Morrow, Tue |
A bit of heads up. GM West is very busy with work and will be taking a hiatus, probably until May. Hoping that doesn't cause everyone to bail.
GM West |
Hey folks, I'm really sorry for the extended absence. Work got REALLY busy, then I moved to a new place (still settling in) and I got a little embarrassed to even post to let you know what was going on because I'd been gone so long. It's not much of an excuse I know, but I'm hoping to pick things up again here in the next week or so. Tax season continues through April, so my posting might not be really swift, but then again I've been away awhile now and wanting to get back into the flow - so just maybe we'll get back on course sooner than later.
Everyone still with me? Sound off and let me know, please! :)
Reonnyn |
I am still here :)
Morrow, Tue |
Here!
Reonnyn |
Verdan: I an a little confused, what spell are you referring to?
GM West: Good to see you back! Was Reonnyn able to track Glorb down to find out more about the Guild chamber?
GM West |
Happy to be back! Apologies for missing your question, but you definitely have no luck in your inquiry. If Glorb had a few weeks to make discrete inquiries then perhaps he might learn something. But the odds are slim that anyone that dared break into the Wizard's Guild (and survived!) would be talking much about it for fear of retribution.
Verdan priest of Pelor |
Sorry should have been spells, are there any spells anyone wants me to memorize today? I have some general utility spells like comprehend language that I don't think will be overly useful on this capper so I can swap them out for something else like Remove Fear.
Morrow, Tue |
Thinking of the kind of traps we might encounter in the guide building, for Verdan's spells or maybe scrolls that we (the group) might consider buying?
2nd level
Remove Paralysis
Restoration, Lesser
3rd level
Invisibility Purge
Remove Blindness/Deafness
Remove Curse
Remove Disease
4th level
Neutralize Poison
5th level
Break Enchantment
True Seeing
Do we still have group funds? like that 8,000 GP Ruby, that could be sold for stuff like this?
Likewise the scrolls that Nebuzaradan mentioned in the game thread?
And what is the status of our CLW wands? Or Lesser Vigor? Don't want to run short on after combat healing when we return to the tower!
GM West |
Any purchases other than the specific scrolls mentioned in the gameplay thread? I plan to move us along in the next few days, so speak up now. Once you've started your mission, there will be no retro purchases allowed. :)
Morrow, Tue |
I want a scroll of Exactly What I Need At Exactly When I Need It!
But since I can't cast 10th level spells..... Never mind!
Verdan priest of Pelor |
I have changed:
Consecrate for Remove Paralysis
Daylight for Invisibility Purge
vigor mass lesser for Remove Curse
Freedom of Movement for Neutralize Poison
SURGE OF FORTUNE for True seeing
We need to purchase:
Scroll for Remove Disease
Scroll of Break Enchantment
Scroll of Tongues
An Ointment that cost 250gp for true seeing
Diamond worth 500gp for Raise dead, may be a few of those ;o)
And I have 1400gp to put in for the costs.
GM West |
I'll hold off a bit longer then... Any other donations to Verdan's wishlist? Here are the costs:
Scroll of Remove Disease - 375gp
Scroll of Break Enchantment - 700gp
Scroll of Tongues - 700gp
Ointment (for Verdan's memorized True Seeing spell) - 250gp
Total Cost: 2025gp
Verdan's share = 1400 gp
Extra GP Needed: 575gp
-----------------------------------
Verdan, I think you're shorting yourself one 2nd level spell (you should have 5, I think.) Take a look and make sure I'm correct. I left Consecrate for you on the list I've got for you on my version of your character sheet. Feel free to choose another though, if you wish!
Also... isn't the diamond for Raised Dead supposed to be 5000gp? Or does a Radiant Servant of Pelor get an ability that makes it a cheaper material component? I could have overlooked that somewhere...
Reonnyn |
Reonnyn has an emerald gem (1800 gp) he can use to chip in here. Also yeah diamonds are 5000gp, not 500gp. We just need to avoid dying :)
Verdan priest of Pelor |
Ha, Ha, Ha new glasses... yes it is 5000 gp for the Diamonds. Really hating these new bifocals. Have to shift my head to see clearly.
And you are correct, I was missing a 2nd level spell. So I will take a 2nd Lesser Restoration.
Morrow, Tue |
I'll kick in 200 to help. 300 if needed. 500?
Gold doesn't matter to the dead so whatever is needed!
