You've heard only rumors, but it seems that the Miriam's Love isn't the first ship to show up dead in the water with no crew and no trace of what happened to them...

Side Quest: The Mysterious Slavers:
You've heard rumors at the Tavern in Rickety's Squibbs that a huge vessel, carrying slaves of an indeterminate race, came in for repairs. The guard onboard were heavily armed, and several people claim to have seen "lizardly humans" through port windows when they were able to sneak up. Voices were also heard at night, trying to get passers-by to release them, with promises of rewards.

The World Weapons:
It appears that there will be some sort of "demons" invading the Shackles, and the ancient Azlanti World Weapons are somehow connected. There is a cave, off of the cost of Rickety's Island, where you can learn more...

Guys, Harvey isn't the only one who can decide what augmentations to put on the ship. Feel free to engage Rickety, ask questions, explore the island (I haven't forgotten about your post, Sunny!) and interact with NPC's.

Also, very soon (I expect, anyway) you'll have found out a little bit more about a couple of things, and that's going to open up a new avenue for you.

I'm going to have a spoilered list up top of "side quests" you've acquired, and as you progress in them I'll update the list. Think of it as kind of like the journal in an Elder Scrolls game, or if you've never played those, then a "mission list". They won't be necessary for you to do, but when you guys signed up for this, I told you it was a sandbox. There will be options. Tons of them. Also, if you can, do a little reading on the Sczarni, The Apsis Consortium, and other factions in the Inner Sea. If you can't, no biggie, you'll learn what you need to know as the game goes on. It's just nice to throw little tidbits out there and have you guys go "Hey! That means ______!", ya dig?

I'd also like to take this weekend of downtime to ask you guys's opinion on how the game is progressing, what you like/dislike, etc. Think about that and let me know eventually, if you wish.

Also, I haven't said it yet, but thanks for sticking around after I was gone for all that while. You guys are the best. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure this is an adventure worthy of you!

A bit of player knowledge:

The Aboleths are aberrations that use mind control and other evil magic to subjugate and enslave other races. The ancient Azlanti kingdom waged a terrible war with them, to try and win their own freedom, right up until the Starfall. (The starfall was a comet that hit the world and destroyed almost all civilization, including the Azlanti and the Aboleths.)

There are still Aboleths, but they are far,far away from the surface of the world. They mostly live under the sea, though there are quite a few in the underdark as well.

The Azlanti war with the Aboleths has a bit to do with one of the main plots of this adventure, as you can see. For instance, (and this is my own liberty taken with the lore of Golarion, it is not actually part of the setting as far as paizo is concerned) the Azlanti used magic that was ancient, even to them, to create terrible weapons, in the form of natural disasters and magical "events" like plagues of magical energy that swept across the land.

One of those weapons is the Eye of Abendego, the giant whirlpool storm that is in the middle of the shackles. It's pretty much the only thing keeping Cheliax from invading the shackles and destroying the entire place.

You just discovered the knowledge that is a mobile weapon, something no one else (as far as you know) is aware of.

For instance, if Cheliax somehow found out about it, and were seeking the keys, and ended up controlling it, they could destroy all of the shackles, and all pirate life as Golarion knows it.

And also, don't forget, the original crew in this adventure was sent into that fortress to recover a small chest....

This is a list of things that I think that we will need, I will try my best to take in everyone else's wishes and wants.

Broad Rudder: A wide rudder makes a ship more nimble, granting a +1 bonus on all sailing checks.
Requirements: Craft (ships) DC 16
Cost : 500 gp

Concealed Weapon Port: The ship’s belowdecks area
undergoes major reconstruction in order to house
Large direct-fire siege engines, such as light ballistae or
cannons, if they are in use in the campaign. A concealed
weapon port can only be recognized on a successful DC
15 Perception check. Each concealed port reduces a ship’s
cargo capacity by 5 tons, in addition to the space required
by the weapon itself.
Requirements: Craft (ships) DC 16
Cost: 100 gp per port (in addition to the cost of the weapons)
X2 at least
One on each side.

Smuggling Compartments: The ship’s bulkheads are
modified so that gaps between them can serve as hidden
cargo storage areas. This does not change a ship’s cargo
capacity. A smuggling compartment can hold anything that
fits within a 5-foot cubic space. If you are using the plunder
rules (see “The Life of a Pirate” in Pathfinder Adventure Path
#55 for details on the plunder system), in general, two
smuggling compartments are required to hold 1 point of
plunder. A DC 20 Perception check is required to locate
smuggling compartments in a search of the ship.
Requirements: Craft (ships) DC 19
Cost: 500 gp per 5-foot-square compartment

That leaves 300gp to spend on the crew and their leave for the time. If anyone has any objections please let me know if no one else objects that this is what we will do GM.

