Yeah, I really wonder if the AP just hadn't been sketched out when the Player's Guide was written... so they didn't know where the later writers would take these villains. Or they wanted some cheap surprise that these two would go from mildly bad to ultimate villains in later books... I fear it might be the latter.

I suspect the latter as well based on what I've heard of how Paizo runs their AP development. A shame:/

Not sure if I missed something where we're pausing for a bit, but do Guess and Melissa have any other ideas to add in gameplay?

Akh level up is done! Other than numbers going up, two new fun things:
- As a reaction on hitting someone, he can spend an EP to attempt to stun them for 1 round.
- As a reaction when he gets critically hit, he can force every enemy in 30ft to save vs. taking amped damage the next time they're hit.

Interestingly, nobody has triaxian, so going with that.

I also have an unselected language slot. I don't have the sense we're particularly missing something that might be useful on the Moon, but if anyone else has any ideas, I'll take em.

Akh, if you feel like your roll is high and you want to stun them then say so and I'll push it through if you did hit.

As for languages... you do feel like Triaxian could be helpful. You know you're going up against Sinjin, so Drow/Elf/Orc are all helpful.

FYI Will be away in nature next Saturday (6/7) and returning mid- to late-afternoon (US/Pacific time) Sunday (6/8) when I'll resume posting. This trip is just a portion of the weekend so I expect minimum to no disruption.

Mostly cute, plus it offers you another way to tour the station in case you went the kill-everyone-in-the-throne-room route. And there seems to be an unspoken trend in this book to give the party a chance to finally be the cool/rich/powerful kids on the block after getting kicked around for 5.5 books.

I was taking it as use the wide eyed doe to take the party in for the bait and have the brother give the hard sell if just asking didn't work.

It's a super clever bit of writing. Solves quite a few problems with disappointing final bosses of previous APs. It'll make even more sense when you get there, but you're on the right track.

Yeah... fortunately this book has been fairly unique in that it allowed most encounters to be solved without violence. Unfortunately it really didn't reward you for doing so... I'm not seeing anything else that was missed.

Alright! Is it awkward to level up in the middle of the boss fight? YES! Is it epic and fun? Also, yes!

You get the additional SP & HP that you would normally get during a level up, but your damage doesn't get healed. You get the new abilities, but don't regain any you already used. So... the benefits of leveling up but not the benefits of a 10 minute rest.

You also get one round of healing, prep, or relocating between him falling over the edge and coming back up.

Akh - Vanguard 13th Key facts
- Additional reach on entropic claw (now 20 ft)
- Entropic strike upgraded to 5d6 damage
- Can spend EP to turn an entropic strike attack into a blast weapon for that attack
- Feat = Nanite integration (repairing nanites option). This grants fast healing that can be started when you take HP damage... which seems kinda relevant.

So... hehe, strategy. UltimaSinjin is off of the ground and Jaraduk is wielding a melee weapon. He can switch to grenade launcher but he only has four non-lethal grenades left :sweats:

jaraduk: Melissa has a machine gun and a zappy gun if you can't get airborn. The zappy gun has shortrange the x gen gun has a 120 foot range.

Those are some surprisingly useful level up feats and upgrades! I didn't realize how big this would be, glad it will help. The author (RIP Del) was looking out for the little guys.

Inspiring Boost for the first time at Level 13 is actually hilarious.

It's usefullness is kind of limited by the fact that it can only be used once, and then you have to rest anyway to get another inspiring boost.

Full stamina no rest
Missing any stamina rest
Missing HP rest
Fallen over rest

Unless the boost takes you from one level to the other it has very little effect. If your envoy packs a pea shooter the standard action opportunity cost is small, but if you go with the heavy weapon paradigm its functionally -2 hit -2 damage for the party... the preventative medicine of murderating the boss usually outweighs the stam boost.

Missing HP quickly becomes six pack of calden cayden healing serum at the cost of .01 percent of your income.

Unless of course, there's only one fight left......

I knew Del was a Starfinder writer, but forgot or never realized it was for Fly Free or Die! Not something I usually look up.

And yeah, inspiring boost has mostly just been soso when I've seen it used over the years. In this last fight where we're scraping the bottom of the HP bucket though, it'll probably be pretty good.
