Sorry you've had a rough time, Valeria.
Eltanin, good luck on NaNoWriMo! I may consider trying (again) myself--it's hard! Kudos for committing to it.

National Novel Writing Month. Challenge is to try to write every day with a goal of getting something novel-length at the end. Google for more info.

Regarding the location and my map question:
I am referring to D3, the area where we are now (bottom left hand corner of the map, with the table and pallets). We entered from the northeast. There is a narrow passage to the west that I presume is the one we could not fit through.
On the east wall, northeast of the bed, there are TWO passages depicted: the secret passage to the south side of the wall (which I was NOT referring to), and a second, non-secret passage to the north side of the wall (directly northeast of the bed up against the east wall). This passage is the one I am referring to; it ends in a staircase (look for the white arrow).

Callie: OK - gotcha. I was looking at the words rather than the picture and describing what was written (if that makes sense). D2s are all crawlspaces. So the one in the top right should have been labelled D2 and goes down and reappears directly to the NE where it leads to D1, D5 and D6. A child or small humanoid could fit through - but that's all.
I know they've used the staircase image but it isn't one!
I hope this makes sense now.
Thanks...

            Valeria, you here?
I'm dead last in the initiative list so I'd rather wait till others act to see what they're gonna do before I do anything.

Sorry. Between heat-related wooziness (currently 35 degrees Celsius in Australia, or 95 Fahrenheit) and a dodgy-ass modem, I've been spacing something savage. I'll get to busting faces now.

It feels so bizarre using 'derro' as a noun. In Australia, it's also a slang term derived from 'derelict', with similar associations to no-hoper, bum, hobo, trailer trash, and chav. Also kinda interchangeable with 'bogan'.
Just something that popped into my mind while all this is going on.

I'm with you, Birch. Australia doesn't have it either. Shame, really - I could cope with eating turkey on more than just Christmas. ;-) That said, I hope our American players are having a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

IIRC, while people tend to cite the Harvest Feast shared between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag at Plymouth as the first (American) Thanksgiving, I believe it started as a holiday in the 19th century during or post American Civil War, to remind people to appreciate whatever they had and be thankful for it (and to formalize earlier but scattered harvest festival meals along for the ride). But I'm recalling that from the top of my head and may not have it right.
Other nations have their own "Thanksgiving" traditions or festivals but they have different origins (although most are rooted in a harvest celebration or something similar).
And Valeria, actually Americans always don't have turkey for Christmas, since we have it for Thanksgiving. :) While some do the Christmas turkey, you're as likely if not moreso to see a roast beef or ham for Christmas (or if you're either rich or a country dweller good at hunting, a goose). Although this year our family is doing the turkey yesterday and for Christmas.
Thanksgiving was safe and happy. Today is Black Friday (ridiculous day of Christmas shopping specials), that's when it gets dangerous. :)

And Black Friday has made it's way to the UK. No context whatsoever - but many of the TV adverts have been using the concept - and for some it's a week-long event.
But hey - it's better than an American wishing me a happy 4th July. I suspect the history may be lost on them ;)
IDK, while it was considered a loss at the time, I have to wonder if most Brits are ultimately happy the way things turned out. ;)
On the other hand, my English stepmother for awhile was insisting on flying the Union Jack on July 4... along with the American flag yes, but still. And they live in a town the British razed to the ground during the war of 1812.

The British committed many atrocities in the name of the Empire - especially in places like Africa in the 20th century.
We are pleased that Americans speak at least a variation of English (LOL) but don't always appreciate the Americanising of British customs. e.g. when I was young, we celebrated Guy Fawkes on Bonfire Night (5th November). We hadn't even heard of Hallowe'en and trick or treating? No, it was 'penny for the Guy.' (You'll have to Google that one!)

Just to say I've had a close bereavement in the family. As you might expect, my focus is not on the game. As it may be a few weeks before I'm in a position to move forward, I must pause things until the New Year. Expect to see me back something like Monday 5th January when I plan to also return to work. Sorry for the situation but as I always say to others, RL comes first. But rest assured, I will be back.

Yeah, I'd appreciate a recap too. I know we're in this catacombs looking for this Shoanti boy's dead body, but a general recap of what we've been doing and why and where we're headed would be nice, just to be sure we're all on the same page.
