Danir |
GM, can I spend a Hero Point for a retcon? I was thinking it might be conceivable that Danir would use Spell Storing item infusion to hold a Cure Light Wounds spell for just such an occassion as this, would this be feasible use of a Hero Point? He would place the spell into his signet ring and would have a single 1d8+1 healing from it.

What Xov thinks of the other PCs, part 2
This will be told in first person...
He did say something yesterday which I found disturbing: when we were planning to interrogate a couple of Karns, he suggested that we should avoid torturing the dragonmarked Karn only because it might anger his house. While this was certainly the right choice, I could not tell if Danir would have been okay with torturing someone who did not have a powerful patron...which is disturbing, to say the least. At least, I should probably remind him whenever possible of the futility of torture as a tool.
And with that, Kyndril exits my character-updates: the next time I write an update to Xov's opinions of the other PCs, there will not be an entry for Kyndril.
Coming soon at some undetermined point:
--Xov's expanded backstory, part 3 (so far I've given a bunch of information about Xov's birth, but almost nothing about the next ~110 years).
--Xov's mentality, part 2

Oh, very important question:
Has anyone gained a level?
Putting this here--I've been keeping track. The xp gain so far has been:
1. escaping thief on the train: 50 xp (Xov and Othan only)
2. Huecuva: 100 xp, you also awarded 25 xp for unspecified roleplaying at the same time
3. 3 Imps :300 xp
4. 20 mooks : 80 xp
5. 40 xp instead of a hero point for Xov: I'm not sure how fair that was, considering I got a feat to opt out of the hero point system, but it is pretty small so whatever
6. RPing/interrogation/killing mooks in an ally: 40 xp (Xov and Othan only)
7. Zombies!: 320 xp
Totals:
Xov has 955 (unless you adjust/eliminate the hero-point xp)
Othan has 915
Everyone else has 825
This is assuming you posted all xp awards on either the main thread or the discussion thread, and that I didn't miss anything...
So no one has leveled up, but we probably will before the end of this adventure.

I'm trying to intimidate him, everyone else can use Aid Another to help me (roll an intimidate check, if you get at least a 10, I get a +2 bonus). Hopefully I also get some sort of bonus for displaying flashy magic (Deeper Darkness).
He may well be in on the evil cult, and so I doubt diplomacy will be of much use...he knows Xov knows he knows something, and a group of adventurers can be pretty scary. If Ebran, Danir, and Othan all use aid another, and two of you succeed, then I'll have a 18 to intimidate. Wait...maybe I could also Enlarge Person myself, that should help...
the only catch is that now we'll have to find somewhere else to rest for the night:) We do have camping gear, after all.
Ebran Asur |
yeah intimidating isnt really in Ebran's personality, unless certain buttons get pushed. i dont know what those would be, but he doesnt see a point in intimidating. and he would probably be more intimidating by keeping his mouth shut and acting like this behavior of yours is every day business.
Xov |
It isn't really in Xov's personality either...he doesn't like being noticed like that. But he's more than willing to do it if he thinks it is the best option.
Because, of course, doing things he finds unpleasant because he thinks they will work (or he is ordered to) is something he is more than willing to do.

