Rimy Jim |
Wow.
Between Jim's mighty chops and Justinius' barrage of well placed stabs the huge wrathspawn all but vanishes in a deluge of inky black viscera. The Flame Queen's two 'normal' eyes go wide with shock at the display. "Impossible..." she mutters.
I wouldn't want to fight us.
Rimy Jim |
I realize that currently it couldn't get me within melee range, but for future reference, would you allow Jim to move vertically with bladed dash? If so, he would then obviously fall immediately afterwards, but it would still be mighty useful.

Hey all, as some of you know I'm having surgery tomorrow and may not be able to post for a few days, and then will be on heavy medication (and only be able to use 1 arm) for a few weeks after that. Since this campaign is already kind of limping along instead of slow it down even further I'm going to pause it for a while. Once I've recovered some we can talk about if we want to revive it as is, try to revive it with some cast changes, or start something else. Thanks for your understanding.
Valanthe of the Pomarj |
Good luck, and I will be here awaiting your return. I am very interested in continuing it.
Valanthe of the Pomarj |
Nate! Good to see you back typing. Rest well, and return as soon as you feel like it! Glad everything went ok.

Alright everyone, I think I've recovered my mental faculties well enough to start running stuff again. I started my simple 1st level game back up a few days ago and haven't screwed it up at all yet. For this game, we were kind of limping along slowly before I left and I'd prefer not to continue that way. In the post where I paused the game I mentioned several options for moving forward... I think we should discuss them and make a decision.
Option 1- revive it as is.
This is the simplest option but a game that's only moving a round or two a week isn't going to last very long, so I'd have to ask everyone to really commit to posting at least 3-4 times per week. The original recruitment asked for people to try to post 1/day and that would still be the ideal.
Option 2- revive it with some cast changes.
This would function like option 1 with two exceptions. First, I have a single player left behind in a game that was struggling enough before my surgery that I ended it instead of pausing; I would offer him a place in this group if he's interested. Second, it would provide an opportunity for a graceful exit for anyone who feels like they cannot honestly commit to posting 3-4 times a week.
Option 3- end this game.
This would not necessarily end our playing together, but it would be the end of these characters (or at least, of this version of them). I have 2 very different ideas for new campaigns and I would start one or both of them as soon as I'm able. Each of you would be guaranteed at a spot in one of the new games if you wanted it.
I'd really like to hear from each of you about your feelings on the matter. Thanks!
Justinius Redarm |
I am quite fond of the character Justinius has become. My first thought is to keep playing him. I would welcome any new players, but I also get frustrated with the posting rate. Imho, posting 3-4 times a week is not going to cut it durring combat, 5-6 is really the range I'm interested in.
I think we should try to continue this game (with or without new players) and give it 1-2 months to see if we can improve the posting rate, moving to option 3 then.
Valanthe of the Pomarj |
I am also very interested in continuing.
Please bring your player over, we will make him fell welcome.
I can commit to the posting rate.
Let's put this game rolling again, and make a push to move it at a great pace.
Rimy Jim |
Realistically, I'm not going to be able to meet the posting requirement at this point. I'll finish out the current dungeon, but after that I fear Rimy Jim will have to sail off into the sunset.
Oliver Snow |
I think I would personally be more interested in doing something new. I could commit to post 3-4 times a week. I know others would still like to post multiple times/day, but even every day would be difficult for me at this point.

Alright, if we're going to lose two people (and drop down to only one original member), I think it's time to let this game die. Sorry Justinius and Val. The next question is do you all think it's worth restarting the game just for a couple weeks? We'd finish out this dungeon and I'll modify it a little to try to provide a little closure to the game. Or, should we end it right now and I'll start working on the next game? Depending on what I run next, those of you who are going to play could conceivably be making characters as soon as this weekend (when I'd start recruiting others), if we don't restart this game.

Let it go into the good night...

Well, this is a sad moment for me (as I know it is for some of you). Thanks for playing and for making the game fun for me too. It's been a pleasure running for you all.
As I said I have two different ideas for what to run next. I need to figure a couple things out in the next few days to see how much time I'll have available for running. If it looks like I'll have a lot of time I may try to run them both and you could each pick which you want to play in. If I have time for something complex I'll run the Tower of Ages (a complicated high fantasy game some of you already know a little about), and if I only have time for something simpler I'll run the Wild Wild East (a Wild West flavored game set in an Asian frontier where gunslingers are replaced by deadly swordsmen).
I'll let you all know as soon as possible.

Hey guys,
Sorry to see this go. I know everyone was having fun with it. Nate, when you open those new games if you're looking for a 5-7 post a week game, I'm pretty sure I could commit to that, and depending on the nature of the game, would definitely be interested in playing with this group again.
Yours in spirit,
Rattles the Grave

Alright, based on how much time it looks like I can count on having, and on your feedback here and in PMs, I'm going to run the Wild Wild East game. Val, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the genre of American Westerns at all but that's kind of the feel we'll be going for except, as I said, instead of being set in the American west it will be set in the frontier of a generic Asian nation, and instead of gunslinging bandits and lawmen they'll be swordsman.
The PCs will all be swordsman too. You don't necessarily have to be a martial class but you need to be pretty decent with a sword. I might take one character who's not a swordsman at all if someone comes up with a particularly good idea. We're probably going to start in 3-5th level range, and I'll have a specific list of available races. If you're interested please PM me and I'll get you more details. Depending on the response from you all I might recruit a few more or I might just make a party of you and the remnant from my other game.

Sorry but I will have to bow out... have fun!

I'm interested!
You're also not good at following directions, lol. I'll PM you more details tomorrow. I'm hoping to hear from Oliver and the player from the other game very soon and I'll be working nailing down the details and probably setting up a recruitment thread tomorrow.

here is the official race guide for the Wild Wild East. I'll include it in the official recruitment post too (which I'll link here when it goes up), but you guys can preview it now (and feel free to share questions/corrections/etc).
