If an arsonist sets a fire and is then killed, the fire burns until its duration is spent. My example would be a real world one. My aunt went to a hypnotist to get help to quit smoking. She said it worked amazing for her. Now if that hypnotist dies does she start smoking again?
Now my personal opinion is that hypnotherapy is boarder line crazy talk. I tried to let people hypnotize me and it has never worked.
So you're saying that one time you WEREN'T hypnotized? Dude, that puts things in a whole new perspective and I don't think I can ever eat corn on the cob again.

I think I agree with you, but your rationale is terrible.
Arsonist? Really?
Why is that terrible?
Ok I have a rules-based argument. If a (non-concentration) spell ends when the caster dies, spells cannot be "permanent" EVER

It's terrible because you're comparing a real-life chemical reaction to an Enchantment. :)
My answer to this question is that the spell ends if it better serves the narrative. :)

This from the guy who reminded the DM that the BBEG who killed him had the "don't get hit by good guys" abilty.
that is WHOLLY unfair. I was asking for clarification on a post in which I didn't know what the eff he was talking about.

Dungeon Master S |

And I did that on purprose as a fail safe.

Cross-posting to all of my games: I'll be pretty much AFK on the 24th and 25th. I'll be back to slow posting on Monday the 26th until Wednesday the 28th. After that I'm back to full speed posting.

SRSLY, ask my tabletop group. My evoker has cast it several times, and every time it has done at least one of several things
1) hit only one bad guy2) hit the bad guys only with stuff they're immune or resistant to
3) been considered, only to be eschewed because it's clear the bad guys are immune to at least 2 effects
i dont' bother prepping it anymore.

Odric. It's super time consuming to check the wall of crunch posts. Can you please go back and check your ready made attack stuff?
1. Cleave is a standard action, so no iterative attacks.
2. Furious focus only negates you penalty on the first attack when using Power Attack. At level 14 every swing but the first incurs a -4 penalty to hit. Assuming the rest of the math is correct, Odric should get 3 attacks at +27/+18/+13 if using Power Attack.

This will be the official thread of the Play by Post. Campaign details appear on the Obsidian Portal site. The campaign will start once everyone's characters are made and ready to go. This is my first time running (or participating at all) in a Play by Post. Please don't hesitate to offer up suggestions, requests, and other sundry feedback.
/cheers gents.

Woah! That's INSANE. It doesn't feel that long.

...hey I just noticed this.
Infused Soul: The next time the PC fails a
saving throw against a death effect, that effect
is negated but the PC is stunned for one round
as the spiritual energies in his soul are burnt
away. This protection can save each PC only
once from a death effect.
Boon from Chief Ready-Klar on the eve of our assault on Scarwall
Remember this next time you die Morkeleb!

Morkeleb the Mighty |

Dying isn't the same as a "death effect." Death effect is typically a negative energy type of thing: level drain, or the spell "Finger of Death" or something. but thanks for the reminder!
(and petrification isn't death effect. I already thought of that before making that save vs. stoning)

Are you reading through 5 years of posts? That's nuts. I would LOVE to do that. This is by far my longest campaign via PbP (I've got about 8 that are more than simply a PFS scenario.)

So please tell me if I'm reading the map correctly. We are on the Ground Floor. In order to get to the other side of the wall that we are on, we have to go up to the first floor, and go down the spiral stair case on the east wall, or the stairs on the south wall. Or if we don't want to explore anything new, we can ascend to the second floor, and head over to the main spiral staircase east wall.
Now I will ask this question again. Do we want to find the dungeon, or do we track down the outlined blob that was casting 9th level spells? Do we want to give that creature / person time to recharge???

Grym,
Thanks for the refresh, but I positioned myself there tactically.. I have reach.

Sandor's smash hits on target, but the devil has plenty of fight left! Despite it being the perfect tool for the job, Gaius can't get through the devil's resistance to mortal magic.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but since the AoO was from standing up, then he would be in the original square. Sandor's sheild slam/bash automatically comes with a bull rush, so if the attack of 35 hits, and a 41 beats his CMD, he should be knocked prone again.

The fencing episode of Big Bang Theory is hilarious
Yes, there is a bit of truth to it as well.
I feel that is half the reason I did well fencing the other clubs in college. It was easy to beat a bunch of non-athletic nerds...

1. It depends on whether or not it's THIS sword:
Whose flesh the Sword of Mercy hurts has drawn no breath,
Whose soul it heals has wandered in the night,
Has paid the summing of all debts in death
Has turned to see returning light.
2. In Pathfinder you always round down ;-)

Dungeon Master S |

S is that from the book of swords?
Aye!

Sorry, I must have still been typing/thinking while Sandor posted.
I was thinking you could move up w/ your crossbow and shoot over Bucho's head while he chews on them.

Sandor Stouthammer |

Yeah I caught that looking at the time stamps. I think we were both thinking about protecting the southern flank. I still like the idea of having Sandor do it and not exposing "Serinthal's Chosen" While I could get one shot off, Ferox is much much better suited to it, and there is only one space to stand to get there if I remember the map correctly.

I'm still leveling up. Will try to get it done tonight, but working on 2 hrs of sleep since Friday 5am. And I still have a webcall to make tonight at 2000