Alright guys I've had this thought rattling around in my brain for a few days...a Xen'Drik kingmaker. I will gm it but I will need assistance in the form of figuring out the kingmaker rules in the pfsrd and in converting some of the old 3.5 eberron prestige classes into archtypes. The other thing that I will need is a source of maps. Also this is going to be setup as a five man player group, I'm giving you first shot at joining if you want to. If I don't meet the five players quota I will start up a recruitment thread. Thoughts?
Essar Kalvin |
yes and no, this venture is being sponsored by the glorious (read greedy) lords of stormreach. If you want to be a immigrant from Khorvaire you can be (I will devise campaign traits). And don't think this isn't open even to drow, the idea is that you will be going deep into Xen'Drik...the uncharted area.
Essar Kalvin |
I don't have birthright sadly, however here I have some campaign traits for you. This list only covers (partially) the five nations more will be devised.
Cyran restorer. You come from the blasted kingdom of Cyre, destroyed by the mists of the mournlands. Your people have lost hope, the attempts to create a new Cyre have failed completely. You came to stormreach to seek a new life, you abandoned the thought of rebuilding your beloved country of Cyre. Then you saw the poster which advertised the settlement of the Xen'Drik interior. The desire to rebuild Cyre suddenly came back and you felt a revelation, New Cyre would not be built in Khorvaire...it would be built in Xen'Drik. Your will is great and you have experienced a renewed burst of resolve Cyre is not dead, not on your watch. You gain a 1+ trait bonus to Will saves.
Karnathi war hero. You are a war hero of Karnath, you fought against the Thranian hordes and rallied your fellow soldiers when all seemed lost and the end was near... For your heroism you were made an officer and you led the men under your command to glory and victory on the battlefield. As the war ended however your heroism was forgotten as Karnath settled back into a new mode of existence called Peace. You however hunger for glory and conquest, you came to stormreach to seek this glory and found the poster advertising settlement of the Xen'Drik interior. You signed on immediatly. You gain diplomacy as a class skill and gain a 2+ trait bonus to rally fellow soldiers and companions.
Brelish Scoundrel. You are a no good (in the eye of your parents) scoundrel who doesn't work for a living. Instead you go on "idle and useless" pursuits (aka adventuring). You have lived an exciting life and to escape the nagging of your parents you made your way to stormreach. In stormreach you have acted in every imaginable role, smuggler, enforcer and even once an assassination! Your feats of rogue guile have gotten you in trouble with the authorites however and you upon seeing the recruitment poster signed on with the expedition. You gain bluff as a class skill and you gain a 2+ trait bonus when you use bluff to deceive stormreach authorites.
Aundairian Prodigy. You are a prodigy in the society of Aundair, your skill with manipulating magical items(even if you are not a spellcaster) is incrediable. You even wrote a brief (by Aundairian standards) thesis on the use and manipulation of magic items which is now being used by the lower raning universities as a teaching aid. You went to Xen'Drik to practice your art with the legendary eldritch machines of the ancient giants. When you saw the psoter telling of the settlement you signed on in a heartbeat. Yu gain Use Magic Device as a class skill and receive a 2+ trait bonus to activating unknown magic devices.
Thranian "cultist".As the last war dragged on the puritians who controlled Thrane made a degree that all who were not of the Silver Flame were "cultists" and had few if any rights under Thranian law. You and perhaps your family have escaped Thrane and you went to stormreach seeking a better life. Stormreach was hardly better then Thrane though and you (and perhaps your family) have rotted in poverty. When you sw the psoter advertising the settlement of the interior you jumped on it like a a starved man spotting a feast. Your life has been filled with hardship, you receive 1+ trait bonus to your fortitude.
There will be more traits for the five nations and many other places in Eberron for now give me your thoughts. Although be warned that races that are not from eberron and the pathfinder core and featured races are not allowed. And wait on character ideas please until I've created all the campaign traits (be merciful with this new gm).

Guys, I feel terrible from a Freeform PbP I was playing on another site. Everything got out of hand and I didn't realize what was happening until the player told me straight out what was happening (raping the other PC).
I don't feel well tonight and I can't DM further tonight. Sorry guys.
Essar Kalvin |
starting at level 2 using the focus/foible system, only classes off limits are the gunslinger, antipaladin and sythesist summoners. Also remember that while the evil alighnments are not allowed the gods and religions of eberron are more flexiable then normal(feel free to be a dark six worshiper if you want to). But before you decide on a concept examine the link Tenro (thank you) provided. As if you want to play a prestige class I will convert it into an archtype...within reason. For example the Thief of Life is clearly a class designed for rogues despite the cross class skill requirements. Also Tenro I've taken my own twist on the warforged to give you some options.
In this game the warforged have three subraces in addition to one in the link, this is to represent both the styles of warforged that House Cannith would have made in addition to the normal warforged and the other warforged...
The Agile, these warforged were not designed by house Cannith to be strait up bruisers, they were designed for the more stealthy parts of warfare. Agile warforged receive 2+Dex, 2+ Wis and -2 Cha.
The Officers, these warforged were designed to lead other warforged in battle during the Last War. While they are capable fighters their true strength is leadership. Officers receive 2+ Str, 2+ Cha and -2 Wis.
The Mindforged, these warforged are strange they were never made by House Cannith and they have no life marks. They possess a remarkable intellect and force of personality, however they seem to suffer from something...alien perhaps it is the nature of the costruct mind? The Mindforged receive 2+ Int, 2+ Cha and -2 Wis.
Xov you can use the dragonmark Abberant rules in the link to create your abberant dragonmark. You can use any of the spell options listed that are also in the pathfinder pfsrd.
Also everyone of you who is interested from now on I will be devising your campaign traits around your own stories rather then providng a list. I will be creating several racial archtpyes as well, I'm having this vision of a scorpion rider caveliar archtype for Drow...
Goodluck gm

