As the hellhound crouches for another leap at Squint, Deric's axe comes in and severs the infernal creature in half at the shoulder. Its legs don't realize the hound is dead yet and leap up anyways, overbalancing and landing on the back of the axe as Deric is pulling the axe back up. The motion cuts the legs cleanly off.
The remaining hellhound barks hot smoke into Barkot's face and attempts to remove his nose, missing slightly and taking off a chunk of his shoulder instead, heat instantly cauterizing the wound.

"DERIC! SOME HELP OVER HERE?" Reillana levels her crossbow at the hellhound savaging Barkot, then swears luridly in Elven and throws the crossbow aside when she can't find a clean shot. Striding forward, the masked elf draws her short blade and barks an arcane word. The blade glows with crimson light in response.

I revealed the rest of the labyrinth
Following Paeral, the party soon reaches the center of the labyrinth. Other than being in the center, it does not appear any different. The walls are covered in the same rusty metal plates inscribes with similar magical runes.
The sensation is familiar to you, reminding you of the building of power that accompanies the summoning ritual you perform to call Ulyi.
Knowledge(Planes) and Spellcraft may provide additional information. Reillana and Barkot can aid these respective checks if you make them aware of the sensation.
Continuing to scout out the labyrinth reveals another entrance at the southern end.

Scanning the corridors, Reillana can see that the runes on the metal plates lining the walls glow brightly under her magical sight. Motes of energy drift toward the center, speeding up as they get closer until they meet other motes in the center, flash brightly, and disappear.

I have to reward a good roll
Following Squint's descriptions, Barkot opens himself to the energies in the room. While the magic in the room is foreign to him, Barkot can sense a malevolence coming from the center of the room.
Analyzing the sensations, he remembers descriptions written in the books he has read about the outer planes of similar phenomena.
Barkot deduces that the center of the room is a weak spot between planes and that this weak spot connects to the Nine Hells.
There is still information to be gained from a Spellcraft check, Squint.

A short distance past the southern exit from the room, the party encounters an iron portculis.
The bars block the hallway and are still quite sturdy. No mechanism for opening the portculis is visible from this side.

Backtracking through the labyrinth and heading down the short hallway reveals another door leading south from that corridor.
Determining the door to be safe, Paeral opens it. Behind is a small empty room with another door on the opposite corner. On the door is a bronze plaque, green with corrosion and inscribed with spiky runes.
The door with the plaque is locked.
