in, but perhaps just a little slower than usual.

Just a note, I've been super busy with work after the long weekend should have a post up tonight/tomorrow morning.

Expecting a crazy day at the office today, but I'm going to try to get in a post later this morning. Opening a new building is tough work! :)
Male Aasimar Cleric 2
Dropping a note to all of my games. I'm out of the loop until Monday, fulfilling my VC duties and running a convention this weekend in Lexington, KY. I'll be back on Sunday but will probably be passed out from exhaustion and getting some rest. I'll see everyone on Monday!
Good luck, Captain. Hope it all goes well, I salute you for your efforts.

Kind of a shame the way it ended. Everyone blew at least one of those saves?
Pretty nasty ending to a kind of ho-hum scenario. Little in the way of actual threat makes it easy to lose focus by the end, especially online. Then you get hit with an encounter where you have to be extra alert and paranoid to even have a chance.
And one you're apparently not expected to win, since you get full credit anyway. Weird.
Ah well. No one died. There were some fun moments along the way, so I guess it's a success despite the downer ending. :)

Thanks Dak. Good game. Look forward to another sometime.