(not sure if you want to further this "recruitment" of sorts in this thread or start a new one)
Mindforged immediately sounds interesting to me, particularly in that they have no life mark. with a name like mindforged, i'd have to try to go with Psion or something. plus since they werent made by house cannith, they fit with my idea of a warforged that was perhaps made by giants or something.
or perhaps the Dread class would be an interesting angle on it. makes it even spookier, and i have never played a Dread before so that would be rather interesting. with the Dread angle, perhaps the character was created by the Quori or some other agents of the Dreaming Dark. i plan on taking the Psiforged Body feat, so his body would be covered in twisted and sickly glowing crystals.
Essar Kalvin |
that would do what I am trying to do is get your (and anyone else who wants to join in) characters made and designed. Then i will start the recruitment thread where you along side me figure out who is suitable and who is not. Psionics are perfectly acceptable.
Tenro |
then that is my character idea.
Mindforged Dread.
reading up on the imagery of the Dread class and powers has some cool images floating in my head. Focus would be CHA, foible likely STR.
as far as kingmaker goes, he would likely be either someone who rules through fear, or someone who is somewhat of a "power behind the throne" assisting another PC more suited for leadership by using fear to push his agenda in areas that the King is unsuited for.

Guys, I feel terrible from a Freeform PbP I was playing on another site. Everything got out of hand and I didn't realize what was happening until the player told me straight out what was happening (raping the other PC).
I don't feel well tonight and I can't DM further tonight. Sorry guys.
No problem, there's no rush.
And...
Xov's mentality, part 2
This will be told in third person...
Partly, though, this is a result of his unique upbringing.
For example, unlike, say, Danir, Xov has no qualms about the Warforged remaining in perpetual pseudo-slavery. In his mind, the warforged owe their lives to their creators, and so logically they should be naturally obedient. In a sense, Xov's idea of warforged mimics his conception of himself: he believes that he owes his life to the late King Wrogar.
Non-warforged slaves are a somewhat different matter: once again, Xov views himself as sort-of-like a slave, and has not been mistreated (as far as he knows). And, as far as he knows, he was "rightfully" enslaved (under the code of ethics he was taught by the people enslaving him, of course :O ). As he has never known any other life and has no close friends, he has a hard time empathizing with the situations of less-fortunate slaves. He does recognize that many of them are mistreated, and that many of them did, unlike himself, have families and lives before they were enslaved through debt or war. Unlike with warforged, Xov feels very uncomfortable with the ideas of slavery applied to other "natural" species--he views enslaving people as comparable to torture (see below). However, he also respects the official laws of Aundair, leaving him somewhat conflicted. Ultimately, he avoids this conflict by trying to avoid thinking about the plight of most Khorvairian slaves--they aren't his concern (he is Neutral, after all, not Good). This is something that is likely to change later in the campaign...
Xov also still has faith in absolute monarchies, despite the Brelish's attempt at a "new" form of government, he remains unimpressed by experimental governments that did not exist when he was a child. He believes in loyalty above all else, and isn't sure if the same level of loyalty can be worked in to a government in which people can dispose of their leaders.
Still, Xov has some more modern views: he despises torture in any capacity, both because he believes it to be ineffective and because it is a gross violation of another sentient being. He is very uncomfortable when either violence or torture are suggested as potential courses of action (which will likely lead to more tension between him and Othan...). Of course, his distaste for violence and torture is partly just because they both attract a lot of attention, and attracting attention is something Xov fears. But torture, in particular, is something he hates even more than attention.
Largely, the very old political views Xov has are simply ideas from a previous century which he has never been forced to reconsider. He hasn't interacted much with warforged, so he has not had to consider them as anything other than tools. This, of course, will likely change as the campaign goes on.
And, aside from his hate of torture and his love of the monarchy, none of these beliefs are very firm--they are basically just loose assumptions from the century he was raised in, but they are not firmly held convictions.
Okay, so that was shorter than the previous few entries. I was really trying to highlight some of his flaws...basically, I wanted to give Xov some ideas that are so different from anything I think or what most people now think, that it would be a huge challenge for me to roleplay it effectively. I also wanted to make it easy for his mentality and beliefs to alter as the campaign goes on...
and, of course, I wanted to stick with the 1984/brave new world -style character, who assumes (due to his conditioning) that everything the government tells him must be right, and tries to do mental gymnastics/ doublethink to justify it.

looks like I will be making a dwarven Inquisitor of Dol Arrah, god of honour and sacrifice.
Focus Str
Foible Dex
Con 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Int 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Wis 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Cha 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
I guess this means I will be a very tough melee/ casting Inquisitor. Seems very dwarven with High str, con and wis, with bad dex and cha.
