So a quick question for you all. Gaius did make a comment about making this castle our home/ base of operations.
I know we are in the middle of Orc lands. Dangerous orcs too as Grym can attest to. I know we can probably request aid and get people from that town we teleport to.
Is this something we should consider? Is this something the DM is willing to let us attempt?

Dungeon Master S |

The DM loves castles and castle building, but it's not likely in the cards here.
That being said, there is an AP built around kingdom and town building. I've just been waiting for someone to run it so Morkeleb and I can be players.

Old Lady |
3 people marked this as a favorite. |
The Old Lady stands at the door uncertain of proper protocol, she hesitates, collecting her courage. Taking a deep breath and sighing, she grabs the door handle firmly, opens the door and takes one step inside. “Gentlemen,” she proclaims, “this has been one loooooong read, but an excellent one. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment. I can’t wait to see how it ends so keep up the good work.” She steps back, closes the door and disappears into the night.

How delightfully mysterious...say thankya

Quite. Google shows the name to be a Christian radio personality.... or a doctor....

Wicked cool! Thanks for the compliment.

Thorgrym the Tracker |

Pretty nuts. I never thought random people would be reading about our adventure.
Though did Chris say something about this campaign being one of the longest running games on the board?

Dungeon Master S |

Our game is the 24th longest campaign out of 6,963 on the site.
It's also exceedingly rare for a campaign to complete an adventure path.

Dungeon Master S |

Hey guys, I'm at OGC until Sunday night and on vacation after that until Monday night. I'll be sporadic at best until Tuesday morning.

Thorgrym the Tracker |

Going on vacation in morning for 8-9 days. Will be camping most nights in Mtns of CO. As long as have cell service, I should still have time to post in evenings.
Will need kind souls to move Team Ranger around on map.

Dungeon Master S |

Hey guys, back from OGC, but Gen Con is now 9 days out and crushing me. I'll be posting when I can, as I can. I realize I've been spotty a lot over the last month, which is out of character for me, but it's a perfect storm of stuff. I'll be back up to a normal rate after the Con though. Sorry about that.

Dungeon Master S |

Hey everyone, I'm sincerely sorry I've been MIA. My flight home was affected by the Delta outage, and I'm really far behind on real life responsibilities. I'm back now, and will be back to posting. It'll be slowly at first, but by next week, it'll be normal, and the week after it'll be my abnormally fast self. Please bear with me, I promise to be back.

Take your time, the campaign will be here, it's not like we're not going to finish this dungeon crawl anytime soon..... Bahahahaha
Now all you need is a Karate tournament ...
Seriously take the time ya need.

Dungeon Master S |

Hey guys, just a quick word as we move into book 6 (of 6).
So Curse of the Crimson Throne is one of Paizo's older Adventure Paths. I choice it for a lot of reasons, and after years of playing, I am happy we opted for this one.
Being older, it is made with 3.5, NOT Pathfinder the RPG. So I've had to translate everything into a new edition of the game. It's not too bad, but it is extra work. Paizo is set to release an updated and expanded version of the campaign. New scenes, AMAZING artwork upgrades, and it's written in the PFRPG rules.
Dang it! Just as we're finishing, it's all done. Oh well. I'm not pausing the game to wait, I'll keep this game going at full speed. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
I expect we'll wrap up book 5 this week, bridge the gap, and get into Book 6 next week. Since you saved Zellara, we have another drawing to do!

Yeah, but now it's a tempting purchase. I can read about all the stuff we missed.

Dungeon Master S |

Once released I'll be happy to tell you what's new compared to what we did.

Gaius Lirsiiv |

Gear discussions moved here.
-Proposed: Grym gets stewardship of Serithiel and The Celestial Plate.
-This leaves the glamoured +3 Elven Chain available... Gaius wants.
-Icy Burst Light Mace... Gaius wants.
We're purchasing magical storage to collect treasure. Chris, can you repost or pin Vigil's shopping stats?

Morkeleb the Mighty |

I've picked up all I wanna take from the treasure (that's what's nice about being the only arcane spellcaster--VERY little gear contention!) I'll have one in-game post re: gear, if y'all don't mind...
actually, one thing: I lost track of whether anyone had claimed the Cloak of Resistance +2. If not, I'd like that.
I've deleted the stuff I know is claimed from "unclaimed loot". Please revisit until it's ALL GONE!!!

Ferox Kerr |

Oh, crap. I forgot that we hit 12th level, but never rested. We can level up, yes?

Dungeon Master S |

Level up. Do it. Do it.
The instant someone contacts Vencarlo we advance to book 6.

Ferox Kerr |

I don't think anyone has explicitly claimed the cloak yet. Some have expressed interest. I'm OK with Mork taking it.
There's nothing left in the loot that Ferox can use. I'll maybe do some shopping in Vigil once we do a split of the gold.