GM West |
Looks like you've got the funds to add those scrolls and material components. I'll make character sheet adjustments and have you all meet with your contact at the rendezvous point with my next post. Might be tonight if I can get to it, or tomorrow night at the latest.
GM West |
Everyone please check your character sheets one last time to make sure you've got what you want in the way of equipment and memorized spells! Be sure to look at the sheets I use (links below for your convenience, and they can also be found at the end of every one of my posts in the adventure thread) and compare to your Paizo sheets to make sure I've got it right. Note that I have your Memorized spells in a post that follows your main character sheet (along with other notes on resources you use up, including class abilities, magic items, rations, etc.)
Morgrym, I didn't see spells or equipment on your Paizo sheet. I gave you some basic stuff, but feel free to add or subtract what you want. Remember folks, what you have now will be set in stone when you respond to my next post taking you into the Wizard's Guild!
I'm hoping to post tomorrow sometime, so when you next post your response be sure to note any changes you'd like me to make to your character sheets!

Not sure if we got these magic items
Scroll for Remove Disease
Scroll of Break Enchantment
Scroll of Tongues
An Ointment that cost 250gp for true seeing
Diamond worth 500gp for Raise dead
GM West |
Verdan, I think my list of spells was a bit different from yours. Take a look at my list below and see if it looks good:
0 Level: Create Water, Detect Magic, Detect Magic, Purify Food and Drink, Read Magic, Resistance
1st Level: Bless, Bless, Comprehend Languages, Divine Favor, Protection from Chaos/Evil/Law; (Domain Spell - Cure Light Wounds)
2nd Level: Iron Silence, Remove Paralysis, Lesser Restoration, Shield Other, Spiritual Weapon; (Domain Spell - Heat Metal)
3rd Level: Invisibility Purge, Remove Curse, Remove Blindness/Deafness, Searing Light; (Domain Spell - Cure Serious Wounds)
4th Level: Air Walk, Neutralize Poison; (Domain Spell - Fire Shield)
5th Level: True Seeing; (Domain Spell - Cure Light Wounds [Mass])
Your character sheet shows Remove Paralysis (x2), but I think that's one too many 2nd level spells. The list above should match what you have available.

Enjoy!
Reonnyn |
Use OFF spray.
GM West |
LOL, yeah I think you have to use two different sprays for ticks and mosquitos! Amazingly, I wasn't eaten alive as I usually am on these trips. Just a couple bites from some mosquitos that ignored the OFF I used liberally.
Was a fun trip, ready to get back to the game!
GM West |
Morgrym, I'm a little confused by your modifiers. Here's what I came up with some months ago when I was figuring out how Leap Attack with your Valorous weapon:
---------------------------
OK, so looking back over the feat, the Leap Attack states:
"If you cover at least 10 feet of horizontal distance with your jump, and you end your jump in a square from which you threaten your target, you deal +100% the normal bonus damage from your use of the Power Attack feat."
So that's not double your STR damage or that of the weapon, it's ONLY the power attack 'bonus' damage - which of course is based on how much you penalize yourself on the attack roll.
The Valorous aspect of the weapon doubles the weapon's damage, which after doing some online looking appears to include the 'extra' damage from the Leap attack. So, just to make sure we're both on the same page, I've put a couple examples below:
Your 'base' attack bonus is +15, and your 'base' damage is 2d4 +11.
If you charge and attack without any Power Attack:
+17 to hit, 4d4 +22 damage
Only your base damage of +11 is doubled due to Valorous weapon
If you charge and leap attack with your maximum of -7/+14 Power Attack:
+10 to hit, 4d4 +78 damage
Base damage of +11, added to PA +14 doubled (+28) by Leap Attack for a total of +39. This amount is then doubled for a whopping +78 due to the Valorous weapon. Does that sound correct?
---------------------------
Doesn't look like you used any Power Attack though, based on that attack roll? Also, you don't have a charge lane according the map (I have your previous position on the map as a sort of transparent icon), so a charge attack isn't possible. I'll post with the presumption you aren't using Power Attack, since you used that +17 to hit modifier (+15 base +2 rage), and the +2 from your insight and the -2 from failing the Will save offset each other, so the +17 to hit is indeed correct. But the damage is going to be a lot less (2d4 +14), I believe. Be sure, in future posts, to indicate how much Power Attack you're using so I can make those adjustments myself if needed.