As for your question on what we like/dislike about the game etc I so far have found it a lot of fun. I think that if I could I redo some of the actions that I have taken and some of the skills etc.

I would ponder if the GM would allow us to use the rules of retraining

I am not saying that I would redo everything but give us the option if we wanted too.

I really like the game is playing out, and so far this is the one of the few games that I am looking forward to playing in more and more. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for anyone playing the game

I think it's a pretty sweet game, glad I didn't become captain, Had to get back into playing Alistar and his trobles to serve his code but still serve and please Besmara. I think he makes a good voice of reaseon, but will follow orders given as long as they don't make him break his code. Good game indeed and thanks for the mount. If it proves to be too bothersome or good we can revisit it.

another upgrade (for later probably) is a "panic room" so to speak. a fortified room below decks to hold up in case of an overwhelming boarding action. (seen this used in real ship combat from 17th and 18th century ships)

but the current plans sound good to me.

also any thoughts on Noro's possible change in appearance?

Am rilly, rilly enjoyin' bein with every one an' hasin' fun an' stuffs.


So, my cat was at the vet this past week and came home on Friday after being diagnosed with a horribly fatal disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (or FIP). Last Sunday, the 29th, she was failing, but she stabilized over this past week. She rallied on Saturday. I won't go into details or specifics (send me a message if you want that), but I took her Monday for a second opinion at a different vet. FIP was confirmed, and I was gently told that there truly was not much to be done. They could either stretch her out for a few days, or we could put her down today, because her body could fight no longer.

So I did the tough decision and put her down. We had several of my friends and my dad there with me, which was a great help. I cried and am still crying on and off. It's going to be a truly tough day tomorrow. Today, though, I just have no creative energy.

I'm going to try and post tomorrow, but if I'm needed before then, please bot me.

Olhas, you have my condolences man. I had something similar happen to my childhood pet. It was one of the toughest things I've ever had to make a decision on. Just take it a day at a time. If you want to talk about it just send me a pm.

A couple of things real quick.

1. I'm assuming we lost Olhas. He hasn't posted or Pm'd me in a long time. How do you wish to deal with it?

2. My new schedule allows me plenty of free tie in the morning to post, so it looks like my PBP'ing is back on track, as well as the games I am running. Let's have some fun.

3. The plot is about to take off. I mean, really take off. A lot of this is based in actual Golarion canon. The only thing that I am homebrewing is the whole "Eye of Abendego being a massive weapon" thing. So, things like the Red Mantis Assassins, The Sczarni, the Apsis Consortium, and locations in this game can all be looked up and learned about, if you don't know what they are. For instance, the Apsis Consortium agent in the tavern that was looking for the Sczarni ship should have been a major tip off for anyone with knowledge of the two factions, Noro in particular.

Also, feel free to ask questions. If something happens and you aren't sure what happened, I will explain in detail if you wish

And finally, the biggest thing of all...

I have a scanner now! Starting tomorrow, there will be maps for everything that happens from here on out, including a map of the shackles and locations! Can I get a "yay"?

I know that this game has been touch and go since the beginning, but here's to getting it going for good, eh?

Guys, I apologize for this, but I have to be honest. I just don't have the time to run this adventure anymore. I have fun with it, I love it, and I would really love to keep it going, but I don't have the availability right now, and I don't know when I will. Real life is just too hectic for me. A lot of my games on here are suffering, and I've been cutting them down quite a bit. I'm even leaving many of them. I hate that I have to do this, because I have such high hopes for it. I have a really good plot and a really good plan.

What I am going to to do is keep this game on a kind of hiatus, and when I go on vacation, upload ALL of the maps, and info into google drive, that way I can do everything from my phone. It may be a while before that happens. If any of you want to drop out of the game, I understand. I haven't exactly been the most reliable GM for you all, and I hate that.

Opinions?


First, thank you immensely for your time effort and attention.

Second, I wish you and yours in what ever Real Life things are doing well and going swell.

Third, I am quite happy to wait and play when you and others get more time to continue.

Sheesh, I don't even know where to begin. My parents (who have been married for 30+ years) are divorcing, and my mother is living with my wife and I until she finds a job and gets her own place. Thing is, in order for her to live with us, we need to leave or apartment and move into a bigger house. So there's that.

Then, I have a new job which takes pretty much all of my spare time, and my posting is limited to only my phone, except in rare occasions. I'm thinking if I can find a time to take a few days and load this entire campaign into google drive, I'll be able to maintain it like that.