Gaius Lirsiiv |

I'll happily carry the Lantern of Revealing.
Yes, please, split of the gold and what's available in Vigil for purchase.
Anything left in the unclaimed list, Gaius has no use for. We can sell or just hold on to for laughs and future use.

Sandor Stouthammer |

I am good with everything that has been proposed. I have one question is the +2 lawful outsider bane Greatsword is that Serinthal?
I would like to see about increasing the magic in my armor or weapons. I don't mind going to Vigil since the proposed changes to our weapons and armors I can do cheaper than they can.
All I would need is some items to rekindle one of the forges here in the castle.

Ferox Kerr |

That is not Serithial. Serithial is WAY more badass than that. :)
Do we have the time to do all of these magical upgrades?

Dungeon Master S |

You can totally do upgrades, I just need to know how long beyond the first 5 days you want.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

lvl: HP: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 <--wheeeeeee
S, lemme get this straight--are we getting 5 days before leaving Scarwall? If that's the case, here's what I propose.
DAY 1: Teleport (me, Gaius, Ferox, Grym) to Vigil (rolls already done) and back. There we
-buy a Portable Hole 20,000 gp
-talk with the locals about Scarwall
-I purchase the materials (can trade my existing staff) for crafting my new staff to +1 Guardian
DAY 2 Teleport (me, +3 more AND whatever armor) to Vigil to get the neato buffs/upgrades to armor. Start selling off loot, and start transporting the yuge amounts of coin.
Also, bring out Zaralla to figure out that circlet of undead/skeleton warrior control.
DAY 3-5: continue removing all wealth that's not nailed down. Take teleport trips to Vigil to unload coin/goods as we find we can't carry more, and keep tabs on news of Korvosa maybe?
On Day 5 I'll cast Sending to Vencarlo. Text will be thus:
We have the weapon to fight Her. Help us return to Korvosa in secret. Also need intelligence.
Also, S please tell me how many days' worth of time over these 5 days I may count toward crafting my staff (I know it won't be the full 5...I need 8 days to complete) Edit: I forgot I need to take a day to bond my new item. So, that's 1 day that I can't teleport--no other spellcasting. But I will recharge the staff each day...
i'll go through the thread and find the treasure we didn't actually take, then finish out the coinage split.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

TREASURE!!
OK gents. I found the Treasure of Kazavon post. Since we've got 5 days, I'm assuming we can get every scrap, including scraping the gilt off the throne (which I'm sure at least Odric is going to do!!). Taking out the 20,000 gp for a Portable Hole, and NOT counting the magical items (they're done separately) that treasure alone totals 48,288 gp
that *appears* to be the only treasure I hadn't noted. Added to our coin, that's 61,236. In liquid cash. Hamana.
By my calculations, here are the magic items we found that we're selling:
Staff of Conjuration - 41,000 gp
Scroll: Animate Dead - 315 gp
MW Greatsword X3 - 450 gp
MW Halberd - 150 gp
Battleaxe, adamantine - 1500 gp
Greatsword +1, Lawful Outsider bane - 4150 gp
Battle axe +2 4150 gp
Chainmail, small, +3 - 4575 gp
Full plate +2 2825
+2 half-plate armor 2375
cloak of resistance +1 1000
THAT totals 64,865. Make sure you say whether something in here is taken and I missed teh "taking"
this gives us a grand total of...126,101. Drop the 101 for ease of dividing (stick it in teh group pot) and that gives us 6 shares of
21,000 gp a man.
That's a nice haul.

Dungeon Master S |

You have 5 days that includes shopping, traveling, and arranging for Scarwall's fate.
This does NOT include fixing ability drain, upgrading items, or crafting.

Surely between Ferox and I we can get one Restoration out during one of those days, no?

Dungeon Master, any trouble converting that to easily carriable platinum and precious stones?

Dungeon Master S |

No problem in converting it.
HOWEVER 2,100 Platinum is still 42 lb of coin.
Yeah you can get the spells cast during that time.

Dungeon Master S |

Yes you can get gems.
You also may end up spending it. I'm looking up the Vigil limits now.

Morkeleb the Mighty |

S...help me out here. I'm levelling, and can't figure out something. I've currently got 4 6th level spells in spellbook. I specifically recall you saying that when we hit 12 we didnt' get new spells (because of no rest), but I can't for the life of me recall how I might have picked up Mass Suggestion...I doubt I'd have picked that up as one of my 2 freebies per level; but I did a search on the thread and didn't find "mass suggestion" (thinking there may have been a scroll/book).
I don't wanna cheat and take 2 MORE free 6th level spells if I'm not entitled to them, but I don't remember how I got MS (but I think I do remember copying Stone to Flesh from a book or scroll). I know my 11th level spells were greater heroism & disintegrate. You don't have any recollection, do you? (considering how many PbPs you do, I'd think not, but thought I'd give it a go)

Dungeon Master S |

I don't remember. In the grand scheme of things, I'm not going to sweat it. Keep them.

You should learn Greater Heroism.
